It’s a rare example of practical engineering that prioritizes spatial efficiency over typical survivalist over-complication. While essentially a high-capacity UPS, its focus on immediate urban utility makes it a sensible insurance policy for the modern home.

This Little Brick Just Solved the #1 Food‑Loss Problem in BlackoutsAdded:
Happy lunch hour, gang. All right, maybe you've seen some of these memes online that ask, "If I broke into your house and stole what was under your bed, or if I broke into your house and stole what was on top of your refrigerator, what would I get?"
Okay, break into my house, steal what's on top of my refrigerator. You're going to get some empty egg cartons. Maybe you should get something different like this. Does that look familiar to anybody? How many How many of the rest of you guys have a top of your refrigerator like that with a cabinet up over the top and that little wasted space right there? That, like I said earlier, for me holds empty egg cartons.
Maybe we got a different idea for that space. What if we use that space for something like this?
Let's go over to the kitchen table. I'll tell you what this is.
Okay, now we're back at the kitchen table. This is something a little different than many of the things I've shown you before. This is not a solar generator. I want to tell you that right now. Okay, you're not going to plug this up to solar panels and charge this or whatever. Obviously, it looks quite different. However, what this is is a battery backup as the way they design it. It's for a refrigerator like I showed you. SL slides right on top of a refrigerator very nicely.
It's something it's, you know, your UPS power supply. You go out of town, you go to grandma's, whatever it is, you plug this into the wall, you plug the refrigerator into this. If the power goes out in 10 milliseconds, this kicks in and the refrigerator keeps going.
Okay.
Yeah, but pinball, I've already got a solar generator that does that. I do.
Sitting right over on the counter taking up counter space. Okay. And in my house, counter space is somewhat at a premium.
All right. We don't have a whole lot of counter space around here. All right.
Small house.
This is something that I can put on top of the fridge. As I said earlier, pretty much useless space to me that I could back up my power for my refrigerator with. Now, we're not talking big by any means. This is what, maybe 2 in high. I mean, here's my mouse.
It's twice as high as a mouse. It is oh, maybe about 20 21 in long. So, fits on top of a refrigerator and about a foot wide. Weighs about 47 lbs. Okay.
1,800 watts of power, 2016 watt hours. So, this is a midsize battery backup. That again, trying to figure out a refrigerator is a little tough depending on what type of refrigerator you have, how many times you open the door, etc., etc. But this should run your refrigerator for a good h 12 to 16 hours. No problem. You're at grandma's. The power goes out. Okay. You come home. Cool. It works like a solar generator battery at least with the exception of generating the power from the solar panel. It's got two plugs in the back. All right. So, you got a refrigerator and say a freezer next to it or something. Cool. Plug them both in. Off and running you go.
If you're going to be out of town for a long time, ah, there's a add-on battery that you can put on here, which I've got over on the side. I wasn't going to unbox it. Okay. Whereby you can now double this to 1,800 watts of power, 4,032 watt hours. Now, that'll keep you going for 2 and 1/2 days. Okay. 2 days. 2 and 1/2 days. They're about similar. Okay.
So, you're gone for the whole weekend.
You don't have to worry about food going bad.
Yeah, good idea. Going to take that.
But as always in the community, what we look at are other ways of using things.
Now, I'm no doubt going to say it fit perfectly on top of my refrigerator. I showed you that.
But let's say you live in a small apartment and you have a small bedroom or studio apartment or something and floor space is at a premium and I don't know you have a CPAP machine or you have oxygen that you need to be on in the evening something pick whatever you can tuck this in right behind the nightstand. Doesn't take up any floor space. You're not worried about tripping over kicking it in the in the dark.
And now if the power goes out in the middle of the night, your oxygen still works, your CPAP still works.
If it's out in the small apartment that you're in and maybe you've got a a lamp or whatever that you read paper, read a magazine, do a crossword puzzle, whatever. Leave the lights on.
Slides right behind the couch. No problem. Nobody ever sees it. Plug the lamp in. Poof. There you go. And you got power if the power goes out. Nice quiet hidden power.
your office, let's say at the office, at work, or if you've got a home office or whatever.
Have you ever had this happen where all of a sudden the power goes out at the office or the battery goes dead in your computer or anything and you were in the middle of putting this something together?
Let's think about PBJ in college, right?
you know, finishing up typing out whatever and the power goes out on the computer. Poof. You just lost everything if you hadn't saved it.
Oh, okay. I've got this plugged in as backup. I didn't lose all the data. I've still got power. All those gamers out there, how many times power ever gone out on you? Hook up your PlayStation or whatever you got to this. Plug this into the wall. You don't get interrupted in the middle of a game.
It's looking at different ways of doing things.
The size of this, the, as you can see, 2 in high is a huge benefit to tucking this away somewhere and getting it out of the way.
Like I said, it's not that heavy. 47 pounds ain't terrible. Okay, I could easily lift this and put it on the top of my refrigerator.
The big thing, of course, like I said, is you don't have the ability to hook this up to a solar panel and charge it. Doesn't mean you can't take a portable generator, take it outside, put it on your panels, and then plug that in and charge this off of that. That certainly can be done, too. This is the storage, okay? Where your generator is your storage and your collection, if you will, of the solar.
This is just the storage part. Okay.
Something to consider if you're tight on space, if you putting a Blue Eddie system together. Again, this is nice because you're going it's expandable. As I said, you can double it. The the uh what the hell is the thing called? I forget. The power cell 200 is same size as this.
Okay. So, you're now doubling your capacity. No big deal. Uh, it's workable by an app, but you don't have to because it also comes with a little display here that you can just stick on your refrigerator and that will give you all of what a solar generator usually has showing you on the front screen how much power it's got, what the battery is, how much you're using, etc., etc. Cuz it's not here, as you can see.
That's just showing you power, you know, the fact that it's on. Good. So you have a way to look at it there. If you want to check it from grandma's house, you can look.
Definite possibilities for people for the right situation if you're looking for it.
Okay.
It's at a good price because you don't have the charge controllers and everything like that in it. Okay. So you're you're not have have all the electronics in it.
It's the battery basically.
This this standalone unit right here is $759.
This comes out today via Blue Eddie's Kickstarter program. I believe they are going to be shipping these in about a month. I think it's somewhere around the beginning of June for the first was it I want to say 1300 or orders, but maybe it was 3,500. I'm not sure off the top of my head. If you want to get this and the blue cell 200, which is the added battery, 1398 bucks for the whole thing. Again, you could use this for the fridge. You can use this for a whole bunch of other stuff. So, just something new, something different that I wanted to show you. I again want to reiterate, you cannot hook this up to a solar panel, okay? You're not going to charge it that way. You've got to charge it via AC. Whether it's from the grid in the wall or whether you're plugging this into a exterior generator, you can charge them that way. But the whole point of this is for UPS for uninterrupted power supply.
So, if the power goes out, there's more power coming to your to your refrigerator, to your freezer, or then, as I said, to your medical device equipment, your lights, to your computer, whatever you decide to do with it. That is that. So, there's a new one for you. And yes, we're going to give one of these away on Tuesday night. Uh, so it'll be next week's live stream. I promise to be there for that one. Uh, 8:00 Eastern. In order to enter, you will have to put a comment below this video with your state in which you live in lower 48 only. And then I want to know what your favorite summer flower is in the comments. Okay? So those two things have to be in the comment. Primary comments only. Do not put it in a reply. Both things need to be there. Uh so that way it's a valid entry. It is must be present to win. As always, we will draw the winner in a live drawing right there in the live stream using a random comment picker. Whoever's name I draw, provided they put both of those criteria in their comment, will have 3 minutes to say that they are there, and they will win this specific unit, this one right here, cuz like I said, this is going up for pre-order today and then be shipped out in a month or so once they get all the pre-orders done.
Obviously, I have this one. This is the one you are getting. So, I will be sending it to you. So, there you go. If you're looking for something that is different than a solar generator, maybe it doesn't work for you, maybe you live in an apartment, you don't have anywhere to, you know, I'm I'm on the 12th floor of an apartment and I don't have a balcony or anything anywhere I can get solar. Here's a way to get yourself some backup power storage that you can take care of. Another idea. Wanted to show you that one. Have a good one, gang.
Roll out.
