In baseball, effective pitching strategy involves managing pitch counts, working counts, and making strategic decisions about when to use different pitches to retire batters while avoiding walks, especially in high-leverage situations with bases loaded.

What is going on everybody? Welcome to the NorCal Sports Report. Giants beginning a three-game weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Giants looking to win. That's what they have to do. They have to win because they're playing some very bad baseball. Nine games below 500. Worst record in Major League Baseball at the moment. Obviously with the worst record, their last place in the NL West. They've lost eight of their last nine games overall. And Pittsburgh is no slouch. Pittsburgh is solid this year. They're four games above 500. They're 2117. So, it's not going to be easy. Not to mention the Pirates always seem to have the Giants number at Oracle Park. Roy in general.
The Pirates always seem to have the Giants number. So, it's not going to be easy. This is a massive series for the Giants. So, we'll see what happens. It's Orange Friday, first game of three. They play today, tomorrow, and Sunday. And for the Giants, it's going to be Robbie Ray making the start. Giants need Robbie Ray to have a great start. Will be Robbie Ray's eighth start of the year this year. He's two and four with a 2.95 RA. He's pitched 39 and two thirds innings overall. As he's given up 28 hits, 13 earned runs, 14 walks, and 40 strikeouts in his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays. He went six and a third giving up three runs. And the Pirates lineup against Robbie Ray today will be Jared Triolo at third base leading off Nick Gonzalez second base batting second. Brian Reynolds former Giant prospect left field batting third.
Marcel Ozuna DH cleaning up. O'Neal Cruz center field batting fifth. Connor Griffin shortstop batting sixth. Joey Bart catcher batting seventh. York the first base and batting eighth. And Billy Cook the right fielder batting ninth.
Pirates line up goes right, right, switch, right, left, right, right, right. Right. The Pirates really loading up on their righties against the lefty.
Robin for the Giants. He'll be going against Carmen Ljinski. Ljinski's had a solid year. He's 2 and2 with a 4.76 year. He'll be making his seventh start of the year and 34 innings pitch. He's going up 34 hits, 19 runs, 18 of 13 walks, and 40ks in his last year against the Reds. He had five earned runs in five and two/3 innings. And the Giants line up against Kjinsky is a righty. So the Giants have Jung Hulu Lee in right field leading off. Luis Rise back in the lineup. Could see he's okay. Second base batting second. Casey Schmid to DH and he's banging third. Raphael Devers first base cleaning up. Matt Chapman third base batting fifth. Willie Adam short stop batting six. Both those guys.
Chapman Adamas have to get going. Haliot Ramis left field batting seventh. Drew Gilbert the center fielder batting eighth. And Jesus Rodriguez the catcher batting ninth. No Bryce Eldridge for some reason today. I don't know why the Giants are benching Bryce Eldridge but they are. And Bryce Eldridge is not in the lineup to start this to put for this game. Will be coming off the bench if anything. So I don't get why they're doing that. They should play Eldridge every single day in my opinion, but they are not. So Eldidge is on the bench for the Giants. Giants goes left, left, right, left, right, right, right, left, and right. The reason Eldidge not being the line make no sense is because they got a righty on the mound. So why not get him some play? But nope, he's on the bench. Not going to question it. But their first bet should be in a couple misses. Go over some early chatters here. pony to what's going on. I did see that. I did see Canvas got hacked. A good thing my school is not a Canvas school. It's a desire to learn school, a D2L school. So, canvas has no effect on me. Bing stream pony told Daniel voice highlights. Happy Friday. Happy Friday, Daniel. Appreciate you stopping by.
Giants nation 210. I'm back. Welcome back, Giants Nation. Hopefully, your presence can force a Giants victory. I'm not sure though because this team is not that good. So, the forecast today is 57° and partly cloudy with 13 mph winds here on Friday night. So, it's pretty chilly at Oracle. Let's test game audio real quick.
>> Testing game audio real quick. Give me 10 seconds and I'll be right back.
All right, we are good and all set. Just about the way here. Four, five people in here already. Hit that like button if you have not already done so. Our like goal tonight is 20. Hit that thumbs up button if you have not already done so.
We already got three likes before the game's even started, which is solid. So, hit that thumbs up button if you have not done so. It's free and it helps me out a ton. mostly the only game we're live for in this series, but Giants play the Dodgers in a four game series Monday through Thursday. Next week, we'll be live for every single game of that four game series for Giants Dodgers. So, >> only one stream for this series, which is tonight, but the Giants next series against the Dodgers, every single game will be live for. So, if that sounds a chicken to you, subscribe as well. Turn on post notifications as well so you get notified whenever we go live.
>> So, Robbie Ray's pitch arsenal, those four pitches, very simple. fast ball almost 50% of the time. Was a slider or a change of knuckle curve.
>> Knuckle curve is very rare. Top batted by 95 96 >> with the fast.
>> The Pirates in their black uniforms with the gold text. Giants in their orange Fridays. Very nice uniform match up in the first pitch of the ball game. Right on time. Gray two triolo and it's a curveball missing down and away for ball one.
>> So we get started. Actually, we can start a minute early. Wow, that might be the first time we got started early this year.
>> 10 pitch to Triolo is on the outside corner for strike one.
Triolo betting 194 this year. He doesn't have many at bats.
>> 194 with this one RBI. He's one for two a lifetime against Robbie Ray. A right-handed batter is Triolo. 1-1 outside just a bit.
>> Two and one. Gonzalez played umpire.
>> Manny Gonzalez the home plate umpire >> tonight. The full umpire and coup. Manny Gonzalez at home. Jacob Mes the first place umpire. Tom Hanahan the second base umpire and Scott Barry the third base umpire.
>> Triolo takes one right at the knees.
Good slider.
>> Two and two.
>> Heroku. What's going on? Says godamn what's up with this lineup. Debor crabman Adamus. Yeah. And no Eldridge.
The lineup is very interesting to me. I do not like it.
Cham and Domus back to back too.
>> Two two pitch to Gio is a high fly ball to left center.
>> Gilbert towards left makes the catch and a fly out to center is how this game gets started.
>> Good start for Robbie Ray.
>> And we take a look at the full Giants defense. First and left try in the F.
It'll be Ramos, Gilbert, and Lee. Third to first on the infield. Chapman, Adamus, Arise and Devers. And the catcher in the squad is Jesus Rodriguez.
>> I agree. Rodriguez should not be banging knife.
>> He's shown so much. He should be banging much harder than knife.
>> Got to get Elij Rodriguez in there every single day. I don't care who you bench, but those two guys have to be in there every single day.
>> Here's Nick Gonzalez has had a very solid season so far. Takes a first pitch fast ball up and away from ball one.
Gonzalez 309 on the year. 17 RBI, no home runs.
Been very solid this year. Playing second base today. a good year hitting 309 >> when a pitch swing and a miss high fast ball >> one and one >> Pirates just took two of three from the Dbacks so they're playing some good ball >> as I said they're 21 and 17 four games above 500 this is no >> slouch is not the same Pittsburgh Pirates >> the one-1 >> in the dirt >> change up two and one's lifetime against right two for three >> with an RBI I'm I'm getting to that point too with Desmond not being in the lineup together ever.
>> I'm getting to that point too. Like today I think today especially you should have given Adamus a day off.
>> I think that pitch is up high. Three and one >> with an RBI.
Damn >> it. I'm getting to that point. Okay.
>> Brian Reynolds on deck. 3-1. Gonzalez takes a strike >> at the knees and the count goes full.
>> Audio is available.
>> There's Don Kelly, the Pirates manager.
Took over as the intern last year and stayed as the manager this year for Pittsburgh.
>> 3-2 pitch. Gonzalez takes ball four.
Fast ball misses up and away. And that's the first base runner of the ball game.
Will not walk.
That'll bring Brian Reynolds.
>> So, the first base runner of the game.
>> Probably see it at some point tonight, Heroku.
>> We'll probably see that at some point.
Nine people in here already. Hit that like button if you haven't already done so.
>> We can get to seven likes, I think, before the end of this half inning. So, hit that thumbs up if you have not already. Free helps me. I like goals 20 tonight. Reynolds takes one right down the middle curve.
>> Strike one.
>> Always seems to be around the 300 mark.
Reynolds, a switch hitter, former Giants prospect as well.
>> Pirates, they grant to a lot of double plays as a team. They've granted to 36 double plays this year, which is the most in Major League Baseball. Giants have turned 37 double plays, which is the fourth most in baseball. Double play ball here for Chapman. He goes to second rise to first. And as I say that, that's a 543 double play.
>> Spoken into existence. How about it? No score. Giants coming up bottom first.
It's one two three inferray.
Wow. Smoking into existence.
543 double play. Just like that be Jung Hu Lee, Luis Rise and Casey Schmidt do up against Carmen Ljinski.
What nationality is Ljinski? How many?
That might be Polish. Honestly, it's always the skis. Is it Polish doesn't say site legs national?
It's bullish. Yeah, another pole.
You got wings stop. Oh, maybe the wing stop will be a good luck charm.
man. Oh man.
Polls already got eight votes. 75% for the Giants and 25% for the Pirates winning tonight.
See what happens here. All right, we're back.
>> You can see Lisa is back. He spent the last two days on the bench nursing a sore finger after a swing he had. But he's back in the lineup tonight after three days off consecutively.
There's Carmen Ljinsky. As I said, he's our righty. be making his seventh start, eighth appearance overall, 2 and2 to 4.76. He's only given up one home run, so he does not really give up the long ball at all. He's in his third year at the big league level out of University of South Carolina.
>> Take a look at the pitch arsenal of throws a splitter. That's his main pitch. A splitter, a fast ball, and a sinker. Those his three top pitches. is he also throws a curveball, a sweeper, and a very rare flop out by about 97.
First pitch he throws is to Jung Hu Lee and he misses up high for ball one. Lee bing 263 on the season with two homers and 12 runs bad in one pitch. Lee smokes one to right.
Billy Cook right there for out number one.
>> Quick work of the lead off batter and that'll bring up ice. brought to you by personal injury law.
>> Take a look at the Pirates defense here.
First and left in the AW Reynolds, Cruz, and Cook. Third to first in the infield.
Triolo, Connor Griffin, Nick Gonzalez, and Nick York. Trio will go over at third and Joey Bart in the squad putting on the signs of catcher.
>> So, Luis Arise takes a strike going one. He >> had no plans to swing at whatever pitch that was.
Good to see him back.
>> All right, it's 316 >> on the season.
>> No homers, 11 runs bad.
>> The one >> arise hits one the other way to left and making a sliding catch is Brian Reynolds.
>> And those are two quick outs on four pitches.
So, two outs. And here's >> number of Casey Schmidt.
>> Giants enjoyed a day off yesterday.
>> Casey Schmidt. He's been swinging a hot mat. Homer twice in the Padre Series.
Each of those homers in his first at bat.
>> So, we'll see what he can do in his first at bat here tonight against the Pirates. And the first bet Schmid sees a sweeper right in there for strike one.
Schmidt 296 on the year with six homers. He's 0 for two lifetime with a strike out against Carmen Wjinski. 01 on the ground to third.
>> Jared Triola the gold glover across the diamond in time. That's a six pitch first inning.
>> Bjinski no score after one. Ozuna Cruz and Griffin coming up for the Pirates Rob.
So every batter that inning for the Jets retired on two pitches.
So, not a good start for the offense.
Ozuna from the Braves is no longer a Brave, but it was from the Pirates now.
We'll lead it off.
So, if you're watching, also feel free to chat.
Try to respond to all the chats once again. If you just stopped in, this will be the only game this series that we're live for. But for the Giants next series against the Dodgers, we'll be live for every single game, all four games of that series. So, tune in for that. But for this series, this is the only game we'll be live for. But every game for the Dodgers series will be live for Monday through Thursday.
Who is the Giants even play this weekend? I don't even know.
Is it the White Socks? I don't know why I think it's the White Socks. It might be. No, they got the A's this weekend.
So, we'll see our schedule for that.
Again, I'll post a stream schedule at some point.
Yeah, that's a Yeah, at least no strikeouts.
I mean, strike probably would have been better because he would have gotten more pitches, but the ball in play. I've been to a few Giants games. I've been to two I've been to two games at Oracle, which was in two Giants Dodgers games, back-to-back days. My one time ever in San Francisco. That was in 2022.
It's a two Giants Dodgers game. Giants got killed 10 nothing in one of them, then they won the next one. And then I've been to many Giants or games. I've been to the Giants Mets games at City Field, Giants Phillies games, Giants Nationals. I've been to Um, Giants Pirates I've been to in Pittsburgh, obviously. So, I've been to many Giants games and I'm going this year to Giants Cubs at Wrigley, so I'm looking forward to that.
My first time at Wrigley.
So, I've been to many Giants games, but only two home games ever. I betwing.com.
So, Marcelo Zuna will lead things off for the Braves and the the not the Braves, the Pirates.
>> I was thinking Ozuna from the Braves, but no, he's no longer a Brave. Anyways, first pitch he sees is down and away from Bowen. I was in a buck 86. Three homers, 13 RBI. Know he has a ton of power. He swings and misses on a slider here. One and one.
Lifetime against Robbie Ray. He has a lifetime home run against him. He's five for 21 with a home run and one RBI. So, it's a solo shot.
>> I'm done with school. I got home from school. Home from college Monday.
>> The one >> Ozuna swinging and that's not a change up.
>> One and two.
>> Zuna's been horrible on the road this year. Just 085 >> though. One two pitch. Ozuna golfs one to deep left field. That pitch is almost in the dirt and Ozuna hits it out. Wow.
Fourth of the year.
One- nothing Pirates.
>> That's the second time he's hit a home run off Robbie Ray in his career.
>> Well, it's not a either.
>> I did, too. I actually worked I got worked an eight hour shift today. So, not hours, but I worked an eight hour shift today. Welcome to the stream, Shard Doll. She just gone home from that [ __ ] >> like an hour ago.
>> Welcome in, Shard Doll. Hopefully your day of work went well. First pitch to O'Neal Cruz is a slider outside for ball one. Cruz used to be a shortstop, but now he's the everyday center fielder for this Pirates team.
>> Little one pitch.
>> That one just a bit outside.
>> Two and0. Cruz a left-handed batter. The only lefty >> in this Pirates lineup.
20 right down the middle. Two and one.
>> Fifth grader Giants fan. All right. Last day of school is June 5th.
>> Home runs this year.
>> Real estate school's on a Oh, that's a Friday. Yeah. 2-1. Cruz hits one the other way to left and that's going to get down. Nice cut off by Ramos and Ramos going to hold Cruz to a single.
>> Cruz.
>> Back to back hits for Pittsburgh though.
Well, MLB Plus is new for 2026. You can stream.
>> So, one on nobody out there. I'll bring up Connor Griffin, the Pirates top prospect.
>> Paul Skins is probably the one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
>> He's fun to watch. I like Paul. I wish we were seeing Paul Sker. He's always fun to watch.
>> So, Connor Griffin, first pitch to Griffin is hit to left field again. Base hit. Three hits in a row.
>> Three hits in a row. Cruz trying to get to third. That was a terrible decision as he's out by a mile.
>> I don't know why Cruz is trying to go to third there.
>> That was a very stupid play. Cruz is thrown out of third by Heli Ramos.
That's a break for the Giants. And that is one away.
>> Griffin at first.
>> Never make the first or third out of third. And Cruz just made the first out of third. So that's very, very stupid of him.
It's >> massive for the Giants.
>> So Joey Bart comes up. First pitch to Bart will be a pick off to first.
Griffin gets back. Griffin has eight stolen bases on the year. So he is definitely a threat to go.
>> Probably test the arm of Jesus Rodriguez if I had to guess.
>> B 220 this year. Two homers, four runs bad in now. The first pitch to Bart is a nice curve off the knee zone one.
>> Ray has to pay close attention to obviously a former Giant was the Giants, one of the Giants top prospects. Then he came up and he was a massive let down.
The Giants ded him and the Pirates picked up. He's been solid for the Pirates his career there so far. 01 Bart swing and a Minnesota slider 0 and2 >> Barts behind the plate with >> another catcher by the name of >> Ray has lifetime only against Robbie Ray no Bart has lifetime only Ray has lifetime only against Joey Bart man one for six with five strikeouts is Bart lifetime against Ray time Ray's gone him out it's been via a strikeout that pitch is up in one and two >> Davis Oh yeah, I think the Valkyries.
Don't they play tonight? The Valksies do play tonight. I'm not sure.
>> I think I saw something saying that they played tonight or at least sometime this weekend.
>> The one-two pitch to Bart.
>> Runner goes swinging a miss. Strike three. Rodriguez's throw is not even close.
>> But strike on number one for Robbie Ray.
Two.
So Bart now one for seven lifetime against Robbie Ray with six strikeouts.
>> I'd say that's ownage.
>> First strike out.
>> And I'll bring up Nick York, the first baseman.
>> Here's Nick York.
>> Nick York. First pitch he sees from Robbie Ray is hit the other way to right >> down the line and foul. 0 and one.
York batting 221 on the year with one home run and six runs batting.
>> And people in here, hit that like button. We've been at five likes for a while. So, hit that thumbs up button if you haven't already done so. It's going to help me a ton.
>> So, hit that like button. We at five likes. Steady at that number for a while. Let's get it higher.
Griffin the runner at second. 01 pitch to York is inside just a bit.
>> Pitch is tight. One and one.
>> York first round pick by the Red Sox.
>> Oh, they play right now. They're down 24-23.
No, they're up 2423 to the Storm.
>> The 1-1 York swing and I missed. Good fast ball.
>> One and two on the year. He's hitting 21 with a home run.
>> Pitch number 30 coming up here for Robbie Ray.
>> And the one-two pitch to Nick York is Phop straight back. He stays alive.
>> Still one and two >> verum. You got Billy Cook on deck and Griffin second has great speed. He got there via still in base. Gray looks the second >> the one two >> York again fouls one back.
>> Still one and two.
>> Oh, Storm. Okay, Storm. Yeah, I was right the first time. Storm are up.
24-23.
So, another one two coming up.
Ray fires. Runner goes again and York strikes out swinging.
One run on three hits and one left on for Pittsburgh. And going to the bottom of the second, it's one- nothing Pirates as they scored on a solo home run for Marcelo Zuna.
The Giants can respond. Probably not because you know who's coming up. The heart of the order. It's a very strong heart of the order. This is sarcasm, by the way. Devils, Chapman, and Adamus.
Three guys back to back. So, we'll see.
Bet you I know exactly what's going to happen. Probably probably all going to strike out.
You're exhausted, Shaw. I don't think the Giants's going to help you get awake. They're boiling sleepy ball club.
Sleepy Giants. The Sleepy Giants.
And Giants have lost eight of their last nine games.
KM.
Don't add an S there.
Do not add an S after the KM.
Six people up in here. up in here. Still only got five likes.
Come on now. All right, we're back.
>> Yeah.
Island.
>> So, Rafie Divers lay things off for the Giants in about a second. Devers has been swinging kind of a hot bat in the Giants last game.
>> First pitch to Devers is right in there for strike on a fast ball.
D's 0 for one lifetime against Mujinski.
>> Hitting 221. He's got three home runs, 15 runs batted in >> 01 pitch to Rafie Divers is on the inside corner again. Almost the same spot.
>> Oh, and two.
>> So, this is already going to be the longest bat of the night for the Giants so far.
>> Home runs.
>> Yo, two Deers takes one very high.
One and two.
Denver's 221 on the year with three homers and 15 runs bad in >> Chapman and then Adonis.
>> The Giants drank the sweetie juice a long time ago. Des high drive center field cruise back kiss it goodbye Devers for the second straight game.
Maybe Devils is starting to feel it.
>> Fourth of the year for Devils. As I said, that's back toback games with the homer for Rafie Devers out to dead center. And the Giants answer right back. It's one to one.
>> And our Matt Chapman >> de Chapman takes a first pitch. Trike on the outside corner and one.
>> Chapman in a horrible slump.
>> Bang. 234 on the air, but it's been a very bad stretch for Matt Chapman.
01 up high. One and one the count.
>> Shade high to make it a strike.
have an 0 for two of the walk lifetime against the 1-1 >> outside two and one >> extremely quiet is with a couple of these giants are trying to figure it out on the fly day off >> 2-1 there's a breaking ball that runs inside and Chapman >> rush the count to three and one. Chapman hasn't worked many walks this year, but he has a chance to work one year. Maybe that'll get him going if he were to do that.
>> Straight line, Chapman actually leads the team in walks.
>> Anyways, there's a strike on the outside corner three and two.
The Giants are last in baseball walks and Chapman show how many how few walks the Giants take as a team. Chapman has the most walks in the Giants. He only has 14. So that just shows how few walks the Giants taken >> this year. They only taken 72 as a team, which is last by a wide margin.
>> In baseball 3-2, >> Chapman ground ball to third. Jared >> Triola gets him >> one away. So they will now work a walk.
Take a look and bring out the plate at the bell. A good pitch to hit back this thing right over the wall. And he knew it as soon as he hit it. I mean, he's starting to measure.
>> First pitch to Adamus.
>> That's true.
>> Is right down the middle for strike one.
Here's Adamus.
>> Damus batting just a buck 94 this year.
He like Chapman is in a very bad slump.
Three home runs, six RBI for Adamus.
It's a 232 on base percentage.
He It's a skyhigh popup. First base Nick York on the outfield grass makes the catch >> by York >> for route number two.
I started to say Papa may have some personality, but not so very nicely done. And here's Ramos.
>> Abraham Elliot Ramos.
>> That's the other thing, too. You know, when you start to come out of a slump, you don't want a lot of publicity because you've been cold for so long.
>> Just want to kind of sneak back into >> I think it was a fast ball, Heroku. I got to go back and look at it. I think it was a fast ball though. First pitch to Heliot Ramos is a strike at the knees one.
>> Good question. Was it a fast ball?
>> Take a look at exactly where the pitch was that he hit out on game day.
>> 01 pitch to Ramos.
He is down low. One and one.
>> Just watching the first six hitters.
I'm swinging at the first pitch.
Not afraid to come in and challenge and get that 01 advantage. I mean, that's a philosophy.
>> Ever hit a home run on a sinker right down the middle. So, you got a fast ball.
1-1. Ramos ground ball diving stop by the shorts stop Connor Griffin and he got him. Nice play.
>> And that'll end the inning.
>> But the Giants tie the game thanks to a Rafie De solo homer after two. One to one. Deers. Bye-bye baby.
>> It's a good answer back for the Giants.
One run on one hit. No one left on 9112 and I'll be right back.
Hold me close till I get up. Time is belly on side.
I don't want to waste what's left.
The storms we chase are leading us. And love is all we'll ever trust. Yeah. No, I don't want to waste what's left.
And we go through the wastelands, through the highways, till my shadow turns the sun raise. And on and on we'll go through the wastelands, through the highways. And and on we Oh, we go finding life along the way. Melodies we haven't played.
No, I don't want no rest.
Echoing around these walls, fighting.
>> All right, we're back here.
>> Billy Cook leads things off. N0 hitter for the Pirates. He takes a first pitch ball shown bunt. One and0.
>> Billy Cook bluffs a bunt, takes a strike. It's one to one.
>> Billy Cook >> four for 17 on the year. Actually, he took a strike. So it's 0 and one count to Cook >> and he only pushed two of that swing MS and two >> as I said Cook four of 17 this year doesn't have a home run doesn't have an RBI struck out six times walked zero times >> in 25 games that is >> Kelly >> oh you guys love that song 02 swing and I miss strike three a three pitch strike out third strike out in a row for Robbie Ray 12 at the top of the order in Jared >> Triola >> was the second strike out victim for Sergio Romo in the >> Don Kelly 42nd manager in Pirates history. First pitch to Trio on his second at bat is Guide Foul.
>> Sher flew out to center field his first time. Absolutely. He's 0 for one.
>> I'm a good man. Thank you. Oh, I like root beer floats. Yes, I do. Root beer floats are good.
>> They taste very nice.
>> I love root beer floats.
>> How did Sergio Romo get the two?
>> Ow. Triolo fouls one away again.
>> Oh, two.
>> Bottom of the ninth inning in Detroit game four, the 2012 World Series. And the answer is, well, he struck out the set. I mean, how cool is that to end the season?
>> Nick Gonzalez is on deck and the two pitch to Jared Triola.
>> Ray fires. That one misses up and away.
One and two.
>> He'll be right. They need that.
>> They have to win this series.
This >> is as close to a must-win series you can get in the month of May.
Got to win this series.
>> One, two, swing and a miss. Strike three on the change up. Four consecutive strikes for Ray. Two down just away. Kelly swings through it.
>> Seeing pitches like that is really dialing. Ever since giving up that home run ever since giving up that those three consecutive hits, I should say he struck out >> four batters in a row. Here's Nick Gonzalez taking the first pitch up and away for ball one.
>> What was that pitch? Two seat fast, but he you know he had a low three release.
Did the wind take it?
>> Gonzalez worked the walk his first time up. So he's not had a fish at >> bat.
>> Greatest content creator ever. for 1.
>> That's an honor. Thank you, Shard. I don't think I'm the greatest content creator ever, but >> appreciate your compliment.
>> Love to hear that.
>> 202 Gonzalez swinging a miss. Two and one. Good change up.
>> Change up looks good tonight for Ry.

You're all free. 2-1 up high with a fast ball. Three in one.

>> The ball won. That double play was a 543. Chapman arise to devers.
Third to second to first.
The 1.
Swinging a miss. High fast ball. One and one. Lots of swing and misses tonight for the Pirates.
Pirates have three hits. Giants have one. Both of the runs in this game scored via solo shots. One for Marcelo Zuna for Pittsburgh and one for Raphael Devers for the Giants.
>> One-1.
>> Runner goes and Rodriguez drops the ball. So no throw to second.
>> Two and one the count. And a man in scoring position. That's Gonzalez's third steal of the year.
>> So, so far the Pirates are running all over Rodriguez.
>> No, you >> I do not like K-pop. I think I talk about that stream not too long ago. I'm not a K-pop guy. Think K-pop is horrible.
Two-1 to Brian Reynolds and Roy will step off. So Robbie Ray and Luis Srise chasing Gonzalez back.
It's a two-1 count to Brian Reynolds with Marcelo Zuna on deck.
That was very high. Three and one.
Reynolds a switch hitter batting from the right side against a lefty Robbie Ray.
See what Ray goes to here on this 3-1.
Swinging in on this good change up.
That's what he went to.
>> Full count.
>> Reynolds was thinking about >> Kanye is good. Kanye has good music.
I'll say that.
>> At second is Gonzalez.
>> 3-2 pitch to Reynolds.
And that's a very high fast ball. Misses very high >> for ball force. So that's back to back walks >> issued by Robbie Ray >> each with two outs as first and second.
Two out for Marcelo Zuno who homeed his last time up.
>> It's not what Tony Bella wanted to see.
>> Two out walks suck especially shoot two consecutive two out walks.
>> Took him deep in his last bat.
becomes a big bat this game.
>> So the first pitch to Ozuna >> is on the inside corner. Good change up.
>> O and one and one.
>> Gonzalez at second. Ronald's our first of the biggest runners.
01 down low. One and one >> deck is O'Neal Cruz.
>> There's O'Neal Cruz on the on deck circle. He has a ton of power, so you don't want to see him with the bases loaded.
>> Couple of strikeouts and a couple of walks.
>> Things start off very well for Rice, striking out the first two batters, but then he's walked two straight.
>> Pitch count's a bit up there. This will be pitch number 54 up high. Ozuna checked his swing. Two in one.
Be the 23rd pitch of the inning coming up here.
>> Two and one.
>> Two-1.
Not even close. Another fast ball that's missed very high. Seems like he's lost control of that fast ball a bit. Three in one. Can't walk. Ozuna. You can't walk. Three batters to load the base and two for O'Neal Cruz. Cannot do that. Got to get him out.
>> This is going to be a challenge pitch.
So is probably going to swing away.
>> 3-1.
>> Nope. Ball four again. Another high fast ball that misses.
>> That's three consecutive walks. Base is loaded.
>> And Hazes is going to come out and talk to Ray. That's four walks overall tonight.
>> Yeah. Base is loaded. Rowley for free.
literally >> also give Robbie Ray a little bit of a breather >> just a message the pitching coach will also come out to talk to Ray so has >> totally falling apart Robbie >> Ray just kind of put a positive thought in his head >> oh yeah I watch him baby he's a good channel he's a good Giants channel >> say listen why don't you adjust your sights instead of looking for >> itchy try and throw it at your catcher's foot you get that ball down because right now you don't want to provide opportunity by way of a hang to a guy with the power that O'Neal Cruz ton of power. So this is a very dangerous spot for Robbie Ray.
Cruz singled his first time up. So he's one for one.
First pitch to O'Neal Cruz with a bases loaded. Two out is a ground ball foul.
and one of the bat foulas.
The third base coach will retrieve it.
>> The base runners at third, Reynolds at second, Ozuna at first. All of them getting on base via the walk. Each with two outs.
You one swinging a miss. Zone two.
Pirates haven't put a ball in play this inning.
So >> struck out twice and they've walked three times.
>> Home runs for each lefty in the NL this year. Only did that Cruz and O'Neal Cruz >> top of that list. The fun thing about Cruz is he's a lefty >> on that list.
>> 02 down and away. That was a change up. One and two.
>> That was a good pitch, but a good take.
>> Three sliders in a row.
problem with bases loaded is if you're going to go inside, I mean, you don't want to risk hitting a hitter.
>> Pitch number 60 coming up here for Robbie Ray. This is a big one.
>> Regardless of bases loaded or not, >> one two pitch to Cruz and he goes inside and Cruz gets jammed and fouls it away. Still one and two.
>> Well, at least in the >> 2021. Oh, you're an OG.
OG viewer, Giants Nation, appreciate you.
>> Well, he just made an impression going in on his hands like that.
>> Doesn't have to be a strike here.
>> It didn't feel good. You either go away or you back it up.
>> The one two Cruz again stays alive by tapping one foul. Still one and two.
Just getting that pitch coming up right now. I mean, this is this is competition going on here.
>> Guys, don't think right trust that fast ball right now.
>> He's not throwing it.
>> Another one, two to O'Neal Cruz outside. That was a fast ball. It was a good pitch, >> but Cruz lays off two and two, but >> it was a bit outside.
Two, two. Got him swinging with the slaughter. Ray strikes out the side.
891 coming up for the Giants. Gilbert, Rodriguez, and Lee. So that inning, three walks, three strike casts. Prior to see the bases load without putting a ball in play.
So that was a weird inning, but no run score. That's the important part. But Ray's pitch is very high now.
Good job getting out of that by Robbie Ray.
Yeah, I know. Tonight is that K-pop firework night. Saw that. Disappointing.
Disappointing stuff. By the way, hit that like button if you already done so.
We're three like we got nine people here. We're three likes away from 10. So we can get to double digits. That'll be good. we'd be halfway to our light goal 20. So, hit that thumbs up button if you haven't already done so. It's free and it helps me to be left for Giants baseball all summer long.
It was stressful and it didn't need to be stressful. Ray made it stressful for himself. No, I'm not going to watch tomorrow. I'm going to bed after this game's over.
Going to bed.
Just getting Giants will play tomorrow.
That game tomorrow starts at 9:05 p.m. Eastern time, 6:05 p.m. Pacific.
Then Sunday on Mother's Day, they play the day game finale at 4:05 p.m.
Eastern, 10:5 p.m. Pacific. because this is the only game this series will be live for. But the Giants next series against the Dodgers in LA will be live for all four games Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. So stay tuned for that. Live for all four games of the Dodger series. Hopefully that series goes just like the first one did. We'll see. I don't think it will, but we'll see. All right, back. The pregame show presented by your Bay Area Chevrolet dealers.
>> So Drew Gilbert, the eight hole hitter will leave things off for the Giants in the bottom of the third. First pitch to Gilbert is a sinker on the outside corner for strike one.
Gilbert 259 on the season in 19 games. Two home runs, five RBI.
Swinging a miss. Loses his helmet. Good splitter. Oh, and two.
>> Why?
>> Cuz I'm on the East Coast. This game's going to be over by like 1:00 a.m.
>> More than likely for a long time.
>> I don't want I tune into your recap. I'll watch your recap in the morning.
O2 Gilbert highf fly ball. It's a popup actually. The shorts stop. Griffin on the outfield of grass makes the catch for route number one.
>> And the only people that participated defensively pay Rodriguez.
>> Well, check out the Giants talk podcast presented by Vanc World covering all the Giants news and you can listen to >> Rodriguez has looked good >> in the standing majors. Went four for nine in his first series against the Padres's with a home run and two RBI. So he looks good so far.
>> See if he can keep swinging this at bat here. First pitch to Rodriguez is a ground ball foul.
>> Third base side and oneoulriguez is overtaken Bailey for the everyday catcher spout which is good. Very good.
>> Very good news.
>> See that's the case. Bailey's on the bench again today.
The 01 Rodriguez takes a sweeper inside.
>> One and one the countdown.
>> There's Paul Skins. He's not pitching >> in this series, >> but he's here, but he's not going to be pitching.
>> The one-1 inside. Did he check his swing? Rodriguez did check his swing.
First base umpire Jacob Mets making that call.
>> Two and one.
See if the Giants can work a walk.
I think. Yeah, I think you're right. I think Bailey only has like five or six hits this year. Already has four.
>> That was tap foul two and two.
>> I want to see a walk. Giants haven't worked a walk in two games.
>> Can I see a walk here? That would be nice.
>> Both those guys combined.
>> He had two palms in rehab yesterday.
Yeah, Bailey's time here is over.
Rodriguez and Susack are going to be the two catchers.
Once Susak gets back, Bailey might get DF8. Actually, he probably has options.
He can get sent down, I think. I think he has options.
>> The two two down and away. A splitter.
Three into the count.
Jung Le, the top of the order on deck.
Yeah, Bailey has options here. So, yeah.
And when Susack comes back, Bailey should be sent down. Should be Susack and Rodriguez. DFA Eric. I don't care about him.
>> Rodriguez the other way. He's been doing that all the time. And Rodriguez has another hit.
Man, this guy is impressive.
>> He loves going opposite field as well.
>> That's his fifth hit of his career.
>> One out single.
>> Boy, he really puts his forehead on the ball.
>> One out single to right field. And then I'll bring up Jungu Lee.
>> They've always been bragging with the Yankees organization and then the Giants organization. This kidre >> Jung Lee lined out to right field his first time up so he's 0 for one but he hit the ball very hard right >> first pitch to Lee is down low for ball one may have hit the hardest ball of the night caught >> that hit for Rodriguez was the second hit of the night for the Giants >> only other hit was a de solo homeridence at >> Pirates have three hits and all three of those hits for the Pirates came in in the top of the second.
>> You hit a bullet like he did off a guy.
You're seeing the ball. Well, >> the one Lee hits another one. This one's going to fall in front of Billy Cook.
Rodriguez is going to go to third. He'll get there.
>> And it's first and third. One out. So Lee hits that one harder, but this time not right at Cook. That's backto-back singles for the Giants. They have the corners of one out.
Another ball smoked off the bat of Jung Hu Lee.
And that'll bring up Luis Or is the exact guy you want up in an RBI situation like this cuz he'll put the ball in play for eyes.
>> This is the guy you want up here.
>> Rodriguez at third. Lee at first of the biggest fenders. First pitch to arise who flew out to left his first time up.
Is a strike right down the middle.
taking only one.
>> He has good speed, but he does not have a stolen base yet this year.
and Majonski will step off.
Yo, one door to arise is on the ground to second. Could be a double play. 463 >> double play >> and that ends the inning. So after three Giants, Empire is tied at one. Griffin, Bart, and York coming up.
So I mean, Arise puts the ball in play, but that's not what we want to do in that situation. Ground ball right to the second baseman.
Oh man.
So two hits, no runs, one left on That stings Connor Griffin will leave things off of the Paris top of the fourth.
Still stuck at seven likes. Come on now.
Should be at least 10 likes, I think, by now.
This place are knocking her like goal.
So, hit that thumbs up button if you like what you're seeing. It'll take 5 seconds at a time. It's free. Helps me out a ton. Helps out with engagement.
More likes equals more times YouTube recommends this stream to people just scrolling through. So, more likes equals more recommendations, which leads to more viewers, which leads to more subscribers. You get the gist. So, take two seconds of your time. Nothing to lose. Hit that thumbs up button because why not?
Why not? Sto that can happen.
A little birdiey's telling me as well, if we get to 20 likes, the Giants going to win this game. A little birdie saying that to me.
A little birdie said that. So 20 likes equals the Giants win. Guaranteed.
Do you trust this birdie? I don't know if you trust this birdie, but there's only one way to find out the birdie's trustworthy by getting the Tony likes. All right, we're back.
>> A little dramatic with the three walks, but he was still able to make pitches.
>> So, Conor Griffin leads things off with the Pirate. Shows Bunny and he got a piece of it. It's a foul ball.
>> Griffin one for one. He singled his first time up on the first pitch he saw and he also stole a base.
Bang.
>> Two accounts. How about that? Good.
Thank you, Aoku.
>> That pitch is on the outside corner and two.
>> If you have bot accounts, use your bot accounts to get those likes up. I don't care what you do. Use your bot accounts.
Use whatever accounts you have.
O2 pierce to Connor Griffin.
And he got him swinging. Man, Robbie Ray striking everyone out. That's his sixth of the night.
>> Six straight outs for Robbie Ray recorded via the K. The Pirates haven't put a ball in play >> in nine batters.
>> And now bring up Joey Bart.
slash >> first pitch to Joey Bart is inside a change up for ball one >> Bart struck out. So he was the first ray strike victim.
>> I mean that's my humble opinion.
>> Yeah, >> you agreed with me when I said you can't have too many tote bags. So I have to agree with >> Bar hits a high fly ball. Foul territory out of play. One and one.
>> I mean, you can >> put a phone finger in a tote bag.
>> That's true.
>> There's some fans who got the ball.
>> Crew.
>> Jung-ho crew.
Why does any house have a ball in his hand? What? What is he doing? Making some running gestures.
>> What are you doing, Manny?
What's going on behind that play? Manny Gonzalez down and in two and one the count to Joey Barts away from Rodriguez.
>> I think when you're wrestling with your your command, I mean, you're making a a little bit of a correction after every pitch. night. Every pitch you throw, you evaluate and then you make >> is the sixth Giants pitcher since 1974 to issue three walks and also strike out the side in one inning. He did that in the third. That pitch is outside three count.
>> So, let's not do that this inning. Let's not walk three guys.
>> I want my striking out the side again, but don't walk three guys. The 3-1.
Bart smokes one to left field right at Ramos.
>> Two out.
Ramos in the perfect spot.
Hey, the Pirates put a ball in play though.
>> Joey Bart, >> this is Arby's quarter pound pulled pork.
>> Nick York.
>> Okay, it's getting Arby's pulled pork sandwich out in the middle of an at bat.
Nice. Here's Nick York. He struck out swinging his first time up, so he's 0 for one.
First pitch to Nick York is a change up on the outside corner 0 and one >> struck out in the second inning. He was Robbie Ray's second strikeout victim.
He's got six so far in this game.
>> 01 York ground ball to third. Routine play for Matt Chapman >> and that'll on the inning.
>> One, two, three frame for Robbie Ray.
Bottom fourth coming up 1-1 Schmidt Deers Chapman 234 coming up for the Giants and I'll be right back.
Hold me close till I get up. Time is belly on our side.
I don't want to waste what's left.
The storms we chase are leading us. And love is all we'll ever trust. Yeah. No, I don't want to waste what's left.
And we go through the wastelands, through the highways, till my shadow turns the sun raise. And on we'll go through the wastelands, through the highways. And and on we Oh, we go finding life along the way. Melodies we haven't played.
No, I don't want no rest.
Echoing around these walls, fighting a song.
>> All right, we're back here.
>> Ron Washington, >> Giants bench coach.
>> Love Ron Washington. He's always been a great guy. long baseball career.
>> Casey Schmidt will lead things off in the bottom of the four to take the first pitch down low for ball one. Schmidt 0 for one today. He ran at the third his first time up.
One pitch to Schmidt for Majinski is low again. in two and0 strikes to Casey Smith.
>> Casey rolled out to third in the first inning.
Smid now 0 for three lifetime against Carmen Majinski. This will be Majinski's 37th pitch. Pitch count not high at all as Schmid fouls that one back. Two and one.
>> Giants don't work counts.
>> They do not work counts.
And I said many times that they are last in baseball in walks. Only 72 walks as a team. That's last in baseball by a large margin. They haven't had a walk in two games. Schmidt base hit right field.
>> Another hit the other way for the Giants.
And that's the fourth of the night.
Schmidt with his first.
>> And we've seen a lot of lead off single for Casey Schmidt.
Giants don't waste this. That'll bring up Rocky De last time up.
>> De's homer was to dead center.
>> That was in the second inning. First pitch to De's is a fast ball missing up and away for ball one.
>> A home run to center field in the second inning.
One pitch to Divers. 40th of the night for Miljinski.
Divers takes a splitter up high. That was a good pitch to hit. Count one and one.
>> One-1. De's fouls one away the other way. Good swing. One and two.
>> So this was the home run. came in a 3-2 >> count.
One two pitch de up and away. Not even close. Two into the count now.
Yeah. Matt Chapman on deck. The base runner first is Casey Schmidt after a leadoff single.
2-2. De smokes one on the ground and it goes past the glove of Gonzalez in the right field. Schmidt rounding second.
He'll get the third. Another hit for the Giants. Another single. This time Des.
He's two for two tonight. And the Giants have the corners with nobody out.
>> That ball was smoked.
They >> went right under the glove of Gonzalez.
power. They put a little extra steam on the ground.
>> Deers is feeling it.
>> So, Max Chapman comes up in RBI situation. We'll see what he can do here.
>> First and first and third, nobody out for Chapman.
>> See what happens.
>> Chapman bounced out to third.
for >> Chan Grant at the third. His first time out >> for one.
>> Majinski, you want a strike out here and Chapman is a guy who will strike out.
So, we'll see. First pitch to Chapman is down low. Ball one.
>> Haven't struck out yet tonight. So, that's a good sign.
Haven't struck yet. And of course, haven't walked either.
One pitch to Chapman.
>> Chapman >> is up and in right on the corner. Good pitch. One and one >> count.
Look at a guy's lower body. The way he receives >> hit by pitch. I mean that'll be fine.
>> That would be fine with me.
>> One one >> inside. That almost hit him. Two and one.
I mean, those are things.
>> Debor at first, Schmidt at third of the base runners. So, >> average speed at third, very slow speed at first.
>> Does score a run, but you don't want a double play here. Just Chapman to third >> and the third base's coming home. Schmid is out.
>> So, going to second, Davs reaching for his Chapman on a field's choice. 52 and now it's first and second with two, one out. So, I guess that's not the end of the world, but does remove all >> sacrifice situations here.
>> That sucks.
>> But I don't think this was a bad play.
>> This is a play by Triola to go home there.
>> It was a goal glover. So, that's a play that he makes all the time. Plays like that.
>> So, now Willie Adamus comes up.
Thomas popped out the first his first time off and a double play is in order here.
>> First pitch Adamus fouls one away. 0 and one revving up the reload. Leo's a 97 right there.
>> Wow. the last series. I mean, he hit a lot of balls hard the other way, which is again, a lot of guys will tell you when they're driving the ball the other way, they're getting their swing back and he really got nothing to show for it. Nine drives caught >> the 01. Adam high drive to left.
>> Reno's back. He leaps and makes the catch. He might have just robbed a homer. Man, that ball.
>> I want to see if that was a homer robbed or at least he robbed extra bases probably. That was a heck of a play.
There's two down.
>> Thumbs up all hard though. Was a good swing. Let's see what Reynolds robbed here.
>> He said to left field.
>> Yeah, he might have robbed a homer.
>> What a catch by Brian Reynolds for out number two. He's made two great plays and left tonight.
>> Man, that hurts. Now bring Ramos.
First pitch to Ramos inside ball one.
>> It's up to Elliot Ramos.
>> Ramos grounded out the short his first time up.
>> Yep. No run at third because of the chat midfielder's choice. One tap foul. One and one.
>> Fast off the plate on really broke him down. Pirates in the outfield pitch the gaps against Ramos. They give the lines on both sides of the field.
>> The 1-1 up the middle in the center field. Big hit. De's around third. He will score, but caught between second and third is guess who? Matt Crapman. He's tagged out.
Well, run scores, >> but the Giants take the lead two to one going to the fifth. Giants on top.
Sh with a boneheaded base running play, but at least the Giants scored.
Ramos with RBI number 16 on the year, an RBI single.
That's one run on three hits, one left down.
Ramos is clutch. He definitely is clutch unlike the last two guys we saw.
Freaking Domus and Chapman.
Although Domus I can't blame them. He hit the ball very hard. Should have had a homer probably two to one Giants on top. So just got to close it out.
Got to close it. got to get great at pitching under two innings and go to the bullpen and then the bullpen's always up in the air. We'll see what happens.
I don't know. I don't know why that thing is making so much noise tonight, but whatever.
probably two years ago he had the 300 because two years ago is Ramos when he was an allstar.
So probably that probably in 24 was when he had that but he's been clutch in those situations for a while.
>> Giants.
>> So Billy Cook the 9 hitter will leave things off for the Pirates. It'll be 912 do up.
All right, here we go.
>> Billy Cook.
>> Billy Cook struck out swinging his first time up. And the first pitch he sees in the fifth is fal back on one.
And that pitch counts right for right.
>> Yeah, that sound more accurate.
Next pitch. Pitch number 75 for Robbie Rayon.
>> Cook Triola Gonzalez do up this inning.
As I said, 9121 Cook fouls one away.
>> 0 and2 to count scoreboard. You going to update?
Oh my good.
There we go. 0 and2 finally scoreboard updates.
11 votes in the poll. Giants comfortable margin 82% of the vote. The Giants winning tonight. 02. Cook takes a change up down low.
>> One and two. The count.
>> One and two. Robbie Ray with six strikeouts and four walks.
The one two.
Cook just gets a piece of that one. That was very low.
>> Count still one and two. 77.
>> Six strikeouts tonight for Ravier. He also has four walks with those six strikeouts.
>> The most he's had all year is 19. He did that against the Mets earlier this year.
>> He did that in five and a third innings against the Mets. I mean, he had 18 after the fourth inning.
>> One, two, inside corner. Strike three called. Strikeout number seven for Abby Ray.
So one away. That's the first strike out looking today.
>> Perier than Jared Triola.
>> Which is why he stopped.
>> First pitch to Trielos on the outside corner with a curve ball. Strike one.
>> That might be the best of the >> 0 for two. He flew out to center field his first time up and struck out swinging.
>> His last time up in the third >> 01 pitch outside one and one to count to Triola.
That was not an Okay, there we go.
Forcing fast ball.
It's a curveball initially. That was not a curveball.
One-1 Triolo highf fly ball right field leak coming in.
>> He has a read.
>> He makes the catch route number two.
>> Two down there. Nick Gonzalez who's walked twice today.
He >> has not had a fish at bat but he's been on base twice.
>> That's right. Bring your teddy bear.
That'll make you warm.
move.
>> First pitch to Nick Gonzalez is right down the middle. Fast ball taken for strike one.
Gonzalez with those two walks also stole a base.
Oh, that guy's having a whole campfire on the cove. Fouled back going too.
Shut that guy out the fire again.
What's he cooking? Is he grilling something? No, he just has a campfire.
Hey, campfire and a beer. That's good way to spend the Friday night. Got a group of people all huddled around the fire in the dirt. One and two.
>> Little fraternity.
>> Well, yeah.
It's a strong one, too.
His next pitch will be the 85th pitch of the night for Ray.
>> Pitch number 85 coming up and two strikes.
>> Counts one and two to Nick Gonzalez.
Here's the pitch. Gonzalez taps one foul. Third base side still one and two.
>> So impressed with the change up tonight.
It has a big part. That change up isn't very good for Robbie Ray tonight. It's been his best [ __ ] >> Send the fast ball tonight 52% of the time. The change up 25% of the time, a slider 17% of the time, and the knuckle curve 6% of the time today has Ray.
That's a highf fly ball to left. Ramos leaps and makes the catch.
Helen Ramos with a nice catch of his own in left field. And that ends the inning.
I don't think he robbed a homer, but he definitely robbed extra bases. Nice catch, Heli Ramos. Halfway home. Two to one Giants.
>> So, both left fielders having great defensive games tonight.
two two to one. It'll be 891 for the Giants. Gilbert, Rodriguez, and Leaf do up just like it was in the third.
One like away from double digits. No.
No. I'm going to cheat. I'm telling you right now, I'm going to do this. I'm going on my I'm going on a bot account, an alt account of mine. I'm going to like the stream to get to 10. You can sue me, but I'm doing it. 10 likes. Boom. Wonder who just hit that like button.
I don't know who just hit that like button, but someone did. Thank you. 10 likes.
Now we're halfway to 20.
Elliot Ramos Ramos is having a great game. Yeah, the RBI with two out and then that nice catch. He also made a nice catch on a bullet line drive earlier today as well.
So, Ram's having a very solid game. All right, we're back.
>> 26 Allstar Teacher Award presented by Providence Credit Union. It's going on right now. You can go to sportsbay area.com and check out Suzanne Say Lee as well as all the other finalists and vote now.
The winning teacher is going to get 000 bungeras for their school and they need your vote. So please help them out.
>> So Drew Gilbert popped out to short his first time up. He'll leave things off for the Giants in the bottom of the fifth.
>> First pitch to Drew Gilbert from Ojinski is a curveball missing up high for ball one.
He's >> only thrown 53 pitches tonight. So he has not thrown a lot of pitches at all.
third one. That one's down and away. Two and0.
Does he have an I? Yeah, he Yeah, he does have an assist cuz he got Cruz trying to get the third. Yes, Rams also with an outfield assist. So, heck of a night for Elliot defensively and offensively as well.
2 3 and 0.
>> Count to Gilbert. For a while we saw Duke Gilbert really aggressive and first pitch counts. Not always getting a good pitch to hit.
>> Like every other hitter knows you want to get a ball in the strike zone. That's where the hits are.
>> Got Jesus Rodriguez on deck.
The three 0 to Gilbert is at the belt.
>> Taking three and one.
>> There's Rodriguez in the on deck circle.
singled his last time up did Rodriguez 3-1 Gilbert ground ball to second sliding stop Gonzalez nice play for that number one >> really nice range ground balls by the Pirates tonight can add this play to it and Nick Gonzalez that makes this thing a very relaxed So Rodriguez single the opposite way.
>> And then I b the third.
>> So he's one for one.
>> See if he can do it again.
>> Takes a first pitch breaking ball on the outside corner and one.
>> So >> he's batting 500.
>> Here's Rodriguez. Five for 10. Good 500 average. He can keep that up his career.
He's going to be the best hitter of all time. shoots this one.
>> Sharp ground ball to second base for Gonzalez again. That was hit hard >> but right at the second baseman who throws him out for routing.
>> So two down both via ground balls to second and I'm right at the top of the order and >> Jung Lee Rodriguez >> Lee one for two today. He's hit the ball hard twice though. First one he lined out to right. Last time up he hit a bolt single to right.
>> First pitch to Lee >> is inside for ball one.
>> Le's average now at 267.
The 1.
That one's right in there at the knees.
One and one.
Checking out the third base.
>> Push number 62 for Majinski. Want to be a 75 or fewer after five on pace to do just that. That pitch is a curveball down low. Two and one. I do believe that at some point his career that's going to be part of his game. But just by giving a third base a look will keep you in at least till a two strike count.
Count two and one to Jung Hoo Lee in a two to1 ball game in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs.
Lee hits one the other way this time and Jung Hu Lee has his second hit of the night. He's seen it well. That's the Giants seventh hit overall.
>> For Jung Lee and that'll bring up Luis elevation up there at the belt. Stays inside it and serves it out to left field.
Now bring Arise who grounded to a double play his last time up.
>> See if Arise can make up for it here.
>> Jesus Rodriguez put the ball.
>> First pitch to Arise is hit the other way. Foul. Good swing.
rolls over to Lee and Rise. I mean that puts a lot of pressure on a hitter or a pitcher rather.
>> Strike out.
>> Rise besides a double play also lined out to left. That was his first at bat.
>> The 01. He is hit the other way again.
Foul 0 and two.
>> And he couldn't care less if he has a two strike out.
Casey Schmidt on deck for the Giants if it were to get to him. Hopefully it does.
02 Arise hits a high fly ball to Shadow left field. This one routine for Brian Reynolds >> and the Giants leave a man on the >> after five. Two to one Giants. Reynolds or Zuna Cruz coming up for the Pirates.
>> Three, four, five.
One hit, one left on.
No runs. And I'll be right back.
Hold me close till I get up. Time is belly on side.
I don't want to waste what's left.
The storms we chase are leading us. And love is all we'll ever trust. Yeah. No, I don't want to waste what's left.
And We'll go through the wastelands, through the highways, till my shadow turns the sun raise. And we'll go through the wastelands, through the highways. And on and on we go.
Heat. Heat. N.
We go finding life along the way. Melodies we haven't played.
No, I don't want no rest.
Echoing around these walls, fighting to create a song.
I don't want to miss a beat.
>> All right, we're back here.
>> So, Brian Reynolds will leave things off for the Pirates. He's had a great day defensively.
And the first pitch >> he sees is a high pop up to right field and Lee makes the basket catch.
Man, we've seen some great defense tonight.
>> One pitch, one out.
>> Yeah, I didn't think Lee had a chance there. That's a great play in foul ground in right field.
>> That's big for Rob, especially this pitch high. A one pitch out. And I'm Marcel Ozuna.
>> First pitch to Ozuna is on the outside corner.
>> Good fast ball for strike one.
Zuna hit a solo home run in the second and walked in the third. So he is one for one.
>> Nice play.
Soona has homerred and walked.
>> The one that's right down the middle taking 0 and two.
>> Take a look at the peak right here.
Where am I? Where am I? I need to know right now. I know.
Full control.
>> Counts 0 and2 to Ozuna.
>> Here's number 90 coming up here for Robbie. Right.
>> Korea night here at the ballpark and lot of Jun Lee fans in attendance. He's having a good night for him.
>> Outside on a change up.
>> Good pitch. One and two. Three solid at bats defense very nice little one two ozuna broken bat that's a base hit over the leap of >> Adamus >> Zuna >> second of the ball game fourth of the night for the Pirates >> well it's the first thing you look for to see that >> that just those days those days are over right off the end of the bat.
>> So oneon one out for Pittsburgh and then I'll bring up O'Neal Cruz.
>> I'd say well over 90% was White Ash >> Cruz today one for two with a single and a strikeout. First pitch to Cruz is a curveball down and away for ball one might be Ray's last batter.
Got a ready on deck.
>> Here's number 93 coming up. So this might be your last batter if you're right.
>> I don't know if the gent bullpen going.
>> Don't be shocked. This is his last batter. Cruz ground ball to third.
Chapman backs up goes to second for Adamus to first. And that's a 563 double play. Good turn right there by the Giants. Two to one Giants. B to six.
That was hard to do with a very fast Illinois cruise, but the Giants did it nicely.
One hit, nobody left on.
Casey Schmidt things off in the bottom of six.
So, Pirates got into another double play with a lot of double plays this season.
Most in baseball. That's 39 double plays I got into this year.
That's a lot.
Can't see me.
Can only see my hat.

No stream tomorrow or Sunday, but Monday through Thursday when the Giants play the Dodgers will be live for all four of those games each starting at 10 p.m.
Eastern. So, tune in for that. All right, we're back.
>> Casey Schmid won for two today and the first pitch. Schmidt seized the strike at the knee zone one. Last time up, Schmidt hit a single >> to right field and he also ground at the third in the first inning.
>> Schmidt a base hit to the field. Schmidt grounds this one to short for Connor >> Griffin.
>> One away.
>> Quick first down. And that'll bring up >> DeS.
>> Deers two for two tonight. A solo home run in the second and a bullet single in the fourth.
>> He's also scored both Giants runs tonight.
First pitch to de is in there for strike one.
>> Our first look at Conor Griffin and he's really impressive just >> 70th pitch from Majinski endeavors swings and misses on a high sinker. Ow and two.
Matt Chapman on deck.
>> Right now behind the counter.
>> O to DS is up and in.
Changing the eye level a bit. One and two.
Both of his hits have come in a two strike count tonight. Home run in the second, a single for both times he scored.
>> Had to really duck out of the way of that one.
One, two, swinging a miss. Strike three.
First strike of the night from >> Ljinski.
>> A high fast ball. Two away.
That'll >> be Matt Chapman. Here's Chapman.
>> Chapman 0 for two. Couple of ground balls to third.
>> Chapman for two. Two ground to third.
>> First pitch to Chapman is outside for ball one.
>> One of those grounds. He actually reached first base. It was a fieldielder's choice for Chapman. third base and went home. That was in the fourth. The one Chapman smokes one right at Griffin who plays on a hop >> and throws it out.
>> Then the inning after six. Two to1 Giants. Griffin Bart York coming up for the Pirates.
See if it's against Robbie Wright or not. Hey, but that was a hard hit ball at least for Chapman.
Made good contact just right at the shorts stop though.
First time the Giants haven't had a hit in an inning since the first. Had one hand in the second, two us in the one hand in the second, two us in the third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and I see nothing showing there.
So, good one, two, three from Mjinski.
Eight people up in here. Hit that like button if you have not already done so.
It's free. Helps me out of 10. We just gain one more likes. So, that's nice.
One, nine likes away, I should say, from my like goal of 20. So, probably not a good show. We get there, but still a shot. So, hit that like button if you have not already done so. It's free and it helps me out. Time will take 3 seconds of your time. So, if you like what you're seeing, why not?
Why the heck not?
Giants Nation, see you tomorrow. Stop by. All right. Yeah, I'll see you.
Hopefully I'll see you on Monday, Giants Nation. Giants Dodgers. Hopefully I'll see you then. Appreciate you stopping by tonight.
>> Back and Majinski have thrown the ball very well.
>> Players today really been two veterans.
Marcelo Zuna two for two for the Pirate with the solo homer. Rafie Des two for three with a solo homer today. So, those been the two players.
>> And Robbie Ray's night is over. After six, the new pitcher for the Giants will be the righty Katon Wining Conor Griffin.
>> First battle faces Connor Griffin.
First pitch win throws is a good pitch right at the belt. 0 and one.
>> Conor Griffin started the season, age 19.
Deal one.
Griffin takes a splitter down low. Ball one.
>> Robert Ray's final line tonight is six innings pitched, four hits, one earned run, four walks, and seven strikeouts.
The walk is is really the only thing that bit him. Swinging in a miss one and two. Thought >> the walks he still be in this game.
Well, >> been going for a complete game with his pitch cap. He weren't issuing four walks.
Onetw pitch to Connor Griffin is a check swing grounder right back to Katon Win when will throw to first in time >> rout number one for that >> three on the put out and now I'll bring up Joey >> Barters Pirates fans want to see their own >> sir go Giants see you Monday Giants nation when they develop a talent like they have done with Conor Griffin.
>> Bart over 0 for two with a strike out and a line up to left.
>> First pitch to Bart.
>> Here's Joey Bart >> is outside a sinker for ball one.
The one >> that one right on the outside corner.
Good pitch.
>> One and one.
>> Joey Bart's going to challenge this, but to me it looked like a strike.
>> We'll see what the ABS says. And it was indeed a strike. So the count will be one and one to Bart. Pirates have one challenge left.
>> So Bart loses that one.
>> Gonzalez.
>> Casher does not know the zone. Oh no.
that I would if I was an umpire.
>> I would laugh.
>> That one right on the inside corner at the bell. Another perfect pitch.
>> One and two to count the Bart. See if he challenges this one. Does not though.
>> Yeah, we our our umpireing crews wouldn't last for very long.
>> It's a timeless call here.
One >> two pitch.
Bart hits one high and foul.
>> Still one and two.
>> Even Roy getting that VO up tonight.
That was a 99 right there.
>> A lot of fast lately. So well established in this league with that split forget about >> one two Bart strikes out swinging on the splitter >> first strike effort win second time Bard struck out tonight Nick York with two Imagine >> nope, it will not be Nick York. It'll be a pinch hitter >> in Brandon Lao, the lefty for Pittsburgh.
>> So, a little visit from the Giants pitching coach Justin.
This will be a mound visit to discuss what the game plan is here for Brandon Lao off the bench.
Brandon Laau is a cool first name. What else?
Action in the Giants bullpen. Matt Gage, >> the lefty warming up.
>> They started him early.
>> So Lo comes up.
>> Hey, we're now seven legs away from 20.
Let's go. We can do it. Believe. Brian Law's had a great year. 266 with 10 home runs and 23 RBI. So, he has a ton of power and obviously a solo home run would tie the game here.
Lao takes a splitter down and away for ball one.
>> I'm sure it had everything to do with lefty on lefty, but taking that many home runs out of your lineup.
>> I don't know.
>> The one loud check swing. Did he go?
>> He did not. According to the third base umpire, >> he did go >> two and0.
>> Very common place to see a mound visit when they have a pitcher come up, especially late in the game.
>> The two pitch to Lao is right on the outside corner. A sinker. Two and one.
2-1.
Lao grounds one to first. Devils takes it himself, steps on the bag to end the inning.
>> One, two, three in for Keen to win.
Giants coming up at Damus, Ramos, and Gilbert in the bottom of seventh. And it's time for the seventh inning stretch.
Oh, heat.
Oh, hey.
All right, we're back here.
>> 32 years ago today, Matt Williams hit a walk-off single against the Dodgers at Candlestick. for as the Giants beat the Dodgers 5 to four.
>> Giants won that game in 1994.
Five to four.
>> So Carmen Wjinski's night is over. So best pitchers go six innings tonight.
>> And the new pitcher for the Pirates will be the righty Justin Lawrence.
>> Justin Lawrence, a new pitcher now for the Pirates. This is the 16th game that he's come in one of the 48. You're taking your bat against him. You're going to see >> Mjinski's final line tonight was six innings pitched, seven hits, two earned runs, no walks, one strike out. First batter Justin Morris going to face is Will Davis. And Adamus takes a first pitch strike. I should call a ball.
>> Well, that's pretty.
>> Yeah, it's up to the bullpen now. seen this story many times this year. Usually doesn't end well.
>> Maybe tonight will be different though.
>> Panama came up with a >> so Adamus 0 for two tonight. 10 pitch to Adamus from Justin Lawrence is a pitch on the inside corner. Belt high one and one. Thomas a pop out to first and a fly out to left. was robbed of a homer by Brian Reynolds.
>> 1-1. Adamus smokes one and that's going to get through into left center field for a base hit.
>> Leadoff single in the seventh for William Thomas.
Another hard hit ball off his bat.
>> Challenge right back up the middle.
>> Now bring around.
Another atid contact for Julia.
>> Some insurance will be nice here.
Ramos had an RBI single last time up.
That was in the fourth.
First pitch to Elliot is the other way. Right field down the line. Fair ball >> going to go to the corner. Adamus to third >> and he'll get a stop sign from Hector Borg. Gets a double for Heli and Ramos.
Back-to-back hits on back-to-back pitches for the Giants. I have second and third.
Nobody out. How about yourself a night?
Hel >> Ramos.
>> Giants have gone opposite field very well tonight.
>> Ramos two for three now. Now bring up Drew Gilbert.
got to the wall in a hurry.
>> So, second and third, nobody out.
Gilbert's job to put the ball in play.
>> Gilbert.
>> Gilbert for Tut with a pop out to short and a ground out to second. Gilbert takes a first pitch strike on a sweeper 0 and one.
Left-handed batter is Gilbert.
>> Got a ton of speed. So, don't >> be shocked if he lays down a bun here.
Amazing.
You one. That one's outside. One to one.
>> Take.
>> So, you got a bunch of defensive replacements here. Jared Triolo moves to first base, Brandon L moves to second base, and Nick Gonzalez goes to third for Pittsburgh.
The >> 1-1. Gilbert fouls one away. One and two.
Well, now you got to fight. It's one ball and two strikes.
>> Gilbert can strike out here.
One thing he can't do, got to put the ball in play.
One, two, pitch to Gilbert.
Gilbert takes one down low, gets away from Bart, but everyone will stay put.
Two and two.
Good job by Bart to keep it in front of him at least.
>> Two two to Gilbert.
Gilbert taps one foul and just stays alive. Still two and two.
>> Jesus Rodriguez, who's been clutch, a great hitter all year, four games on deck.
>> 10th pitch from Lawrence. Two two to Gilbert.
is a base hit to right field pass three to Brandon Laauo. One run scores in Adamus Rambo stops that third RBI single.
>> Drew Gilbert >> as three to one.
>> Another two strike hit. That's Gilbert's sixth RBI of the year.
>> That's a big one. Big insurance run.
>> Jesus Rodriguez with the corners. Nobody out.
>> And Rodriguez puts the ball in play. Put the ball in play and every single one of us at bats in the big league. So this is a good batter in this situation. Shows bunt gets it down. It goes foul. I wouldn't do that. 0 and one.
>> As much contact as he does. I don't like that play.
>> Vision son Hendricks. What's going on?
Chilly goober Gilbert >> clutch right there. Welcome to the stream vision son. Appreciate you stopping by tonight >> consistently.
>> Ramos at third, Gilbert at first. 01.
Rodriguez takes a breaking ball way outside.
>> One and one countered the ball in a strike.
Yeah, Walker's coming in. You got to get a lot more than You got to get a lot more runs because I don't trust that guy to close out a seven run >> leadg.
One-1 pitch to Rodriguez.
And that might have hit him.
I think it it did hit him. So, hit by pitch.
Hopefully Rodriguez is okay. Bases loaded. Nobody out for the top of the order in Jungu Lee. Tony Vatel is coming out.
So is the training staff. Looks like Outdas is okay.
He'll take first. So he bases load nobody out. Going to do some tests on him though. Make sure he's fine.
>> Bottom elbow. Well, the problem with that is, you know, you're moving your elbow into the ball. So it's not like you're trying to turn away from it.
Watch the arm go right into the ball.
>> Oh yeah, him in the elbow.
>> Yeah, those always scare me because we've seen broken arms with it.
>> Well, one more like away from 15. So, we can get to 15 likes. That'll be cool.
So, hit that like button if you haven't already done so. It's free. Helps me out. And this be the only game we're live for this series. No stream tomorrow or Sunday, but we'll be live for every single game of the Giants Dodgers series. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Every single one be live for.
from Giants baseball lots this summer. So, hit that like button and subscribe.
>> Both free. They both help me out a ton.
>> Rodriguez is fine. He will take first.
It's a nice ovation from the crowd. He's been so impressive.
>> Bring out the skipper for the Pirates, Don Kelly.
>> So, Justin Lawrence's night is over. He does not get a single out. And he leaves with the bases loaded. Nobody on the bottom in the seventh. New pitcher coming in for Pittsburgh.
>> Three-run Giants. Bases loaded in the seventh.
Assuming Lefty's coming in.
So, not a good outing for Justin Lawrence. Doesn't get a single out. He gives up three hits.
He's on the docket to give up some runs, too.
Nine people up in here. Giants in a good position to win this game. Be a much needed win for them if they were to get it.
Some more insurance would be nice though.
Never against more insurance.
Oh man.
Why am I getting all these damn Oh, this is one of these. Okay. I thought this was another damn Arby's head. Getting fit all this Arby's propaganda.
That was Wendy's. I thought it was Arby's again because Arby's g me roast beef sandwiches in the middle of the game.
That was Wendy's that time.
Kind of craving one. Might get Wendy's tomorrow.
Low key might get Wendy's tomorrow.
All right, we're back.
>> Giants have 10 hits tonight.
>> Bases load, nobody on. New pitcher for the Pirates will be the left-hander and Evan >> Cisk batter Cisk is going to face Jung Hu Lee.
>> At least had a heck of a night so far.
He has two hits. Hit the ball hard on each of his three bats.
>> First pitch to Jung Hu Lee with the bases loaded.
And Lee grounds one. Actually, that's a line drive right to the second base.
Very low line drive >> right to Brandon Laauo >> who makes the catch for out number one.
So, one pitch, one out.
>> Another harded ball though for Lee.
>> Third base.
>> That ramp her eyes.
>> That freezes everybody.
Catches that just above a shoe top.
There you see the opportunity at second base. did not take advantage of. So the Giants catch a break.
>> First pitch to Luis Arise >> is outside for ball one.
>> Arise for three.
>> Rise is 0 for three. Last time he was up in a situation like this, he ground into a double play. 463.
He also flew out to left field twice.
>> The 1L arise ground ball into right field pass through Chavel. Rambo scores. Here comes Gilbert. He'll score >> and it's five to one. A two RBI single for Arise.
>> Comes through this time. Does Arise.
That's RBI's number >> 12 and 13 on the year.
>> One of the best in all of baseball.
>> Now, the mantra of this game, as you just heard Pope say probably, is put the ball in play. Good things happen. Giants have only struck out once as a team tonight. Put the ball in play consistently and good things have happened. Obviously, >> they're up five to one. Here's Casey >> Schmidt.
>> Schmidt takes the first pitch. Ball inside >> Wo.
Rodriguez one for three single in the fourth and two ground outs.
Schmidt takes one inside again. Two and0.
>> Hard throw. Throw between 90 93 miles hour. But a big flat sweeper curve ball and a change up.
>> Two pitch to Casey Schmidt against the lefty Evans >> Cisk.
>> Schmidt high fly ball >> on the infield. It's a popup. Connor Griffin the shortstop takes control >> and makes the crow for out number two.
>> And here's that bring in a lefty lefty matchup.
Divers at the solo home run in the second, singled in the fourth, struck out in the sixth. He scored two runs tonight as well.
>> Two for three.
First pitch to Debors is outside for ball one.
The 1L swinging a miss.
One and one. The base runners for the Giants are Jesus Rodriguez at second and Luis Arise at first after Rise has hit a two RBI single.
>> Deers takes a fast ball outside again.
Two and one >> tomorrow.
Hopefully that's what your schedule says.
>> 2-1.
Deborah's bouncing ball. It's going to roll foul.
>> It's going to roll foul at the last second.
>> Two and two.
>> 605 tomorrow.
>> It'll be Braxton Ashander against going to see a lot of night games on this next road trip. Get a night game tomorrow, day game on Sunday. Then Monday through Saturday in Los Angeles and in Sacramento, six night games in a row going into another Sunday day game.
Two-2 to Des is a swing and a miss.
Strike three. Second straight time Devils a strike out. That won't be in it. But the Giants score three runs and they're up five to one after seven. Cook Triola Gonzalez coming up for the Pirates.
So, three runs on four hits and two left on for the Giants in this seventh inning. They get some insurance, which is big.
Still just one leg away from 15. So, that like button if you haven't already done so. Let's get to 15 at least.
That'll be good.
Uno to sin. Is that it? Ke.
Is that what 15 is?
I think it's kins.
Yeah. Kore is this whatnot.
Another one. You're really making me crave crave Wendy's. LBTV.
That chicken sandwich looks very good right now.
Oh man, now I'm craving a chicken sandwich with mayo.
McChick even. I know it's a one's head, but McChick sounds good right now. All right, we're back.
>> Giants.
>> Maybe 16. Yeah, 16 would be cool, too.
>> Matt Gage, the new pitcher.
>> 15 or 16. Anything higher than 14, honestly.
>> Anyways, Matt Gage is the new Giants pitcher. Third pitcher used tonight.
He's a lefty.
>> Billy Cook.
>> First batter faces Billy Cook. And Cook grounds the first pitch he sees to Matt Chapman at third. One out.
That's one thing a third base can do that a short stop can't do. Good start for Gage chance to back up and and just sort of give him an opportunity. This is this had nastiness written all over it in between.
>> So now I'm at the top of the order in Jared Triolo >> to either charge or move back.
>> So here's >> Triolo takes a first pitch fast ball up high.
for ball one. Triello 0 for three today with a fly out to center, a strikeout swing, and a fly out to right.
>> Two flaps in a straight out for Triello.
>> 1 >> down low. Two and0.
>> Bailey is now behind the dish.
>> So, new catcher is Patrick Bailey. So, maybe they just took Rodriguez out for caution after he got hit by the pitch.
So, Bailey is in at catcher.
2 trio or takes a strike. Two in one.
Ruined OSRS. Welcome in, says LFG Giants. I agree. Let's go Giants.
>> Ground ball to third. More work for Chapman.
Two out.
>> Two grounds to third this inning for Matt Chapman. And then I'll bring him Nick Gonzalez.
>> Gage has been great. Gage has been great all year. I've always like Matt Gage.
He's one of the He's one of the few guys in this bullpen who I actually trust to do anything.
>> I like Matt Gage.
>> Gonzalez has walked twice and throw it to the left. First pitch to Gonzalez is up and away. Changed him. He checked his swing.
One and >> the one >> inside 2 and 0 >> and it's just a bit inside or to get to you got Brian Reynolds on deck. Shines don't want to see Reynolds to the ninth. Ideally, >> that one called a strike. Actually, I thought it was called a ball. Called a strike. Two and one just at the outside corner. Very close pitch.
>> 2-1. Exon takes. No. Okay. It was called a ball. That two pitch was a strike by Mandy Gonzalez. I mean, he made the move like it was a strike.
>> So, that's a four pitch walk. Third time Gonzalez has walked tonight. He's on a two outs. Not bring Brian Reynolds.
>> Yeah, I thought it was called a ball.
Then scoreboard and K said it was a strike, but it was actually called a ball. So, it was a three and0 and it was a four pitch one. Anyways, Brian Reynolds >> 0 for two today. That pitch in the dirt for ball one.
Reynolds has grounded to a double play.
Walked and flew out to right.
>> That's ball five. And that get you talking to yourself a little bit if you're gauge.
>> Five straight balls by Gage.
>> Got to find the zone.
>> Especially when you're starting to come into this part of the lineup for the Pirates.
>> Don't poor Robbie walk three straight batters with two ads. Please. Reynolds will bound this one to first. Devils takes it himself to end the inning.
>> At the bottom of the eighth inning, Giants up 5 to1. Chapman Adam Ramos coming up hopefully the last time tonight.
>> So Pirates leave a man on in the eighth inning. Wasted two at walk.
Welcome back, Shard Doll.
Giants looking good in this one.
Welcome back, SGA Sports Dock. Still just one like away from 15. So, hit it.
Hit it. I'm going to do this now just to make sure we get the 15. Boom. New like go 15. I'm downgrading. But you know what? If we get to 15, it's going right back up to 20. So, hit that like button if you haven't already done so. It's free house made it done. Take three seconds of your time.
I like the number 15.
Like numbers that end in five or zero.
Besides the number zero, I don't like the number I don't like the number zero.
Zero is not a nice number. But any number that ends in zero or five is a nice number.
5year price guaranteed included.
T-Mobile.
The only good thing about T-Mobile is the free MLB TV I get. It's the only good thing about T-Mobile. The free LBTV. Only reason I have it.
The service is pretty garbage, but you get free LBTV. That saves me $150 a month. So, no, not a month. A year. 150 a month. Be crazy. All right, we're back. New pitcher for the Pirates as well.
>> Cam Sanders.
>> The name of the new pitcher is Cam Sanders.
You're going to see a lot of those. He has a sweeper that Let's show you occasion.
>> Chapman.
>> Matt Chapman leaves things off. Takes a first pitch ball. One and0.
Chapman >> 0 for three tonight.
>> Chapman swinging a miss. One and one.
But he has definitely contributed with his >> very busy defensively tonight.
>> The one-1 swinging a miss. One and two.
>> One thing that Pirates will do and they've always done is pitch inside. I mean, they have 19 hit bats this year.
It puts him in the top three in the >> William on deck. have hit nine.
>> Man, the organ's very active tonight. I will say >> very active organist tonight.
>> One, two pitch to Chapman.
It is fouled straight back. Still one and two.
The one two.
>> Cam Sanders has his pitchman >> and he fires. Chapman strikes out swinging.
>> Third strike guy as a team tonight for the Giants. First for Sanders.
>> Adamos.
Now bring up Willie >> Adamis.
top hand on it.
>> Thomas's last time up singled to lead off the seventh inning against Justin Lawrence. Then he scored the home run by >> So he's one for three tonight. And Domus fouls the first pitch he sees back going one.
>> Dumps also got robbed of a home run in the fourth inning. He's had a good night.
Adamus has the 01 is another base hit. This one in the left field for Willie Adamus. Another one in the left. His second hit of the ball game. Giants 12th as a team.
>> It's a one out single.
>> I mean it's a nice pitch from Sanders perspective.
>> Now we have Elliot Ramos.
>> He gets him extending out and Locally just beats the good >> has had a great night. He's two for three with an RBI. Also played great defense. Ramos takes a first pitch slider up and in for ball one.
>> Ramos also scored in that seventh inning. He scored on the Louisis Arise two RBI single the 10 pitch. Ramo swinging a miss. One and one.
>> We're still just one length away from 15. So, hit that like button if you haven't already done so. Let's go. Let's get to 15. Just one more.
The 1-1.
Ramos. Another swing and a miss. One and two.
Burners do at first.
The one two in the dirt. Two and two.
Drew Gilbert is in the on deck circle.
>> Drew Gilbert on deck for the Giants.
>> Had a lot to do with the Giants scoring five runs today.
Uh 2-2 Rambo strikes out swinging. So it's backto-back strikeouts. Well, two strikeouts I should say. Two has two strikeouts for Sanders and Giants.
They've only struck out four times tonight as a team, but three straight outs have been via the K. Now we have Drew Gilbert with an RBI singles last time up in the seventh. He's one for three. Gilbert also scored a run in that seventh inning.
>> Besides that, he's popped out to short and ground at the second. First pitch to Gilbert is down and in for ball one.
little one.
Gilbert big swing and a miss. Lost his helmet on a change up >> right there.
>> One and one. Good pitch.
>> That thing just disappeared right there.
Started at the base of the strikes out.
Caught it. is right there. Shoot top high >> one. One down low.
>> Another change up. Two in one. This time Gilbert lays off.
>> Jesus Rodriguez on deck. You have to guess soon. Hope we can get one more at bat tonight.
activated.
>> Gilbert the other way. Foul.
Two and two.
>> Peter hit a home run in last night's ball game for Sacramento.
>> It's good to hear. Bader hit a home run in his rehab game in Sacramento last night.
>> That's good to hear.
>> If we go if we can actually hit the ball when he comes back. Gilbert strikes out swinging. So Sanders strikes out the side. Chance get one hit. Leave one on.
Going to the bottom of the ninth. Top of the ninth. They're up four. Three more rounds to go until a much needed win.
The Ozuna, Cruz, and Griffin for the Pirates coming up.
And I'll be right back.
Hold me close till I get up. Time is belly on side.
I don't want to waste what's left.
The storms we chase are leading us. And love is all we'll ever trust. Yeah. No, I don't want to waste what's left.
And we go. Oh, through the wastelands, through the highways, till my shadow turns the sun raise. And we go through the wastelands, through the highways. And on we go.
We go finding life along the way. Melodies we haven't played.
No, I don't want no rest.
Echoing around these walls, fighting to create a song.
I don't want to miss a beat.
>> All right, three more outs till much needed victory.
The Giants, the pitcher who's going to try and close it out will be Caleb Kelly in the right.
>> Pick up the last three outs of this game. His numbers are very good.
>> Young is the fourth pitcher used tonight by the Giants.
>> First battle faces Marceluna.
>> And the first pitch to Ozuna is inside for ball one. Ozuna >> responsible for the only Pirates run tonight. He had a solo home run. The secondy or lefty.
>> The one pitch.
>> Ozuna takes one up high. A fast ball.
Two and0. He's in a two for two. The solo home run. He also walked in the third and he also singled. So he has not been retired yet.
>> That one's right on the outside corner.
A lot of movement on that fast ball.
>> Two and one in a count. You kind of take away advantage when you can put that type of location on it.
The 2-1 >> Ozuna highf fly ball >> shallow center field. Gilbert coming in.
>> He's got it. Throughout number one.
First time the Giants have retired tonight.
>> That'll bring up >> Cruz. That'll bring up O'Neal Cruz.
Yes, WAG came back at a right time. Only two morals to a win. So, looking back, Giants Nation, Antonio Cruz, one for three today. A single, a strike on a double play. Cruz takes a breaking ball.
>> Strike. That's going to be overturned to a ball that he does not challenge.
Actually, that was very high. Call it a strike. Shot cruiser and challenge 0 and one.
Cruz takes one down and in. Fast ball.
One and one.
>> The approach for O'Neal Cruz, it never really changes. He just tried to hit it 800 ft.
>> The one-1. Cruz takes one down and in a slider that time.
>> Two and one with that kind of leverage.
Well, in his career, I mean, he has done that. He has hit some tape measure shots. Pure power.
>> Is it the >> outside corner perfect fast >> two and two?
>> Got the O'Neal Cruz.
>> Conor Griffin on deck for Pittsburgh.
too.
>> Ona Cruz has the highest hard hit rate in Major League Baseball and the highest >> exit elo average in Major League Baseball.
>> So this guy ton of power to say the least.
>> The other way fell >> and Cruz stays alive. Still two and two.
That's a natural cut on that for seam fast from Caleb Killian.
>> That's a gift.
>> Another two- two.
>> Cruz checks swing. Did he go? Did not.
>> He did not.
>> Just checked his swing. The count goes full.
>> That is something they're toying around with in the minor leagues now.
>> He did check a swing. That's the right call.
>> It's a full count to Cruz. more scientific way to make that call.
>> There is some gray area in the way that it is called.
>> 3-2 Cruz.
>> Good swing on that one. Fouls it away.
Still full of the count.
Not going away.
We're still just one leg away from a late goal of 15. So, hit that like button if you haven't already done so.
Come on now. Not much time left.
>> Number 38.
Another 3-2 pitch and he did not go there. That's a pitch in the dirt for ball four. So, it's a one out walk. Antonio Cruz now bringing up Conor Griffin.
>> Well, you know, with the Jets, it can never be easy.
>> Here's Conor Griffin.
Griffin today. One for three with a single, a strike on a ground out.
>> Double, not a double play would be nice.
>> First pitch to Connor Griffin is on the inside corner. Strike one.
>> Good slider filmed by Killian.
The 01 swinging a foul.
>> 0 and2 the count.
>> The brotherhood of the mask. Catchers and umpires all part of that fraternity and they look out for each other.
Y2 to Griffin with Cruz at first.
That's down and away. One and two.
Cruz has 13 stolen bases. So, I mean, it would be risky for him to go. You got Bailey behind on plate now. Would be risky for him to go, but I won't be shocked if he does. Again, 13 stolen bases for O'Neal Cruz this year.
Probably won't go though. Griffin check swing.
>> Did not go. Another check swing for the Pirates. Two and two. We mentioned the age of Conor Griffin at 20, just turned 20 in April, but you stand next to him and he doesn't look like he's 20. He's 6'3, 225. It's put together >> and Killian will step off.
>> Got a pinch hitter on deck for Bart spot. It'll be Spencer Horowitz.
>> Two two pitch to Conor Griffin >> inside. Three and two. You don't want to walk him here.
>> See if Cruz goes here in 3-2.
>> You're right. I mean, >> really have to make him swing the bat here.
>> 3-2.
And that's ball four.
Here we go. Backto back walks. First and second. One out. Horwoods off the bench coming up.
>> So backto back walks.
all the infielders that have come in along with Patrick Bailey and >> going to be meeting on the mound to try and soothe Killian down and talk about a game plan to approach Horowitz here's a lefty once pinching and Joey Bart spot >> well it's not going to be pat him on the back he has no problem getting >> and you don't you definitely don't want to walk Horwoods We get him on base cuz you got a guy with a ton of power >> and Brandon L on deck. So >> let's not do that.
>> Or on the year 245 base runners are Cruz at second. Griffin at first. First pitch to Horwitz is a strike right down the middle. taken 0 and one.
>> There's a guy that's played a little bit. I mean, he's got three home runs, 14 RBI's, hitting 245, had 102 at bats.
>> Whitz fouls one back 0 and two.
Gillian ahead. You just got to finish the job here. Hey, just went right into the attack mode. So, whatever.
>> Spencer Royals has grown into six double plays this year. Tied for sixth most in the NL. So, this is a double play candidate.
Tap foul. Still 0 and two.
>> Another did well to fight that one off.
>> Beauty of both breakable balls for Killian is they are straight down biters.
ball slider. One faster than the other.
The slider >> the 02 and he just gets a piece.
>> Still 0 and2 foul off the glove of Patrick Bailey.
>> Perfect location for the fast.
Got a popping can hit that like button if you haven't. We're one lick away from 15.
So hit that thumbs up button if you have not already.
Another 02 count up to Spencer Horowitz.
And Horwood smokes one the right field base hit.
>> O'Neal Cruz in to score >> and Griffin goes to third. Five to two and the tying runs come to the plate in Brandon Lang.
>> Well, and that's the one thing that fell off the bench with an RBI single.
And >> again, it's Giants baseball. Nothing can ever be easy.
>> Nothing.
>> Can be easy with the San Francisco Giants.
>> Justin message out to talk to Killian again. Brandon Lou comes up. He's a tying run at the plate and he has a ton of power. He has 10 home runs on the year. So, a home run will tie this game here.
>> I'm shocked the bullpen's not up and going here. I mean, to be fair, the only left you have in this situation is Ryan Baraki, who you might as well just throw a freaking toddler on the mount, >> but >> we'll see here.
>> And his one at bat today, ground out the first. He came in the pinch in the seventh for Nick York.
First pitch to Brandon Laauo coming up from Caleb Killian.
>> Not even close.
>> Get the bullpen up, Tony.
One other count.
>> Couple of walks >> and then a hit.
>> The one pitch to Lao.
Good breaking ball on the outside corner. One and one.
So there is action in the ben. Yo >> Pigarro >> warming up.
I mean if wild gets on you he's going right to Pagarero.
The one-1 down low. Two and one.
>> 98 down low.
Two balls and one strike.
>> Can not Can it not Can they just win this game five to two? They get to five to four, I might just die of a heart attack.
>> Two-1 pitch to Lao.
Three and one.
>> And once again, >> oh my god.
>> Leverage goes in favor of the hitter.
Horus at first. Griffin a third of the base runners.
Low fouls it back. So it's a full count.
>> Guess you don't.
>> This is biggest pitch of the night here.
>> I guess you got to make a good pitch basically.
>> You got to make a swing the bat.
>> You don't want to bring the go ahead run up there for three by way of a walk.
guy making some noise here.
>> The 3-2 pitch to Brandon Laauo is a pop up to short. Adamus on the outfield grass makes the catch >> and the Giants are one out away.
>> That's exactly what he did.
>> Brandon, you made a good pitch. It's a big second out and the Pirates last hope.
>> Maybe be a pinch hitter is Billy Cook's spot.
>> So once again, another motivational speech and a pep talk from everybody in that infield.
>> Here's >> Yeah, they're gonna Okay, that's what I thought. Yeah. So, they're going to go to Ryan O'Harn, another pinch hitter.
Another little lefty >> off the bench to pinch hit for Billy Cook.
>> Has been a good hitter his whole career.
292, five home runs, 25 RBI this year for Ryan O'Harn >> coming off the bench here.
>> Just like Lao, he's representing the tying run.
>> 292.
>> So the first pitch to O'Harn with first and third, two out, top nine. Outside corner, good fast ball and one >> Hearn's going to challenge this here.
This could be close.
>> Might be close. See, >> it just caught the outside corner.
>> Pittsburgh has no challenges left.
>> If you're going to go down below, make sure you get it below the strike zone.
You do not want to hang it.
>> You one pitch to a Hearn >> swing and a miss on the curve. 0 and2 Giants one strike away.
crowd. Everyone standing now at Oracle >> 41,024 >> 41,024 all standing 02 staying alive is over and just getting a piece >> still and two out there pitch to O'Harn from Kian in in the dirt. Good block by Bailey. One and two.
>> Taking second on that. Defensive indifference is Horwood. So, it's not a second third, two out.
>> The one-two pitch.
Oh, Hearn just a bit inside. Two and two. pitch.
You see the natural cut with that four seamer working its way in to Ryan O'Harn.
Now you have another chance to go down below the zone. Try bouncy.
>> 35th pitch from Killian 22 to Hearn is a ground ball to third. Chapman throws him out and that's your ball game. The Giants win by a final score of 5-2.
Strong enough for both of us.
Both of us.
I am a giant.
Stand up on my shoulders. Tell me what you see. I am giant.
We'll be breaking underneath our feet.
>> Well, you knew it had to be stressful because it's the San Francisco Giants.
But, you know, this is a much needed win for the Giants. They needed this and they got it. So, good win for the Giants. Winning this game five-2.
Five runs on 12 hits for the Giants. No errors. Pirates score two runs on five hits. And again, as I said, this is a much needed win. The Giants came into this game losing eight of their last nine games.
And they survived. Caleb Killian made it very interesting in the end, but he pitched out of it. Kudos to him.
Brazilian shown by Caleb Killian.
But still very question if the Giants need a damn closer because they do not have a closer on this roster.
But yeah, let's get five to your final.
Giants move to 15 and 23. Pirates go to 2119.
This series right now is one- nothing.
in favor of San Francisco. So time of game in this one is 2 hours and 28 minutes. As I said before, the attendance was 41,24.
So pretty quick ball game at 15 and 23. So eight games below 500 still. See if the Rockies won. I don't even know they played. Oh, the Rockies won. So, the Giants are still in last place in the NL West, but you know, this is a win. They just got to take care of business themselves.
Just got to do that themselves. So, Robbie Ray gets the win for the Giants.
He's now three and four on the season.
And Carmen Ljinsky gets the loss for Whoa, why is it like that? Ljinsky gets the loss for Pittsburgh. He is now two and three.
on the season left on base wise for each team. The Pirates didn't leave many men on base. They didn't get many men on base in general. They left seven men on base. And the Giants as a team, left six men on base. So, six men left on base for the Giants. Seven left on base for the Pirates. So, once again, there'll be no stream tomorrow. No stream Sunday as well. This is the only game in this series that we are live for. So, appreciate you guys to let me update the records, but appreciate you guys stopping by tonight. Once again, no stream tomorrow. No stream Sunday, but we'll be back on Monday. We'll be back for every single game of the Dodgers series, a four game series. We'll be back for every single game starting on Monday. That one that stream Monday will be at 1000 p.m. Eastern time. But again, nothing else this weekend. So, hopefully you guys have a good rest of your weekend. I'll be back on Monday. I hope to see you guys all there.
