Đền Đô is a historically significant temple complex in Bắc Ninh Province, Vietnam, dedicated to the eight emperors of the Lý Dynasty (1009-1225), who established Vietnam's golden age of prosperity and cultural development. Founded in 1030 by Emperor Lý Thái Tông following the death of Emperor Lý Thái Tổ, the temple serves as both a memorial to the dynasty's rulers and a sacred site where their spirit tablets are enshrined. The temple grounds are designed according to traditional feng shui principles, creating a serene and solemn atmosphere. Notable architectural features include the Water Pavilion (Thủy Đình), a wooden structure that appears to float on a large pond, which was historically used by emperors to watch water puppet shows and performances. The temple's pillars and gates are adorned with intricate carvings of dragons, phoenixes, and other traditional motifs, showcasing the advanced artistic and architectural techniques of the Lý Dynasty era. The temple is located approximately 15-20 kilometers north of central Hanoi and is easily accessible by car, motorcycle, or public bus.
