Storms Are Developing Over Southwest Tennessee, Weather Update 3:30 PM , Sunday May 10th 2026Added:
Time for a look at your West Tennessee forecast with meteorologist [music] Brian Davis.
And a very good Sunday evening everyone.
Let's go ahead and take a look at your weather. We got a few thunderstorms that have been trying to fire up over near Shelby County and uh just southwest of Memphis in and around those areas where we do have that one out of five risk uh for this afternoon and evening. Let's go ahead and take a look at the current weather here in Savannah. We've got You can see some of those cumulus clouds kind of rising out there on the horizon.
82° and we've got uh dew point there of 57. That dew point, by the way, it increases as you go further to the west. And here in Milledgeville, we're at 84°, so quite warm today already with a light southwest wind. And again, that dew point coming in at 57. Here in Memphis, uh dew point still at 57, but I tell you it just as you uh move to the south and west, you see that really start to increase into the low 60s and even the uh mid upper 60s a little further south and west. So, uh we got some uh relatively unstable air. And you can see over Memphis kind of a cloudy sky going on right now. We got some of those thunderstorms that have been popping in and around there. And then in a Humboldt, we're at 81 and a dew point of 52. Uh temperatures really warming up out there. Uh Crockett County, Alamo coming in at 84.
Brownsville and Somerville coming in at 84. 81 in Memphis and Covington. Uh we've got 81 in Dyersburg. 81 in Union City. Paris at 81. Camden coming in at 81. Huntington coming in at 81.
Lexington topping out right now at 84.
And we've got 84 in Parsons. And in Selmer coming in at 82°. Those winds are now more out of the north and east right now. And uh we're looking at the uh radar. This also shows the uh and you can see within that outlook that just encompasses parts of Shelby, Fayette, and the little southern portion Tipton County there included as well and then North Mississippi.
We've got that little southwestern corner in that one out of five and then as we look back further you can see the two out of five or the slight risk and then the three out of five which goes back into a portion of Texas. We've got some lightning showing up there but again as we zoom in closer to right in here we've been seeing some of those thunderstorms trying to fire up in and around near Horn Lake just back west of Memphis around West Memphis. Now they're you know, they're trying to bust through the cap. They're breaking loose a little bit there and then they kind of die down a little bit but this is going to be something we'll be watching as the evening goes on and we are anticipating that some of these thunderstorms will fire up and hold together and move across the i-40 area and some of our southern counties Shelby, Fayette, Hardeman County could make it on over into places like Hardin County, Chester County before the evening wears on but just now trying to get its act together with a few of those thunderstorms firing up and they are single storms so we got to got to watch them not all the conditions are there that would be real favorable for like a super sale but there is enough there that we will have to watch as the afternoon and evening wears on. We got that low pressure disturbance. It's going to be brushing by to the south and east right into Mississippi and it will just be brushing southwestern portions of our viewing area as it does so and it's loaded with a very warm and humid air and lots of high dew points so we'll see a lot of the thunderstorms firing up further off to the south and west with again, just a handful of those storms in and around Memphis over to say maybe Bolivar as we head through the uh early evening and then those will kind of spread eastward as the uh night goes on. But again, here's that severe weather outlook. It just clips the southwestern portions of our viewing area. A closer view of that showing uh just the southwestern portions. Now, most of us are not in that, but we will also see some thunderstorms north of I-40, uh but they're just not expected to be in the severe range uh there. But either way, we got you covered. We'll be monitoring.
Here's Future Cast. Really starts to get more active after about 4:00, 5:00, 6:00. Here's the 7:00 hour, 8:00. So, these will be ongoing and again, the most energy with this will be uh from like Memphis over to Bolivar and then uh maybe about as far east as Savannah. But again, no one's immune to getting a thunderstorm. You can see some of those thunderstorms indicated north of I-40 there as we get on into tonight, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00. But again, plainly looking at the uh the worst energy or the the greatest threat is going to be along those southern counties uh from like mainly like Lauderdale, Tipton, Shelby over to Fayette, uh Hardeman, those areas. And then, of course, uh north Mississippi. So, let's go ahead and look at our hourly forecast. Now, for most of us, the storms and scattered storms will be mainly after about 7:00, but you know, this is the hourly out of Jackson, kind of the central portion of our viewing area. But if it like Memphis, uh you guys already have some thunderstorms a-popping there. So, the further southwest you are, the earlier this will be, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 right along in there for you guys. And we could have a lingering shower into about 6:00 a.m. in the morning. Uh then, just partly cloudy skies, uh temperatures down in the uh mid to upper 50s there at the bus stop. No problems there, but again, uh shortly before the buses run, looks like we'll have a few showers winding down, and then we'll top out there at about 74, and the sunshine will be coming on back during the afternoon.
Look at that 7-day forecast. Again, a few showers could linger in there early Monday morning, but then they clear out, and we go to a mostly sunny sky in the afternoon. Uh then mostly sunny Tuesday through Thursday as it stands now uh and then we look at uh just some partly cloudy skies coming into next weekend.
All right, guys, we're watching the weather closely this afternoon and evening. We'll break in if needed if any of those storms out there around Shelby and uh Fayette become severe, we'll jump in, or if they look like they're going to go severe, we'll jump in. We got you covered here on West Tennessee Weather Channel. Hope you have a good rest of your Sunday, everyone.
