K2-141b is an exoplanet located hundreds of light-years away that orbits its star every 7 hours, creating extreme temperature differences between its permanently day-facing side (5,000°F, with molten lava oceans and mineral vapor atmosphere) and its permanently night-facing side (-300°F, with frozen conditions). The planet experiences 'stone rain' as supersonic winds carry mineral vapor from the hot side to the cold side, where it condenses and falls back into the lava oceans as solid rock.

The Most Hellish Planet Ever Discovered: K2-141b Revealed #space #sciencefacts #universe #K2141bAjouté :
Think Earth gets hot? Welcome to K2-141b, a world so extreme it makes our hottest deserts look like a freezer. This hell planet is locked in a tight orbit around its star, completing a full year in just 7 hours. It is so close that the gravity has locked one side in permanent scorching daylight.
>> Temperatures on the day side reach a staggering 5,000° F.
That is hot enough to not only melt rock, but to actually vaporize it into a thick mineral atmosphere.
>> But the night side is a frozen nightmare. With no sunlight, temperatures plummet to minus 300°, creating a world of literal fire and ice. The weather here is insane. It doesn't rain water, it rains rocks.
Mineral vapor is carried by supersonic winds to the cold side, where it hardens and falls back into the lava oceans as stone rain.
