My new house is a MESS (I tried to fix it)

[00:00:26]This is episode number five of me attempting to remodel this neo Georgian house that I bought. I'm doing absolutely everything. The inside, the outside, the garden, everything. I've never done anything like this before, but how difficult can it be? In this video, we're going to focus on the garden. So, in the last video, I ruined my garden that way. Well, now, so in this video, we're going to try and fix it.

[00:00:55]Basically, just to recap, this here was full of bamboo, and bamboo spreads out absolutely everywhere. It's evasive, and if you just leave it, it's going to end up taking over. Hold the entire garden.

[00:01:03]It would be over there, over there, over there, everywhere. So, to cut a long story short, I had to get rid of it.

[00:01:09]Digger wouldn't touch it. Nothing else would touch it. So, we done it with that. And that thing is so heavy that got stuck, made a mess, and um Scotty's tried to fix it.

[00:01:20]Anyway, up here, this was weeds. So Scotty's been busy leveling it all, ready to grass it. Got this roller here, and it's too wet to use at the minute.

[00:01:29]Look, it's all doing that. So this here is all going to be grass. And here's a quick AI picture of how I'm hoping it's going to look like. And I'm probably going to put a nice gristleinia hedge along the woods just to tidy up a little bit. So that is basically the goal of this video. So now we got to empty that dumper truck. It's still too wet really, and it's probably going to get stuck, but we need it for another job, which I'll show you in a minute. But we got to get it out first. And if we just empty all this stuff on the floor, it's so heavy. We're not going to get it back in there again. So, we need to get this lot over there. And to get it over there, we got to go around there. And to go around there, we might get it stuck. Do you want to get it stuck, Scotty?

[00:02:26]So, the dumper truck is only just making it through. I think this is probably the last trip we can do with it. Otherwise, it's definitely going to get stuck.

[00:02:51]So there I want to render that wall. If you watched the last video, you probably established that I'm not the best digger operator, but as with everything, practice makes perfect. And the more I'm doing it, the better I'm getting. What do you reckon, guys? Am I getting better?

[00:03:10]We're going to render that wall there because there's going to be bushes along there. So, here's a little AI picture of what I'm envisioning, but we need to get all that soil out of there cuz soil the plants not going to grow in there. Plus, to get the builder in there to render it basically, we need it gone. We got to get the soil out of there into there.

[00:03:43]So, here's all the mess that I've made in the last video. Try and level it out with this. I don't know if it's going to work or not, but we need to level this out and get some new grass seed on there. I want to get that forklift out of there. Do the last little bits for that. I don't know how you're supposed to do this. I'm hoping you just go over it and level it out.

And next up, I want to get this machine out of here. that's been stuck there for the past few weeks and we need it for getting all the bamboo out because the mini digger over there is not strong enough. So, I've already loosened most of it. So, I've got a few more to do around there and then I want to get the machine out of here. Got a couple of options of getting it out. The original plan was is to flatten it a bit over there and get it out that way. But, that's not going to work because we got that stuck now. So, two options. one is come up here with it and Scotty's been sorting all this hair out so we can grass seed it. So I can come around here and then I'm going to ruin this nice part of the lawn. So Scotty said don't go on that lawn. So I really don't we need to get it out of there. The other option is to take it through that way and go all the way around. But then we ruined the soil that Scotty's made nice.

[00:05:16]But I think that's going to be the only option.

[00:05:22]Hopefully we're not going to get this thing stuck again.

[00:06:09]>> So now I've loosened as much stuff as I can with these forks. And next up, I've got to now try and get this around there and not get stuck.

[00:07:12]>> Yeah, somebody. Look what he's done again. Not content in getting the telly handler stuck. You also want to get the tractor stock as well, eh Kev?

[00:07:29]>> So, the forklift weighs 11 tons. What's that in American terms? Like 24,000.

[00:07:37]So, it pulls the tractor out with ease.

[00:07:39]That was easy.

[00:07:41]But oh my god, look at the size of the hole it's made. Anyway, next up, let's jet wash it all. Everything's covered in mud and I got to clean it. I just bought myself one of these petrol jet washers.

[00:07:52]So, let's try it out and see if we can get this thing all cleaned up.

[00:08:01]That's all nice and clean. And now onto the next one.

[00:08:08]So, Scotty's done the easy bit. So, now I'm going to go and do the hard bit.

[00:08:15]This is fun, isn't it?

[00:08:19]>> Wouldn't it be quicker just to So, that's all that up there all seeded.

[00:08:24]So, now we need to level all this stuff here out so we can do the same. That there is a wood chipper. And there's all bits of wood laying around everywhere.

[00:08:31]And I just want to get a load of wood chippings down in here to try and hold the weeds off and stuff. But first, I got to try and level a little bit of this out, get that machine in, and then just start spreading stuff. And then probably we're going to put a nice bush along here as well. Don't know yet. Just making up as I go along. Haven't really got a clue what I'm doing. Just trying to make me garden nice. At the moment, all I'm doing is ruining it. You know, it's going to be a bad day when Kevy gets on the machine. So, what are you doing, Kev?

[00:09:19]>> Anyway, whatever I was doing didn't appear to be really doing too much. So, let's let Scotty have a go. Carer, let's see how the expert does it.

[00:09:31]Well, then you go over it with a blade at the end.

[00:09:34]>> Okay. So, now we just got to get this stuff here, put it through that shredder, and then just spread it over the whole area. At the minute, the blades have gone blunt, but you can turn these round and hopefully get another go out of them. Oh, that side there perfectly sharp. It might not look like it's got dirt on it.

[00:09:57]Can't get it in the hole, eh? Ah, it's in.

[00:10:26]So >> that's what comes out of it. So, what I'm thinking, we just spread that everywhere. Hopefully, that's going to keep the weeds away. We moved some bushes out the way, and now I can get the forklift in. I'm going to have another go at getting this tree out. It fell over in a storm that we had and has been balancing up in these other trees for a few months now, and it's a bit dodgy. So, hopefully we can remove it.

[00:11:04]I've got no idea how heavy this tree is, but I do not want it landing on top of my head.

[00:11:55]Man, just look how handy that machine is. Look, you can reach all the way in, strap on there. Someone bent the tip a little bit, though. No idea who done that. A lot of people said in the comments that I should not be allowed on these machines, and they're probably right. But I bought it, so I'm going to have to play with it.

[00:12:17]I don't know what you're supposed to be doing, but you got to learn somehow, don't you? And it's easy anyway. Look, we got steering there. Up and down there. Look how easy. Look up.

[00:12:33]Look, it tells you on here when you've pushed it too far. When it's in the red, it'll tip over. We're close. Closer you get it to the machine, the safer it is.

[00:13:26]Look at the turning circle on this thing, man. Fourwheel steering. I think I've done all right there for someone that shouldn't be using one of these machines. It's been a few weeks. I' still been busy in here clearing all this bamboo out. So, I'm going to give you a quick update. Got most of it all cleared now. This is where we got the forklift stuck. That's all flat. The grass over there is coming along very nicely. Bamboo tried to get rid of as much as possible. The trouble is, I keep going on about it. These things here, I think they're called ryones. Look. So, what happens if there's a plant there, it'll put these things out and they go absolutely everywhere. So, this here was all bamboo, but I just want to show you how far it's gotten. So, I'm just over here at the moment trying to dig some more out. It's all gone under here. All the way through here, through there, through there.

[00:14:15]And see, look, there's a bit of it there. Look. So, this thing here, I think it's called a riseome. I think that's how you call it. But that was all the way to over there. So, I've had to get rid of this bush to get it out. But the trouble is, look, it's going off into the field as well. And no idea how far it's gone in there, but I'm going to have to dig all this out. If I leave any of it in, it's going to keep springing up. And then where it's gone around trees, it's very difficult to try and get it out cuz it's all sort of wrapped around the roots of the trees. But I don't want to harm the tree. We got that one there. There's another one here.

[00:14:50]Look, there's two. So I'm going to have to carefully with that just just dig until we get to the end of it. Try not to snap it.

[00:15:02]It's all going to be back down this tree, is it?

[00:15:36]>> At the moment, it is a mess here and eventually I'm going to have it all redone properly, properly landscaped, all looking good. But be so much building works going on. We're going to focus on the inside of the house first and get to this later on. But for now, we still got to make it look presentable. So, what I'm thinking, you can give me some ideas as well in the comments cuz I'm not fully sure yet. I'm thinking steps to come down there all the way along and then this can just all be part of the same paving stuff that we've finally put down when I first bought the house. So bushes on here came as far out as here and then that bush there came as far out as there. You could only just get one car down the middle. So we cut the bushes and then they looked horrible cuz they was bald and so we pulled them out and now it still looks awful. So we thought we just grass it for now. So I' never done turfing before but I can't see it being that hard can it?

[00:19:47]So Scott has gone on holiday. So now I have got to clean up all the mess.

[00:20:03]All the mess is gone. But now the next problem is in this field over there. So if you remember where we got the teley handler stuck, all this wasn't get furable anymore. So the electric mower we got the old yabo over there that goes around and mows all the lawn automatically. He couldn't get through here anymore. So now this field here has completely overgrown. So Scott is just taking off the module so we can show you how this mower is now going to struggle to do that field. So if you look underneath, it's got all these little razor blades under there that cuts to grass. If you're doing nice grass like this, look at the finish on there. Comes out perfect. Trouble is, it can't do long grass. If we was to try and cut that field grass with this, it would just jam up and get stuck and not cut it and make a mess. So, they make a mulch deck now that apparently you can go over long grass with it and it mulches it all up. So, I've got one in the post. It should be here soon. So, I think next video uh we'll try that out and see if we can sort that field out. Let's have a look what the builders have been up to.

[00:21:11]So, these are the radiators that are going in. Cast iron rads. Really classic, but they're making a comeback and I think they're going to be timeless. They still got to give it a few more coats on the paneling. What do you reckon, people? Not quite finished yet, but we're getting there. This here, if you remember, had nothing there. And now we've turned this into a store room.

[00:21:34]This here is going to be the YouTube room. So, this is what the room looked like when I first got the house and then I ruined it a little bit and then the builders fixed it all up again. If you remember what the garage used to look like, so I got some cabinets in there now. Got a sink so you can wash your car.

[00:21:54]Still need to decide what sort of flooring to get. And this some internet box to do something. There's like nearly a mile of this cat 8 internet cable going into every room in the whole entire house. A lot of people say it's complete overkill. We got to try and future proof it a little bit. So, it's getting close and I can move into this place, at least into the apartment. The apartment's in there. That's the bedroom. That's the lounge. The problem is it's a bit gloomy. We got all this here, which is hideous. I absolutely hate it. It's got to come off. And it's so warm and hot in here. There's no way to ventilate the house. We just got these crappy windows that don't open very far. It's It's claustrophobic. It's hot. It's horrible. It's miserable. And eventually this whole contraption is going to come off anyway. And I'm going to put a nicer one on. Once I move out of there, it's going to be the gym in there. And this could be entertainment area. But for now, we got to let it breathe somehow. There's no air.

[00:25:13]It does look a bit ugly, but to be fair, it looked really ugly before anyway. At least now it's not as claustrophobic. We get fresh air in there.
