The meteorologist over-complicates a simple rain warning with technical jargon to assert professional authority. It is a classic high-intellect performance that turns basic common sense into a complex academic lecture.

Weather Impact Alert: Rounds of rain and storms this weekend追加:
Good Saturday morning. It is 7:17.
Waking up to some severe storms on the Northshore and South Mississippi to begin your Saturday. We have severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for all of the Northshore parishes, St. Tammany Parish, into parts of Washington and Tangipahoa Parish. Very strong storm with damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph moving through St. Tammany and also in Washington Parish moving through Bogalusa and heading into Pearl River County. Folsom and Covington dealing with some strong winds and frequent lightning. Also torrential heavy rain.
The storm is moving quickly, but we're watching for damaging wind gusts, also some small hail. And earlier I had mentioned we were watching for possible weak rotation within this thunderstorm that's moving through Washington Parish near Bogalusa. The rotation is too weak, so we're not worried about a tornado right now. We will let you know if that changes, but it is possible we could see a couple more severe storms this weekend. Damaging winds being the top concern, but we'll have to watch for isolated brief and weak tornadoes in some of these storms that today and tomorrow, but that'll be a low chance for tornadoes. I think wind gusts, heavy rain, lightning and small hail, those are our biggest risks with these storms.
Quick look at the velocities, the winds aloft. So, this is a little bit higher off the ground. Earlier it was showing 60 mph winds, 40-50 mph winds. So, yes, we're talking very strong winds even reaching the surface. A wider look at the region right now. This is our first complex of storms moving across the area today. So, we're seeing these storms move from north to south. Severe weather for the Northshore into South Mississippi now, but these storms are going to continue to push southward and they'll be over the lake soon headed towards the Southshore. So, we have a stormy start to the day on the way. If you're north of the lake, you're definitely getting slammed right now.
Make sure you're staying home and waiting this storm out. It is moving by quickly, but there could actually be some isolated street flooding concern since the heavy rain is is so torrential with that storm. So, here we go. Here's our setup this weekend. We have a stalled stationary front over the Gulf South, plenty of moisture, and also we have an upper disturbance headed our way. More active weather to come today, tomorrow, even into Monday. So, the next couple of days over the last 24 hours yesterday, we had severe weather, of course. Several reports of damage. We had wind damage in Belle Chasse, hail reported in the river parishes, and also we had some wind damage in Pearl River County yesterday with those storms that blew in throughout the day. Right now on the South Shore, it's quiet, but storms are headed to the south. They're moving through the North Shore now. It is mild, it's humid, temperatures are in the 70s.
We'll stay pretty mild and muggy all weekend long. So, let's time out these storms today. Right now, we're seeing them slam the North Shore, South Mississippi early this morning, but it looks like they're they're going to keep pushing southward throughout the rest of the morning. We'll likely have more scattered storms off and on throughout the morning and into the early part of the afternoon. The worst of the weather looks to be wrapping up early this afternoon, but we may see a few lingering showers and storms throughout the late afternoon and evening time frame until about dinner time. It's just hard to say exactly where the storms will be setting up in the evening time frame. Just make sure you have your plans flexible, have your rain gear handy. Tonight though, by 7:00 p.m., we should see a a little bit of a wind down, so we should be mostly dry this evening later tonight after 7:00 p.m., and then mostly dry overnight, too. But then tomorrow for Mother's Day, we'll likely have another round of scattered storms throughout the afternoon. It looks like afternoon time frame tomorrow will have scattered storms into the evening. And then Monday, we're still dealing with storms. Early in the day Monday, more scattered storms off and on throughout Monday afternoon into the early part of the evening on Monday, and this is as a cold front approaches. So, we just have wet and soggy weather off and on through Monday. There will be dry breaks in between, but it is kind of an unsettled forecast. Rest of today, temperatures will be in the 70s. Our upper disturbance is going to be moving through the Gulf Coast today, keeping us very active, ample moisture. It's not until we get into Tuesday when dry air moves in behind the cold front and we have much nicer weather coming in on Tuesday, and that will take us into early next week. So, make sure you are staying tuned because we have a low risk of severe weather today, tomorrow, even into Monday. We have a risk for heavy rain and street flooding the next 3 days, but then we finally clear up Tuesday and stay nice for the rest of the work week coming up.
