Sydney’s Hunter Street Metro Station Construction Update - July 2026

The Hunter Street Sydney Metro Station is part of the Sydney Metro West project, a driverless city metro line scheduled to open in 2032 that will connect Hunter Street to Parramatta and Westmead through stations including Hunter Street, Parramatta, White Bay, Five Dock, Burwood North, North Strathfield, Sydney Olympic Park, and Westmead. The construction involves creating a massive underground pedestrian walkway connecting Hunter Street, Martin Place, and Wyard stations, with tunnels extending approximately 38-39 meters below ground level. The project incorporates existing buildings, including the historic corner building and the site of Frankie's Pizza by the Slice, into the new station complex, demonstrating how urban infrastructure development integrates with existing city fabric.
