[00:00:12]Halloween 2018 kind of kicks off the legacy, you know, like the the legacy nostalgia kind of craze. There was other movies like Halloween 2018 before this one came out, but nothing near as popular as this film.

[00:00:24]>> I pray every night that he would escape so I can kill him. So, I I gotta give that one kind of an advantage, I think, here, just because this movie really was special. I don't think we would have Scream 2022 without Halloween 2018 in a lot of ways.

[00:00:42]>> I think it's it is a very fun film. It maybe has some weird plot points here and there, some strange lines of dialogue that don't necessarily work for everybody, but I feel like it is crazy.

[00:00:52]It's a crazy scary and really fun continuation to to in this series. James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers is [ __ ] excellent in this film, dude. I think he he rips throughout this entire film. He's a great Michael Myers. He's in the content. He He's in the Hall of Fame, I think, for sure. Top three Michael Myers like without a doubt.

[00:01:15]And I also just love uh Andy Madach as Allison. Great [ __ ] final girl. I think one of the best scenes in the entire Halloween franchise is right here with scored to the the shape hunts Allison where um you know she sees the she sees Michael for the first time beyond the gate. There's a great kill there where the thing goes right through the dude's the bottom of his jaw that the the one kid I can't remember his name because it's been so long since I've seen this movie. But my god I mean what an excellent scene that that's one of my favorites from the from the entire Halloween franchise. I also love the triumph of the end of this movie which is something you don't really get from the original. So, it's a different flavor. I don't know, man. Halloween 2018, it works for me. It's one of my favorite sequels. It's not better than the original, but I think it's really solid.

[00:02:00]>> Scream 2022 also got some really good things going on. I think that it's got some some pretty great killers, pretty brutal uh twist at the end. And I think the at least for me, I really vibed with the motive. I think the the ghost faces motive was one of the most interesting to dissect. One of the best ones that I think we've gotten from the modern movies and I think has aged very well considering the state of the franchise.

I just wish the characters were a little stronger. I think that's my biggest gripe with this film is I think Scream Scream Five has some of the weakest characters in the franchise. Just a little underdeveloped, not as uh maybe not as strong as some of the other entries, especially the ones that came before, but Scream Five still a really fun really fun watch from start to finish. It's brutal as hell. Got some great kills. Um and it's the start to the core four, baby. It's it's the the core for the beginnings. It's maybe a better title for this one. So, I think it's a it's a really fun watch.

So, we're going to give it another couple of minutes. I watched Halloween 2018 then Scream 2022. Same boat, dude. I saw both in the theaters when they dropped.

[00:03:54]People really excited about these franchises coming back. I had a great theater experience with both of these, too. That was that's another thing. I I don't want to don't want to sound like I'm really favoring one or the other too much. I feel like this is a much closer race, at least for me. But I think like Halloween 2018, it really just comes down to seniority. Like I feel like they established this formula kind of first, made it really popular. So I got to say I I think for me at least, Halloween 2018 is is going to take the take the win for now. Ty, you just watched Halloween 2018 and Kills last week. What a what an odd what an interesting time to watch these movies in here in early summer, late spring. Okay. Hey, hell yeah, bro. That's awesome. This first showdown was tough, but Halloween 2018 gets my vote. It this is a tough one, dude. These are some of the more popular, you know, recquel films. I think they're both from some great franchises. Um, it's it's a t it's a tough one out the gate for sure, but I think that's what makes this uh that's what makes this whole conversation fun.

[00:04:47]All right. Well, it it is uh it's a little closer now with the votes. We've gotten 25 votes. Halloween 68%, Scream at a 32. It is looking like Halloween is moving forward, guys. And Scream is Scream 5 sadly getting left behind. Just for the record, we're all bottoms in this case. We got Scream 6 and Halloween Kills is up next. I feel like another tough one, at least for me. The prequel sequels. Halloween Kills, I think, is a really fun and maybe a tad underrated sequel. It gets a lot of hate because of the whole Evil Dies Tonight thing. I get it. It's a little annoying. evil dies tonight.

[00:05:21]>> But I think this movie is really [ __ ] fun, man. We get to see Michael Myers going on a crazy just killing spree basically the entire time. Most on-screen kills from Mr. Michael. Um, and honestly, some of his most brutal and most silly at the same time. There's some great stuff in here, dude. I I love Halloween kills. Some of my favorite Michael deaths, I think, of the entire franchise. This is one that's grown on me, admittedly, but I really do love it.

[00:05:47]You know what I'm You know what I'm talking about. This is a kill that has grown. Every time I watch Halloween Kills, I like this scene a little more.

[00:05:53]I think it is so [ __ ] funny. And that's the thing about kills to me that I I really appreciate. It is so like all over the place with the tone of its kills. Like you can get some of the most brutal Michael kills in this movie and also some of the silliest. It almost encapsulates like the entire franchise's tone all boiled down into one melting pot of a movie. So, for me at least, Halloween Kills uh it's a blast. It's got a lot of experimental [ __ ] going on too, especially everything going on with the um Tavioli, the psych patient who's running around town and everyone thinks it's Michael. This whole mob mentality and misinformation spreading through the town and forcing some pretty violent acts.

[00:06:33]>> Tell me what >> not everyone's crazy about that. I loved it. I thought it was a fun little little subplot of this movie, personally. So, Halloween Kills always a movie I I've I've really come to and loved. I don't I don't like the ending because of what it does for for um for ends. So, I will say that's kind of a retroactive negative for Kills, but uh I kind of have the same thoughts about Scream 6, weirdly enough. You know, this is another movie where I feel like it's just one big concoction of a ton of different things from the past all boiled down into this one movie. We're doing a bunch of crazy [ __ ] and experimenting all over the place. Not everything works, but what does I feel like is very fresh and and brings some some new life to the Scream franchise, which I will always cherish and appreciate about this film because my god, there are so many Scream sequels where they do not want to do anything different.

[00:07:24]So, Scream 6, it's it's always going to be a big positive in my book that this one actually tried to do something different than the typical formula. Um, especially by, you know, revealing a Ghost Face in the opening sequence, giving us some more brutal kills. Ghost Face is using a shotgun now. I mean, we're we're doing all kinds of different things. The murder mystery might not really land. It's one of the weakest in the whole franchise for sure. But, man, I still have a really fun time with this one. Personally, Scream 6 is getting my vote. We're sw we're we're we're switch I can't even say that. I'm laughing so hard. Scream six was pretty good, not going to lie, but I give it to Halloween Kills. Okay, so see this is a much closer race, I feel, than the last one. This is interesting. We're a little little more back and forth, baby. Ty is saying if they took out the mob mentality stuff, it would have been so much better that it's a it's a simple change. You would have preferred a more simple downto-earth slasher. Just people running after each other, killing each other. That's it. That's all I need, baby. Don't over complicate it. I would have voted for Halloween Kills if they did justice for Michael Myers. He made him a background and a sidekick killer in that movie TBH. Halloween Ends is really the movie where I feel like they turn him into the sidekick killer. I don't know, you know, what the decision-m was there. I'm I'm not 100% sure, but I, you know, maybe it's like, well, there was so much of Michael and Kills that we're going to use less of him in ends. I don't know. But I that's kind of how I've always felt. There was an imbalance of Michael between kills and ends. And had you had you evened that out a little bit, I think uh both of those movies might have might have worked out a little bit better. They kind of have opposite problems, at least in my mind. But David, I appreciate the five. But hang on, it's getting interesting. Val's views, thank you for the five. You're saying Scream 6 dies tonight. Kills is way better than Scream six. The third entries in, you know, different big popular franchises, movies that I feel like we covered extensively here on the page, um, and talked about quite a bit.

[00:10:58]Scream 7 versus Halloween Ends. Who's going to take the win here? Now, I got to be honest, guys. These are two movies that did not work for me at all, and I I really was not crazy about either of them. Um, Scream 7, you know, going into that one, I I definitely had some personal stakes in that film. Um, I had lost a friend months and months before who was really excited for this movie.

[00:11:20]And I I think I really wanted I I just I'm always going to be biased when it comes to this film because I I feel like that it was kind of making fun of, you know, a lot of people in my life who really wanted something to happen in this movie and that didn't necessarily happen. You know, I I'm I've been so embed embedded in the Scream universe for the last five or six years that it's it's hard for me to love a film that's really just like kind of pissing all over the fans and saying, "Fuck, you're you're dumb for uh thinking that this would happen in this movie." Like a certain fan theory. And that that just always is really going to bum me out about the film.

[00:11:50]>> You didn't really think it was Stew cuz that'd be dumb. Steu's dead. So, I I just feel like Scream 7 kind of sucked the fun out of that franchise, and I'm just never going to love I'm just never going to love the film for that reason.

[00:12:04]So, you suck the fun out of Scream. What are you doing? You know, that's like taking the cream out of a donut. Is it even a donut anymore? Is it even a cream filled donut? No, I would argue it's a empty husk of a great franchise is sadly all it is to me. So, I I think I got to give my vote to Halloween Ends. Not a much better film in my opinion, but at least it still kind of carries something that people love about the franchise. It did fulfill a certain fan theory that maybe I'm not so crazy about, but at least it did commit um and tried to do something that like, you know, a certain side of the fan base probably really loves.

[00:12:41]So, I to me I think the reason Halloween ends gets so much love these days is because um it really explored and tried to explain like Michael's whole whole gig like his whole thing like why he's evil, why he's able to kind of continue on and and be this like this crazy evil entity that seems to be almost invincible. Um and it's it's an interesting way of doing it by focusing on a brand new character who's sus susceptible to that evil essentially.

[00:13:07]You know, we have that that line at the end of the film where it's like evil doesn't die or whatever. It just changes shape. It it works for a lot of people.

[00:13:13]It doesn't necessarily work for me, but I just appreciate that it committed to trying to do that that angle to Halloween. Even if it doesn't really feel like something that was really a part of the previous two films that were part of that trilogy. So, I'm I'm personally going to go Halloween Ends on this one because at least it it tried to do that. you know, it tried to do something that would make the fans kind of happy, but doesn't necessarily work for me. But I again, it still celebrates this franchise in a way, and I got to appreciate that about Halloween Ends.

Um, even though I wish I could I wish I could love it. Valen Vamp, however, is is really making sure that Scream 7 moves forward. We have five votes for seven to keep Scream in this bad boy to make it to to keep Ghost Face alive that Ghostface doesn't lose every single round. That would be crazy if Scream 7 is the one that moves forward and and not Scream Five or Scream 6. That's nuts. But I love it. I love to see it. I love to see Ghost Face still alive.
