The UK cost of living crisis is primarily driven by housing and energy costs rising faster than wages, not by food prices or entertainment subscriptions; understanding where your money actually goes through practical financial tracking can help create breathing room, even when the numbers seem out of control.

The Numbers Changed. Now What? | UK Cost of Living
Added:But, what are you going to do about it?
People just ask me all the time, "Well, you go on moaning about it, but you don't do anything about it." And there's just not one answer. I don't know what to do about it, okay?
There isn't a magic budgeting app that's going to fix everything. There isn't a side hustle out there that's going to make you the money that you need overnight.
>> [clears throat] >> There isn't a politician or a government scheme, a subscription that you can cancel that's suddenly going to make life affordable again.
But, there is things that we can do.
It's [clears throat] all about understanding where your money is actually going. So, we can stop blaming ourselves. It's not entirely our fault, okay? That's the biggest thing.
Nobody's failing here. The cost of living has just got completely out of control. But, we can look to create a little bit of breathing room. So, there's cash back apps. We can look to reduce waste. You can start selling some things potentially on Vinted. We can all earn a little extra. So, and we can make better just decisions once we have all of that information. So, what I've done is I've been spending the last few weeks building something. Um it's not a get rich quick scheme. It's not a course, and it's definitely not a miracle solution. It's a practical guide for people who feel like they're working harder than ever, but still wondering where their money goes. Because sometimes it isn't just one big thing.
It's all those little things adding up.
So, having that clarity can sometimes just be enough to really help you give some of that breathing room. Whether it's an extra 25 quid, whether it's an extra 100 quid a month towards shopping.
But, the key is you're not failing. The numbers have changed.
