Why Are Roblox Players Mad At This Game? | Fashion DisasterAdded:
Welcome back, y'all. If you've been watching my channel for a while, you're probably familiar with Monsterverse and Chat Doll. Monsterverse released in beta back in October of 2025, and Chat Doll released as a demo in December. However, Monsterverse has not had an update in a while. The very last one, I believe, released in December, and the full version of Chat Doll is projected to release in the summer. Both communities have been patiently waiting for these games to update, more specifically, the Monsterverse community. Now, there have been some sneak peeks here and there, as well as gameplay news, but that's been pretty much it until recently. Earlier in April, the developers started saying that they had a special announcement to make, which got the community very excited. Many people were expecting the announcement to be about an update.
However, that was not the case. On April 24th, the fan base gathered around the Discord to hear what Peach and the other developers had to say. In addition, the owner of Chat Doll was also in this meeting. They announced that Chat Doll would be merging with Playgirl Dom and a new game is releasing this summer called Fashion Disaster. Now, I was in this meeting and the reception to the announcement was very mixed. Some players were very excited that a new game was in the works, but the overall response that I remember was players being incredibly upset and concerned.
So, in today's video, we're going to talk about what Fashion Disaster is and discuss why people are upset about this game. In preparation for this video, I decided to make a community post where I asked, "What are your thoughts on fashion disaster? Based on what I've read, it seems 50/50." So, I'll go ahead and read some of those comments later on in the video. Before we start, please do not send hate towards the developers or anyone mentioned in this video. I'm all for constructive criticism, but please do not be disrespectful, or in other words, keep it cute or you'll get the boot. Also, I'm still working on the Loftia review video. I'm so sorry it's taking so long. Review videos do take me a little bit longer because I like to take my time, but it will be out soon.
And you better believe I've been playing Loftia literally every single day.
Anyways, with that being said, let's start with the first section of the video.
Now, when Fashion Disaster was first announced, I wasn't too sure what it would be about. All I knew is that it would be related to dress up. However, an official announcement was posted on both Discord and Twitter, which explained exactly what the concept was.
The post said, "The runway isn't safe, and neither are you. Collect clothes, build outfits, then survive whatever gets thrown at you. Floods, fires, chaos, and you still have to look good.
Survival is style, and style is everything. Serve or end up as a hot mess coming this summer." And with the post, it included this image. Based on the description and the image, many people have come to the conclusion that it's a mix of Dress to Impress and Natural Disasters, which are two games I absolutely love, but Natural Disasters is a classic for sure. On the same day, the Fashion Disasters Tik Tok page posted this video.
Now, for those who aren't chronically online, this is basically inspired by mobile ads. This specific video did kind of remind me of this game I used to play called Project Makeover. I still get a bunch of ads about it to this day.
Basically, these ads are a bunch of rage bait. You have to help the person in the game make good decisions for their outfit and makeup. And it always starts off good, but then as soon as you get to the end, the person chooses the worst option ever. And it's so annoying. Now, I believe this specific Tik Tok is most likely inspired by this one game where the mom and the daughter go to this house and they try to fix it up after they get kicked out by the husband. I don't remember what it's called, but I always felt sad cuz then they're stuck in the cold and freeze to death or something. I will say though, the one from Fashion Disaster is really funny and there's a bunch of comments of people reacting positively to it.
However, I did find comments of people complaining about the game and how Monsterverse isn't being prioritized.
Someone commented, "Instead of releasing new games, they should be updating Monsterverse. It's unacceptable that I invested my money into the game and it got abandoned and then they have the nerf to say, please no hate." I also saw a comment where somebody said, "Is this game also going to be released 20 years too early and end up dying as a result?"
And Fashion Disaster responded, "Mommy, no."
I'm not going to lie, that was kind of funny. But yeah, this is pretty much the sentiment I've been seeing everyone have. Whether you go on Discord, Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram, the responses are basically the same. But the question is, can we actually blame players for feeling this way? Personally, the answer is no. In my opinion, I genuinely feel like it's a valid concern that people have, especially if you're one of the players who put money into the game.
Whether it's game passes or you're a Kofi member, it makes sense to feel skeptical or concerned about the development of Monsterverse, especially when they're announcing new projects. I do think if there was more frequent updates, people wouldn't react the same, but the fact we haven't had an update since December, I understand why people are mad. Also, I've seen people bring up past projects that the developers were working on and how those ended up, which I do think adds fuel to the fire for some people, and so I think it's valid that it's being talked about as well.
With that, let's move on to the next section.
Now, for those who don't know, there was a game that came out back in 2023 named Astro Renaissance. This game was created by Comet Studios and there were a bunch of developers involved in the making of this that you might know of, such as Gigi, the owner of Dress to Impress, not Thiago and Moto Princess, who worked on Dress to Impress, and Peach, the owner of Monsterverse. I made a video a few years ago talking about this game. I pretty much explained what happened and why people forgot about the game. But to summarize, people started playing Astro Renaissance after Royale High had a bad situation with Call Me Haley and players were just tired of Royale High in general, so they started migrating over to Astro Renaissance. The game quickly blew up, but due to development issues, it ended up getting discontinued. Now, besides Astro Renaissance, I did see people bring up another game called Royalty Kingdom 2. This game released back in 2022, and I remember seeing a lot of creators make videos about it and playing it. Unfortunately though, the game didn't last for too long. The following year, on July 25th, the owners announced that the game would be discontinued. Now, I'm not too sure what happened after this, but the game revived on October 8th of 2023, and they released another update. But then on August 22nd of 2024, they discontinued it again. Then on December 27th of 2024, Playgirl Dum ended up buying the game and it's now been rebranded to Tiara Tales. Anyways, the reason that people are bringing these projects up is because the developers haven't worked on them or they didn't end well. So, they feel like the same thing is going to happen with Monsterverse. However, I do want to bring up some information regarding this. Peach has talked about Astro Renaissance in the past. They were just making a game for fun and it blew up out of nowhere. And based on what Peach has said, they were very young.
They were all still teenagers. So, they weren't ready to take on this type of responsibility considering the majority of them were still in school. So, for this project, I completely understand.
Also, a lot of these developers ended up moving to Dress to Impress. So, I'm sure that also did not help. As for Tiara Tales, I do feel like the game was already going through a rough patch with the original owners. It got discontinued twice, so it's possible it would happen again. And it seems like Peach bought the game because she knows it has a lot of potential. But from my understanding, there still hasn't been any work done towards the game, specifically as Tiara Tales. In my personal opinion, I feel like Astro Renaissance isn't good for the argument. However, Tiara Tales makes a little more sense. I've seen a lot of people talking about this game and asking about updates, but there really isn't a lot of information regarding the future of the game. However, during that meeting, Peach did talk about Tiara Tales since people were bringing it up, and she did say they're still working on that game. Now, she didn't say when an update would happen, but I'm hoping we get something this year considering the game has been dead since 2024. So, a little bit over a year since it got bought. And that's pretty much it for this section. In the next section, we'll talk about the future of Monsterverse and Chat Doll.
Now, during the meeting, we really didn't get a lot of information regarding Monsterverse and future updates. Based on what I remember, they were basically saying they were taking their time with updates because they wanted them to be meaningful and not just something that they put out quickly. They also mentioned how they would do updates just for the dressup aspect and then people would get upset wondering where the gameplay was. And then when they would do gameplay updates, people would be like, "Hey, we need more dressup." So, it was kind of causing issues with how the game would be developed. Now, Peach did say during the meeting that Monsterverse would get an update before Fashion Disaster would even release. She also clarified that Fashion Disaster and Monsterverse are being worked on by two different teams.
And if I remember correctly, Noah, the owner of Chat Doll, did say that the Chat Doll group is the one working on Fashion Disaster. However, even with this information, people were still feeling a bit skeptical. Fast forward to April 26. Peach made an announcement in the Discord regarding the situation.
Hello, ghouls. I wanted to make a more personal statement following the feedback around the announcement of our second upcoming game, Fashion Disaster.
Ironically, I've seen a lot of you calling it a hot mess. We've taken in multiple perspectives, and I understand where the frustration is coming from.
Because of that, I've decided to return to the original update approach I had planned for Monsterverse. Smaller, consistent, mini updates with larger, more impactful updates every two to 3 months. The schedule shifted because honestly, our reception was not only big, but a huge mixed bag of different perspectives. I myself made the mistake as the owner of not giving myself grace, and I made a mental note to never again release something where it doesn't meet the standards of everyone else. I felt ashamed in that regard. So, I halted all future planned mini updates and decided one big update where quality would be assured would please everyone and maybe even myself. I've been focused on making sure everything we release meets a certain level of quality, detail, and intention. I care deeply about what I create because Monsterverse means everything to me. And I want that beauty and passion to be felt in every experience we put out. That said, I also understand that waiting without content isn't fun. That to others, the choice might seem thoughtless and honestly dumb. Because at the end of the day, My Call decides how things will play out for our community and the game. As a step forward, we will be releasing a mini update before clubs May 15th. This is just a small update while we continue building our larger gameplay systems behind the scenes. We truly appreciate your patience while we work on making Monsterverse something special. I'm really happy that Peach took the time to address the community directly because there has been a lot of misconceptions.
In summary, Fashion Disasters would not interrupt the development of Monsterverse and there will be an update on the 15th of May. As for Chat Doll, the information I have on my end is that they merged over with Playgirl. And as of right now, Chat Doll is still projected to release in the summer. Now, before any of this, the owner of Chat Doll did release a game called Tsunami Outfit Rush. As of right now, I'm not too sure if there will be more updates to the game. We'll just have to wait and see. Now, like I mentioned at the beginning of the video, I do want to go over some comments that I found under my community post. The first comment is from just is 2477. It sounds fun, except Monsterverse hasn't had an update for a while, but I believe we're getting one next month, so as long as they keep up with Monsterverse, it sounds great.
Hatutsune Miku commented, "It's kind of giving if Natural Disaster Survival and basically any fashion game on Roblox had a baby, and I'm so here for it." Tyer 6697 commented, "Anything but finishing their games, I guess." It's Honey YouTube commented, "Why are we making new games when the other ones aren't even finished?" Zamkuma commented, "I feel like they need to stop jumping from project to project. like just focus on one thing, make it perfect, and then create something else once that success is established. Nothing ever gets finished with how they're moving.
Wonderland Landian comment said, "It looks super fun, but my issue is I feel like they should wait till Monsterverse and Chat Doll are more finished games before making a new one, but I'll still be playing as it looks like a fun twist in the cookie cutter dressup game format." Living for Sugar commented, "The teaser for the game was hilarious.
Why do we choose to reject fun? And the very last comment is from Rotten the Rat. I love Monsterverse and Chat Doll a lot. And while I think it's really cool that they're exploring unusual ideas and being more creative with new games, I must admit that I think it's definitely a weird timing that they're releasing new games while Chat Doll and Monsterverse have no updates yet. While I don't have any issue with waiting for updates and such, I just know that some people are not going to like this at all. But oh well, who knows what'll happen. I just wish that they could do a road map of their games and updates so people could know what to expect since we don't know anything at all at the moment. And with that in mind, I want to go ahead and give my final thoughts on how I feel about the whole situation.
Let's move on to the final section of the video.
I want to start off by saying I feel like the criticism and concerns are 100% valid, especially if you're someone who invested money into these games. It's only natural to feel concerned that the game you genuinely care about might get shelved. However, as Peach mentioned, Monsterverse is still being worked on and there's a whole separate team working on Fashion Disaster. I feel like the timing of the announcement might be the main reason why the news wasn't received well. But part of me also feels like if Monsterverse had consistent updates, people would still feel upset because the game isn't finished yet and there isn't much gameplay at the moment.
Honestly, as long as both games are being worked on at the same time, I'm chilling. And I'm saying this as someone who's a Kofi member for both Monsterverse and Chat Doll. So, trust me, I get the frustration. Personally, when I heard the news, I was excited because the game sounded interesting.
But like most people, I did feel a little confused and a bit worried.
However, after Peach and Noah explained the separation in teams and that Monsterverse is the main priority, I felt at ease. It's not abnormal for Roblox dev studios to work on multiple games at once. Obviously, one game will be prioritized more than the other, usually the more successful one. But I will say Peach has expressed that Monsterverse is like her baby and she cares about it too much to push it off to the side. Also, this might sound irrelevant, but I wanted to briefly talk about it. From my understanding, the developers are in their early 20s, and I remember when I was their age, I was constantly moving from project to project and just working on multiple things. I tried being a web tune creator. Then I started doing art commissions. Eventually, I opened a shop on Etsy and started selling stickers and keychains. I started doing pop-up shops.
But one day, I started streaming. I loved it and I stopped doing art completely and now I'm here. My point is, I think it's normal to want to explore and try new things, especially when you're constantly doing the same thing over and over again. This is actually something that the co-owner of Monsterverse, Vivv, talked about during the meeting. They expressed how working on Fashion Disaster made them feel inspired again and motivated them to start working on Monsterverse ideas.
This is kind of similar to what I've been going through. I've been talking about DTI for so long and I finally got bored and burnt out. So, I've been changing topics and now I feel so much better and motivated to make more videos. So, I definitely get what they're talking about. Personally, I feel like as long as Monsterverse and Chat Dog get finished, I'm fine with them working on different projects. In conclusion, # fashion disasterhotgirl summer. Anyways, thank y'all for watching today's video. I really appreciate it. Let me know in the comments down below how you feel about fashion disaster. Are you excited for it or do you feel upset? Okay, bye. See you in the next one. Bye. Okay, bye. See you. Bye.
