The video transcends typical travel vlogging by offering a thoughtful reflection on the shared post-colonial consciousness that binds Southeast Asian nations. It effectively uses historical sites to bridge the gap between personal discovery and regional identity.

INDONESIAN First Time in Manila 🇵🇭… I Didn’t Expect THIS!Added:
Hello everyone.
I hope that you guys are doing okay. So today is my second day in Manila, Philippines. And today I'm about to explore two of the most historic places in the country. Regel Park and Intramuros.
As someone from Indonesia, I feel like there is something familiar here. Our country share a similar past, colonization, struggle, and independence. So today I want to experience not just the places but also the story behind them. So guys, welcome back to my channel everyone. I hope that you guys are doing okay. So as you already can see the title in this video I will exploring regional park and also the wallet city of Manila in Trauros. Uh guys this is my day two here in Manila Philippine. So whenever I visit another country I want to learn the history, the culture, the food, anything else that I want to know from that country. So in this video I will show you about the culture in the Philippine especially regal park and also intramoros. So guys I'm so excited to explore this places because this is one of my bucket list when I want when I go to the Philippine to explore regional park and also uh intramuros.
So as you can see behind me there is the monument of Jose San Jose.
Sorry if I'm mistake Jose Rizal National Monument. So actually this kind of feel like I'm at the monument national or mon in Jakarta.
So against the similarity it's insane guys because every time I visit another place here in Manila Philippines there's always like remembering remember me to one of the places in Jakarta just like in Regel Park. Regel Park is just kind of remind me to monument now. So again, it feels like home already for me because it feels like I'm still in my hometown but with the another people. I mean because you guys are speaking Tagalog, right? So that's maybe the differences but the place, the vibes, the weather, it's pretty hard actually in here. But hey, I'm so excited because this is one of my back of this country to explore.
And today is my day too. And let's go explore regramors with me. And after that, maybe I will go to one of the oldest Chinatown in the world to Vinando. But I will make separate video for that uh video when I explore Vinando. So if you're Filipino, please uh comment if I miss something.
And if you are Indonesian watching my YouTube right now, let's go explore Regel Park and also Intramuros with me, guys. So, let's go.
Right now, I'm standing at Regel Park, also known as Lunetta. At first glance, it looks like a peaceful city park. But this place hold deep historical meaning for the Filipino people.
This park is named after Jose, one of the greatest heroes in the Philippine history. During the Spanish colonial era, this place was killed by Gumbayan and it was used as a execution ground. In 1876, Joseel was executed right here. But instead of silence the people, his dad ignite a revolution through his reading. Like Noli Mener, he exposed the injustice of colonial rule and inspiring Filipino to fight for freedom.
Today, Regel Park stand as a symbol of courage and nationalism.
Walking around here feels calm. You see families, tourists, people just enjoying their day in this park, but at the same time, there's a strong sense of history in the air. It's like the past and present exist together in one place. And all right guys, time for a small but important experience trying ice cream here. And I found a local vendor inside the park. So let's go there and try the ice cream.
>> So how much?
>> Uh 50 30 small 30 small 50. The large one.
>> The large one. Yes.
>> Uh, you want mix?
>> Yes. Mix.
Oh, sorry. 50, right?
>> Thank you.
And guys, it's really refreshing.
Simple, but perfect for the hot weather in Manila.
Sometimes travel isn't just about a big landmark. It's also about this little moment that makes the experience reals.
Now we're heading to Intra Muros, one of the oldest and most historic area in Manila, Philippines.
And here we are, Intra Muros. The names mean within the walls. And as you can see, this place is literally surrounded by massive stone walls. Intramuros was built by the Spanish in the late 15s. It served as the politicals and military center of their colonial rules in the Philippines. Back then only Spaniards and elite Filipino were allowed to live inside this wall. Everything here was designed for control and defense. One of the K landmark here is Fort Santiago.
But unfortunately, I didn't go to Fort Santiago. But this fortress was used to protect the city and it also became a prison. In fact, Joseal was held here before his execution.
Walking through Gintramuros feels like traveling back in time. The coello stone street, the Spanish style buildings, it's very different from modern Manila outside. Honestly, it kind of remind me a bit of Kotatoa in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Same colonial vibe, same historical atmosphere.
And now I'm visiting one of the most iconic landmark here, Manila Cathedral.
The cathedral is one of the most important churches in the Philippines.
The Manila Cathedral was first built in 1571 during the early Spanish period. But interestingly, it didn't just stay strong all the time. It has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to earthquakes, wars, and even World War II. The current structure you see today is reconstruction section completed in 1958.
Despite everything it has gone through, it still stand as a symbol of faith and resilience.
During World War II, Intramuros was heavily dematched, especially during the battle of Manila in 1945.
Many building was destroyed and thousand of life were lost. What we see today is a combination of restoration and history.
Exploring Regel Park and Intrammoros is more than just visiting a tourist port.
It's about understanding the story of the Philippines, a story of colonialism, struggle, and independence. As an Indonesian, I feel a strong connection to their journey. Different country but very similar history.
Guys, today was amazing. And as Indonesian who visiting Philippine for the first time, I've learned that Manila is not only known for their mall and also traffic jam, but it has that deep history uh historical, beautiful historical places like Rial Park and also in Ros. So guys, I'm impressed. I'm impressed. And to be honest, it kind of remind me to Oldtown or Kotatua in Jakarta. So once again, every places here in Manila is kind of remind me back home in Jakarta. So I feel like I'm home already.
And yeah, guys, maybe that's it. That's all I can show you about Regel Park and also Intramaria here in Manila, Philippines.
If you guys have any suggestion, what should I go next for my next video, please let me know in the comment section below.
