Testing the Robotic Arm Virtually #robot #robotics #maker #raspberrypi #ros2 #ubuntu #python #techAjouté :
This robot runs on a tiny computer, a Raspberry Pi. But every time I want to test a small code change, I have to power everything on and set up the robot. So instead, I do most of my development on my laptop. But how do I test the code without the robot? Since my robot uses ROS, the robot operating system, I develop inside a Ubuntu virtual machine. Then, I create a fake ROS node that pretends to be the robot hardware. The rest of the software doesn't even know the difference. When everything works, I copy the code to the Raspberry Pi and do the final test on the real robot. Thanks for watching.
