The claim was widely circulated online but was later described by his organization as false, fabricated and damaging to his reputation. Those who support the arrest argue that deliberately publishing and amplifying false information about a public figure's personal life can cause real harm and should attract serious consequences, especially when it is done knowingly. However, critics including Omo say even if the claim is false, it does not justify arrest. They maintain that defamation is a civil matter that should be addressed through legal action like lawsuits, retractions and damages, not through detention. This leaves a central question. [00:01:40]I didn't hear what the initial um statement said or the videos but then hearing it just to give context uh an 18 year old boy has been arrested for having put up alleging that the Tony Alumu had divorced his wife and apart from his there are a couple of other videos out there you know insinuating a few other things. There's a video showing um insinuating that the >> his children are not his >> his children are not his, you know, and there's one also alleging that his daughter may have HIV and they came up with a fake hospital report showing that and the man after Tony Lumelu his organization after um saying that this was false and fabricated went ahead to re arrest this young man. So people are saying he has gone too far. After all, he's on social media himself. If he all he has to do is to just say that that was false and move on or handle it or should he get police involved to arrest someone for having saying just saying things against him?

You're coming to the character of the wife >> when you call the children illegitimate and that he found out that the children were not ease.

So all these spiral videos I saw later on must be from that person. I'm hoping that out of the three they pick they pick that br because they had to pick him.

You did not retract unlike the young boy whose sister has come out to say he retracted when he found out his source was you know and all of them are on Twitter even sorry on social media social it was a Tik Tok video that guy did and you know they must have the way he was talking it was too convincing for somebody who didn't have evidence of what he was saying and so everybody that followed suit and started doing videos must have relied on him they have to find that person whose video was the very first who was too convincing for something he had no evidence of them. You now come to a man, you go to his family, you go to his wife, you go to his children and then you say there's limits to how he will enforce the law. I don't understand if the law gives us option of assault being a battery and an assault that is can be criminal, it can be civil and I choose say you slap me. I could have sued you.

[00:06:26]But when I look at it and say no your 20,000 cannot that they used to treat me just cannot compensate me. That's not justice. Let them put the justice. If I look at the law and the one for criminal is justice for me. Will somebody come and teach me which one I should exercise?

So I can it's and and you can be um if the process goes through you can be sentenced to as much as 3 years imprisonment for defamation. So when this kind of statements people just make statements and say oh I saw online and then you set camera and or you also posted a video or you also did a rejoiner or you're publicizing and republishing a content you cannot verify. I am I believe that we should have more punitive 3 years, 2 years, one year imprisonment so that we would have less people jump on trends because they want to make that money from social media. Because guess what? If you do get a lot of views on Tik Tok, you get a lot of money from from Tik Tok. And if you come there and talk about how somebody's family, the children are not their children, people will keep resharing. Do you do you know do you know the places they said lie travels faster than the truth? How long will it take this person to I mean um to the lumin and his wife to start explaining it is just social media. It is extremely irresponsible for anybody to go out there even if you have facts if you have DNA evidence if you saw everything through um in the hospital or something. You have no right to come out and publish somebody else's.
