Workers also claimed that the company confiscated their passport force and severely limited access to health care and emergency transportation. The workers who employed at the quarry for up to 3 years said recruitment promises made in India did not match the harsh conditions they encountered in Guyana.
They alleged that wages were delayed for months, pay slips were never provided and deductions were made without explanation. The concerns intensified following the sudden death of an employee while workers suggested overwork and unsafe conditions contributed.
