An asteroid passed closer than the ISS, raising concerns and sparking global interest. #shortsAdded:
On October 1st, 2025, an asteroid silently flew closer to Earth than most satellites, and almost no one saw it coming. Asteroid 2025 TF passed just 265 miles above Antarctica, roughly the same altitude as the International Space Station. At only 3 to 10 ft wide, it posed no major threat. But, had it entered our atmosphere, it would have produced a blazing fireball. Incredibly, astronomers only detected it hours after it had already passed. NASA's [music] Catalina Sky Survey and ESA's Planetary Defense Office scrambled to track it down, [music] and it wasn't alone. A second asteroid followed the very next day, and in just 1 week, 10 asteroids passed closer to Earth than the moon. Space agencies are watching, but the universe moves fast.
How prepared are we, really?
