Special day for the Nigerian Navy as it commemorates 70th anniversary of its existence.
>> [screaming] >> More significantly, with an international fleet review, first of its kind by the country.
The nation's guard of territorial waters is marking seven decades of operational excellence and showcasing its current capabilities with area combat display and parade of array of assets alongside that of their international partners in the Gulf of Guinea.
It also came with three new additional ships commissioned by the president.
>> [applause] >> President Tinubu commended the milestone achievements of the force and its outstanding role in national and regional security.
This he said has contributed to the national economic growth.
>> Through effective integration of surveillance system, rapid response mechanism, and robust enforcement operations, you have successfully eradicated piracy in our waters and I and significantly curtailed crude oil theft and associated maritime crimes. Thank you very much.
Beyond the maritime domain, I also commend the Nigerian Navy for its contribution to counterterrorism and counterinsurgency all operations across the country.
>> The Commander-in-Chief wants the force to sustain the momentum, particularly in support of the administration's blue economy aspirations.
>> And my deep appreciation to our international partners for their invaluable contribution to security efforts in the Gulf of Guinea.
The inauguration of the combined maritime task force served as a clear demonstration of our collective resolve to strengthen multinational cooperation.
The task force will no doubt be a valid infusion of cooperation capability in securing our shared maritime domain.
