Transnistria is a self-declared independent region between Moldova and Russia that maintains Soviet-era symbols like Lenin statues and unchanged state flags since the Soviet Union, yet no country recognizes its independence; visitors must use the local name 'Pridnestrovie' and should research current conditions before traveling, as the region requires passport checks and border crossings despite being within Moldova.

Have you been to Russia?
Our generation, they have nostalgia and I can tell you >> Older generation is nostalgic to the USSR times.
>> Yes. Yes, I can tell you why. Many people from Western Europe, in my opinion, they have they do a small mistake, listen only one position.
They just listen. This not about you personally, but in general. They just listen for news USSR, everything was gray.
I don't know.
Like South Sudan, for example, for me now. I don't know, Sudan or South Sudan or or Cambodia or I don't know, something very bad. Which I have never been there and I think, "Oh, it's catastrophe."
This is the only the customs of Moldova where you can make videos. It's not a problem. You can make photos. Yeah. But on the proper border, where in the middle stays the peacekeepers, let's say Russian army under peacekeeper mission. Yeah. It's not a good idea to make pictures or videos. Okay.
joke and they are what?
From From here, from here is already the territory of All right, passport check.
No, you're in you're in it. You're in it now. So, I met some more friends.
Hi.
>> From England. Hello. Jake and Jack. And we're trying to get arrested. We're doing a challenge. Who can be the first one to be arrested? So.
They told me to delete all my footage. I did, but I quickly saved it into my iCloud, of course. Crimean War. Yeah.
Crimean War, it was a war between Russian Empire and Ottoman Empire.
We're going to change some money now.
Moldovan lei into Transnistrian rubles. Not sure what kind of money they use here, but we'll see.
All right, changed 200 Moldovan lei and I got uh about 100 rubles, I guess.
We're still in Bender. On the way to Tiraspol now, but we stopped at this monument right here.
There's a tank right there as well.
Let's check it out.
Later we're going to a Russian cantina, he said. A very old classic Russian restaurant.
Sounds cool.
Look at this.
Здравствуйте.
All right, museum was cool. Now, let's check out this Lenin statue right here.
Supposedly one of the biggest Lenin statues in the world, he said.
Vladimir Lenin.
So, these are all the flags of the seven rayons that Transnistria has.
And that right there is the official state symbol that they never changed since the Soviet Union, as you can see.
We are going now to Soviet canteen. What are you going to eat?
We're going to eat potatoes, buckwheat, schnitzel, [music] kind of chicken schnitzel. Maybe some Russian style of sausages. Okay, perfect.
All right, so we have arrived at the Russian canteen.
It's right there, stolovka. It's a Soviet bunker.
We will eat in bunker, okay? Oh, fantastic.
Just try.
Just try.
Oh, fantastic.
Soda, Soviet style What's Soviet style? Soviet style, this is soda.
Uh I'll I'll get one of those. Let's say sweet water. Sweet water, Soviet Soviet style.
I'll get that.
Sounds good.
Pills, yes? Mhm. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, five pills. I know, yeah, that's five pills.
So, this is what we have. We have chicken, kartoshku, which is potato, borscht, of course, and some Russian water. And we're eating it in a bunker, as you can see.
Couldn't make me any happier.
Very good.
>> [music] >> This is how it's supposed to look like.
>> [music] >> Let's try chicken.
Very, very [music] good.
And potato.
Proper meal.
Proper Russian meal.
>> [music] >> What a fantastic meal. Now we're back here on the streets of Tiraspol trying to find some more Soviet sites.
And look what I just ran into.
Dom Sovietov.
House of the Soviets.
Would you look at that?
So, we came from Lenin Street, walked on 25th October Street, and now we're reaching Yuri Gagarin Street.
And there's a statue of him right here.
The first man in space, Yuri Gagarin.
So, we've took another break. My friends are in that shop right there buying some souvenirs. I figured that the Transnistrian money that I have I I still have three rubles.
I think that's my souvenir for this for this trip. So, I'm quite happy that I went here.
It's really cool to see all these Lenin statues, all these communism symbols.
But now we're going back to Chisinau and we're stopping on our way back in Bender again to visit the fortress this time, which is the main site in Bender. So, that should be fun. I will see you there. And after that, I will see you on our way to Chisinau.
So, Bender, the city where we are right now, or city or like village, is a border town.
So, we're close to the border again with Moldova.
Ulitsa Tozhe Muzey.
Street House Museum.
All right, we've arrived at Bender Fortress.
Old Moldovan, built up by the Ottomans as well.
Alexander Nevsky.
Yes. From the famous church in Sofia.
The famous church in Sofia, the big one, the biggest one. And this church is also Alexander Nevsky church, this one. In the past was a mosque built by by Ottomans.
The same building was a mosque, but since 1770, the Russians occupied this territory and they rebuilt it into a church.
Alexander Nevsky church.
What a way to another awesome memory to this trip.
Right at the end.
Fortress cat.
And that was the tour.
Loved it.
Especially ending it here at this beautiful fortress in Bender.
Couldn't have asked for a better last day here in Moldova.
Flying to Istanbul tomorrow where this trip will come to its conclusion.
So, we made it across the border and we're still alive. We didn't get killed today in Tiraspol.
But only because he went with me as a guide.
>> [laughter] >> That's why.
>> [music] >> Back in Chisinau.
>> [music] >> Bye, guys. Have a good trip.
See you in another life.
Bye.
Here we are again.
What a day. I have zero energy left, but I hope I was able to capture everything well enough. I will see you tomorrow morning at breakfast and then on our way to the airport to catch our flight to Istanbul. Spokoynoy nochi.
