Here’s nightmare my bar exam story #kimkardashian

[00:00:02]Since we're talking about Kim Kardashian and bar exams, I'm going to tell you guys a story of the New York bar exam in 2007, okay?

[00:00:10]Anyone from back then remembers this.

[00:00:12]So, to prepare for the bar exam after law school, everyone relies on this one company called Barbri to teach classes that essentially like summarize all the subjects and what you're going to see on the exam.

[00:00:28]So, I took two states. I took New York and New Jersey.

[00:00:31]So, to prepare for New York, I signed up for the Barbri class teaching all these New York subjects. I think New York had 26 subjects or something like that.

[00:00:40]So, at the end of the summer, we're getting ready and the and one of the teachers says, "Listen, I've been doing this for a long time. I've never seen a bar exam question about commercial paper."

[00:00:54]Commercial paper is like checks, bonds, you know, things that transfer monetary value on paper.

[00:01:03]And this dude is like, "If you have to like skip something, skip that if you're short on time and focus on evidence, criminal procedure, blah blah blah blah blah."

[00:01:12]So, I take his advice. So, then we're going to we go to I go to Albany and to take the exam and it's like in person, handwritten.

[00:01:23]Everybody is like seated in this huge convention center and every is like every other third every third person got the same test, so you can't like copy.

[00:01:35]And then the proctor says, "Okay, go."

[00:01:39]So, you hear like the entire place like open the exam and I [ __ ] you not, 1/3 of the place, including me, was like, >> [gasps] >> because >> [laughter] >> the first exam question for the New York bar was "Rob goes to his mother's house and finds her checkbook and needs to pay Tom so Rob, you know, signs a check forging his mother's signature to Tom and Tom endorses it over to Sally and Sally goes and cashes the check like the whole [ __ ] question is about commercial paper and I was like this is the first question.

[00:02:21]>> [laughter] >> I'm completely unprepared.

[00:02:24]>> [snorts] >> So I was like okay, okay Teresa, it's okay. I was like all right, you have checks.

[00:02:29]You know, so then I'm like okay, the four elements of a check are you know, the date pay to the order of the amount you know, the memo line, the signature, the endorsement so then I went back and handwriting and I was like okay, the six elements of a check >> [laughter] >> So that's why it makes me laugh that Kim Kardashian could think she could just come off the street you know, at pass the bar exam because you memorize the rules of evidence or whatever when like people who had actually spent the last 3 years had a panic attack over a commercial paper exam question because this is hard.

[00:03:09]But anyway, that made me laugh. But by the way, I passed the New York bar and the New Jersey bar the first time.
