FRACCIONES EQUIVALENTES Superfacil - Para principiantesAdded:
What's up? I hope you are doing well. My name is Daniel Carrión and today we will see one of my favorite topics, equivalent fractions. But before we begin, let's review some basic concepts.
Look, this is a fraction and it's read as 3/4. The top number is called the numerator and the bottom number is called the denominator. The denominator tells us how many equal parts the whole will be divided into, and the numerator tells us how many parts will be taken from the whole.
Equivalent fractions are those that represent the same quantity or value, even though they have different numerators and denominators. To make this clearer, let's look at some exercises.
Here I have three fractions. They are read as 1/2, 3/5 and 2/4. First let's see if they are equivalent, that is, if they are worth the same when doing a division, because yes, fractions can also be read as division. This can be read as 1/2, this as 3/5, and this as 2/4. Now, let's do the divisions. 1 / 2 gives us 0.5 as a result.
3/5 gives us a result of 0.6 and 2/4 gives us a result of 0.5. As you can see, these two fractions have the same result, 0.5.
Therefore, we can say that these two fractions are equivalent. This means that they are worth the same, even though they are expressed differently. Easy peasy, right?
To make this clearer, let's look at it as a graphic representation, that is, let's look at it as a drawing.
Look, here we have 1/io. First we put an integer. Since the denominator is two, I divide it into two equal parts. And since the numerator is one, I only color a part of the whole. And that's it. This is how we represent 1/2 of the drawing. Here we have 3/5. I'm putting my whole heart into it. Since the denominator is cco, I divide it into five equal parts. And since the numerator is three, I color three of those five parts. Have you seen it yet? And this is how 3/5 is represented in a drawing. Here we have 2/4. I draw my whole self. Since the denominator is four, I divide the whole into four parts. And since the numerator is two, I only color two of those four parts. And this is how 2/4 is represented in a drawing. You can probably tell at a glance which fractions are equivalent, but to make it clearer I'm going to draw a straight red line. Here it can be seen more clearly that 1/10 and 2 quarts are equivalent fractions, since the same part of each whole was colored with both.
Remember that equivalent fractions are those that are expressed differently, but have the same value.
Easy peasy, right?
Next, I'm going to give you some exercises. Will you be able to solve them? I look forward to seeing your answers in the comments.
I hope you liked this topic.
