This Big Box Store Fertilizer Has 11 Essential Nutrients Including Humic Acid and Sea KelpAdded:
All right, welcome back and thanks for tuning in to another video. So, check it out. Take a look at the lawn.
What do you guys think?
How did everything turn out? I know you guys haven't seen the lawn. It's been about a month. Today is May 23rd. I am going to be getting down my favorite fertilizer today. If you've been here a while, you know what fertilizer I'm talking about. I've been using it for about three seasons now. Now, only fertilizer this backyard had was a little bit of the Scotts Built for Seed when I actually did a little bit overseeding in early spring here. So, only thing I've been doing back here was mowing and as you can see, I put the double stripes back in the lawn. I love my double stripes. Make the lawn looks good. So, now I'm going to get down my favorite fertilizer. But, before we go over that and why I like the fertilizer, let's take a look at the hat.
So, I know my Knicks fans are out there.
What are we going to do? We're going to the finals this year for sure. Not like last year, we fumbled. We fumbled the bag last year. This year, we're going to the finals and I smell a finals championship. I don't care about Wemby.
I don't care about Shea.
Big Brunson, baby. We going to get it.
We're going to get this finals MVP for Big Brunson. We're going to bring back the championship to New York. So, New York stand up. Let me know in the comment section. And New haters, stay away from my comment section. I can't let y'all ruin my mood right now. But, let's go over this fertilizer. Let's check out this backyard and we get you guys on the way. So, stay tuned. Today, I will be applying the fertilizer like I said. It is lightly raining. You can apply fertilizer in the rain. And now, if it's a downpour, yeah, don't go out there. But, a light little drizzle is completely fine because you're going to get your fertilizer down and it's going to get watered in very, very nice. Now, it's supposed to rain over the next couple days, so Mother Nature's definitely going to help me water in this fertilizer. So, that's why I'm doing it now. Now, check it out. If you've been here the past three seasons, you know I like the Stay Green Performance Max. This is my favorite fertilizer here. It's a Lowe's exclusive. Stay Green Performance Max Multi-Action Lawn Fertilizer.
Has 11 essential nutrients that support a strong and vibrant lawn, and it's a 30-0-3.
30% nitrogen, zero phosphorus, 3% potash, aka potassium. This is a good fertilizer. And it says it lasts in the soil about 6 months, but that's give or take. That depends on how much irrigation or rain you get. Sometimes it washes out a little bit quicker. This is one of my favorite fertilizers because it has sea kelp and humic acid in the bag here, also mixed in with the granules. So, let's take a look at the back of the bag here. We're not going to be out here too, too long, but these are all the nutrients that it has in the bag here.
So, you can go ahead and pause the video if you want to read some.
But, I'm going to be applying today at the performance max rate, and that is about 3.6 lb. So, today I am going to be using about 7 and 1/2 to 8 lb of this product. That's at the max rate. Now, you could use it at the regular rate, and that's 3 lb per 1,000 sq ft, but I'm going to be using 3.6 lb per 1,000 sq ft to get a nice dose down. Now, like I said, this is a Lowe's exclusive, so you're not going to find this at Home Depot.
You're not going to find at Walmart or any other place. You might find a few bags on Amazon. I don't know how, but sometimes Amazon does pop up with a few bags here. But, this is a Lowe's exclusive. Now, as far as the liquids, I don't know what happened to the liquids.
I know I showed you in the past me using the Stay Green liquids. I don't know. I don't see them on the shelves anymore. I think they're kind of taking them away.
Hopefully, they repackage them and bring them back, but the granules are fine.
They have the performance max, they have the weed and feed, they have the also the What is it? The pre-emergent one.
So, they do have the granules, and they have the natural fertilizer. I do use that one in the off season.
Sometimes in the summer when I want a nice little light dose of fertilizer, but today I need a big dose of fertilizer. So, I'm going to be using the StayGreen Performance Max. Like I said, 30% nitrogen. So, that's going to perform very, very well here. This is also a soil conditioner because it has that humic acid and that sea kelp inside the bag. So, it's going to help richen up your soil.
But, that 30% is going to push some growth very, very fast. Give it a nice little green pop also cuz it has some iron in the bag here. And the potassium, aka potash, is going to give your lawn a nice little strengthening boost to resist against diseases, natural diseases, and the actual overall hardness of the plant. So, that's going to be pretty good. Nice little dose of fertilizer here. And like I said, it gets watered in very, very nice. A lot of these products are water activated.
So, you're going to need to water them in for them to work. Now, I know some of you guys also been using in the past and say that you've been having problems with clumping.
I don't understand cuz I buy my bags and I only thing I could say is you're probably buying bags that are already wet. So, it then the product does clump up if it's already wet. But, I never had an issue buying a bag of this and having it clump up or already clumped up in the bag when I'm trying to use it. So, I don't know. Maybe look for the clean bags. Hopefully, that helps you. I never buy the bags that's on the top of the pile. I always try to go in the back of the um the box sometimes where they hold them at in loads cuz sometimes they hold these products on the outside. And you know, it's raining and all of that.
And sometimes if these bags have little holes in them, if they have holes in the bags, do not buy those bags because now if it rain, the rain gets in there and it's going to start clumping up the product. So, maybe that's why the product is clumped up when you buy them.
But, I try to find clean, fresh bags.
So, I'll go underneath the pile or like I said, don't I'll pick up the bag, you know, kind of analyze it. If it has little pin marks or holes in them, I don't buy those bags. I leave them right where they at. But, I never had an issue with clumping. So, this product is supposed to stay in your soil for about 6 months. That's give or take with the rain or irrigation, sometimes it'll wash out a lot faster. But, this product does work. If you look at my previous videos, um I kind of stand by the Stay Green product. I like I said, it has humic acid and has sea kelp inside the bag, and that's something that you're not going to find in most fertilizers in the big box store shelves. You're going to have to spend top top dollar to get that kind of performance. So, let's go ahead and get this bag weighed up.
Like I said, I need about 7 lb, 7 and 1/2 lb today. So, I got my Home Depot bucket. I know it's kind of a oxymoron, Lowe's product, Home Depot bucket, but you know, sometimes you got to make it work.
Now, got my luggage scale here. This is going to help me weigh out the product so I get the proper amount down.
Sometimes the product does not work if you under apply the product, and sometimes it's definitely not going to work if you over apply the product because now you run the risk of burning your lawn out, over applying the fertilizer.
Got to remember, these are synthetic fertilizers. They're not organic. So, the organic fertilizer, you could kind of over apply and get a good results anyway, and it won't burn the lawn. But, these synthetic fertilizers are high in the salt kind of content. So, if you over apply it and it clumps up in one area and it starts to water in, you're going to get a burn out, guaranteed. So, you want to make sure you're evenly spreading down your product. So, today, this is a bag I've already been using.
I'm just going to go ahead and pour a little bit, well, probably this whole bag. I'm going to go ahead and use it cuz there's probably only a the proper amount left here, so.
>> And I probably actually need some more.
All right, let's see how much is in this bag here.
Well, just about what I would kind of need here.
Not too bad.
There's about 7 and 1/2 lb here.
If you can see it.
So, that's not bad. So, that'll work.
So, now going to go ahead and get this product down. Now, when you're applying products in the rain, let's go over to my hopper.
All right, so when you're applying products in the rain here, make sure you have a little hopper spreader cover here. This is going to help keep your product nice and dry while you're applying it. Now, like I said, if it's a deep downpour, big downpour, do not apply products in those uh kind of conditions, but in this little condition here, it's fine.
Going to pour your product in.
Now, I always tell you do not apply your product over your grass because sometimes it could tip over and now you get a little issue with um you know, your product falling down into the grass and actually becoming uh like I said, lawn burn.
But, going to make sure put your hopper cover back over it, like I said, because you don't want your product getting wet.
While you're trying to spread it down and start clumping up. And now, you're all set to go ahead and spread it in the rain here. So, now it says to actually put the spreader on 4 and 1/2 for this actual product. So, now I got it on 4 and 1/2.
And now we're ready to spread.
So, now you can start and just walk at a nice even pace.
And now this is at the max rate. Now, I like to start on the perimeter when I spread my products and then you work your way into the inside.
Very, very simple.
This is a part actually burned out with some of that weed and grass killer because uh that's a little dead uh tree stump. If you guys been here a while, you know that tree stump. It was a tree back here. So, it's gone and there was a tree roots that was growing underneath the fence and it gets all kind of puller and weeds that grow out of it. So, poured a little bit of the weed and grass killer on it.
And it burned out. So, now you just going to make your perimeter pass just like this.
Simple. Now, for those of you that is and this is the side yard right here. If you guys remember early spring, I said I was going to seed it. Growing in very, very nice. Got my water hose connection, keep it nice and moist and continue to let it grow in. So, let's go ahead and finish spreading this product.
Now, when spreading the product down you want to make sure you overlap just a little bit. So, now you see I got lined up against the fence that first pass.
So, now the second pass I'm going to go just a little bit less right here. I'm going to go down this strip and it's going to overlap just a little bit, but not a lot. Cuz like I said, don't over apply your product. Because now you're going to run the risk of burning it cuz it's too much piled up in one area.
Make your turn.
And then you come back down.
And you come back.
Now the faster you walk, the faster the product will spread.
But don't try to run. Just come at an even pace.
All right. So I hope you guys enjoyed today's video. If it helped you in any way, please like the video, subscribe to the channel. Like I said, if you're applying these products and you're looking for the Stay Green product, please stay away from bags that already wet or have holes in them. Do not buy those bags. Maybe that's the reason why you're dealing with clumping. I've never had an issue with clumping. Like I said, and if you're also applying in the rain like me, a little light drizzle, make sure you got a little hopper cover. Make sure the product does not get wet because it will clump up and then it will create problems for you. So, that's the only thing I can say. Maybe that's the reason why you're running into trouble. Now, if you like the video and it's helped you in any way, but you can use any fertilizer you want. If you got your hands on some old fertilizers that you already been using, you do not necessarily have to buy this product.
I'm just showing you why I like this product. But I cleared out my stash already of other fertilizers before I actually switched over. Do not waste your money. So, if you got a fertilizer that you have been using, use that fertilizer up. Don't waste your money.
And then if you want to switch over, then you can do that. But, hope you guys enjoyed today's video. Please like the video, subscribe to the channel, and hold on. Game 3 is tonight for the Knicks.
