In the context of the Joy St. Omar murder case in St. Lucia, the video argues that systemic failures in the justice system should be attributed to the people who man and manipulate the system rather than abstract entities. Forensic scientist Mr. Louisie Murray emphasized that systems are inanimate objects without life, and when they fail, the people responsible for operating them must be held accountable. The video further explains that a proper commission of inquiry should be a fact-finding exercise, not a fault-finding exercise, to identify systemic flaws and recommend improvements. This principle applies broadly: when institutions fail, the focus should be on the individuals within those institutions who have the power to change outcomes, rather than deferring to impersonal 'systems' as excuses for inaction.

for me. There's a simple rule in politics.
Never ever be surprised by what happens in politics.
>> The face of truth is open. The eyes of truth are bright. The lips of truth are ever closed. The head of truth is upright. The breast of truth stands forward. The gaze of truth is straight.
Truth has neither fear nor doubt. Truth has patience to wait. The words of truth are touching. The voice of truth is deep. The law of truth is simple. All you sow you reap. The soul of truth is flaming. The heart of truth is warm. The mind of truth is clear and firm through rain and storm. Facts are only its shadow. Truth stands above all sin.
Great be the battle of life. Truth in the end shall win. The image of truth is the cross. Wisdom's message is its rod.
The sign of truth is Christ. And the soul of truth is God. Life of truth is eternal. Immortal is its past. Power of truth shall endure. Truth shall hold to the last. I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression.
Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job.
The dollar buys a nickels worth. Banks are going bust. Shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street. There's nobody anywhere seems to know what to do. And there's no end to it.
We know the air is unfit to breathe. Our food is unfit to eat. Sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had 15 homicides and 63 violent crimes. As if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad. Worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy. So, we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller. And all we say is, "Please at least leave us alone in our living room. Then we have my toaster and my TV and my steel melted radios and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone." Well, I'm not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad.
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to ride. I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write.
I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation of the Russians and the crying of the street.
All I know is that first you've GOT TO GET MAD. YOU'VE GOT TO SAY, "I'M A HUMAN BEING. GOD DAMN IT. MY LIFE HAS VALUE.
No matter how you turn it, no spin the truth. Been getting people fooling with the sh and back. Sir, come contact now.
Come back. Stop waiting to hear who gets in touch. Hot hot hot like pepper and pot. Everybody feel they know what it was. But when the host ask the real quick question, you hear silence then pure confusion. When real you get the real thing. Where truth from inside does rise within the most show on radio.
We're fearless. We're tough. We're ready to go.
Up spin, down spin, front spin, back spin. Anyhow you twist it, you've been dealing true spin. Up spin, down spin, front spin, back spin. No matter how you turn it, you're spinning the truth. Up spin, front spin, back spin, back spin.
How you twist it. No matter how you turn it, you're spinning the truth.
One man said this next man said that packaging like ultra hot head pretty but the story thin so we break it down and expose the thin no to defend if you're wrong today we call it an end from parliament straight down to the bridge don't go hide when the mic turns on big up spin down spin front spin back spin anyhow you twist it true spin up spin down spin spinning back. No matter how you turn it, no spinning through how you twist it. No matter how you spike does bring everything to No sugar coating of any disguise. We cut things through all them politics and lies. So whether you're red or yellow or blue if you touch don't match. We're coming for you because the people deserve the truth. Not whack and hypocrisy. Up spin down spin up spin back spin. Anyhow you twist it. And truth spin down spin spin back spin. No matter how you open any we don't matter how you turn it. It's the truth in the world.

She's feeling a lot better today.
She's already going through your comments in the chat rooms and she'll be producing and providing us with some updates and I'll be taking your calls at 4522979452979 WhatsApp calls and messages 7162026 7162026 and due to time constraint yesterday there are number of uh subjects we wanted to highlight yesterday that we could not because of uh certain contributions and their length um that we had to accommodate during the program on uh Thursday. So today we'll try to see how best we can utilize a lot of the content we had on schedule for yesterday.
Well, we continue to focus on the Joy St. or murder and the the fact that we hearing off time after time that the system failed her and somebody addressed that issue this week forensic scientist Mr. Louisie Morray when he said that the system is an inanimate object does not have life.
It is just there and the system has to be manned by human beings. So if the system is not functioning as it ought to, you blame the people who should be manning the system, who should be ensuring that it functions properly. So stop saying the system, the system, the system. Let's listen to Mr. Louisie Marray again, you know, expressing um frustration after hearing decades after decades that the system has failed someone. Let's hear from him.
>> I'm just so pissed at when people talk about the system.
Tim, a system is an inanimate entity, you know.
>> Yes, it is.
So when I don't know why there's the shift from the system to the people who are involved in this, it's not the system. We heard a police officer I think two days ago say that um flouting the the the protection order. There is a a penalty for that.
>> But that that seemed to have you know just been forgotten or disappeared. So the most times I think I mean I'm not saying that every system is perfect and you can't do a little tweet but that can't blast thing you hear people saying oh the system the system the to me that's nonsense. It is the people who make up the system. So don't blame the system blame the people. You get people lack of integrity. People are accepting money um or reward to and and I and I say our systems are not I will say that our systems are not being manned.
They are being manipulated.
>> The system is not being manned.
It is being manipulated. You just heard there from forensic scientist Mr. Louie Murray and you also heard this week Mrs. Sarah Fab Bora saying that there's need for a commission of inquiry not a faultf finding exercise not a fault finding but a factf finding exercise so that we would learn along the way what transpired and how we once again did not do what we had to do which resulted in somebody losing their lives senselessly on losing their life senselessly.
So in case you missed it, let us hear from Mrs. Sarah Flood Boran. Where are we going with this? In the end, I'll be reading to you a contribution, a piece that was sent to me by somebody who has the nom dear, the equalizer.
And the title of the contribution by that individual is when the crown said nothing. Let's listen to Mrs. Sir Flood Bo.
>> I am calling for a full independent commission of inquiry which will be factf finding not faultf finding.
It will be looking to see at every stage of this process what happened and to make recommendations as to what should have happened and we'll also identify where the flaws where the loopholes are in the system and make recommendations to improve the system. Timothy, if this incident happened, say in Canada or in England, I've lived in England for for many years in my life, there would be a full commission of inquiry that would make recommendations on every aspect, on every agency, on every intervention that was made or wasn't made. So that at every level where the system is broken, you would identify what the brokenness is and you would make recommendations. Now I'm not talking about a commission of inquiry that's not thorough, that's not objective. And I'm not talking about recommendations that will sit on a shelf. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about an independent commission if we have to bring in experts from overseas to do this and we can get I'm sure there can be funding for this so that when this commission of inquiry produces this report it will investigate and and determine at every level every agency every official every person who had contact with Droid every report she made, it will go through it with a fine tooth comb and be able to tell us this is what happened, this is what should have happened, this is what must happen. I think if we do that, we can we of course cannot bring joy back. We cannot bring back anyone who's gone through the system and have been let down before and there have been others before. But that is the best way we can ensure that it doesn't happen again.
>> Just heard there from Mrs. Sarah Flood Borbra, a contribution she made earlier this week on New Spin and we'll play our part because again we're into advocacy journalism.
We are tired of making reference to the system.
We're tired of making reference to the authorities.
We're tired of making reference to the government. We're tired of saying that people have been elected to perform a particular duty, a particular task.
We're tired of referencing people who have failed the citizens of this country who were appointed as well to ensure that there is law and order in this country and the lives of the people of this country and not put in jeopardy not jeopardized. You improve the lives of the people and not worsen it.
So let's listen to a report filed last evening by DBS's Miriam Montut and she's referencing a press conference hosted by the hierarchy of the Royal St. Lucia police force on Thursday and during that exercise the police released a detailed um timeline of the events leading up to the death of this 24year-old Joy St. Assistant Commissioner of Police Luke Def Frightus provided a detailed timeline of events leading up to the murder of 24year-old Joy St. Frighter says that the situation was first brought before the ancillary police station on Thursday 19th February 2026 when St. made a report of assault. The freighter states that St. M was interviewed and referred to the family court for further intervention. St. returned that same day about 5:10 p.m.
with an interim protection order for 3 days along with a summons for her aranged husband, 34year-old Primus Tuset, to appear before the family court on Tuesday, 24th February, 2026.
Defa says that the ancillary police immediately went with St. Ma to the resident she shared with Tuser, served him the court documents, and assisted her in leaving the premises to go to her mother's residence. On February 24th, 2026, Miss Sentoma along with Mr. Tuser did appear at the family court and at that seating the interim protection order or the protection order rather was extended for 6 months.
On Saturday, March 8th, about 6:15 p.m., Miss Joyce sent again reports to the Anceler Police Station that she was assaulted at her mother's residence by Primus 2.
>> Defa says the following day, Monday 9th March, St. Omar was comprehensively interviewed by the ancillary police. A statement was also recorded in which she recounted the Sunday, March 8th assault, among other incidents. On Wednesday, March 11, after several attempts were made on the days previous to arrest Mr. Primus Tus, an operation was launched which extended between Canry's and Margo in an effort to locate Mr. Tusi.
Mr. Tuser was eventually arrested at his residence about 9:00 a.m. that March 11th.
On Friday, the 13th day of March, Mr. Tuser was formally charged with two counts of breaching the protection order, one count of ham, one count of assault, one count of threats. Tuser was then taken to court the following Monday, March 16th, and was remanded to the Bodlay Correctional Facility, after the police objected to his bail, which was denied by the first district court.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 21st, Defright says police investigators received information from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution that Tuser had applied for bail before the high court. Tusi was subsequently granted bail. The circumstances leading to the bill I am still looking into and will report on these at a subsequent date.
On May 7th, 2026, Miss Joyce Santoma tenders a missisive to the ancillary police station, which in short indicated her unwillingness to continue or pursue the matters. Of course, the homicide occurred on May 20th and um as you know, Mr. Primus Tus has been charged with the murder of Joyce and Duma. The freigherss did not delve into details of what occurred the day of St. Omar's murder as emerging information forms part of investigations being undertaken by the major crimes unit. The freighters did however say that he obtained a copy of the recognition to appear signed by Tuser at the high court. Defa says on that recognition, the sitting judge reviewed the conditions under which bail was denied. Upon submissions by both the prosecution and the defense council, the decision was made to grant bail to Tusair.
>> The bail conditions included but not limited to the fact that he was not supposed to go within 100 meters of Miss Joyce Santoma. Uh he seemed to have agreed to move to Canri where he also shared a residence with other relatives.
Um, of course, his travel documents were to be surrendered to the state. He ought not to have applied for other travel documents or attempt to leave the state without informing proper authorities.
>> On Saturday, May 23rd, Primus Tuser was formally charged with the offense of murder. The following Monday, he was taken before the magistrate's court in Castries, where he was remanded in custody until June 30th, 2026.
The freighter says that he hopes the timeline lays to rest some of the concerns and questions that the general public have expressed over the incident.
For the DBS News World, Miriam Montou reporting.
>> And that report was filed an ed last evening during the DBS News World.
According to um officer Luke Defrightus subsequently in a subsequent broadcast he will be providing details as to the circumstances which resulted in Mr. to say receiving bail. Bail was granted by a high court judge told his one justice Rohan Phillip.
And so the system continues to fail the women of this country and in other circumstances fail the children and also fail the male population.
So we are all being failed by the system.
Allow me to go through a piece that was sent to me by somebody who has not identified themselves and this using the nom de gear the equalizer and I received this article sometime yesterday and the headline is when the crown said nothing. So it reads, "There are moments when public anger is justified.
The killing of Joyce St. Omar is one of them. A young woman is dead.
A child is left motherless.
A family is left to grieve in a country already exhausted by violence against women. But anger, however righteous, becomes dangerous when it fires in the wrong direction.
In the public square, much of the rage has turned on the defense attorney who previously acted for the accused in a bail application.
That may be emotionally understandable.
It is not legally sound.
A bail herring is not a one-man performance. It is a three-part constitutional exercise. The defense applies, the prosecution responds, and the judge decides.
Each arm has a duty. Each arm has a role. And when the system fails, the public must be careful not to blame the only person who actually performed the function assigned to them.
Here is a troubling sequence as researched by this individual.
The accused was first denied bail in the magistrate's court. That means the prosecution at that stage had placed sufficient material before the lower court to persuade it that bail should not be granted. The information existed.
The risk factors, whatever they were, were apparently known. The reasons for resisting bail had already been ventilated.
Then the matter moved to the high court.
There crown council representing not merely the prosecution but the public interest sought an adjournment.
The stated purpose was to get the facts, review the material and prepare any objection to bail. That was the critical window. Between April 17th and April 22nd, the crown had ample time to consult a colleague who had successfully opposed the bail in the magistrate's court. They operated from the same office inside the blue coral building in Castries. The information was not across the ocean. It was across the corridor.
That adjournment was the procedural bridge between the lower court's refusal and the high court's discretion. It was the moment when the reasons for continued detention should have traveled from one courtroom to the next.
But when the matter returned, the crown reportedly offered no objection, no substantive resistance, no stated risk to the complainant, no apparent reliance on the earlier refusal in the lower court, no warning strong enough to persuade the court that liberty should remain restricted pending trial. In those circumstances, what exactly was the judge being asked to do?
Courts do not operate on rumor. Judges do not deny bail because Facebook is angry. The court acts on evidence, submissions, sworn material, anticidence, risk assessments, and legal grounds.
Likelihood of outscounting, interference with witnesses, risk of reoffending, public safety, obstruction of justice.
If those matters are not properly placed before the court by the prosecution, the court is left with an application for bail and no meaningful opposition.
That is not the defense attorney's failure. That is the prosecution's burden.
A defense lawyer's duty is to advance the lawful interests of a client within the boundaries of the law. That is not endorsement.
It is not moral approval.
It is not a declaration of innocence. It is the architecture of justice.
The prosecution's duty is equally clear.
To protect the public interest by placing all relevant material before the court, particularly where violence, threats, domestic risk, or prior complaints may be involved.
If the crown had information and failed to present it, that is a grave institutional question.
If the crown did not have the information, then the question becomes why.
If the information existed in one court but did not travel effectively to another, then the country must confront a deeper administrative failure.
The public may rage. It has reason to.
But rage without precision is a blunt instrument.
The issue is not whether an accused man had a lawyer. The issue is whether the state with all its machinery properly argued why he should not have had bail.
That is where the spotlight belongs.
That peace penned by the equalizer.
And now let's hear from Laura Shapierre Noel speaking yesterday during a press conference again on the murder of Joy St. Omar. Quite an emotional >> we are gathered here because Joy St. Omar lost her life. She was murdered.
But let us be honest with ourselves.
This tragedy is not an isolated incident.
It is another painful reminder that too many women in St. Lucia are suffering in silence.
Behind closed doors, many women are suffering with fear, intimidation, threats, emotional trauma, humiliation, and uncertainty.
Some remain silent because they are afraid.
Some because they feel ashamed.
Some because they are financially dependent.
And some because they are not sure whether help will truly come.
And sometimes even when women speak up, tragedy still follows.
Mary Rackliffe.
She spoke up and she's dead.
Valinda Joseph. And this one is close to me because she came from a neighboring community and I was a youngster at the time and I marched for Valinda.
She spoke up and she's dead.
Joy sent, not much older than my own niece.
She spoke up and she's dead.
The reality should trouble each and every single one of us.
Because abuse rarely begins with the headlines.
It often begins quietly with control, with manipulation, with isolation, with emotional wounds that deepen over time, while the outside world sees nothing.
And too often, communities recognize the warning signs only after tragedy strikes.
Families see distress.
Friends notice withdrawals.
Neighbors hear conflict.
Communities sense that something is wrong.
But sometimes we dismiss it.
Sometimes we stay silent.
And sometimes we convince ourselves it's none of my business and then another life is lost.
I remember once hosting a talk show, a very popular talk show on a Wednesday night as an interim host and I was discussing rape and a caller questioned why I cared so deeply about the victims.
Imagine living in a society Where com compassion itself is treated as suspicious.
Where empathy is questioned instead of encouraged.
That emotional coldness is dangerous because indifference creates the kind of environment where abuse grows unchecked and vulnerable people feel abandoned.
St. Lucia must become a country where people feel heard, valued, protected, and supported.
A country where women feel safe seeking help. A country where victims are believed.
A country where support systems respond before situations escalate into tragedy.
And we must be honest enough as a country to admit sometimes we ask women to speak up while failing to build environments where they feel safe enough to do so.
That must change.
Protecting women cannot only be important after tragedy strikes.
Protection must begin earlier before the bruises deepen. Before threats escalate, before another child loses a mother, before another family plans a funeral.
Beyond policy, we need compassion because domestic violence is not just a legal issue. It is an emotional issue.
It is a social issue. It is a cultural issue, a public health issue.
And solving it requires all of us, government, opposition, churches, schools, community leaders, men, women, families choosing to care enough to intervene before it is too late.
Too often when violence happens, society interrogates the victim instead of condemning the perpetrator.
Why did she stay? Why did she choose him? Why didn't she leave earlier as though her love for him was the crime?
That mindset is dangerous as well because every time we shame victims instead of confronting abusive behavior, we normalize dysfunction and excuse cruelty.
I heard somewhere it being said that the alleged perpetrator had experienced a painful trauma.
Pain is never an excuse for violence.
And until we confront the attitudes that normalize control, intimidation, and abuse, we will continue to gather at vigils, mourning lives that should have been protected.
That is why today's conversation cannot and should not end with grief.
It must lead to reflection. It must lead to compassion.
It must lead to intervention.
And it must lead to responsibility.
Ladies and gentlemen of the media, fellow St. Lucians, me, my colleagues, we gather not as politicians first. And that is a term, a heading, a title I am beginning to despise.
But as human beings, as mothers and fathers, as daughters and sons, as neighbors, as a nation in mourning. Because when women live in fear, families cannot flourish. And when families are broken by violence, communities suffer. And when communities suffer, the nation bleeds.
This is not women versus men. This is all of us versus violence.
And to the women of St. and Lucia who may be listening to me today.
You matter. Your voice matters. Your safety matters.
Today, let this moment become more than mourning. Let it become a turning point.
Let us build a St. Lucia, where women feel safe, where families feel supported, and where communities are empowered to protect the vulnerable before tragedy occurs.
Because protecting women is not simply simply a women's issue. It is a national responsibility.
And if we protect our women, we protect our families. And if we protect our families, we protect our communities.
And if we protect our communities, we protect St. Lucia.
Laura Japier Noel speaking yesterday during a press conference of the opposition United Workers Party. Let's hear from you right now at 4522979-4522979.
your WhatsApp calls and messages. 716 20226 716 2026 Good afternoon to you Shante. Let's find out what's happening in the chat rooms.
>> Good afternoon, Tim. Starting off on YouTube, our first comment reads, "The persons responsible to manage the system must be held accountable for not performing their duties responsibly and professionally."
What bail? He was hiding out in Begsaw.
calling on all St. Omma families and relatives to attend Joyy's funeral in support to stop the violence. Moving to Facebook, our first comment reads, "Who makes up the system?" A political spin on a death. Wow.
Should she have just posted a candle on her Facebook page like the National Security Minister did for the murders in his constituency?
We have another comment saying, "Are you suggesting the judge was unaware of why the defendant was before him? The judge had full discretion to act based on information presented, even if the crown was being uncooperative."
Tim, believe it or not, I went looking around cash for the system yesterday and I could not find it. I'm supposed to go to View for tomorrow and I'll be looking for it on my way there. Who did we vote for to manage the system?
A few comments here reading, he's so right, though. The system is working as it should. Everything is in place. It's the persons behind it that's the true problem.
St. Lucia is just too small where everybody knows everybody. In a small island state like ours, our systems are easily corrupted. Any case that ends in death. ACP Luke Defratus. Tyson's death.
Luke Defritus. The bombing of the vessel of St. Vincent. Luke Defritus. Joy St. Luke Defrus. Where is the commissioner of police guard? We have another comment here saying blood is on the hands of Primus's lawyer and that high court judge. I hope their conscience don't allow them peace. The judge gives judgment on what is before him or her.
Where was the DPP? What did the prosecutor present?
By now, we should have known who this judge is. A few more comments from our Facebook page reading, "We need to pay attention to those who remain silent on this issue, but are vocal about other issues. Your silence is loud."
>> And of course, and of course, that will include my good friend, the agriculture minister, Lisa Jia. Continue.
>> How big is St. Lucia that you couldn't find the criminal, but she asked that you keep him away from her. Another comment here is saying, "Imagine the criminals are smarter than the police.
Maybe the criminals should get hired as policemen. Officer knows everything except why the criminal was granted bail. He knows. He knows.
St. Lucia is no longer a good police."
Another comment here saying, "Was the magistrate who granted him bail aware of that timeline?
How many officers were dispatched to arrest him?
What was the point of giving us this said timeline?"
We have more comments here reading.
>> Before I continue, somebody comments on the timeline and says that there are gaps in the timeline, not a full timeline. also does not address all the reasons why Joy expressed dissatisfaction and disappointment with the handling of the matter in her letter, which is why she terminated the case. Read the assault. That's their version. Joy is not here to give her response to this. That's where we step in. And they still need to tell us what happened on the day of her murder.
Continue.
>> So, how he got to her mother's house to assault her. He was there reading something knowing that she was not protected at all. So now we have to find out the relationship between the prosecutor and the lawyer for the defendant. Another news spinner here said, "Laura made me cry yesterday during this part of her contribution.
Somewhere somehow somebody messed up.
Now nobody wants to take the blame. No one wants to say that we let her down because they don't give a spade about people." And our final comment very informative and appropriate write up.
>> Thank you so much Jante. Countryman says big up Tim it's Countryman deferred is a talking head explained for everything is whitewashed with useless words and we need action. That's a WhatsApp message coming from countryman. Uh let's see there somebody says there Tim do you realize St. Lucia has turned to Hollywood and another WhatsApp message and it says there Tim just asking who is Mr. Two says attorney how did he get the gun?
Was it a licensed firearm? A call via WhatsApp. Good afternoon to you. You are on the air sir.
>> Good afternoon.
Um um good afternoon to your um co-host as well um reporter.
>> Good afternoon.
>> How are you guys doing?
>> We are okay.
>> Um first of all, I'd like to express my deepest um condolences to the uh family and friends of the young lady who tragically lost her life. Joyce week >> Joyce Joyce Santoma is her name.
>> Yes.
And especially my my heart goes out to her her daughter Tim.
>> I'm a I'm a I'm a grown ass man and I I don't know how I'm going to live without my mother being alive. Every day I pray to God that I die before my mother cuz I I I I don't have the heart to go to go see them put my mother in a box and then put her in the ground, you know. So that little girl I feel so terrible for him. Anyways, um there used to be a time in history, Tim, where a tragedy or something of of that magnitude like um would bring people together, Tim, and have some cause some changes in society in the way that people think and bring about like um policy change also, right?
Um, for example, look at the um 1911 fires in New York City in the garment factory that brought about the um trade union revolution in in in North America.
But for some reason in our country, this doesn't seem to be happening. Like no matter what happens to us, there is no revolution. No one seems to be saying, "Okay, you know what? This is has to change. We have to have some policy changes." the thinking of the people may have to change. Not too long ago in my hometown of EOT um it is um um alleged that someone stood over a little baby boy and shot him.
You understand?
So we we now is not we we've had ample ample opportunities and I call it opportunity in a sad way you know but we've had ample like incidents where you know it for us to come together and be like okay this is this is appalling but now today I called it in to call on the the um women of St. Lucia and those who are supporting them.
This is affecting you and your children more than anyone else. It's time that the women of St. Lucia take the bull by the horns. Not to milk it, but to control it and say, you know, we >> But you can't milk a bull and don't forget that.
>> Well, tell that to Sicily. Tell that to >> So, it's time we we take the bull by the horns and I'm talking to the women of St. and say, "Hey, we we are not going to allow this to happen to another girl under our watch again or another lady or another grandmother." Like I this is appalling. This is appalling thing and we don't see anything coming from those in charge and I always bring it. Why do you think that people in charge are not doing better? Timmy goes from the macro to the micro. Our politicians come from the general population >> and I find them and I find them I find those people too defensive.
Not me is the system is this is that.
They take no responsibility for nothing.
And when they want the job when they want the job when they want to be elected they're both they say they are the most readied the most qualified set of individuals. they are better than the other other persons who are vying for high office because the other people um they're incompetent because the other people they don't have a track record because the other people they are corrupt and yet still when they get into office and things go arai they don't take responsibility for it they don't say I could do better and and I'll be turning my attention a little bit later to my good friend the prime minister of St. Nusha who is observing or celebrating 29 years as the MP for Castri East but continue sir.
Yeah, Tim, these people don't ch according to the lady on famous meme which government what what what they doing look how they killing the citizens of the country and no one Tim as I argued before to you crime is normal funks but violent crime like I I I don't know Tim it's like every time every time I call new spin it's like the myriad of problems we have is just too long you cannot that address anything. You know, we already forgot about Tyson, right?
>> Yeah.
>> You know, we already forgot about M Blae, right?
>> Mhm.
>> And that poor little boy and the grandmother who died in viewfort and the other innocent people who seem to have lost their lives in St. Lucia. We have forgotten about them from Shaka killed his wife till now. We have not done anything. And the other day I was listening to your show. Normally, this is not something I do. You know, I don't call in to criticize people as to what they say. And a lady was saying about, oh, the the women's shelter, whatever.
So, okay, how how is the police going to what they going to put a police officer with every single woman that needs help?
No, you need a central place where people can go to be to get protection.
So, >> yeah, but up to now up to now also talking about the women's support um center, we have not heard from any of the officials on this, huh? We have not heard from the gender relations minister with to give us an update because it it is it is so shameful that a center that was set up you know to to to house people in particular um who are running away from abusive relationships it is closed for now close to 3 years and your department of human services and gender relations and the relevant minister or ministry none of those officials have come to the fort to explain why it has been in this state for close to 3 years.
>> Yeah.
>> Nothing but but Tim let them open up a small little playing ground or a little playing field. 2026 man still boasting about oh my rep putting light on a field for me as a I voom man. I vom 2026 that's what we we we we have to to brag about and I'm going to speak about my rep of you enough about how we going to open up um campsite in Vijay. You're going to open up campsite in VJ and then we cannot protect the women of our country. Why do you think our population is already declining? Our young men are dying. Our young women are dying at a equal rate.
Our children too are also dying. elderly folks are dying by gunshots and gun violence and no one is making any kind of policy statement or announcement. And I don't see man going to parliament and saying okay all right you know today we're going to sign this piece of legislation or we're going to try to have a you understand what I mean to show like you actually everybody is just nonchalant um except the opposition which I understand that they're in opposition and everybody's I'm not calling as a flambo right now I ain't no flambo I calling as a motion everybody went in opposition claiming oh I'm going to do this and I'm going to do that and and me and I understand that but God said at least you can say that I know it's buffoonery but at least make an effort man I make an effort it's not when you build a box for us in castries and call it whatever building and look and then say oh yeah development man development is more than just erecting structures okay development also includes human development I don't know if our governments have ever heard of infant mortality rates, murder rates and so on and so forth. We have to keep it at minimal for the rest of the world to look at us as civilized human beings. As I said, we cannot eradicate crime and criminal activity because crime is is is not black and white. It's multi it's multifaceted. So it's a but but violent crime, man.
>> But you can control it. But you can control it.
>> You >> you can Tim in the case of St. Lucia Tim. It is so easy. It is so easy Tim.
We are only 238 square miles. How difficult it is for us to secure our borders. Tim >> so if we were the size of Ghana, if we were the size of Ghana, you know those politicians that'll be an opportunity to make to come up with an excuse. You know, look at the vast size of this country. You know, it's this country size of you know. Yeah. How do you police that country? It is small, >> small population and we have a few criminals and we can't address the issues. But I don't know we get that kind of acumen and the energy to fight political parties to fight each other as politicians and to win general elections handsomely. The other point is you hear those politicians and we hear from them the time the prime minister making that statement in the aftermath of the last general election that is so costly to come up with different programs and different initiatives to address those ills in our society. But you wonder where is the money coming from for them to fight those elections and some claim that the elections are being bought. Dan claimed that the election was not bought, but we know the reality on the ground that we have supporters with their with their pouches with their bags of money buying elections on election day. Now, I'm not saying whether it's EWS, SLP, >> but it's a fact and we know it happens.
>> Tim, again, we're moving from the macro to the micro. Why do you think the politicians are behaving in that manner?
Because the general population to let me piggy back on what Laura Jee just said again. St. Lucian I have said it on the show before St. Lucian's team when a situation arises they are on the side of the aggressor and the perpetrator. The person who is being more aggressive and committing the transgression gets the support of the majority team.
If two man fighting in a community, a man chop a man and a man that gets chopped goes to the police, the community going to say a little chuck the man give you, you call police for him.
That's how St. Lucian think they think being victimized is some kind of like the Stockholm syndrome. I I don't know Tim they think being the victim is some kind of glory like no some kind of being the transgressor is is some kind of glory. Being the bad guy is what you glorify and then you vilify the person who's trying to be a decent human being. Not that that person does not have the natural propensity to do violence also you know but that person just chooses to control his or her impulses and we take it for granted that that person has the capacity to also do violence but they just simply choose to live in accordance with their fellow primates. And that is how human beings historically have made progress.
Anyways, Tim, I'm going to give someone else a chance. You and Shante have a lovely day. I'd like to big up Senior Rigo, but anyway, sit down, stand up in the world. And I'd like to wish my dad Wilson Taylor a happy birthday.

Let's hear now from Mr. Philip J. Pierre 29 years as the MP for Castries East.
the first one that see during the May 23rd 1997 general election. We put a photograph of my favorite politician. He is the late Romanus Lancico. So Mr. Philip Jpierre did the unthinkable.
Never in the history of St. Lucia anyone anticipated that Mr. Philip J. Pier would have defeated Mr. Romanus Lancico but he did and Mr. Philip Jier in that 1997 general election defeated Mr. Romanis Lancico by 2,43 votes. 24,043 votes. Philip J. Pierre polling 4,422 votes to Romanus Lancico's 2,377.
And that was a shock to many people in St. Lucia. They could not believe it.
And that is when the St. Lucia Labor Party humiliated the SL the um UDP at the polls winning 16 of the islands 17 seats. And we have the photograph of Mr. Lancico. He was one of the casualties.
Never anticipated uh that Mr. Lanco would have been defeated in that general election. I'm sure that there are number of people who are watching and listening to this broadcast and they're asking themselves, who is this guy? They don't, you know, the first time you may be hearing about Mr. Romanus Lancico, a former minister of tourism, former minister of information and broadcasting.
And in that era without social media, without Facebook, without YouTube, without WhatsApp, he knew all about public relations. He knew that open a standpipe and a sword turning ceremony. He would invite all the media representatives, reporters, journalists to come on board and he would make this turn this into a big thing. So Mr. Lanco um knew about PR during that particular era. He was perceived to be a very hardworking government minister yet still he was defeated by um Mr. Philip Jpierre. It was seen as the unthinkable. No one ever anticipated that this would have happened. So fast forward to the general election of 2025 December the 1st and Mr. Mr. Philip JP did it again winning several general elections. He's never lost after winning 1997.
Um the first election he contested was in 1992 and he lost and people were had given up on him. That's my my perception. But he did the unthinkable by winning 1997.
Um in the 2025 general election, Mr. Philip J. Pierre won by 2,866.
He pulled 4,04 and Mr. Peter Chico of the United Party received 1,148.
So Mr. Philip JP has been boasting about, you know, serving the people of Castri East for 29 years and he marked that anniversary on the 23rd of this month.
>> On Saturday, the people of Kash the people of Kash is on to thank them.
29 years I've represented them. 29 years before you were born.
>> Oh, how do you know that?
>> Right. I represented them, right? And I thank them for that. I thank them for that. So that's what keeps me going. Not people raving and ranting. The people that I represent, that's what keeps me going. And anytime I go, I I walk the streets up to this morning, the lady says, "Thank you, Prime Minister."
That's okay. Not raving and ranting and trying to make me look bad for personal reasons. Is what the people the people who elected me.
The people who've increase my majority.
You know what it is to be on the sixth election and your majority increases?
I I mean come on. If you think I can be I can be thankful and try my best to improve the quality of life.
>> Very thankful to the people of Castries East. But we have to ask a question. You don't like it if especially if you are a color fool. But the people of Castries East, what do they have to show for having Mr. Philip J. here being their parliamentary representative continuously from 1997 up until now 29.
Yes, I don't claim to have the answer to that question. I'm just posing the question to the people of Castri East.
So if you're watching the broadcast from Castri East, maybe you can call and answer that question for us. Good afternoon to you Shante. Let's find out what is happening in the chat rooms.
>> Starting off on YouTube, our first comment reads, "Tim, you will not hear anything from that government. Too busy preparing for the next election. The human element in St. Lucia has died a long time ago. My late dad used to tell me that it's not everyone who has the appearance of a human being that is a human being. St. Lucia is in a checkmate state. The election was against Shassnne and nothing else. Now things are falling apart. They can change course but continue to perish. Another YouTube commenter saying Pierre has an opportunity to create history by stepping down as prime minister. A very strong message must be sent to the criminals from the government. St. Lucia knew all of this before the 2025 elections and they still went in and voted the empty-headed SLP.
on Facebook. Our first comment reads, "You want me to get serious and we have a jokey government.
You people who are commenting on Laura's emotions are heartless. The situation is real. Joy is dead because of people who have the same heart as you. How do you know her empathy isn't genuine?" We have another comment here saying, "And that's very insensitive. I am so troubled by you guys blame politics in everything.
Shaking my head.
Crazy thing about these people in authority. They want all the praise when things go right but blame everyone else when things go wrong. Our prime minister went to the courts to protect a range Rover and said that he wanted to see that justice is served. So I do hope that he will do the same in this particular case where all we need is justice to be served.
A few comments here reading, "After 29 years, Marsha still looks like someone helped me there. I would like it would be very embarrassing for me to talk about 29 years in politics. They don't scare Tim. That's why these officials are saying nothing. They just don't care." Caller of the year. We have another comment here saying, "We clearly can see our justice system is a hot mess and whoever is representing us as a national security has no pity on us."
You know, he would have gotten out, so why not them? Where is the place to keep her safe and protected until she maybe decides to leave St. Lucia? Think better. Tim, you hit the nail on the head. We have more comments from our Facebook page saying we need to stop speaking as individuals and speak as collectives, mother's groups, father's groups, sporting groups, communities, businesses, interests, etc. It has taken approximately 30 years for Dubai to transform into metropolis. It has developed into and it took our PM 29 years to make Marshall look like that.
He has a good reason to celebrate. 29 years representing the same constituency and nothing to show for it. We have another comment here saying Elwin St. Rose what is the crime fighting strategy for the law and justice systems in St. Lucia? Joyce and Omar was from your constituency you joined forces of Casper and neither of you used your voices and neither of them have been heard almost a week after this heinous murder.
The civil service reviewed the proposed GPH steel and recommended that the government not sign it, but they went ahead anyway.
Another comment here is saying 29 years of deterioration. And our final comment, no wonder St. Lucia now looks like Marsha.
>> Thank you so much for that update, Jante. Somebody says via WhatsApp, Tim.
I was raised in Marsha. if I had a Polaroid camera from the 90s taking photos to now it is the same. And there some more of your messages. And somebody says, "I remember growing up as a little boy in the 80s. There was this young girl named Trisha Dennis who got murdered and a murderer left a note on her dead body that read for your style."
I don't think it was Trisha Dennis. It was not. It was Gizelle Georgees. And it says, "I will never forget that story. I wonder what happened to this murderer.
Another person says, "Still happening today almost 50 years later." Another one says, "Tim, can we hang at least six men just to send a message to the wannabe criminals because last time I checked, they are property of the states." Right. And some more of your messages. And somebody says there, "Tim, let me tell you straight. The reason so many young people are dying and our schools are out of control comes down to one thing. Unrestricted access to social media. We used to get our values from school and a few bad apples could only do so much damage. Now children see everything with no one watching and they left to sort right from wrong by themselves. Other countries have already put limits on children using social media. St. Lucia needs to do the same. and some more of your messages. And it says there, Tim, the Laundry, list of dates and times given by the police at this time makes no sense to me. Had the police arrested and charged the suspect as the initial assault and battery of joy at a mother's home might have prevented further assault and threats by the suspect. In addition, when the first report was made along with advice to go to the family court, the police should have gone to the suspect and speak to him about the complaint made against him by his wife.
The prosecution of life and property is the responsibility of the police and they failed to take action and somebody says there via WhatsApp. De Marsha people, they are shameless. Castri East is the worst and dilapitated community in the whole of St. Lucia and the rep is boasting he celebrated 25 years of being a rep. Our very very sad indeed for St. Lucia for choosing these visionless people for the rep Pier should be ashamed of himself. Again, according to a WhatsApp message, some more of your messages and it reads, "If every murder prompted the same level of public attention, official urgency, and societal reflection, perhaps we would be further along in confronting the culture of violence that continues to erode our communities. Violence has not become more or less tragic based on the story attached to it. The circumstances may shape our emotions, but the outcome remains the same. A human life has been taken and a family has been left to grieve. What concerns me is that society often appears more responsive to certain forms of violence than to violence itself. We become deeply engaged when a case contains particular elements that resonate emotionally. Yet many other victims pass through public consciousness with far less discussion.
This is not an argument against the outrage shown in some cases. It is a question of whether our collective concern for human life is as consistent as it should be. This is not a discussion about men versus women. It is a discussion about a society becoming increasingly accustomed to violence. A young man was murdered just 48 hours after joining. Have we already moved on?
Are we demanding justice with the same intensity? Are we asking what conditions continue to produce these tragedies? If violence is truly the enemy, then our commitment to confronting it must extend beyond individual cases and toward the larger crisis facing us all.
Another WhatsApp message. I can't say one thing that has ever made a difference in the life of the people of Castri's East and from that constituency, not even the playing field. Don't talk about housing. worse.
Again, that's according to a WhatsApp message. Somebody says there, "Good day, Tim. In your opinion, do you think that the child of Joyce St. will be allowed to attend the funeral?" I can't answer that question for you, sir. Another one says, "Tim, I'm not sure if you are aware that the price of gas will increase by 75 cents. That's from a reliable source. Implementation day Monday next week. Drivers need to be made aware." Well, I don't know whether this will be done, but I'll monitor the situation and let us see what will happen. Another WhatsApp message. Good afternoon, St. Lucia. Uh, some of the police in St. Lucia sometime when they think happy to you going back to make a report. The police don't take steps. All right, let's see if we have another one.
And it says that the system worked at lightning pace for Mr. Tusen. I've never seen a court a case move from low court to high court so swiftly.
Another one says there good afternoon another Friday on the children from the for school have been sent home again in an exam term because of water. This is affecting the children learning and it affects their behavior and the parents as well because some parents can't leave work to go for their children as they as the children on the road without supervision. some really something really needs to be done. another WhatsApp message and it says there based on what the equalizer is saying, we the people need the office of the DPP to account publicly on what they failed to present uh before the judge in Joyy's case to cause the judge to not be sufficiently convinced by the evidence to grant bail because evidence was sufficient when they stood in the magistrate's court.
Also, was it a different crown council represented to the judge than the one who made a successful no bail submission previously? And if so, why was there such insufficient internal communication to ensure a strong case was placed before the judge? I'm sure they appreciated that this guy was a loose cannon and locking him away was the only answer to Joyy's um safety. Our justice system is a network of failures at every branch. There is scary. This is the most monitored talk show in the world. Still to come, a few of your calls, your WhatsApp messages, and we'll conclude with the new spin news of the day. We also have the new spin question of the day to go through as well.

>> Performed there by Lucian the Color Fool. And thank you so much to uh Calabash TV. We got this clip via Calabash TV. They're recording and reproducing the tracks for Carnival 2026.
Talking about colorful and politics, somebody sent me a WhatsApp message watching all the way from the US for short him referring there to Mr. Romanus Lancico being a hardworking minister. He did he was a hard worker. He brought water to plateau along with Mr. Alan Bke. And the person continues and your best friend Virginia Albert is claiming she did know it was Romanus Lancico.
Still in politics, there is a particular individual who is expressing dissatisfaction with the manner in which the United Workers Party is putting its house in order so that it becomes a viable opposition party and eventually win the next general election. That person is dissatisfied with what has happened thus far. So we have a long uh statement coming from that individual and it reads um UDP must stop restructure and rebuild integrity. It says there almost feel like we have forgotten what transpired in 2021 and 2025 or we suffer from some form of abdia. Maybe we are just deluded in our thoughts. But one thing is clear. The United Workers Party must face the harsh reality. In the wake of two consecutive massive defeats in under 5 years, the UWP cannot afford to appear unchanged.
Whether internal adjustments are happening or not, the public has seen nothing to inspire confidence that a new horizon is ahead. And politics at its core is not about appealing to party members alone. It is about convincing the majority of the voting public.
Without that broad appeal, victory at the polls is impossible.
Yet, what do we see today? The same tired press conferences that fail to energize even their own supporters. The same familiar faces making public statements on behalf of the party. The same leadership unchanged and unchallenged. and very little effort to inform, inspire or engage the wider public. This is not renewal. This is repetition. And repetition after defeat is a recipe for irrelevance. The UWP must stop. Take a breath. Step back from the instinct of self-preservation that dominates the decision-making table.
Restructure not for the comfort of those already seated but for the credibility of the party itself. Present to the public not just a reshuffle deck of the same players but a party rebuilt on integrity, courage and accountability.
The public is not asking for perfection.
They are asking for honesty. They are asking for leadership that looks beyond its own survival and instead commits to the survival of trust in politics. If the UWP cannot demonstrate that change is real, visible and principled, then the public will continue to look elsewhere for representation. Integrity must be the foundation. Renewal must be the strategy. Anything less is simply the same old story and the public has already rejected it twice. Final update from you Jante. Let's find out what's happening in the chat rooms.
>> Starting off on YouTube, our first comment reads, "Where is the minister of gender relations? Where is Katherine Celles?"
Marsha has seen a lot of change including road upgrades to the field, a police station, Boage Road, Tiroche, and a lot more accomplishments. Let's be fair. Where is the Minister of Conflict Resolution?
Another YouTube comment reading, Tim, I want to ask a question. Why in this age the police arresting people at their homes and not allowing them to put on clothes, bringing them down in boxes?
What is wrong in asking to get dressed?
On Facebook, our first comment reads, "Color fools have allowed politics to create enemies."
Well, Tim, it's still a shock to people that he is the PM of St. Lucia.
Tim, someone will take over from PJP and you will hear the people demanding a better life.
We have another comment here saying, "Masha massive in my her black voice."
Roman Lanico built housing schemes in upper entropo and independent city.
Philipier in his 29 years has not built a single house. 29 years of poverty, no housing, crime, deterioration, and begging politicians for handouts.
Congratulations, Philip.
Love it or hate it, Masha has produced many icons from Sir Frederick Clark to Cassie Boom and yes, even PJP Sai. So Masha I is still the capital of Cash Streets. Just look at the mural on the wall. A few comments here reading the people from Cashre's East are just colorful.
And what has he done for the 29 years?
