The report highlights the irony of modern luxury travel remaining a vulnerable petri dish for ancient, rodent-borne pathogens. It serves as a sobering reminder that global health security is often compromised by the lag between zoonotic exposure and institutional response.

HANTA RAT VIRUS: 2 American Passengers Test Positive, 3 Dead & Another Showing SymptomsAdded:
believe this. You ain't gonna believe this, y'all. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. Why they saying Americans got that rat virus now? It has been confirmed. Americans got it, y'all.
And they're saying that some are showing symptoms, y'all. They got it. They got the Hana virus. They got the Hana virus.
And I got a few videos that I want to show you guys. They're going to talk more in detail about it, but one already tested positive, y'all. And now another person is showing signs, baby. This is how it starts. This exactly how it starts, y'all. And they already coming out talking about don't panic. Don't pan it. Uh-uh. Bull crap. That's what they told us before CO. That's what they told us during CO. Don't p it. It's under control. It's low risk bull crap. Then the next thing you know, folks fighting over toilet paper, wiping down groceries with bleach wipes, looking all crazy.
Uh-uh, y'all. No, ma'am. And honey, I'm already hearing they trying to cook up a vaccine for this stuff right now. A vaccine.

Something is off in the atmosphere.
Something it press too if you feel like something is off in the atmosphere. And the scary part is they saying it can take weeks. I'm talking about weeks before people even know they got that It could take eight weeks. You could be having that and you don't know it and you could be close with your boyfriend, your girlfriend or your whoever you laying up with and they you can pass that too. Honey, when I tell you it is it says airborne. You can get it from rat poop, rat pee, just all up in the atmosphere. Baby, what? And I want look do I believe they ain't saying it but I believe that if it can transfer the rat to human why can't it transfer to rat to cat? What if a rat eat a rat?
What if a cat eat a rat that's infected?
And then you know if it get into these American rats these American rats they socialize y'all honey. They be having a hound tall meet, a hall town meeting every day and every night and then they go around different places. You got u homeless people that be around rats and we got a whole bunch of homeless people and they be sleeping next to the rats in the alleys and in the streets cuz they homeless. Then they get it. Then they going to the food banks. Yeah, it it's a mess. But y'all tell me, somebody could be walking around sick and they don't even know it.

Do y'all notice that? Every Why if it ain't that big of a deal, why they got to wear all them suits and stuff? I mean, big white suits. They got the mask, the containment, the special lights, the special flights. Baby, if everything is so calm, why y'all looking so stressed? See, this make regular people panic because the government always trying to calm people down. They trying to make you sound calm while everybody else is looking terrified. And y'all already know cruise ships got cursed energy after CO. I don't trust them. I'm sorry. Too many people trapped together, breathing on each other, touching the same rails, eating at buffets. Oh, no. No, baby. Now they're bringing Americans back here with the symptoms. Uh-uh. See that part right there? That part right there where folks start spiraling online because people still traumatized from 2020. People mentally cannot handle another outbreak, another quarantine, another stay inside, another empty grocery store situation.
Folks already broke, already stressed, already tired. And now here come this rat virus. Honey, these really feel like the end times, y'all. The world is coming to an end. I'm serious. Y'all better stay prayed up, stay close to God, and watch these headlines and pay attention because something about this story feels real familiar to me and I don't like it. Now, let's watch these videos and let me tell y'all what they saying out here. Y'all ready? Let's get the videos up.
>> Major update involving the Americans on that plane flying to Nebraska from the Haunted Virus cruise ship. Here's what we know right now. While the US government flight was in the air heading to Nebraska, the HHS confirmed two Americans were placed in the aircraft's bioontainment unit. One of them tested PCR positive for HANA virus, but has no symptoms so far. The second one has mild symptoms, but has not tested positive at this time. Both were isolated from the other passengers on board. Upon landing, the PCR positive patient is going to go directly to the Nebraska Bioontainment Unit, while the symptomatic passenger is going to be evaluated at a separate special pathogen treatment center.
Meanwhile, multiple states are monitoring other Americans who left that ship earlier. This includes states such as Georgia, Arizona, and California, Texas, Virginia. Two New Jersey residents are also being monitored after being exposed during air travel. So far, no additional symptomatic cases have been reported among those groups being monitored. This does sound alarming, but remember the containment system is functioning the exact way it's supposed to. It's why it was there. These people were identified pretty quickly. They've been isolated quickly. They've been transported safely and the R value of this virus is very low. Health officials continue to say the overall public risk does remain low and I have to agree with that as well. Major update involving the Americans on that plane flying to Nebraska.
Hey nies, it's me Asher with Norville politics and I have your weekly rundown of everything that you need to know so you can stay informed this week. So the second thing that we have to be talking about this week is the haunt virus. So as many of you have probably already seen in the news, haunt virus is a virus that is transmitted between rodents based on exposure to their urine droppings or saliva. There is a cruise that occur is currently off the coast of Africa that originally came from Argentina that it has three people die on it from haunt virus. So, not only is haunt virus really serious when you do get this condition, there was also 30 passengers on this boat who disembarked when the boat was in St. Helena. And so, people are becoming really concerned that there was potentially this big group of 30 people who had been exposed to haunt virus and that have gone home to their home country. So, the first reason haunt virus is different than co 19 is because haunt virus is more difficult to transmit person to person than co 19 was. the exposure requirement is much higher than it was for CO 19.
Whereas CO 19 was an airborne disease that required little time exposure in order to be infected. All right. So what are people saying about this? We actually haven't heard that much from our politicians, but what our government actors are doing is actually really important to tell us where people stand.
What's really important here is that the US and the Centers for Disease Control, the CDC has been working with the H WHO to monitor the exposure of the haunted virus on the cruise ship. This weekend, the CDC is actually flying a chartered plane to the port to pick up 17 Americans who are on that cruise and they're taking them back to a military base in Nebraska where they're going to be quarantined. And so I think this is really important because it also highlights the difference that we'reing news. One American has tested PCR positive for Andes virus, which as you know is a species of haunt virus that spreads human to human. So, one person currently has mild symptoms and then another passenger is the one that tested positive. So, that means possibly as many as two Americans are going to be having confirmed cases now. At least one is confirmed. And they said as of now, the airlift will transport passengers to Nebraska where they will check to see who's going to get let loose and who's going to get stuck at this Nebraska facility. Now, I have had very good beef jerky from Nebraska, from Carney, Nebraska specifically. It's a very great town. Uh, but unfortunately, I'm sure that they will not be allowed to go out and about and uh sample that if they are indeed testing positive for the haunt virus or rather Andes virus, which is a species of haunt virus. Breaking news.
One American has tested PCR positive for Andes >> Americans under quarantine. They're back home from the cruise ship infected with HANA virus. They touched down in Florida late Sunday night. A post on the HHSX account reads, "Two of the 17 passengers had to be in the plane's bioontainment units because one has mild symptoms and another tested positive for the Andes strain of the haunt virus. An airlift will take passengers to Nebraska to the University of Nebraska at Omaha's National Quarantine Unit. The CDC is there to do an aggressive risk assessment. World health officials say the general public should not be worried. Quote, "This is not another CO." I'm James Sears. Give me a follow and let me know what you think of all this. Americans under quarantine.
They're back home from the cruise ship.
>> An American has tested positive for HANA virus and another is symptomatic.
According to health officials, this all coming as 17 Americans are on a flight from Spain to Omaha, Nebraska right now.
These 17 Americans were on the cruise ship where the haunt virus outbreak started and are all potentially exposed.
As of right now, health officials say none of the other passengers have experienced any symptoms. We do know once this plane lands in Omaha, the one person that has tested positive will be taken to the bioontainment unit at the University of Nebraska Medical Cent's campus. It's unclear if the person that is experiencing symptoms will also be taken to that unit or if they will go with the rest of the passengers to the national quarantine unit. All of them are expected to undergo medical examination and assessments and monitoring. After that, the CDC has said that any unsymptomatic passengers could potentially go home and monitor at home for 42 days. It's unclear if that is still the plan now that one of these American passengers has tested positive.
We expect the flight from Spain carrying the passengers to Omaha to land around 2:00 a.m. There are still a lot of questions about what comes next and what this could mean for the other passengers and their potential quarantine and monitoring. We expect to learn a lot more from Nebraska medicine, UNMC, federal, state, and local officials during a 900 a.m. press conference in Omaha on Monday. To stay up to date with the latest, be sure you are following along on KTV or KTV.com or the KTV mobile app. An American has tested positive for HANA virus and another is symptomatic. A United States citizen has now tested mildly positive for the haunt virus and a second US citizen is now experiencing mild symptoms and all US citizens who were on the hontovirus cruise ship are being airlifted to the United States right now and the two passengers with hauntus symptoms are traveling in the plane's bioontainment unit. The US citizen who has tested mildly positive is confirmed to have the strain of the haunt virus and the strain has been identified in the cruise ship's outbreak and the strain can cause severe lung illness that can be fatal in up to 50% of cases and all of the US passengers that are being airlifted to the United States right now will be transferred to a treatment center in Nebraska and each individual will be undergoing clinical assessment and will receive care based on their health condition. Eight people that are no longer on the haunt virus cruise ship are now sick with six of them confirmed to have contracted the virus. And this comes as other countries like Spain and France have evacuated their citizens from the cruise ship along with countries such as Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, the UK, Turkey, and Ireland. A United States citizen has now tested mildly positive for the haunt virus and a second US citizen.
Overnight, the Department of Health and Human Services confirming an American passenger who was on that cruise ship at the center of a deadly haunt virus outbreak has now tested positive for the virus. And another American is showing mild symptoms. They were among the 17 Americans on the cruise ship who were placed on an evacuation flight headed back to the US overnight from Spain.
Officials say the two were traveling in the plane's bioontainment units out of an abundance of caution. Right there, those are the Americans finally on board that evacuation boat, leaving the cruise ship. You can see there's a small group of them being fed back and forth.
They're all wearing that long blue protective gear. We've seen some of them even turn around and wave goodbye to the cruise ship.
>> The Americans are now headed to this facility in Nebraska. The passenger who tested positive will be taken to a specialized bioontainment unit. The others will go to the national quarantine unit for assessment and monitoring. That same bioontainment unit back in 2014 cared for Americans with the Ebola virus who'd been medically evacuated from Africa. And in 2020, some of the first Americans diagnosed with COVID were treated there. The CDC has previously said there will be no mandatory quarantine for the people not showing haunt virus symptoms. They'll be allowed to either go home or self monitor for 42 days or stay at the quarantine center. It remains to be seen if that will change now given at least one positive case has been confirmed among the group. Experts emphasize this outbreak is not like the early days of co and this virus is not new.
>> The good news is is that in since it is haunt virus and not another corona virus or influenza virus. This is one that has very limited ability to be transmitted person to person. In fact, it's a rare exception. And so we have no question about the fact that this really is on the end of its run right now.
>> The crews, which cost around $15,000 per person, travel to some of the most remote islands in the world, including Tristan Duna, an island of about 200 people. This video shows British paratroopers parachuting onto that island with medics and supplies, after a suspected case of haunt virus was confirmed there. And authorities in France also confirm a French passenger on the ship experienced symptoms during their flight home. That person is now under observation. So just so many moving parts and it's going to take a while to figure out if everyone will test negative or not.
>> You're right. Each one of these next steps is certainly tricky. Lionel, thank you.
