Under the new green card policy preventing adjustment of status inside the United States, immigration officers are now required to ask five critical questions: (1) Why did you choose adjustment of status instead of consular processing? (2) Are there any barriers to consular processing? (3) Why did you stay in the United States after your status expired? (4) What ties do you have to your home country? (5) When did you form the intent to change your status in the United States? These questions aim to ensure applicants have legitimate reasons for remaining in the US and did not abandon their home country.

5 Questions officers are ordered to ask under the new Green Card rules! #immigration本站添加:
So, we had a few green card interviews after the new policy to prevent adjustment of status inside the United States took place last Friday. It seems like immigration officers are now asking some new questions. And in this video, I'm going to reveal to you the five new questions some immigration officers are asking under the new policy. Screenshot this video right now because maybe I have to take it down. Number one, why did you choose adjustment of status instead of consular processing? This is going to be a very common question all officers will be asking. In our client's case, she had a car accident and she couldn't travel for many, many months.
Number two, are there any barriers to consular processing? In other words, why can't you go back home and apply for the green card at a US embassy? Maybe you can show that your life is in the United States right now. you were a student here or came on a work visa. It's not going to work for tourist visas. In my client's case, she was going to get pregnant and the separation from her husband during this period of time is not going to work. Number three, why did you stay in the United States after your status expired? This is going to be a critical question for many of you that overstayed your visas. You better prepare very carefully how to answer this question. I'll make a separate video specifically focusing on number three. Number four, what ties do you have to your home country? What family ties? They want to see that you didn't just abandon everything. You came to United States. You have a pretty significant base in your home country.
And the reason that you came to United States was not just to stay but to do other things. Number five is super important. When did you form the intent to change your status in the United States? During the interview with our client, they questioned when did she quit her job? When did she notify her boss overseas that she's coming to United States? The officer requested quite a few things to show when the client formed the intent to actually change status. After this interview, no decision is being made. Typically what they're going to do, they're going to take the results, go back and form a written decision to all applicants. So now you know it, five questions, screenshot it, and sign up for our webinar tomorrow where I'm going to reveal even more information about what's happening behind the scenes. The link is here and in our bio. See you there.
