Under Georgia law, shoplifting that would normally be a misdemeanor (under $500) becomes a felony when the person has three prior shoplifting convictions, carrying a sentence of 1-10 years in prison regardless of the value of items taken. This felony recidivism provision allows courts to impose the maximum sentence when repeat offenders commit additional crimes, such as criminal trespass and obstruction of police officers, demonstrating that repeated criminal behavior leads to significantly harsher legal consequences.

Walmart Shoplifter Returns After Stealing THOUSANDS, Doesn't End Well (Bodycam Reaction)Added:
What is up everybody? We have Walmart shoplifter returns after stealing thousands and it doesn't end well. This is when Walmart gets you. It's when you've come in the store over and over and over again and they have proof of you stealing a lot of merchandise.
You'll probably get away with it once or twice, but if you keep going at it, if you keep stealing from them, they're going to get you and they're going to get it so they could press felony charges. That's how these stores operate. Just so you know, just because you think, "Oh, you're a hot shot and you stole once." Oh, trust me, they know. They know everything. These stores are very sophisticated now. So, here we go.
>> She's peeling off stickers and putting them on. has been there since 6:00.
>> Jeez, >> what did I do wrong? Am I going to jail?
>> STOP. YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED.
>> Police arrive at a Walmart where loss prevention is currently watching a woman who looks like she's shopping but is actively switching tags by removing stickers of lowpriced items around 99 and then placing them on top of the barcodes of higher priced items, hoping to selfch checkckout her way to some serious savings. But little does she know the advanced camera systems of this Walmart.
>> How are you?
>> Good.
>> They're starting early, huh?
>> What she did is she pulled a lot of tags from the socks. She stuck them on the watches and stuff. And then now she's um she's peeling off stickers and putting them on adult clothing.
That's what she's doing. She's been since 6:00.
>> Jeez.
Maybe she thought if she got here early enough, y'all wouldn't be here.
>> Maybe. I don't know. How you been?
>> I'm good.
>> I'm going to point out that it's uh 7:55 a.m. at the time of the recording. So, she's been there almost two hours already.
>> All the work that we have to go do just to go separate or fish out what was stolen and what was not stolen.
Goodness.
>> So, do you want me to go ahead and grab her and >> No, that's it. I guess we'll wait till she goes to the I told them once she gets to the register, leave her alone.
She might be getting ready again. She has more than that. She just put a lot of stuff back. I think her budget was like halfway full.
>> I was going to say the altering tags is enough for us.
>> See their own watches on the jewelries.
>> 1913 Central.
>> A second officer arrives to assist and is also surprised with the technology this Walmart has.
>> Been here since 6:00 in the morning.
>> Good lord. Those units back in service only.
>> See that one? She added something on that.
She stuck something in there.
>> Are you able to see the whatever she's scanning? In addition to cameras, loss prevention also has the ability to remotely view the price of every item that is scanned across the registers. I think it has a different type of see $1. $1 that you got that is 29. So maybe she didn't she didn't mean to go scan that $30. Call um let them know. Leave her alone. She took that $30 one.
>> She can see shirt boys t-shirt for $3.99. That's pants.
Lord, don't play >> this one. She didn't get a chance to go and change the tag on this one.
>> So, is that stuff that she's not going to?
>> So, 30 years ago, I worked at Sears. Um, and I sat in the asset protection room during my orientation. They had this technology back then.
Excuse me. They had this technology back then.
This is nothing new, guys. This has been around forever. Um, yeah, you were able to zoom in and see the price of uh, now back then they had cashiers obviously and you couldn't really swap tags at a store like Sears, but you could zoom in to the the price monitor and all that um, 30 years ago. So, this is not new technology. This has been around for a long time.
>> Rayon.
>> Yeah, cuz she took some tags out of this clothing right here. She had more than that. She had more than that. How does she want to pee cash?
>> So, are y'all just going to count towards her theft? The things that she rung up and altered like the boys tea.
Do y'all do like the difference or do y'all do the total?
>> Well, what we do is we refund whenever she's scanned and then we'll charge her with the one >> the full price of the pants.
>> Yes. I guess she's still the betting.
What else do you want?
>> Lane.
She left the dollar. She left the dollar.
>> All right, let's go. Nab her.
Where she going? Where >> she going?
F5. Yeah.
First real >> gift card.
>> This Walmart has a nail salon.
Sorry, this Walmart has a nail salon. I thought that was pretty funny. And I've heard of that, but I've never actually seen one. So, that's pretty funny.
You >> want to come with us?
>> Why? Why?
>> What did I do wrong?
>> Go speak in the office. We can go speak in the office.
>> Okay.
>> I'll take this with us.
>> All right. We'll just leave it here for right now.
>> Am I going to jail?
>> We'll talk in the office over here.
lost.
>> These officers have no idea the trick she's about to pull within the next few moments inside the lost prevention room.
>> Have a seat for me. Have a seat right here. Oh, right here.
>> Do you have an ID for you?
>> No, ma'am. What did I do wrong? I didn't steal anything.
>> You changed tags, Vicki.
>> I did. Ma'am, please don't press charges. I will. I got the kids everything coming up. Please ma'am, I don't >> You got your ID?
>> I don't.
>> Please don't make me go to jail. What's your name? Amanda Barber. Hold >> on. Hey. Hey.
>> STOP. YOU'RE GONNA GET TASED. YOU BETTER STOP RIGHT NOW.
>> MY KIDS, I'm so sorry.
>> Put your hands behind your back. You know, put your head.
>> She actually had some steps on these officers. I'm surprised she stopped. She should have kept going.
>> I don't know. That's for sure.
>> Well, get >> Stop.
>> I'm so sorry.
>> Stop moving.
>> I'm so sorry.
>> I'm going definitely going to >> Stop moving. I'm so sorry.
Will I get a bond when I get there?
>> You grab my body cam.
>> Yeah.
>> Please don't make me right there.
>> You ran.
>> I promise. Please. The kids. The holiday's coming up.
>> That's on you.
>> I'm going to Carolina.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Will I get a bond?
>> Sure.
>> Today? Will I get a bond?
>> Hey, hold her real quick.
>> Can I bond myself out?
>> Stop asking questions right now.
>> Would y'all really take a move even if I went and ran?
>> Well, you lost the possibility of not.
>> We don't know. That would have been on her if it was just some pants. Probably not.
>> Can I call someone to come get >> Nope. You can wait.
Y'all let people bond themselves out.
I'm sorry I ran, y'all. She went home.
>> You just want to put her in the back of my car.
>> No, I get back.
>> Sit with her.
>> Can I get back in the car?
>> I'm sorry, y'all.
>> I'm sorry.
Have a seat.
>> Can I buy myself out with that money?
Did she So her her whatever she had on her feet, her shoes or her slippers flew off. Did she put them back on? I didn't see.
>> Look, this is going in your pocket.
>> Yes, sir.
>> And I'm giving him this.
>> That's what you left in the machine.
Stupid.
Still attempting to determine who she is. Officers are shocked to realize her theft history and one critical detail that makes her eventual prison sentence much more lengthy. More on these details at the end.
>> I I know Amanda Barber from >> years ago. She got caught chaplain years ago when >> it's not her. It's not Amanda.
>> Oh, I don't know. I was asking. I might >> public, >> but that's >> No, but we we caught her years ago >> when Marco was still here.
>> 1913.
>> If that's her real name, Amanda Barber, >> can you try to get her name date of birth again? What's your name and date of birth?
>> Amanda Barber.
>> What was the year?
>> 1986.
>> Amanda Barber. 1913 central co.
Amanda Barber just 86.
86 white female.
>> I'm sorry.
>> You don't have to apologize.
>> Holidays are coming up. I got kids.
>> She's six years younger than me and she looks to be like a few years older than me. The years have been rough on old Amanda Barber. Wasn't Amanda Barber the um Oh, no. That was Andrea Barber. That was the woman who played Kimmy Gibler on Full House >> for the holidays. I shouldn't Why did I do that? All right, hang tight.
>> Will I get a warrant when I or a bond when I get up here?
>> Possibly, but you probably won't even get one till you go to the county.
>> Can I bond myself out?
>> I'm sure you can.
>> I'm sorry. Are y'all going to charge me running?
>> Yes. So, she's asking all these questions about bonding herself out.
Like, she knows the drill. This is She's no stranger to getting arrested. She knows the drills. This is not her first time. Maybe it was her first time in this jurisdiction, but the asset protection manager in Walmart already has a record of her.
They could get her with trespassing, too, because I'm sure they banned her from the store back then. Let's find out.
>> Is that a misdemeanor?
>> Yes.
>> What is it called?
>> Obstruction.
>> Before the officer is able to leave the parking lot, police at the department relay yet another critical charge against her. Amanda Ber out of LJ is invalid negative. She's showing 25 PS in Paul and a TPO that she is banned from Walmart on.
>> I just said that.
>> Trespass.
>> Just said that. I knew that like if they caught her a couple years prior, they would have banned her from the store and that's exactly what happened. So, she's got a trespassing charge in addition to this.
>> Is that another charge?
>> Yeah.
>> You're already banned. hard.
>> You knew you were trespassed from Walmart's.
>> Good god. I'll leave this unlocked.
>> Is that her?
>> Yeah, she was trespassed already. So, we'll get her for the trespass.
>> So, you got I can't access her old file.
I just have >> she was on our old apes case.
>> Remember her years ago? Years ago service >> when her babies were little. She was >> stealing like makeup and stuff like that. And we sent it to jail too >> years ago.
>> Are they getting the amount?
>> Yes.
>> Yeah, they're doing the amount.
>> It's too early for this.
>> You got to be really stupid to go back to the same store you were already caught and going back there again. I don't care if it's been two years. Asset protection uh employees are career employees at the a lot of Walmart people are career Walmart people, but especially asset protection people. They are career employees. They're there forever. They they put they do the time.
>> You're right. And I said just such a dumb. Why would you go run? So why did she stop over here? I guess cuz she can't cross over there.
>> Uh >> I don't know.
>> I told her she was going to get tased.
Oh, >> I wasn't going to, but I usually get some.
>> They stopped.
>> Yeah, >> she took off running. She crazy.
>> Too early, >> right? Too early for that.
>> Am I going to jail? You are now.
>> You are now.
>> You actually had a chance to not.
>> You have You have more um >> Thank you.
>> You want me to do Oh, I still have to do her refund. Do you want me to take an account for all of the tags that she tore off or just the attempted?
>> Um, just the one that is that went through the register. And I I need those merchandise, too. The one that she saw >> that was in her pocket.
>> Okay. So, 786.
So, she's trespassed, too.
>> Yep.
>> At least 10 years ago when we got her.
So, she's been coming in here.
She She looks different though.
>> Yeah. It look like she was banned from a lot of stores like Academy and including Target.
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz you know we we don't you don't have to go burn anything under this. We can you can you are file.
>> Yeah. That sounds good.
>> Cool.
>> Thank you so much.
>> Thank you.
>> Yeah. No more today. You did too much.
Or at least wait till after lunch.
>> See you.
>> We're good.
>> It's too early for this. What do you mean?
>> Did you give her slides back?
>> Oh, why?
>> I don't know.
>> On the floor, boy.
I was I was worried about her slides.
So, she did get them back.
>> Okay.
Good.
>> Yeah, that coffee is not really agree with me now.
I sure got energy drink.
>> Yeah.
>> Like a bond today?
>> I don't know, ma'am.
That That's something that the jail and the court steal. I'm I don't do that.
You'll find out when you go to Perry.
>> Take this off the court.
>> We will when we get in there.
>> I don't want to rob.
>> In the end, Amanda is sentenced to 10 years in prison for the following reasons and charges. This may sound excessive, but here is the breakdown.
The three charges are theft, criminal trespass, and obstruction of a police officer. Amanda did take under $500 of clothes from Walmart. Normally, that is a misdemeanor, but Georgia law makes it a felony if the person has three prior shoplifting convictions. Court records list three prior shoplifting convictions from Barber, one in 2019, and two in 2021. So, this case was charged under the felony recidivis provision, which carries 1 to 10 years in prison.
Criminal trespass is when prosecutors say she knowingly entered Walmart after being told she was not allowed on the property and obstruction of a police officer. This is a misdemeanor where she ran from or otherwise resisted officers while they were performing their legal duties. Now, a key reason to her receiving 10 years is the fact that it was a felony shoplifting enhancement under 16-8-14 for repeat shoplifterss, which allows a sentence anywhere from 1 to 10 years regardless of the value of items taken.
The court used her prior record and the new trespass and obstruction as aggravating factors and gave the top end range for the sentencing. As always, let me know what you guys think down below.
Wow. Okay.
10 years. Holy cow. Um I don't know if she will actually do the 10 years, but that is um fine art girl. There she is. That is a long time. Um yeah, you you know you know that you're banned from this store. you know that they're going to be watching you. You've been caught here before and you come back and you steal again. And she's banned all over town.
It sounds like she's banned from Target.
She's banned from whatever that academy store is. I don't know if Academy is a store itself or if that's like a location of another Walmart or or something. So, she's banned all over the place.
What do you What do you think's going to happen?
What do you think is going to happen?
They're going to catch you.
You're not some mastermind criminal.
You're a [ __ ] idiot.
You're a [ __ ] idiot. 10 years.
10 years to save some [ __ ] money on some I I get it. You're You're mother.
You got kids. Shit's expensive.
I get it. I totally get it. Stealing's never the answer. Never the answer.
Never go to the thrift stores, go to church rummage sales, whatever. If you have to buy your kids clothes, stealing, you're always going to get caught. It's not worth it. It's not worth it, lady.
Holy c. And if you're watching this, you know, this is it's so stupid. Um, yeah, let me know in the comments below what are you thinking. And, uh, should she have kept running? She would have probably been better off just running.
She had a step on those cops.
Um I don't know. Her stamina was up to speed. You heard the cop later say that he wasn't going to tase her. Obviously, you're not going to tase her while you're running. Like that doesn't even make any sense. Um one two he also said the coffee doesn't agree with him. So obviously he was like running to the point where he got sick because he just had a cup of coffee and then he had to chase this broad around the Walmart parking lot. If she would have kept running, I think she would have gotten away. Now eventually they probably would have caught her because they would have had an address on her and they would have just went to her house to get her.
But who knows? Maybe they would have like maybe they would have been like, "Oh, it's not even worth our time.
Whatever. It's $500 of merchandise.
we're not going to go arrest her.
And she would have gotten away. She would have just kept running. There's a lot of things that could have happened here that didn't. And now Amanda Barber, um, I'm going to have to look her up on Google and see if she's actually in prison or if they let her out. 10 years though, I imagine she's probably not going to do the full 10, but I imagine she's in jail right now. Uh, at least for half of it. And then she'll probably get parrolled and on probation and all that.
But she's going to have to do some time for sure. 10 years. She's going to have to do some time, at least like two or three years before even the possibility of parole or getting out on good behavior or whatever.
All right, thanks for watching. I'll see you guys in the next video. This one was an entertaining one. Peace out.
