The pharmaceutical industry is shifting focus from GLP-1 injections to oral medications like Wegovy and Foundayo pills due to several key advantages: greater convenience for patients (no needles, easier travel), lower manufacturing costs, no refrigeration requirements, and better insurance cost-effectiveness. Healthcare providers are increasingly prescribing pills to patients who previously couldn't tolerate injections, and many are planning to transition patients from injections to pills for long-term sustainable weight management. While injections may not disappear entirely, the trend strongly favors oral GLP-1 medications as the preferred treatment option for obesity care.

Will Wegovy And Foundayo Pills Replace GLP-1 Shots? Why I Think The Future Of Obesity Care ChangingAdded:
You pop with Koi.
>> Hey, it's Koi. Welcome back to the channel. I have a question for you. If you could achieve the same weight loss results from a pill instead of an injection, would you still choose an injection?
Yeah, I know you're like, "Girl, what are you talking about?" But based on the trends that I've been seeing in the pharmaceutical industry, I really feel like that's where we're headed. I feel like more emphasis will be placed on making better GLP-1 pills, such as the Wegovy pill or the Foundeo pill, instead of focusing on making better injections.
Now, I'll explain why I feel that way, but I just want you to know that this is my own theory, my own opinion, and I just thought I would bring it here so we can have a healthy discussion about it and I can get your opinion on the topic.
I have tried GLP-1 injections in the past, and I would say they are not for me. I quickly realized that they weren't for me.
I had very bad side effects. I also realized I had an aversion to needles. I didn't even know that was a thing for me until it was came to me came for me to get myself a shot every week, and I realized I don't like this. And not only that, to add to it, um I started developing rashes at the injection sites, and that was the final straw to make me say, "I don't like needles. I don't like these injections. Therefore, GLP-1s are not for me." That was until I talked to my doctor in January, and she talked to me about the Wegovy pill. When she described the Wegovy pill, even with all the description uh the restrictions, me taking it on an empty stomach, waiting 30 minutes, and all that, I still was like, "Okay, I can try this. I can do the pills." I couldn't do the injections, but I could definitely do the pills, and I don't mind the routine.
So, that's why I'm here where I am today. If they weren't If they did not develop a pill, I would probably have never been on a GLP-1 again, okay? And I feel like a lot of people feel the same way that I feel.
If everything was the same, if the weight loss was the same when it came to a pill or an injection, I really feel like more people would choose a pill over an injection. And I feel like providers and manufacturers feel the same way. When it comes to providers, a lot more prescriptions are being written for the pills than the injections, and a lot of those prescriptions are coming from new patients. So, providers are eager to prescribe those medications.
For one, the more patients they get, the more money for them. But not only that, they get to help patients treat their obesity and other things that they would not have been able to help in the past because those patients were not willing to take injections. So, I feel like providers are on board to really focus on pills over injections.
Also, pharmacies Pharmacies are more inclined to carry pills over injections, I feel like, because of the refrigeration aspect of the pens. Um I feel like pills are just easier to handle. Uh they're able to easier to store, and I feel like pharmacies are able to, um you know, offer them have an abundance of pills instead of the injections. When it comes to manufacturers, manufacturers are realizing the trend as well.
More manufacturers are coming out discussing pill options of GLP-1s instead of injections.
First of all, they want the business.
They want more people to try their medication. They don't want people to go out and try combat compounded versions because they are cheaper. They want people to actually take the medication that they're producing. So, they're working on producing things that are more cost-effective and more sustainable for patients in the long term. And those happen to be pills at this very moment.
Also, it's much less expensive to produce pills than it is to do produce those pens. When it comes to the pens, you have to think about the mechanism of the pen, the needles, um refrigeration, delivery while refrigerated, all those things you have to think about when it comes to manufacturing those pens instead of manufacturing pills. You can manufacture billions of pills for the uh same time and energy and money that it takes to manufacture maybe a million of the pens. And I feel like everyone in the industry is realizing that and there it will be a shift to pills instead of injections. Now, I'm not saying that injections will completely go away, but I do feel like there will be a shift in more of a focus on the pills.
And maybe injections might be harder to come by. They might start producing less of the injections, but I just feel like more focus will be on the pills. You know, GLP-1s is a hot commodity right now.
And I feel like in the future it will be even bigger than it is now just based on what scientists are realizing when it comes to GLP-1s. We know that it treats obesity. We also know that it lower people's blood sugar, but there are even studies showing it's linked to obesity-related cancers, liver diseases, kidney diseases, so many things. I've even read a study about it being linked to improving addiction and substance use disorders. So, GLP-1 is the thing right now and I feel like it is going to be a bigger thing in the future and I don't think there's no way of getting around it. Also, when it comes to pills, in my opinion, I feel like they're easier to travel with.
They're easier to manage. I feel like that's something a a routine that people can easily stick to and also I feel like it's convenience.
And convenient always wins out when it comes to us as humans. You know, we want the fastest thing, the easiest thing.
We want what we want, instant instant gratification. We want something convenient and I feel like pills are that for us. I feel like the only reason why a lot of people are on injections is because the weight loss is greater. So, in the future, if manufacturers focus more on the research of GLP-1 pills and producing pills that are more effective, I feel like it would not be any more space for injections.
They're more cost-effective for the patients. They're more cost-effective to manufacture. They're more convenient, easier to travel with, don't need any refrigeration, and they're more likely to maybe be approved in the future by insurance companies than injections.
Insurance companies are going to always favor medications that are more cost-effective, you know? So, the pills would be that for weight loss. One more thing I wanted to mention is the pills being more of a long-term sustainable option than injections. I saw a lot of articles discussing the fact that more providers are planning on having their patients uh take injections for a short period of time and then discontinue those injections and switch over to pills for long-term use.
Um and that adds to my theory, okay? Now, I could be wrong. Like I said, there are some things to keep in mind. Um >> [music] >> people might just respond better with injections. People might actually prefer injections over pills even if the weight loss was the same. So, there are some things to keep in mind, but this is my theory, okay?
>> [laughter] >> I'm interested to know how you feel about it. Do you feel that if the weight loss results were the same across the board, more people would still choose injections over pills, or would pills be dominant when it comes to um weight loss? How do you feel? Let me know in the comment section below and I will engage with you, okay?
All right. Thank you so much for tuning in in another video. Thank you so much for your support. Until next time.
