>> Just a fun naming scheme to see occasionally. Big in the 80s or '9s.
>> My science project. I'm trying to think of all the ones. My pet monster.
>> I got you thinking, right?
>> Yeah. Uh yeah, there's a lot of those.
>> Uh this was one when you presented this to me. I'd seen the poster many times.
You have it lovingly uh posted in your kitchen at the moment.
>> Yeah, I did a I did a a poster swap for my kitchen and on up until recently it was Mondo Kane, too. And I figured, hey, um let me put something else in there.
>> I mix it up. get mom doing a little shave job.
>> Yeah. Um and speaking of the poster, um this is one of my favorite VHS covers um of all time. It I mean there, you know, you got people like, you know, they like Zombie and and there's like some really iconic VHS covers.
>> Bleeders. We always bring up >> uh Bleeders, especially like um the Wizard video covers are very notorious and and all those kinds of things. But I mean, this one is just like, come on.
You can't get any better than for a werewolf comedy.
>> Yeah, >> it's brilliant. You know what you're getting instantly.
>> You got mom, you got mom's sexy uh mil legs right there, but they're all they're all hairy and she's shaving them. And then you have, you know, the daughter and the the husband like, "Oh my god, my mom and my wife, she's a werewolf." You know, >> if you don't know, it's a comedy. I don't know what the hell you've been watching cuz their reactions sell it all to me.
>> It's perfectly describes it.
>> And what you don't see on there from the poster is also Ruth Buzzy. Yes. our our friend returning from the being and uh the the the side character also making comical screaming faces. So yeah, it's perfect.
>> It's like cropped for the for the for the for the tape. Yeah, >> this is one that is still not on DVD or 4K for that matter at this point. Like it it was never released on disc.
>> I was wondering how quickly we would get into that cuz I watched this on I think it was Amazon Prime streaming.
>> Yeah. Uh, it's on a few other places, but yeah, it's definitely VHS quality. I mean, it's a good ass rip for VHS quality, but yeah, I want at least DVD for this sucker, right? It looks pretty good. It might even be a laser disc rip.
>> Oh, it might. That might make more sense.
>> It might be. I'm not I'm not 100%.
>> I didn't see any scan lines. It look pretty good.
>> I mean, that's the one we're using to for the reference for the show that you're going to be watching on YouTube.
If you're watching on YouTube, it looked good for 43 independent film from 1989.
That looks solid. Yeah, but that that that print and that transfer is is better than the VHS for sure. So, I'm I'm thinking it's laser disc laser disc.
Now, I don't know what happened to the original film elements of this. There's really not too much stuff behind the scenes because it just doesn't exist. I don't think anybody I mean there might be something out there uh where somebody did a deep dive that I just did not come across.
>> You missed it or something. Yeah. Or were it >> on Yeah. Right. Well, like on like a blog or something or, you know, there's a lot of those uh people who um you know, do deep dives on these movies and they don't really get a lot of recognition for it.
>> Think Fangoria or Gorezone might have had something on it since they had product placement in this film. I don't know if it was a a proof product placement, but they both appear. I'm sure I don't I mean maybe it was covered in Fangoria, but it must have been like a little blurb about it because it's not really a horror film. No, >> you know, and even though it's a horror comedy, it's much more a comedy than anything else.
>> Big time. It's it's the horror is the window dressing or to get you in the door. Kind of like I mean, I was going to say mom because there's a lot of connections with mom in this movie, even though mom is actually way more serious.
We covered that a year or two back.
>> Uh yeah, I think yeah, Mom is definitely the more serious of the two movies, even though that has like a lot of black comedy.
>> It does, which this does, too. But I just Mom, there there's going to be some references. Brian Jones and John Saxon definitely know each other. Let's just leave it at that for now. Um, but yeah, go back and check that out for our That was also a Mother's Day episode. We didn't say that. This is our Mother's Day episode.
>> Well, I said it was a full moon on Mother's Day. Yeah, but No, it's all good. But it is Yeah, it's our Mother.
>> It's our Mother's Day episode for sure.
>> Uh, like you said, we didn't get to do Leprechaun this year, so god damn it.
We're doing Mother's Day. I We like to We do the fringe holidays that most people don't think about.
>> Well, once you get >> for movies, I mean, you got to you got to run with it, you know?
>> We already finished The Stepfather Ro, so Father's Day is not break. We're doing what we can. I'm sure there's still Killer Dad movies or some Oh, there's the remake of Stepfather if you're really uh itching. Joe, you can look right up there behind you. There's Invisible Dad. So, don't worry. There's plenty to do.
>> I actually think you've told me about Invisible Dad. There's even Invisible Mom.
>> There also is. There's two Invisible Moms and one of them has D. Wallace in it.
>> Well, movie dumpster season 10, 11, and 12. There's your future. It's all sorted out. Don't worry.
>> This one really needs, in my opinion, I it really needs the the physical media treatment, and I don't know why that is.
Whether it's the, you know, the original film elements uh are gone or locked up in a vault somewhere, you know, I really don't know. Now, you got to understand with all a lot of these old distribution companies like this one, Prism put this out, right? Uh Crown Pictures International, I think, produced it and then Prism uh put out the uh you know, distributed it. those companies liquidated like Wizard Video and Prism and uh AIP and all these different things, you know, media and um Canon and and all that [ __ ] >> So, it becomes like lost media, you have that a lot of problems. Less so with music, but with video games where it's like [ __ ] who owns this? We don't know.
>> Exactly. It's a rights thing, too. And um >> because there's not that there's not that many heavy hitters right now, like big production companies, right? So, a when when when a lot of these companies liquidated and and got bought up, um they were bought in batches by other companies, distribution companies to make a buck off of, right? I believe the Prism catalog now either it either resides with Lionsgate or Paramount. And I'm not exactly sure which one.
>> So, never going to get resurrected if it's either of them, honestly.
>> Not necessarily because Lionsgate usually plays nice with like Shout Factory.
>> Okay. and Paramount has been teaming up a lot with um Terra Vision and Vine and Vinegar Syndrome.
>> So, they've been kind of letting them crack into their their vault of stuff, for lack of a better term. So, um you know, I don't know how much interest is in My M's a Werewolf, but those companies were built on boutique.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> You know, they're they're getting less and less boutique, I guess. I mean, they released Congo for Christ sake. You know what I mean?
>> Well, that stuff was at theaters in the last 30 years. I feel like the further you go back, companies are weird depending on how big the movie was.
>> I know, but my point is like their mission statement was releasing, you know, uh >> Oh. Oh, yeah. I see.
>> Be movies and and Lost Gems and things like that. And I feel like this is ripe for the picking, you know what I mean?
>> Yeah, that does make sense actually when you put it that way.
>> I mean, it's just it would be a lot of fun to see. I mean, John Saxon's in it, you know what I mean? I mean, that's I think that's enough star power for >> Susan Blakeley was pretty big herself.
>> Yeah. And I think that's enough star power. Plus, she got the chick from uh Mac and Me and the other girl from uh >> from Friday. Was that seven?
>> Friday 7. Yeah. Maddie and Seven.
>> And Ruth Buzzy is in it. You know what I mean? So, like I feel like, you know, there's definitely interest for this. I feel like people are going to watch this episode and be like, "Holy [ __ ] I remember that. I remember that on cable." You know what I mean? It's definitely one of those without a doubt.
>> So, with that being said, talking about memories. So, this was your this was your first time with us?
>> Yeah, this is definitely one like I kind of alluded to that.
>> Have you heard of this before?
>> I definitely had heard of it. But again, the posters either when I seen the poster or the video at conventions. I don't remember if the video store, but definitely at conventions, horror conventions. So, it was uh one Joe had brought up many times over the years just being friends. Maybe not even on the show, but just you've brought it up.
>> I know. I' I know I've brought it up.
>> You had to have even quoted around me and it probably went right over my head >> or been like, "Hey, we should watch this."
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, it was a long time coming. It's just one of those ones.
Never got around to. And here we are.
>> There's a time and a place for everything.
>> Yeah. Yeah. And Mother's Day was it apparently. Mother's Day was it >> 2026.
>> So, uh, so yeah, man. I used to watch this a lot as a kid. It was I, you know, obviously I caught it on cable. It did get a theatrical run.
>> Okay. So, that's one of the little things that I could find about this.
>> That makes it more shocking that it isn't available in a higher quality, but it's happened before in the show.
>> We're not quite to the point yet where things the video the the the home video market is like that cash cow.
>> For how long did TV shows just tape over the recording? We're never going to use this again. Oh, well, >> and then it's like [ __ ] the market 30 years later.
>> What Well, what I mean by that is like uh we talked about it on the Lecon 3 episode about how uh places like Trimark were taking uh instead of doing them theatrically, they would do a theatrical run, but then they would make most of the money back on home video. Like it was a guarantee, right?
>> You were going to do Gang Busters, right? Great example.
>> Well, the first Leprechaun movie specifically on Leprechaun 3, we talked about it. This was um kind of right before that. So, we're still putting this out in the theater and then it's coming to home video. But the home video market is not that cash cow that it comes to be in the early to mid90s.
Right. Right. And even into the 2000s and then finally Burrough it eats its own tail and collapses. God, right? Um so, >> hence my problems with Paramount and [ __ ] all those other companies we were just talking about.
>> So, what would happen is it would go to home video, but you it would get the the the thing was TV, right? Yeah.
>> So, so like the rights for it would be shown on TV, whether it's like USA or TBS or some [ __ ] like that. Some, you know, you know, Saturday evening movie, family thing that you could show on TV.
And this is one of those movies cuz there's not like any gory anything like that in it. It's mostly comedy. So, like that's where I I think they might have picked up uh the loose change.
>> Yeah. No, I could totally see that.
There's really nothing too crazy in this >> sex things that they don't even see anything, >> right? But I think I think maybe that's why they didn't maybe there wasn't a lot of attention paid to like the the film elements or anything like that. It was just kind of like here's this lowbudget comedy thing. We it got limited theatrical release. We put it on tape.
We sold it to the TV. [ __ ] it. I'm done.
>> Right. Like yeah without getting deep deep into it. It's like oh well we filmed this in a month or less. It we're happy with it but it's done. Next project. Let's make some money on it. I mean that wasn't super uncommon.
>> That lent it to being on TV a lot.
>> Sure. Right. again, Susan Blakeley and John Sax and other stars. People were familiar with them.
>> Yeah. And you probably get people sit there, oh just John Sax and [ __ ] Let's see. I never heard of this.
>> And even John Shuck, you know, he's Yeah. The dad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So, yeah, I used to watch this on TV all the time and like I have like vivid memories like a vivid memory like specifically a core memory of sitting um on the floor cuz I always, you know, we all used to sit on the floor in front of our television. Crisscross applesauce.
Crisscross applesauce. But I used to have like a little um uh real Ghostbusters like metal tray that I used to like eat snacks and [ __ ] on.
>> You brought it up before. I love the visual. Yeah.
>> Yeah. So, we used to live in a townhouse when I was a kid and um there was a big opening under the stairwell. And in that space was this big ass console television that I brought off before and it was like it was huge. I mean, well, I mean, relatively large for the time >> for the time in your kid, >> which is like, I don't know what, like 40 in or something like that, which is gigantic. It was a [ __ ] 40in tube television inside uh a wood uh console, and that [ __ ] TV went all over the place with us. We had that for a long ass paid a lot of money for it. You weren't throwing that out easily.
>> But we had we had that TV from like when I was a baby till like uh in my teens, we had that television. Um, but uh, so I have a lot of good memories like watching Alf and [ __ ] like that. But I remember specifically this movie in that townhouse sitting on the floor and like the intro with the hey there little red riding hood, you know that song that they love to replay throughout the movie. I mean, I dig it. It totally works for this. It works for this, too.
Yeah. I just have like a very core memory of that. And I, you know, my mom always would have, you know, stuff on like this or like whether that's, you know, Freddy or Jason or Child's Play or My M's a Werewolf or Monster Squad or Kill the Clowns, you know, whatever. It comes back to It always comes back to my mother.
>> Oh, yeah. You know what I mean?
>> That was her saw. She was >> That was her saw. She always had it on.
And this was one we could kind of watch and I not get scared of.
>> Oh yeah.
>> You know, even though John Saxon's pretty scary in this movie.
>> Yeah. Well, when that mirror breaks towards the end, that that could get you right.
>> That could get you pretty good, especially as a as a young.
>> Yeah. Uh, kneeh high to a werewolf, I guess.
>> Yeah. I mean, kneeh high like >> you're little is the point. Shit's scary when you're that young.
>> So, over the years it's just been a staple for me. Um, and it was fun to come back to in my teens and then of course coming back to it now for the show. Um, you know, it's it was just it was it was a it was a [ __ ] straight like [ __ ] shot of nostalgia right into my arm and I was like, ah, it was like a warm blanket wrapping around me watching this. But yeah, man, there's not too much about this. Uh the director uh the director and the writer I have just like a little bit about which is just more interesting to me than anything. And uh the director is Michael Fischer. Um and he directed Death Spa and Crack House. And the writer is Mark Pira. Now um the only other writing credits he has are for things that he's also directed.
>> And the [ __ ] that he's directed I was like oh really like he directed these things. He directed uh Polish Vampire and Burbank >> uh Death Row Game Show which I was surprised about. Uh, Curse of the Queer Wolf, which might be a stay tuned for the episode for the show.
>> That's a sequel to this, obviously.
>> Yeah, exactly. Um, and Nudest Colony of the Dead. So, >> that's the only one I've heard of, and I think they reference that in this movie.
I think Stacy says that a couple times.
>> I think she does say that when they're at the when they're at the convention.
>> Have you heard Nerd Colony of the Dead?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. That's why that's in there now. That's why I'm like, "Oh, I've heard of that one. That was in the [ __ ] movie, Sean." So, that's pretty much it. don't have there there's not much I can't tell you much about this movie because the the the [ __ ] [ __ ] just does not exist. We'd have to do a deep we'd have to go track all these people down and get interviews with them to really get what was going on which I'm totally for.
>> I was going to say you're you're working >> I'm looking at you John if you're listening or watching right now.
>> You're working with John on that RL Ryan documentary. Maybe that's the next project Joe. Put it Put it in John's here. I guess he just did right.
>> Yeah, actually this is the first episode where I can talk about that. Yeah, we're working on a just sidebar real quick.
We're working on a uh John John Campapiano and myself are working on a documentary about RL Ryan or Pat Ryan as you might know him or Bob Ryan as some people might know him.
>> We've talked about him on this show a couple times.
>> He's miss he's Mayor Belg Goody in um the Toxic Avenger. He is uh he's in classic Nukem High. He's in Eat and Run.
He's in he's uh Mr. Schneider and Street Trash. We talked about him very fondly.
Um and that name of that documentary that is coming out next year. We're trying to get it out for next year. It's called He Came from Ridley Park, the RL Ryan story. So, keep an eye out for that. There's a there's a lot of cool things. We've we've been chatting with some really cool people. It's been incredible so far.
>> I'm excited about it, and I'm all about I'm all about like let's keep taking these deep dives and and I would love to get into some kind of film restoration, distribution, special feature producing thing. So, hopefully this this kind of swings that way because we I've talked about that for years.

>> So, so that would be really cool. But with that being said, um, let's get into let's finally get to My Mom's a Werewolf. Uh, do you want to do the plot crunch? You want me to do it?
>> Uh, since you had such a a large history, I'm kind of curious to hear your crunch.
>> Okay. Yeah. Lonely housewife, Susan Blakeley.
>> She's lonely. All right, man.
>> Oh, she sure is. Um, she, uh, ends up going out one day because her husband is ignoring her. And in this process, she goes to a pet store to get some flea collars for their dog. And uh Maro, Bardau, Marble, I believe. I thought it was Marbor that the cigarettes.
>> Marbo.
>> Marbo or >> Marbo the dog?
>> I don't know. I thought Marble maybe because of the color of her fur, but Marbo, I I have no idea. She ends up becoming entangled with John Saxon, who happens to be a werewolf and wants her as his werewolf bride to bear his werewolf children to continue his race.
>> His were mate. his were wear mate with his were kids and his warehouse >> and yeah and his were fence.
>> Keep it going. Where's David? Uh what's this [ __ ] I forgot his name. The guy from talking heads. David burn. Where is he?
>> How did I get here?
>> Yeah, exactly.
>> Yeah.
>> This is not my beautiful werewolf.
>> Yeah, >> this is not my silver cross.
>> Seriously, get that the [ __ ] out of here.
>> And the days go by. Werewolves howling at the moon. Anyway, >> full moon in the sky. Can we keep this?

>> I mean, we could. Yeah, they're already goodbye. our views just tanked. Anyway, um >> Oh my god.
>> And that's about the size of it, actually. And and like and like her daughter is trying to figure out if she's cheating on her dad and like come to find out she's a werewolf and how do we stop mom from being a werewolf? You know, how do we save her?
>> She's basically actually the main character when you think about it. The daughter Jennifer.
>> Oh, 100%. Yeah.
>> I mean, the title of the movie, it's not I'm a werewolf, it's my mom is a werewolf. So, >> which they say multiple times towards the end they say it like four times.
>> This is definitely one of those drinking things. Every time you hear my mom's a werewolf TM, you got to [ __ ] take a shot when you watch this.
>> So, for like the first hour you're totally stone cold sober and then you get trash and then you just get [ __ ] trash.
>> You're like that neighbor.
>> It makes it makes the ending go down a lot better, right?
>> Um >> the neighbor line will be relevant later. Oh, yeah. There's a crazy neighbor.
>> So, we open up and we get introduced to Susan Blakeley. Um >> plays Leslie. Leslie Shraber, also known as Mom.
>> I call her mom or lesbian. I haven't decided yet.
>> The titular mom. Yeah. And uh she is a vegetarian. And she's It's like this whole intro where she's like bringing in these groceries and [ __ ] And she's a big She's like an oaf, you know? [ __ ] Tripping over the [ __ ] dog.
Yeah. Dog's got his head in the bag.
Classic typical dog or cat move.
>> Get out of the groceries. Um it's funny [ __ ] Like, you know, it's fine.
>> No one's helping her though, is the key point. visual storytelling.
>> Jennifer like goes inside and just like leaves her out there. She gets instantly on like the phone. Oh yeah, mom. Doors opens totally locked. Oh, by the way, dad's on the phone, mom. He's like, "Hey, how you doing? How's my little brand muffin?" And she's like, "You waiting for her big cucumber?" And you're like, "Oh, boy." Yeah. A little a lot of subtle uh sex jokes kind of peppered in here. Nothing too hard, but I was like, "Oh man, that slip under the sensors. Like a low budget [ __ ] movie." So, so a running gag through this movie is like mom's a vegetarian and she's always like making these like crazy like Betty Cocker conco concoctions that are like vegetarian based like I'm going to have uh spinach with cultured yak butter in on on a on a tostada or some [ __ ] >> Yeah. What was it? Some kind of seafood kiche kind of seafood kiche. Actually, it sounds pretty [ __ ] good. Like I I'm down for some yak butter kiche.
>> It sounded disgusting to me, but I'm glad you're going to have a good time.
I'll watch.
>> I I would at least taste it.
>> I would at least taste it. All right, that's fair.
>> But you know, she's also a werewolf, so like is there like hair and [ __ ] in there? Like that would [ __ ] me up. At this point, she's not. Otherwise, she'd be having some other [ __ ] in there.
Dropping some hair in my kiche.
>> Yeah, exactly. Um, but I love the gag, too. At first, you don't realize it's a gag, but as the movie goes on, you kind of realize it. Dad, dad, oh, I'm working late. But really, he just hates her [ __ ] cooking for 15 years. He's just I'm working late.
>> Sounds great, honey. Uh, sorry. I got to work late tonight. I got to hit the old Arby's drive-thru.
When he when he finally shows up, he's got the takeout bag, he like shoves it behind a pillow or something out of like eats it.

Speaking of which, I met John Saxon at that one. And I asked him about this [ __ ] movie. And I said, hey, John, do you know when My's a Werewolf is coming out? And he said, I have no idea. And that was it.

He's just like, "Oh yeah, you'll go to the store for me." She's like >> She goes to ask him a question. Me like and she like hand he like hands her the beer can.

Jennifer and Stacy are talking about like how Jennifer's parents' relationship is on the rocks and like her dad ignores her and like they're going to they're trying to think of a plan of like something to help help them get back together or like not be so estranged from each other. So, they come up with this brilliant plan to follow her mom downtown because every Saturday she goes shopping, she eats lunch at this one specific place and does all this [ __ ] Right.
>> It's a stalker. Yeah, that's our plan.
Well, well, the idea is to find out where she's gonna be >> and make sure she's at the restaurant because they're gonna buy her flowers and then say they're from her father, right? Give it to the Mater D or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. I also want to comment on Stacy. This is like literally I guess it was made in 1989. Sean, why what are you trying to say? Pulled out of the 80s. She's wearing a literal Blossom [ __ ] outfit. She looks like Blossom, >> dude. It was in It was in style.

But but like now that now that now that you mentioned it, like I it crossed my mind, but like maybe that is because if we're incorporating some of that vampire lore and kind of mixing it up like a cocktail with the werewolf, like maybe he can turn into like a smaller shape-shifting.

>> But he turns back and the tail's hanging out. He like chews it up. And I also I also remember that scene specifically cuz John Saxin freaked me out as a kid when I saw this movie.

I'm joking about the daughter and her friend, but that is legitimate stalking. I guess he was just smelling her and just Oh, there's her scent. And there's a there's a Oh my god, he's smelling something, right?

And his face changes to like some disgusting thing. She's like, "Ah, yeah." But she wakes up and Howard is sitting next to his bed and she's like, "Oh, I'm having a nightmare." And he's like, "You're having a nightmare, huh?"
And uh she's like, "Wait, I'm having a nightmare." Ah, his face >> and then he turns into the monster.

>> And like from now on she thinks she's having a nightmare the whole time cuz she wakes up and she looks in the mirror and her she's got [ __ ] fangs and there's and her ears are growing now.

>> It's kind of cool. And like Jennifer looks through the keyhole of the bathroom and sees her covered in hair and her like shaving off. She's like, "Oh my god, >> my mom's a werewolf, too."
>> Yeah. I mean, I wish we got a full transformation. I guess spoilers, I'll just say it now. We don't. But I do like at least we get the the wolf man kind of the dissolve effect. It's like, well, they're at least doing a homage. Yeah.
It doesn't look amazing, but you know what it is.
>> It's not that kind of movie.
>> No. You know what I mean? That's a werewolf movie. I have to at least bring it on.
>> Yeah. So, everybody leaves and um you get a you get a quick shot of somebody wearing the Rocktober Blood mask right on the way out there, which I kind of like.
>> And she's like, "Mom, what the [ __ ] wrong with you? You look like Grizzly Adams."
>> Grizzly Adams did have a beard. Grizzly Adams did have hairy legs. Not true.
>> Dan Hagerty comes out of, "Hey, hey guys, I'm looking for an elf. I don't know. Did you come this way?" He just comes out of a smoke cloud. We haven't brought that up in a while. And then he just like goes back. I know. Okay.
Werewolves. So, not my not my rodeo. You know, I did I did read about werewolves in that book, but I'm after some Nazi elves. I'll be I'll see you later. Just we could have used your help. All right.
Yeah. So, uh so dad's still out golfing, I guess, at at midnight because, uh John Saxon shows up at the door. Is your mother home? And she's like, "Ah, Dennis." And she's like, "Yeah, I'm going to call the cops." And he just goes brim. And she's like, "Come on in.
She's upstairs."
>> Yeah. He just hypnotizes her and that's all it takes. And he walks in. So, this is a little strange, too, because like he goes upstairs, he like plot dumps to Leslie.
>> Well, they realize they had about a half hour run time left. So, they're like, "Shit, we can't end it here." Even though it makes sense. He like plot dumps to Leslie about what happened to her. She's like, "That didn't happen."
He's like, "You're going to remember eventually, but for now, you're going to forget cuz your your husband's home, but I'll be back." Cuz he's like he's like, "You're going to be my werewife and we're going to have kids and we're going to live in a warehouse." Yeah, that joke we did earlier. Yeah, that it's pretty good [ __ ] But I love this shot of John Saxon jumping out the [ __ ] window and then like running away through the lawn and dad's walking up. He's like, "Oh, honey, I got flowers." And he like goes to put his jacket up on a hook that doesn't exist.
>> Just keeps walking. I love when he comes up and she's like smashing all of the lights >> so we can't see her.
>> So he can't see her because she's like covered in hair and she's got fangs and ears and [ __ ] >> And uh she's like throws the blankets over. He's like, "Hey, I want some more of that that hot animal sex we had." And he's like feeling up her leg and he's like Marbo. He's like get out of the bed Marbo. Yeah. I couldn't help but think of Hellraiser in this scene cuz I thought of the Uncle Frank part where he's like cutting the [ __ ] rat to intimidate uh what's her face and he's like you're hot one MINUTE YOU'RE COLD THE NEXT. I don't know what the [ __ ] you want. But it doesn't quite go there. The next morning dad wakes up and he's actually kind of into the hot and cold cuz it's been so nothing for so long.
>> He's like he's like you you sex me up.
You make me food and then you freeze me out. He's like, "Man, you know how to drive a guy wild."
>> He's literally like Scrooge after the ghost visit him. He's like dancing. He's like, "I'M KIDDING. HE'S A SCHOOL BOY."
>> 100%. He's going to get that goose.
Excited, man.
>> So, Jennifer goes to Stacy's house and Stacy's like on the phone with Ralph and she like takes the phone and like hangs it up. She's like, "I was on the phone with Ralph. What the fuck?"
>> She's like, "No, this is more important.
My mom is a werewolf."
>> TM. Yeah.
>> And she's like, "So what? My mom's a cow. You You made me hang up on Ralph for this." I go, "What the fuck?" And meanwhile, Ralph hung up on his own. She just thinks that's the case because she tries calling his ass back and it's like the second he hears her voice, he hangs up again. So Jennifer, I think we got disconnected. So Jennifer, of course, is like, "Well, you got all this horror [ __ ] Like, how do I stop my mom? She's a werewolf." She's like, "You shoot her with a silver bullet." She's like, "I can't shoot my mom." She's my mom. I do love the visual gag, too. Again, that Blossom hat, that big hat resting on a Freddy Krueger sculpture just on top of Freddy's head. I was like on the second viewing, I was like, "Holy [ __ ] that's funny." Yeah, it's good [ __ ] >> Stacy kind of doesn't believe her. So, she's like, "Oh," she's wandering the streets and she has that epiphany that she has Ruth Buzzy's [ __ ] card cuz she's kind of playing the events back in her head. There's a lot of like replayed voice over from throughout the film and she's like, "Oh yeah, Madam Gypsy."
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Cuz she's like walking around and it's like it's like >> a Rocky 3 scene or something. Rocky four.
>> She's all sad and [ __ ] like walking the streets and then pulls out the the gypsy cart.
>> He throws the [ __ ] motorcycle helmet at the statue. Exactly.
>> It's [ __ ] great. Yeah. Ruth Buzzy's there and she opens the door. She's like, "My mom's a werewolf, TM." And she goes, "Kill her." And then slams the door in her face. I swear to God, I said to Joe earlier, they had to have done this scene in one take. Ruth Buzzy wasn't having it. She's like, "You get one out of me this time, folks."
>> But like also, Ruth Buzzy reopens the door and she's like, "Come on in. We we'll figure this out." But then like she doesn't figure anything out with Ruth Buzz.
>> Basically gives her the same information Stacy Goria, page 39, issue. get across in holy water and garlic. Even though that's vampires.
>> Yeah, she's supposed to be like the Peter Vincent character for lack of a better example.
>> That doesn't like do it.
>> She's barely in it. Again, she probably was only available for a couple days, so use her where you can.
>> So, she goes back home and she's like, "Oh, mom, I don't know what we're going to do." And then she looks at her and she's like, "Normal." She's like, "Oh my god, mom, you changed back, but but don't leave the house cuz you're going to change back into a werewolf at any time."
>> Or she was at Ruth Buzzy's all night.
It's like the next day she goes there with Stacy. [ __ ] we got to stop her.
She got her hair appointment at 2.
>> So, she goes to do her hair appointment.
She's like, "Fuck you. I'm the mom. I'm going to get my hair done."
>> 100% in the right. Yeah, I've been there. No, I'm the one in charge. What the [ __ ] are you? What are you telling me? I'm the adult.
>> What?
>> We're going to keep that stalking theme going. We got to follow her. I mean, they're kind of right. So, she goes to get her hair done and she starts transforming again and [ __ ] Marcia Wallace is there. I love this woman.

Yeah. So, she like does her all up and they they give her a pedicure and and a perm and [ __ ] and she's like, "Look at it. Aren't you beautiful? It's Wolverine chic." Her face is all the hair. She's like, "Oh my god."
>> It looks pretty good all things considered, though. Runs out without paying.
>> Runs out without paying. We cut the John Saxon and he's like getting ready for the night. He's like eating dog food out of a can. He's listening to that Red Riding Hood song. They had to get their money's worth. He's like Mr. Claw Kinsky and Problem Child 2 eating the [ __ ] child putting putting his [ __ ] cologne on.
>> You know, he's getting all sexy for Leslie again. Phil Fonda's in there watching saying, "Looking good, sir."
That Toro is in there like, "Yeah, it looks good.
>> He's got that finger ringing."
>> So, the girls get back to the house and shortly after that, John Saxon shows up ready to take Leslie as his wear as his wear wife.
>> And they're like, "Oh, they run like a gamut of tests on him. They're like they like shove a cross in his face and he like takes the cross and like throws it away.
>> When he first shows up though, I love the visual gag. Again, I I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but this movie gets extra points just for so many great visual gags. Uh which we talk about that on the show a lot, but this one really kind of goes out of its way for some really good ones. Him behind them while they're discussing as watching with this [ __ ] spotlight on him.
>> Unbelievable. Oh, it's Dennis. He's back. He eats the garlic.
>> Oh yeah. She's like, "Give him the garlic." And I also that's like >> call it out that's for vampires. Well, he's Dracula basically.
>> That's also like a core memory for me like hearing >> poop the the voice over of Stacy go from the garlic.
>> Like that stuck out to >> you. So he takes the garlic and like just bites into it and chewing it up. He like takes the holy water and he like puts it on like half drinks it a little.
Yeah. So they he passes all the tests and then he like hypnotizes them both and then goes into the house. I >> for whatever reason it only works on Jennifer and she's like wait what what happened? And she's like, "That's him.
He's the guy." And she's like, "Wait, that's the guy you just let him in."
She's like, "That's him." This is just like mesmerizers of the fuzz people.
>> And then it cuts the mom already fully transformed in her night gown like wrecking. I get full Larry Talbit style going crazy destroying everything.
>> John Jackson's like, "Oh, you changed without me. How's it going, Leslie? I've come to claim you as my bride."
>> And I love that they both look a little different. They do kind of like some werewolf movies actually have done this before where it's like based on their hair color or skin color. She's kind of white fur. He ends up being more of a >> It's also like a brunette.
>> It's like a yin-yang good evil kind of thing, too. And he's like, "Our children will be beautiful." And then he turns into a [ __ ] werewolf.
>> That's the mirror breaks and he's like transformed already. It was a great way to do it.
>> I love that. And it's scary.
>> Yeah. Yeah. So Stacy's like, "That's it.
That's the answer. We got to kill the main werewolf. He turned your mom. So if we kill him, she'll change back."
>> Okay. And they finally watch the [ __ ] wolf man. She's been cosplaying as a character from it. They met a character cosplaying from it. And they finally decided to watch the [ __ ] up.
>> But they have to kill Harry before >> before midnight.
>> The No, before the moon sets.
>> The moon sets, right? Midnight would be too easy and specific. That was midnight hour.
>> The garage door opens and Jennifer comes out in her [ __ ] earnest scared stupid armor.
>> Oh, I love it. Well, Princess Vacation also did this and one of the Jason's had to have. That's what has also got to be pulling from a It's a classic shot that so many movies have done. Spotlight behind people.
>> Oh, yeah. Sure. But like it's very much like Ernest from Scared Ernest Scared Stupid cuz she's got like a football helmet on and like a chest protector and like >> her holy warrior outfit and like a stick with like a [ __ ] uh you know silver fork on the end.

>> They're trashing the room and John Shuck opens the door and turns [ __ ] white.
>> Oh, what a great effect.
>> And he looks like Herman Monster there.
>> He does. I think that was what really put it over the top.

I need to use the bathroom. So, they're like still fighting in the in the room and [ __ ] And it cuts over to like the next door neighbor who we've seen a couple times. He's a real creep as always.

>> Oh my goodness. He is a that guy. I I swear to God I thought this guy was on Sopranos but a totally different actor.
The guy who plays Veto. They look like it could again. Maybe Cousins or Brothers. I don't know.

>> He's like, "What the [ __ ] going on over there? Keep it down. There's people trying to enjoy themselves." And a shoe comes flying from across. Whacks him in the head. And he's like, "Get that shoe.
I got to sniff that shoe." Okay. Yeah.
Right before the cops arrive, he they come back to him and now he's got binoculars watching and this time the percolator goes flying and that just smashes the the the binoculars into his eyes and he can't take them out. They're like stuck in there.
>> Stuck in his [ __ ] face.
>> It's like Butterball.
>> And he's kind of Yeah. He's like, "Oh, now go the cops." He's he's looking across the way and he's like, "They're in gorilla costumes and they're having an orgy." So then the cops arrive and this is literally right out of Nightmare and Elm Street for Christ's sake. They're probably asking John's asking, "Okay, was the camera here? Was the fire truck here?" "Uh yeah, I don't know why I You're asking me. I was just in the movie."
>> The cops come in and he's like, and John Shucks like there's two werewolves having a pillow fight in my room. And the guy runs up. He's like, "You're wearing gorillo costumes. I'm the one that called. I'm the neighbor." And he's like, "This isn't how good Christian should be acting with the [ __ ] dog collar on collar and the leash and the dominatrix and everything." And the cops so on the nose. It's like all right, that was a bit much. We're like, yeah, you know those donuts, man. You ate the donuts and you dropped the donuts. If you bought the donuts, you'd be angry about them getting dropped.
>> I actually like it cuz he's like he's like, "There was one [ __ ] jelly left and I dropped the jelly on the you you dropped it. Now you're buying them next time."
>> That was maybe one gag too many. I'm like it was funny, but >> it's such a passing thing as they go in.
>> It's It's one nitpick that I have.
>> So Jennifer goes in and she gets stuck in the room, right? because she go she actually successfully stabs Larry in the chest with the fork. There had to be at least 1% silver in there, right? It worked. So, but it takes him like forever to die from it. Barely get in.
>> So, he like falls in front of the door to get in. So, the cops and everybody are trying to kick the [ __ ] door open and there's werewolf dying in front of it and they can't get in. Meanwhile, Jennifer's like trying to dodge her mom who's fully transformed. Thank god she didn't scratch her or bite her. Yeah.
Well, she grabs Jennifer like by the face and she's holding her by the head and the cops the uh Larry finally [ __ ] dies and the cops come in. He's not dead yet. They break in and they have to watch him die. He's not dead yet. I'm not dead. I'm feeling better.
>> Yeah. And then he's >> He hasn't transformed back in John Saxon, though.
>> And he had already they that was not in the costume. He was done.
>> His contract was up. He's like, I had a budget ran out for John Sax. It's He's not transforming.
>> That's That's Joe Schmo who didn't get a title in the [ __ ] credits. Yeah. So Leslie changes back >> and you think she's going to rip Jennifer's head off, but she doesn't.
She >> more Wolf Man [ __ ] dissolving into a regular face, >> which isn't great.

>> I just did something for James Rolf in the same thing. Since we're talking about Monster Madness, >> I got the shirt on. I was in case you get the joke. That was the bad joke that I was going Monster Madness. That's his thing he does on cinematic.

>> But there is a great moment, too, cuz throughout the film, John Saxon keeps saying to her to try to even though she doesn't remember any of this, she keeps saying, "Your husband won't accept you.
Your family won't accept you. you're a werewolf.
>> You're alone. They don't they don't they don't like our kind. They're not going to accept you.
>> And the cops go, "This is your wife."
before she turns back to normal. And he's like, "Yeah, you know what? She is.
You got to get to know her." So, it's also they don't really do anything with it, but I think it's like an implied like, "Oh, they do care."
>> Yeah.
>> It's nice. It's just a good >> addition touch to it all. And uh yeah, like we just said, she doesn't remember any of it.
>> Unfortunately, someone uh would be blamed for all this murder if the cops didn't literally see the transformation.
So, thank god they broke in. Uh cuz some other movies that we do, I'm like, "Well, there's no nobody to see what happened. You're just going to jail."
>> I don't think they're going to jail because he doesn't turn back. He's a werewolf for the rest. There's a werewolf for the rest of the movie. And like there's been killings by an animal.
Like, here it is.

>> Yeah. I mean, she's always that girling around because she's, you know, >> Leprechaun 2. She's Clint Howard's uh wife.
>> Um she's in the Willies. She's like, she's doing the ride thing >> famously from Twin Peak. She was the receptionist.
>> And uh Don't Tell Mom the babysitter's dead.
>> Oh, yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Uh I love this uh the reporter though.
Uh, I forget what her name was, but she was pretty funny how she's just kind of like all about herself. She's like asked him about this like amazing discovery about a werewolf. She's like, "OH, WELL, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS, HOWARD?" And he starts to talk. She's like, "Oh, isn't this incredible?"
>> That's a good gag. And she's like She's like, "Jesus, you know, I'm trying to do this report and they just would not shut up." Cuz their whole plan is to tell the whole world, "Fuck it. It's a werewolf.
>> We got to explo expose them."
>> Yeah. Well, thank god they didn't cuz Umbrella would have been in there with the machine guns. Uh, so maybe it's good that this maybe the reporter worked for Umbrella. That's the secretary. Jerry Stiller and Anne Mirror are in their house watching this on TV LIKE, "FUCK, THEY'RE GONNA THEY'RE GONNA RAT US OUT.
THEY'RE GONNA COME KILL US."
>> RIGHT. Step monster. Exactly.
>> No, one wolf's family monsters.
>> Well, that one's also involved. We talked about it earlier. Everyone's kind of [ __ ] The cops news are in town.
>> Well, it's different because we're not sure if it was the, you know, these these joggers were killed by a trapkin or they were killed by a werewolf. We're not sure.
>> That's fair. They're all going to blame the werewolf, though. Brian James is over the moon. He's like, I got to keep going with this deal.
>> Well, his ass is already [ __ ] dead.
>> Well, again, timeline's kind of uh up in the air. It could take place after, right? He's excited about it either way.
Sure.
>> Or or he's dead. Either way, somebody's excited.
>> I do love turning old women into werewolves >> or or mom just blew up in the kitchen. I don't know. Again. Uh but yeah, so that's basically the end of the movie.
Uh Stacy still pining after Ralph. Ain't it ever happened?
>> I love when they're doing the report and she runs out and she goes Stacy Pooa, Stacy Pooa. It's I That got a good laugh out of me, too.
>> Uh and then you think the movie's going to end, but they have like a final scene with them back in bed. mom and dad.
>> Well, well, Ruth Buzzy comes back. Oh, god. How could I forget?
>> And she's got she's got like a giant crystal ball in her [ __ ] like Corvette or whatever she's driving and she's like throwing out her like business cards to people. She's like, "I predicted the Volf. Come. It's only $30 and I'll tell you your future." Yeah.
The price again, like we said earlier, keeps going up higher and higher. And then we see mom and dad in bed later that night.
>> He's like apologizing to her.
>> Jennifer from the other room for being an [ __ ] He's like, "Hey, hey."
>> He's Yeah. He's like, "Yeah, I was being an asshole." He's like, "Lely, I'm sorry I would I haven't been paying enough attention to you and I haven't been home and blah blah blah and for being an asshole."
>> And then it kind of ended.
>> Go to bed, Jennifer.
>> Yeah, go to bed. No more football on the weekend. Just you. She's like, "Oh, thank you." He's like, "Maybe Super Bowl."
>> Maybe the Super Bowl.
>> Maybe Orange Bowl. Maybe when you're not around.

Uh, apparently if you kill the werewolf, but you don't burn it or some [ __ ] >> Unless a formal exorcism is performed on the body of the werewolf, whoever killed the werewolf will become a werewolf, >> which John Saxon knew about because that dog pissed on Freddy Krueger's bones and it came back. But >> he's dead. So they couldn't he couldn't tell them.
>> He knew that. Well, that's what happened. That's how he became a werewolf. They thought he was dead, but he was really a werewolf.
>> Yeah, because you thought you thought he was dead. You thought Freddy killed his ass.
>> Freddy's skeleton.
>> Yeah, you thought he was. But turns out some of that skeleton must have been a werewolf like from the movie Werewolf with Joe Evez. Cuts John Saxon, goes to the morg, doesn't die, comes back and now he's a werewolf.
>> Except now he's killed by a mighty silver fork.
>> It's kind of poetic. You think you four prongs of Freddy going into you and then a fourp prong [ __ ] fork going in your chest.
>> You stabbed it right in the front. Oh, and that's what it was. It was actually Freddy that killed her.

>> He got sucked back into hell. Soul taken. He's back in that pepperoni pizza with Lydia Quigley.

>> Well, Jennifer ends up getting cured and then they move to uh another street. No, they moved to the place where the poltergeist house was and then they get encounter an alien and go to McDonald's.

Set up just I get nervous sometimes when it's a little slow in the beginning, especially low budget. But I just had to be patient.
And then on the rewatch, it didn't even bother me at all. So, I think I was just getting I wanted to get to the next. I want to see what was going to happen.
>> Your anticipation was getting the better of you. Yeah.
>> And I wasn't disappointed, so that helped.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Uh, great characters. The acting is pretty solid. Again, it's lowbudget, so I feel like I bring that up every time, but it's kind of hit or miss. Everyone in here is very good. Dad might be the weakest, but he's so funny. You just kind of ignore some of his weaker line deliveries. And I I'm joking about that one scene with Ruth Buzzy. It's just it's the single shot that goes on for a minute. I don't know. Maybe they just wanted a single shot scene. Sure. That's the only one that really that and John Saxin and the Nightmare are like their only two standout bad shots, right? The rest is really well done. Uh great cinematography. The effects are pretty damn good. Uh the werewolves look great.
>> I don't know. John Saxon's creepy as hell. They give enough excuses for why things happen. Again, this is a little bit of a satire, so you buy into it a little more.
>> Uh you don't let things kind of get to you as much with semantics. You're like, "Ah, yeah, pet store, sure. Flea collar.
Okay. Yeah, it adds up enough.
>> Yeah. Where there's a through line where you're like, "All right, sure."
>> Which sometimes you're watching a movie and you're like, "All right, it doesn't matter, but what the [ __ ] How did he get from here to here?"
>> Yeah. No, 100%.
>> But here they do enough uh connecting the dots that you always kind of have a carrot leading you to the next gag and all those visual gags, the the the oneliners, mom just oh in a in a fish out of water story from beginning to [ __ ] end. Add a werewolf to the whole thing. They nailed it. Uh very well done.
>> So good. I'm not think I'm going to sit here and say uh it was a fivestar film.
>> No, of course I don't think we have many of those on this show.
>> No, but I I enjoyed the hell of that out of it and I would definitely rewatch it.
[ __ ] I watched it twice for the show.
Part partly to remember it a little better, but also just because I did enjoy it quite a bit. So, if that DVD eventually drops, I mean, they still do drop DVDs occasionally. I'll take a Blu-ray, of course.
>> I mean, it needs to be Blu-ray 4K.
>> Yeah, I'll be picking it up if it's ever available.
>> I don't I don't want any of fans or butts. Like if you're going to do it, do do it for [ __ ] 4K. Yeah, for sure. Um Yeah, man. This is on the shelf for me.
Of course it is. It's been It's been there.
>> Pulled it off.
>> I pulled it off of it for the for the episode. Um Yeah. I mean, so of course I have nostalgia baked in for this as it from being a kid.
>> It's hard not to when you've seen it at that young age and you've been thinking about it for a long time.
>> So it also means a lot to me because like it again like I was saying earlier in the episode, it's like one of those things where you know I used to watch this a lot with my mom. It was on TV a lot. So, I have like a very solid memory of it as a kid. Um, and it makes me feel good. I mean, if you watch the show, you know that that I like to go back to things that make me feel good and have that nostalgia hit for me. But I, you know, I always I always like to give it a fair shake um when we come back to it and be like, "Hey, you know, does this hold up?
Does it still like work?" And it does.
And going over it with like a fine tooth comb, I think it works really well, especially for what it pulls off. Like it's a it's a it's I don't know any other comedy werewolf movie.
>> I'm sure they exist, but like this one nails the concept.
>> I I mean >> there's not many of them either way.
>> Teen Wolf maybe.
>> American uh in Paris. American Werewolf in Paris too.
>> [ __ ] that movie.
>> Whatever the [ __ ] it was called.
>> [ __ ] that movie. But like the only one I can really think of is like Teen Wolf.
>> Teen Wolf would be the other one maybe.
>> But that's definitely not hard. That's a straight comedy.
>> That's straight comedy. That's more serious.
>> Yeah. This like this actually tries to do a little bit of the horror. Like I think John Saxon's presence is pretty uh creepy and he's never goofy.
>> John Saxon's never it's not his fault.
>> It's not intentional, right?
>> Um even when he even when they're doing the test and [ __ ] he's so [ __ ] creepy. Like even when he's eating the garlic and [ __ ] and like his weird back room with a monkey in a cage, like it's just weird.
>> Yeah. Uh yeah, there's a lot of there's a lot of crazy uh sequences to this film that don't necessarily feel like they should be there, but also work pretty well. And >> that's what's so weird about this movie.
You're right. In a good way.
>> That's why I also noted the score before, too, because it's actually pretty good. And it works >> to the advantage of the scenes to make them less hokey.
>> And the editing helps, too. Editing is very good in this.
>> Now, um snappy.
>> Now, I really do love this. Again, like Sean said, it's not a fivestar film by any means. I I mean if you're a fan of this kind of stuff I think you'll enjoy it for sure.
>> I mean you might rank it because it's like maybe not you personally but the general you it's like oh it checks a lot of boxes. So yeah I mean if you watch this show and you're familiar with our tastes and our rankings of things then you'll know where this lands when I say that if you're like me or even Sean in this case you're going to you're going to have a good time. You're going to have a good time. It's going to be fun.
The one thing I will say we didn't really talk about too much when it came up but like the werewolf costumes they're not like they're like masks.
They still look good though.
>> I mean, they're fun. They're They're fun, but they're not like the best werewolves ever.
>> Yeah. I mean, it's not Mad Moon or American Werewolf and London. The good one this time.
>> But again, it's not that kind of movie.
Not at all.
>> Which it gives it the pass. Yeah.
>> That's why I'm like kind of taking the piss out of it a little by saying no transformation. It's just it's a werewolf movie that you go into it no matter what kind of movie it is, you want to see it. But yeah, you don't need it in this. It's just It would have been cool, but what the [ __ ] would that I probably would have complained about it, honestly. Why does this look like [ __ ] Ruin the movie. Well, what it it also because they incorporate the stuff with like the the the horror fan and the horror convention stuff, it has that uh sheen of like classic monster movie on it. So, like you get away with stuff like >> not only not only being a comedy movie, but the stuff like the the dissolves for the hair coming back. Oh, yeah.
>> And like not having this extravagant werewolf at the reveal at the end.
They're just, you know, they're just okay. which was kind of like uh which you know I didn't like as much but Midnight Hour tried to do that and even u Monster in the Closet were kind of aiming for a similar kind of tone.
>> Yeah, Monster Closet has like that atomic age kind of feel to it and >> satirical but it's still taking the material. It's satirizing seriously but it's a comedy.
>> It's almost like it's almost like an an homage.
>> Homage is probably the more accurate term. You know what I mean? So, it's it's kind of this mishmash. It's comedy forward for sure, but it's like a mishmash comedy horror uh with with with like a classic monster kind of sheen on it. And you get, like we were saying before, you get a little bit of Dracula, you get a little bit of Wolfman and kind of this hodge podge, but it works really well. And then John Saxon's at the center of it as the bad guy.
>> Him playing that character is perfect.
>> Yeah, everybody's really funny and and I can't stress how much I love Stacey Poo.
She's the best. I I wish I was in more >> I wish he was like a real person that I could hang out with like the character.
>> Oh, the character, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the actors also could have gotten more work, but yeah, the character.
