A compelling movie trailer can serve as a gateway to discovering entirely new filmmakers and their filmography, as demonstrated by how the teaser for 'HOPE' (2026) by director Na Hong-jin prompted the creator to explore his previous works like The Wailing, The Yellow Sea, and The Chaser, despite having no prior knowledge of these films.

“HOPE” 2026 This Is How You Trailer A Movie!Added:
Hey everybody, this is TJR.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I just watched one of the best movie teasers that I have seen in quite a while.
So, I was scrolling on YouTube when I saw this thumbnail image with the title hope official teaser in theaters fall 2026.
The still frame image on the thumbnail was kind of blurred and obscured by the giant capital letters of the film's titles across the screen.
I had absolutely no idea what this was, but I clicked on it anyway.
And for the less than 2 minutes of run time, I was absolutely gobsmacked by what I saw.
Afterwards, I immediately thought to myself, this is how you trailer a damn movie.
And I also started thinking about the teaser's inner titles from Na Hong Jin. Hopefully I said that right. director of the whailing, the LOC, and the chaser. And my immediate reaction was, I don't know who this is. And what's more, I don't recognize any of these movie titles.
Then almost immediately after that, I think to myself that I am going to try and watch all three of these films before this movie hits theaters this fall.
Now over the last couple years I have been trying to expand my taste in international cinema and that journey has included modern directors like Wong Car and historical filmmakers like Ingmar Bergman. So I'm honestly kind of shocked that this teaser trailer is the first time I've ever heard of Na Hong Jeene. But honestly, moments like this are what have made this journey so exciting for me. The fact that sometimes one great trailer can suddenly open up an entirely new world of cinema for me. Now, normally I'm the kind of person who needs to be sold on a film's premise before I commit time to watching it. I don't know a damn thing about The Whailing, The LOC, or The Chaser.
I have zero idea what any of them are even about, but after seeing this teaser, I already know I'm going to make time to watch all three.
Anyway, I really wanted to just jump on here and talk about this because it genuinely reminded me how exciting discovering a new filmmaker can still be. So, let me know down in the comments. Have you seen this teaser for Hope yet? And if you're already familiar with Nah Hung Jean's work without spoiling anything, what should I know going into these films? And do you want me to talk about his previous films after I watch them?
Because right now, I feel like I may have just discovered an entirely new filmmaker to dive into. Thanks so much for watching. If you liked this video, please click like.
