Jesus declared 'I am the light of the world' (John 8:12), but also taught that 'You are the light of the world' (Matthew 5:14), meaning believers are called to shine as light carriers who transform darkness through their lives, prayer, and witness, rather than blending in with cultural darkness.

Good morning, Essential Church. It is so just sweet to see you guys this morning.
I feel so honored just to be able to uh worship with you guys. I know the Lord um just loves to hear our song to him.
He loves to hear us worship him. And so I just want to invite you to just like forget about what the week might have brought you and and just focus on King Jesus. I invite you to stand and just know like the front is open if you want to come and worship him up here. Um but yeah, Lord, we just love you so much. Lord, I thank you for every heart and soul in this room. I thank you that you know them by name. I thank you that you love them and you see them. And I thank you that you have purchased them at a high cost. And I thank you that because of that, we now get to live in just this resurrection life with you.
And so we worship you, King Jesus, right now from that place of resurrection life. Like we get to worship the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega. So we look at you right now, King Jesus, and we worship you. We love you, Lord.
We enter into your throne room right now.
We love you, Lord.
And we just are going to sing about your goodness because you're so good. You're so faithful.
We love you, Lord.
I love you, Lord.
Oh, your mercy never failed me.
And all my days I've been held in your hands. From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
And all my life you have been faithful.
Thank you, Lord.
And all my life you have been so so good.
With every breath that I am able.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
I love your voice.
You have led me through the fire.
In darkest night, you were close like no other.
I've known you as my father.
I've known you as my friend.
Oh, I have lived. Yes. In the goodness of God. Oh, I have lived.
Oh, I have lived in the goodness of God.
We get to live here. Oh, I have lived in the goodness of God.
And we sing.
And all my life you have been faithful.
And all my life you have been so so good.
With every breath that I am able.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
Your goodness is running after. It's running after me.
Your goodness is running after. It's running after me. With my life laid down, I surrender now. I give you everything cuz your goodness is running after. It's running after me. Your goodness.
Your goodness is running after. It's running after me. Yes, it is. Your goodness is running after. It's running after me. With my life laid down, I surrender now. I give you everything cuz your goodness is running after. It's running after me.
Cuz all my life you have been faithful.
And all my life you have been so so good.
With every breath that I am able.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God. No matter where I am, Lord. Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God in sickness and in health, Lord.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God when I feel like it and when I don't.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
Every day of my life, Lord, oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
We love you, Lord.
We love you, King Jesus.
This next song that we're going to sing is about what he did for us. It's about the beautiful cross. And so, I just want you to in your mind think about what he has what he has saved you from, what he has delivered you from, all the ways that he's come into your life and been savior and friend and faithful father.
So, we're going to sing about his cross.
And I just encourage you to to remember what he's done for you.
You carried the cross upon your back, bleeding until your final breath. Tears of blood, a crown of thorns. You gave it all. Our sins you bore. You carried the cross upon your back, bleeding until your final breath. Tears of blood.
Thorns you gave it all. Our sins you bore. Oh.
Oh, there is no greater love and know.
Oh, there is no greater love.
Oh, the cross.
What you've done, it was more than enough.
more than enough. Oh, the cross.
What you've done, the power of your blood was more than enough.
The sacriice that changed history, the nails in your hands, that hands that saved me. The grave was sealed. Death lost its sting as a lion roared in victory.
The sacriice that changed history.
The nails in your hands. The hand that saved me. The grave was sealed and death lost its sting. as a lion roar in victory.
Oh, the cross what he done. Oh, it was more than enough.
More than enough. Oh, the cross.
What you have done, the power of your blood was more than enough. Oh, the cross.
What you've done, it was more than enough.
More than enough. Oh, the cross.
What you've done, the power of your blood was more than enough.
Oh, we thank you right now, Lord. We thank you.
So we sing thank you for breaking the bread of your body and spilling the wine of your blood.
So I thank you and my heart will sing forever. Let's sing that again. So, thank you for breaking the bread of your body and spilling the wine of your blood.
Oh, thank you. And my heart will sing forever. Sing that again. Oh, thank you for breaking the bread of your body.
spilling the wine of your blood.
Oh, thank you. And my heart will sing.
Oh, the cross, what you've done.
It was more than enough.
More than enough. Oh, the cross.
What you've done.
Oh, the power of your blood was more than enough. Oh, the cross, what you've done, it was more than enough, more than enough. Oh, the cross, what you've done, the power of your blood was more than enough. So I thank you for breaking the bread of your body and spilling the wine of your perfect blood.
Thank you. Oh my heart will sing forever.
Before I spoke a word, you were singing over us.
You have been so so good to me before I took a breath.
You breathe your life.
You have You have been so so kind to me. me and all the overwhelming neverending reckless love of God and oh it chases me down fights till I'm found leaves the night and I couldn't earn it and I don't deserve it still you Give yourself away.
Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God.
Oh, when I was your foe. steal your love for me. Wow, what a love is that?
You have been so so good to me.
When I felt no worth, you paid it all for me.
Let's sing that line again. Let that sink in.
When I felt no worth, you paid it all for me. This is the kind of love.
When I felt no worth, you paid it all for me. And you I've been Oh, and you have been so so kind to me.
And oh the overwhelming neverending reckless love of our God. Oh it chases me down. Fights till I'm found. Leaves the 99.
I could earn it and I don't deserve it.
You still give yourself away and all the overwhelming neverending reckless love of God.
Oh.
There's no shadow you won't light up mountain you won't climb up.
There's no wall you won't kick down. Lie you won't tear down me.

Oh, there's no shadow you won't light up.
Mountain you won't climb up. Coming after me always. There's no wall you won't kick down. Why you won't tear down coming after me and all the overwhelming neverending reckless love of our God.
Oh, it chases us down. Fights till we're found. Leaves the 99.
And I could earn it. I don't deserve it.
Still you give yourself away.
And oh the overwhelming neverending reckless love of God. And oh the overwhelming neverending reckless love of God.
Lord, we love you and we just spent the last 20 minutes singing about your love for us and worshiping you. But I thank you that worship is a posture in which we live our life. So I thank you that even though worship is ending right now, it's a song and it's a mindset and it's a posture that we get to live our whole life in. And so we thank you, God, that we have moments where we get we're always with you and you're always with us, but when we get to minister to you.
And so we love you. We love that we get to pour our hearts on your on you because you're worthy. You're a worthy worthy king. Holy, holy king.
Oh, we love you, King Jesus. We love you, Father. We love you, Holy Spirit.
We thank you for the message that you have for us right now. I thank you, Lord God, for Pastor Jay. I bless him in Jesus name. I thank you that he is a mouthpiece for your kingdom. And I thank you that he hears from you. So, I thank you that he's going to hear what you're saying and he's going to speak it out to us. And so, Lord, we invite you into this place.
And we're so excited to read your word, which is you. And so, we bless you, Lord God. And we thank you for what you have for us today in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
Amen.
>> All right. Amen. Amen.
Glory be to God. Good to have every one of you with us this morning. Um, it's good to be in the house of the Lord. Do I hear an echo?
Is there an echo on here? There is. Huh?
I wonder what that is. Um, all right. Well, this morning, um, I didn't make any changes on that board, by the way. Um, good morning everybody and welcome to Essential Church. Uh, happy Mother's Day.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers that are here in the house and and those of you that are uh, mothers online. We welcome you uh to this wonderful day.
Happy Mother's Day. Um, and you know, uh, I want to just, uh, say a few words here because I want to honor, uh, the women who carry love, strength, wisdom, sacrifice, and prayer into their homes every single day. And a mother is is is more than just someone who just gives birth to a child. Uh, you know, any any woman can give birth to a child. Uh but a mother is a nurturer. Uh she's a protector. She is a teacher, a comforter, and many times in the spiritual uh the backbone of the family. Uh you know the Bible says in Proverbs 31:28 it says her children rise up and called her blessed.
And so today we rise up and call mothers blessed.
And so we thank God for the mothers who prayed when nobody else prayed. You know, it's like uh sometimes there's a really miserable kid in the family and nobody wants to even mess with them and they won't even look at them. They won't pray for them. But a mother, a good godly mother will pray for someone else's kid when nobody wants to pray for him. Amen. And so, uh I think I probably had been one of those kids before. Uh, amen. But anyway, so for all of the other mothers that were praying and so the mothers who believed when nobody else believed uh and the mothers who stayed strong through difficult seasons and also the mother who carried families through tears, pressure and pain with grace and faith. And so some of some of you here today are natural mothers. Uh some of you are uh maybe expecting mothers. Uh some of you have lost mothers. Um and some of you are believing to become mothers. And some have uh carried the heart of a mother to people that God placed in your life. And so today we honor all of you. Amen.
Um, so this morning, you know, uh, can we just take a moment to give all the mothers a big round of applause? Come on. Just And you know, to my mother, happy Mother's Day to you. I love you. And to my wife, uh, Pastor Rachel, happy Mother's Day. And I'll see you later.
Uh, I love you as well. And, uh, so we love you. We honor you, and we thank you. So today I'm going to talk about, you know, today I'm going to talk about the light of the world. The light of the world.
And, you know, I think it's a very important time in history uh that we're living in. We're living in a time where we're dealing with wars, uh, a lot of political madness, mayhem. Um, we're dealing with a lot of cultural shifts.
Things that used to be, uh, bad, they're now calling good, and things that used to be good, they're now calling bad. Uh, and the Bible spoke about that. Uh, but, you know, I would say we're living in a generation also where there's a lot of people that are searching for answers.
Um, because it's there's a lot of darkness out there. And so people sometimes get confused about what is good and what is not good. And you know anxiety is rising, confusion is everywhere. And darkness is increasing in our culture. And many people are trying to figure out what what is really truth like what what is the truth? Because a lot of people talk about my truth and his truth and her truth and all of that nonsense, but there's only one truth. And in the middle of all of the chaos, Jesus made one of the most powerful declarations in scripture. He says, "I am the light of the world, and he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
And uh so before I get into my message, I just want to thank God for this week.
I I had the opportunity to uh go and speak before about a thousand people at the uh the Tarant County uh national day of prayer uh lunchon and uh was invited by the judge executive over the county judge executive Tim O'Hir and uh really it was just an amazing time. I was one of five speakers and they said that they saved me for last because uh they knew that I had some kind of fire in me. So they wanted so so they said yeah. Um so it was awesome. It was an awesome uh you know event and you know really I just I just I just poured out upon the people about you know the commu about community about love about unity which is what God has been speaking to me about and and told me that this year is going to be the year of unity. And uh so it was an awesome time and a lot of people came up after and were blessed. they said they were blessed and um so I'm grateful for that and of course I'll be in DC uh this week as well uh for a number of meetings in DC and uh uh so y'all pray for me with that with my travels as well. So uh the main scripture today is John 8:12 and it says I am the light of the world.
Jesus says he it says he who follows me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.
Then Jesus Jesus he turns around after he makes that statement right uh pointing to himself um in Matthew 5:14 he says you know and and something that that's shocking to believers you know to people that don't read their Bible it's shocking to them what Jesus says because you know when you think about the light of the world you think about who anybody when you think about the light of the world who do you think Jesus. Right? So, here's what Jesus does now. He turns around.
Let's turn around. He turns around and he makes this other statement in Matthew 5 14 and he says, "You are the light of the world."
Wow. So, think about that. Jesus did not say you might become the light one day.
He did not say that pastors are the light. He did not say that only prophets and evangelists are the light. He said you are the light of the world. And so that means that when you walk into a room, heaven walks in the room with you.
When you pray, your words cause darkness to move.
When you speak truth, confusion begins to break. And when we worship, just like we did this morning, atmosphere begin to shift. And light, get this, light changes environments without making noise.
Light just has to be turned on and it changes the environment.
And no, there's no noise involved.
See, you can walk into a dark room and never hear light arguing with darkness.
Light simply shows up and darkness leaves.
And this that is what the kingdom of God is supposed to look like through believers.
So before we can become light carriers, we must understand that Jesus is the source of all spiritual life. In John 1:4, uh it says that in him was life and the life was the light of men. And so the world is trying to fi, you know, trying to find uh illumination uh through politics, through celebrities, through education, through money, through technology, through self-help philosophies, through the Illuminati, right? They're trying to find illumination through all of these different things. But real light only comes through or from Christ.
So darkness is not merely the absence of information. Darkness is also separation from God. That's darkness is when you are separated from God. And there's a lot of people that are separated from God and they're operating in darkness and many of them don't even know it.
Some of them are very nice people.
But uh you know the other day there was a a young man that got uh in trouble because he ended up in a in a sex sting and he's a conservative and he had no idea that the police uh department the sheriff's department and the police they they set up a sting for for men to go and to buy you know uh extra stuff. Um it was sexing. All right. So, uh, so he didn't know that that that was a setup, but they showed the video online and and he looked really nervous and he should have been nervous, uh, you know, for paying for that, right? And so, here's the thing. He walked into the room and um the the girl tricked him. Uh, it was, you know, it's a young lady. She tricked him. She was a police officer. He didn't know that. And she tricked him. And there it is. All of a sudden, boom, his whole life blew up. The darkness that was that was driving him to do what he was doing. The uh when the officer when he didn't had no idea that the lights were going to be turned on on him and then all of a sudden boom, he is in trouble. The darkness became light and everything was exposed right there in front of everybody, in front of the whole world.
And so darkness is not the See, so so so my point was that there's he's a conservative.
Um I don't know if he claims to be a Christian, but he he's if you look at him, he's a good family man. He's got a wife. He's got children. Uh he's got a business. He is, you know, promoting good values. But here it is all of a sudden, boom, there's this one little dark section of his life because he may not I haven't seen him profess Christ.
So he may not even have Christ. So there's a lot of people that profess some really good things. They have some really good values. But if you are separated from God, then there's darkness on the inside of you.
And so it doesn't matter. You have to fix first. Fix that one area first and then everything else will be right. It's Jesus that makes us righteous, not ourselves, not our own minds or mindsets or or value system.
Our own value system. Having a good value system is great because a good name is better than riches.
But at the same time, it is Jesus that makes us righteous. He is the source of the light.
So a person could have degrees, you know, many degrees.
I I'm talking about degrees even in theology and still be in darkness. Do you know that in some of the uh biggest uh uh what do you call them? Colleges um seminaries uh in you know around the world well in America. Do you know that in some of the biggest seminaries in America, the teachers, there are some of the teachers are actually atheists and that's a fact.
And so a person can have degrees and still be in darkness. They can have all the money in the world and still be in darkness. Uh you know, even famous people, right? A lot of famous people out there, they might look the part, but they may still be in darkness because spiritual darkness is deeper than intellectual ignorance.
Because spiritual darkness means that you're separated from God.
And Jesus, here's what Jesus came to do.
Jesus as the light, he came to reveal truth.
And he said also, "And you will know the truth and the truth will make you free."
Not set you free, but make you free, which is different than set. You could if you set something, it's ready to be made into something, right? Like you set a a a dough, right? You set it, but it hasn't been made into anything yet. But when you throw that thing in the oven and you put it in there for a, you know, few minutes, it can be baked or baked into a cake, right? Or bread. And now it's bread and it's cake. It's no longer dough or flour, right? So Jesus now he says, "And you will know the truth and the truth will make you free." So he came to reveal truth. He came to reveal what? Life. He came to reveal freedom. He came to reveal identity.
He he also came to reveal the kingdom of God. And that is one of the things that see we thought you know growing up in the church that Jesus came to introduce a new religion you know called Christianity. But G if you look at scripture you will realize that Jesus didn't really come to uh introduce a new religion. What he came to introduce was the kingdom of God, which is God's rulership, his power, his kingship in the earth realm, right? And in this kingdom, he has sons and daughters that are that have and he even calls us kings and priests. He calls us kings and priests unto himself.
And so, we belong to a kingdom. It's an invisible kingdom but it is ruled by Christ. Jesus Christ himself who is God.
And when Jesus enters into our life what he does is that he turns on the lights spiritually and then suddenly you begin to feel differently. You begin to think differently. You begin to discern uh differently. You begin to even pray differently and even live differently.
Uh and this is why salvation is often described as moving from darkness into the marvelous light. In 1 Peter chapter 2:9, uh it says here that and we've read this numerous times. In the beginning of it, it says, "Who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light?"
I mean when you think about that uh we are no long see what what what this is saying is that we were once a part of a dark world a dark spiritual world and you know it's funny that the government is now talking about aliens right y'all y'all been seeing that be careful with that you know they apparently they brought in a bunch of pastor and people call me and ask me hey were you one of those pastors that they the government brought into that secret meeting I'm like no uh you know, I wish I was, but no, I I wasn't called into that meeting, unfortunately. But what what they're doing now is they're releasing uh all of the files from all of the UFOs and UAP files of these objects that are flying through the sky or beings that they have on camera uh that do do not look like humans. And uh they're releasing all of this information uh to us right now. And you know, just thinking about it uh for a second that there the Bible talks about angels of light. Paul, he talked about angels of light. He says, "Even if an angel of light shows up to you that preaches another gospel that is different to the one that I've preached, let it be accursed." And so we find that we now have to be even careful of what the information that the government gives us about UAPs because one of the messages is is that the UA the the you know these aliens they they claims there are some government officials claim that they created Christianity.
Yeah. So be careful folks. It's coming.
Deception is coming. It's I'm telling you be very very uh aware and awaken as to what's happening my friends.
Now uh next point is that light reveals where uh what darkness hides. One of the primary uh assignments of light is revelation.
Light exposes what darkness tries to conceal.
So when the kingdom uh uh when the kingdom light of God begins to operate, hidden pain uh begins to surface.
You know the the trauma that that people have hidden it begins to surface.
The hidden bondages begins to surface. And this is when the kingdom light of God be truly begins to operate. Because here's the thing, you cannot read, you cannot dive into scripture and into a a practice of prayer and hidden things not surface.
They come forward so that you can now begin to deal with it face on. Hidden addictions now begins to surface when kingdom light begins to operate.
And then also hidden deception. Do you know in the book of Jeremiah it talks about our hearts that our hearts deceive us. Yeah, it does. It deceives us. It tell you know it's like you know sometimes uh uh you know young people they get you know all confused about a guy or you don't not even young people I mean anybody really you know uh sometimes a woman might get deceived about a guy. Now she she knew at the beginning when she saw him she had a bad feeling about him. She looked at him, she's like, "And then he starts talking to her and then uh she, you know, he starts saying all the right things and then before you know it, she's like, I think I like this guy, but she knew that he was bad for him, but she keeps on lying to herself, telling herself that no, maybe it might be okay."
You know how that sounds to God?
like he he feels like you lost your brain, >> right? And so so sometimes we lie to ourselves thinking that we are doing what is right, but we know there's something on the inside of us. And the Bible even talks about it.
Jesus even talked about it. He says if even if your conscience is against it, to you that is sin. When you do something that is against your conscience, you are dating a guy that you know is the devil himself incarnate, right? A a and your conscience is telling you that it's wrong. He says to you that sin. Now, somebody else might be able to date him and and and and and and convert him into Christianity, but you might not have it, right? And so you were like, "But but look, uh, if I let him go, somebody else is going to get him. And, uh, what if she gets him?"
Well, if she gets him, she might be stronger than you are, and she might have the power to convert him. Who knows? But it might not be right for you. So, don't deceive yourself. And sometimes that's what we do is that we deceive ourselves in many different ways, you know.
This is why many people sometimes avoid the church. Do you know that? It's because of the light because light exposes things.
And there's some people that hate to be exposed. I mean, you say just one I mean, you just say, "Hey, uh, you're not totally matching today."
Oh my god. You know, they're freaking out. They're panicking. What do you mean? They hate to be exposed.
It It doesn't matter what it is.
Could be the smallest thing that you say because people do not really like correction. And when you're running from correction, here's the funny thing, folks. When you are running from correction, do you know that you're running from the love of God?
The Bible itself says, "Those I love, I rebuke and I chastise."
And so when you're running from correction, you might be running from God.
And so you're like, "Here it is. Here's our prayers. LORD, PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR LOVE, LORD." And he's like, "Okay, well, I need you to clean this up in your life." You're like, "Wait a minute, God.
Wait, hold on.
You're offended because God is telling you to do something to correct something in your life that needs to be corrected.
And you're like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa." And he might use the pastor to tell you. AND YOU WILL GET MAD at the pastor for telling you something.
And it's God speaking the whole time.
Well, he ain't going to tell me nothing.
Does he know who I am? Oh, yeah. God knows who you are.
See, this is why some people avoid church because not because they hate God, but because light reveals what darkness allowed them to hide from.
But church, revelation is not condemnation.
God does not expose people to destroy them. That's why I don't believe in a lot of these online YouTube exposure ministries.
You know they believe that they're doing the will the work of God they are exposing preachers and teachers and exposing everybody. Do you know that just even in the last two months, there's two guys that exposes preachers online and one of them uh ended up in uh uh his wife coming out and saying that how he was trying to have a polygamous relationship with two other women and was trying to invite two other women into their marriage because he couldn't have kids. And it blew up all over the internet. Now, this guy was a preacher who was talking about every preacher that he had a problem with. I mean, he was just lacing them with condemnation.
And then there's another guy who did does the exact same thing. And would you know that that guy is in has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks, doesn't even know he's going to make it or not.
And that's been what's been happening over and over and over. Why? Because God didn't give us a ministry of condemnation.
So it's not our job to go around trying to expose. There is a process for exposure, but it's not what they're doing. That's for sure.
Because here's the thing. Whatever a man sws, that's what he will reap. And so sometimes when you when people are out there sewing evil, they're just trying to find a way to expose this one and expose that one. What they're doing is they're building a tree. Basically, they're planting seeds and and sometimes they have five different trees that are growing. And the Bible says that and and you will eat the fruit from it. So whatever tree you grow up, if it's exposure, then you're you're throwing out exposure every day out of your mouth. You're condemning everybody that you could find.
Guess what's going to happen? You're going to be exposed.
Your life is going to be a mess because you're trying to destroy everybody else's life. And that's just how it works. Whatever a man sws, that's what he will reap.
All right? So God does not expose people to destroy them. He exposes people to heal them. It's a difference.
You know, a surgeon shines light into the area that he intends to heal.
I mean, imagine going to a foot doctor for your foot and he cuts your hand open like like what kind of madness would that be, right? But that's what's happening in our society in in the church. that's happening spiritually.
You know, some of you have been in a season where God has been revealing areas in your life. He's been revealing fear. He's been He's been revealing bitterness. Some Some of us are bitter about certain things. It's like sometimes when a person's name pops up, you're like, you realize that my God, I still I still carry a little bit of bitterness there. Lord, Lord, please forgive me. you some of us have insecurities because when a certain subject comes up oh my god you start you even start doing this it's like because that's the sign language of in insecurity you comprom see some of God has been revealing compromises in our life and and there's a big one there's a big one there's a big one that the church is struggling with and I said this last week or this past And I heard another preacher say probably three days later, the church is struggling with one of the biggest sins. Do you know what that sin is?
One of the biggest sins is prayerlessness.
I said it, I think last week a couple times that you can go to a mega church with thousands of people, 20,000 people and probably only five of them praying more than they do by just going to service on Sunday. There's probably five of them probably pray at least three or four times for the week.
Prayer. Prayerlessness.
And also God has been revealing areas in people's lives where there's unbelief. And all of these things it makes sense. If there's unbelief, there will be prayerlessness because you don't believe in in if you have struggle a struggle believing God, you're not going to pray to God because there it used to work. Here's the funny thing.
And I've had this these types of thoughts before where it's like, "Oh, God, you know, during this season of my life, everything used to work."
And then you think, well, maybe I should just go back to doing what I used to do instead of thinking, God, help me move forward.
How can I move forward? Not how can I go backwards to what I used to do before that used to work. Now remember, the thing that used to work may not work for you today.
But you know what will work?
A regimen of prayer.
getting to know the word of God and diving into believing so that you can get out of unbelief, out of fear, out of bitterness, out of insecurity, out of compromise.
My God, you know what remains hidden cannot be healed.
God wants to show you show us all mercy, but we've got to open our hearts to him.
Do you know that we're called to shine?
Matthew chapter 5:14 says, "A city that sits on a hill cannot be hidden." That's what Jesus said. We're all called to shine, not to blend in.
Have you ever had somebody tell you, "My God, there's there's just something about you like, I can't put my finger on it, but there's something special about you. I just can't put my finger on it."
Have you ever had that?
Yeah. I've had it lots of times. And you know what? It's the grace of God on my life. It's It's the light of Christ shining in and through me. That's basically what it is.
I've had witches come to our church. The first church I started, I had witches come to our church and say, I this this one witch, she was the first one that I encountered in our church. She comes up to me. She's I was like, what? She's like, tell me, talk to me. She's like, you I said what? Tell me. I see light.
I said, "Yeah, I know." She said, "I see light."
I said, "Well, what else you got?" She says, "I go from church to church to try to mess with people, with the pastors." And she said, "I couldn't mess with you today because I see light."
And I was like, "Wow, thank you." Okay, now leave and don't ever come back.
See, the problem of modern Christianity is that many believers are trying to fit into the darkness instead of confronting it with the light.
That's the problem we have in society.
Everybody just want they they don't want I don't want any trouble, you know. I I don't want any problems.
Just I just wanna, you know, I want to live on a beach. I want to cruise. I want to, you know, just lay on a sandy beach all day and do nothing but just like, you know, and if there's any confrontation whatsoever, please take it somewhere else. Not just not in my environment. I don't want any trouble.
But there was a guy named Jason in the Bible in the book of Acts. You ever heard of that story?
Go read it. He was a he was considered a troublemaker. They even throw him in jail because he was confronting demons.
He was he was stirring up trouble. He was he was preaching the gospel boldly and he was not afraid.
And they took him and they threw him in jail. He got out and he still kept on preaching.
The Bible calls for us to have boldness. And if you don't have boldness, pray for boldness. Because remember, there's a principle between light and darkness. That light, when you are the light, Jesus says you are the light of the world. You should not be afraid of darkness. You should not blend in with darkness.
Light does not blend in with darkness.
We're not called to mirror culture.
We're called to transform culture. The church should not look exactly like the world.
See, kingdom people think differently.
We love differently. We forgive differently. We we speak differently. We conduct our ourselves or conduct business differently. We uh as Christians we raise our children differently. We handle conflict differently.
The kingdom mindset uh says that I belong to another system not this Babylonian system of the world.
Could you imagine uh trying to live according to the system of our world? Do you know even though Joe Biden is no longer in office or Barack Obama is no longer in office, do you know that there are still people in our nation that are raising their kids under a liberal loose goose mindset?
You know, I was enlightened about, you know, uh one of our members lived in South Lake and she was telling me about uh her neighbors and um how their kids were getting uh pub puberty blockers, you know, and uh she said, "Yep, there's a that's a that's a thing around here."
She says, "There's a bunch of kids that are all going to get uh hormone blockers because they don't know if they're a boy or a girl.
Tons and tons of kids in in that area."
And so, you know, here it is that some of the parents uh they they some of them are are even conserved conservatives, but uh they're they they are so see in their neighborhood amongst a group of people that they're around, they're really not really strong on any particular thing. They don't really stand on any particular ground.
They don't have a kingdom mindset that says I belong to another system and this system is not of this earth.
See you may live on earth but your citizenship is in heaven when you are a Christian.
Paul said in Philippians chapter 3 20 he says for our citizenship is in heaven.
That mean that means that believers as believers we operate from kingdom principles from kingdom uh wisdom from kingdom authority from kingdom discernment.
You know Jesus said another thing that Jesus talked about was uh along the lines with with we are the light. He says that we're also the salt of the earth.
He said believers are the salt of the earth. And I believe this is the believer's assignment.
Salt in biblical times preserved things from corruption.
And we're, you'd agree with me that we're living in a corrupt world.
We're living in a corrupt system. But believers are supposed to slow corruption through righteousness.
There's something that happens with salt. When you take salt, salt actually creates thirst.
And so if we are the salt of the earth, our life should uh create thirst in people.
Your life should make people thirsty for God.
Not religious, not weird, not uh fake spirituality, but authentic kingdom living. When they see us as the salt and they get a little taste of our life, it should make them thirsty for the kingdom of God. That's why Jesus talked to the woman at well that way. And he says, "What I can give you, you you you're trying to get this natural water, but what I have is an everlasting water. When you drink of this water, he says, you'll never thirst again. You will become the salt of the earth. Jesus was the salt and he made us to be the salt.
When people see your marriage survive attacks that even some of them attacked it, they'll wonder how are how are they still standing.
People should watch your faith during difficult seasons and ask how are you not falling apart?
You know, I'm sure that people wonder that about me because I've been hurt. I've been betrayed numerous times.
So, people wonder how, you know, Okay, here's here's a story for you guys. My wife and I, when we got married, we we got married really young. I was 21 and she was 18.
And yeah, that was really young. Boy, when we got married, there were some people in the church realm that had some problems with us.
I'll tell you why.
My wife is, you know, I didn't even realize at the time, but my wife is actually white. And uh I just figured it out the other day, you know. So, um, so in the church realm we grew up, like I didn't even know that that was a problem really, right? And, uh, but we grew up in a, you know, like the Pentecostal type church realm. And, you know, I met her at a church camp meeting years ago. And so, there's a quite a few people that had a problem with it.
And there's some people that still today have problems with it.
And you know, even in our marriage, we had, you know, we even had some some black folks that had some problems with it, too. They look at me strange like and then they'll ask, "So, are you a football player?"
Because apparently that's what they do, right? you know. Um, so but here's here's the thing.
There were was a couple of guys that back in the day that I know for certain that one of them made a statement about us and they he discussed it with others and discussed it and these the and anyways here's what he says. He says, "Oh, Jay and Rachel." Yeah.
They're not going to last two years.
They won't last two years. That's what they said. And then the others agreed.
I I remember there's there's about three of them. There are like a group of three of the guys, you know, and they're from the church that I grew up in. Do you know that all three of those guys are all divorced and none of them made it to 26 years like I did.
So there are people, they're looking, they're talking, they want to see your demise, they want to see your downfall.
But if God before us, who can be against us?
That's why it's important to have the light of Christ shining in and through you always praying without ceasing.
And I'm pretty sure it's not just those three guys. There were other people even on my wife's side of the family and all that stuff. There are people that were just like there's no way this is going to actually work.
Yeah. That's what they believed.
So yeah, we we've been through a lot because I was 21 years old, she's 18. We had no clue about the these people and their thoughts and what they thought, you know, we had no idea. To us, she's a human. I'm a human. Let two humans come together. That's it. But no, to they had some other stuff going on in their heads. It blew my mind. You know, at that age, I had no idea that was a thing. But here's here's here's what keeps you is prayer.
Had I not known about prayer by God, we'd have been destroyed long time ago just by the witchcraft words that are spoken. Do you know that words become arrows, becomes fiery darts? It attacks you. You don't Sometimes you you're feeling confusion and frustration. and you're like, I don't know where that's coming from because I'm okay, but why am I feeling this way? Well, you're feeling that way because sometimes people are talking about you.
You know, the reason that many believers lose spiritual brightness is because they are disconnected from prayer. And when you're disconnected from prayer, guess what? Those darts actually hit you.
Prayer is where oil is produced.
The lamp without without oil eventually burns out. And you cannot shine spiritually without intimacy with God.
So prayer is not a religious exercise like some people would think. You know, you ask some people, well uh uh how how often do you pray? Well, I pray every single day. Okay, go deeper.
When do you pray? Well, yeah. Um, I pray before every meal.
Oh, I see. Okay.
Do you pray any like any more times after just the meal? Cuz your meal prayer is probably 10 seconds. Father, bless this meal in Jesus name. Amen.
Well, yeah, I pray before I go to sleep.
Uh, can you tell me what do you actually pray when you pray before you go to sleep? Well, now I lay bee me down to sleep. I pray thee, Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray thee, Lord my soul to take. Amen.
Lord have mercy.
That is a religious exercise.
So I realize that that that people have trouble with prayer. They don't know how to pray. They don't know that how important prayer is, but prayer is a lifeline for us. Yeah. And it is a relationship. Amen. She's preaching for me over there. Hallelujah.
So prayer is communion with heaven.
Prayer, what it does is that it sharpens your discernment. So this is why it's important. It it it helps you to discern things that you normally would not be able to discern.
It strengthens your authority.
So instead of you walking like, you know, always I I dodged that one today. Always walking with that mindset that you're you're somehow trying to survive.
Prayer gives you strength and spiritual authority to walk uprightly.
It also activates peace which als which gives you confidence.
It renews your vision to be able to see things clearly.
It releases wisdom.
It empowers you when you are going through spiritual warfare.
When believers stop praying, what happens is compromise enters.
That's where people get depressed.
You show me one person that has depression, I could immediately tell you that they don't pray. And if they tell you they pray, more than likely they are lying to you.
It's the truth. It's just the truth.
I've been there. I've I've seen I've seen a lot of this stuff over over all the years that I've been preaching and teaching and pastoring.
Now, this is not a discouragement to to you coming to me for prayer because you're depressed. I don't want you to feel like, "Oh, he's going to he's going to judge me and say that I'm not praying." Well, maybe you do need to have that conversation with me so that I could remind you that you do need to pray, and that might be a good thing.
But people hate correction so much.
They hate It's like, "Oh, I don't want him to know that I'm not praying. I don't care. What I care about is that you do start praying."
Well, I don't want him to know.
I don't read my Bible.
I DON'T CARE. I WANT I what I care about is that you do start reading your Bible.
that you do start praying, that you do start fasting or or becoming more and more spiritual in your walk talk because death and life is in the power of the tongue. That's what I care about.
People have so many junk that they just hold on to in their minds and they're trying to I'm well I'm just so protective of myself. No, what you're doing is protecting demons.
Demons love Do you know that demons love secret relationships?
They do. And here's how it works. You know, years ago, the Lord revealed this to me. He says, "Go pick up that that rock." I said, "Why, Lord, you just go do it." So, I went and I picked up the rock. And as I lift the rock up from off the ground, what do you think I saw under that rock?
Huh?
No, I Well, close. I saw worms and I saw bugs. And what did the worms do?
Anybody?
They try to hide. Right. So, what the Lord showed me was that when you lift that rock up, he says under that rock is the life of many people.
And when you lift that rock up, all of the demons in their life tries to run and hide. But there are some people, see, as long as that rock is there and nobody moves it, the worms and all the bugs, they're running free nilly and they're just, you know, having a a great old time. But the moment you lift it up and you expose that rock, what's under that rock, they try to run and hide.
See, in our life, sometimes we need to expose some of the things that we're dealing with. The Bible actually says, "Confess your faults one to another so that you may be healed."
Well, I I don't know if I'm preaching today, but I'm preaching anyway.
You know, if the son of God needed to pray, think about it, how much do we need to pray?
Jesus who he walked on water.
He walked on water and he needed to pray.
How about us? He healed the sick, raised the dead, opened blind eyes, opened the deaf ears, and he needed to pray. Well, how about us?
Kingdom prayer changes things. The kingdom mindset understands that prayer is not passive, but prayer is governmental.
See, when believers pray, heaven moves on our behalf. Angels respond, strongholds weaken, atmospheres shift, demonic resistance is confronted. James 5:16, I've been talking about this over the last few weeks. It says, "The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much, which means that it's powerful and effective. It produces results, right?" And so, notice the scripture says fervent, not casual, not sleepy prayer. You know, I think I'm gonna go pray now now that I'm tired. You know, prayer really helps me to sleep better.
Notice that the scripture says the fervent prayer, not sleepy prayer, not unbelieving prayer, but passionate faithfilled prayer.
You know, there are some battles that we will not win intellectually. You know, we because like, well, I know this area.
I know what I'm talking about here, so I'm definitely going to win this one.
No, win it spiritually first.
Prayer is when families are uh this is what happens when you pray.
When you pray, families can be restored.
Not through intellectual thought.
Prodigals can return. You know, some sometimes people are like, "Well, what can I say to my son so that he can return home or return to God?"
And you're like, "Maybe I could go read a nice book about it." Right? A and the book will tell you intellectually something that you know psychology wise might work but it may not work because there's something spiritually wrong with your son.
So prayer would make the correction and give you the discernment and the knowledge and the wisdom.
Prayer is where healing manifests as well. Prayer is also where breakthroughs happen. Prayer is where revivals begin.
And do you know that there's one sure thing that the devil hates?
It's prayer.
He is literally Paula. He's literally afraid of you praying. I'm telling you, he is afraid of you praying.
Every time you kneel down and pray Samuel, here's what happens. The Bible says that he has made his ministers to be a flame of fire.
So every time you pray, I want you to imagine that if there are demons in your presence, when you begin to pray, fire is coming out of your mouth.
Sometimes you got to imagine things. You know, it's like you got to close your mind because sometimes when I'm praying for the sick, I'm imagining that I have a sword in my hand and I'm chopping demons necks off.
My eyes are closed and I'm like chopping their necks off. Demons falling by the wayside and I'm just slaughtering all of them.
I'm going into the en enemy's camp and I'm taking back what the devil stole from me. Come on, somebody. That's that's the that's the type of mindset that we have to have. We got to close our eyes and be like, see, that's that's that's the reason you can close your eyes when you pray. You're imagining what uh what what you want to see happen when you pray.
You're looking into the spirit realm and you're seeing it happening.
All right.
Lastly, well, gotta yeah, I'm gonna try and close up here now. The light must reach the lost. See, Jesus never intended for the church to become isolated from the world. We're call we're called to invade dark darkness with truth and with love, not condemnation, not arrogance, but truth wrapped in grace.
And there are people around you every day. Hurting people, addicted people, uh suicidal people, depressed people, confused people, traum traumatized people. And and many of them are waiting for someone that is carrying light.
And church, you may be the only Bible that some people may ever read.
Your kindness may be the o the the the you know uh may be the only open door that they have ever received.
Your prayer may stop someone from giving up.
Your testimony may pull someone out of darkness.
So never underestimate the power of your life.
So God has called us to be the light and he's called us to be the salt to preserve to preserve life.
Now every one of you that are you know we've got a lot of people uh online here and grateful to have everyone here in house.
Listen, got something very important to share with you as we begin to close out.
The kingdom of God advances through partnership.
And that's the that's the reality.
That's the truth. It advances through partnership.
See, every time believers sew financially into the kingdom of God, they help spread the light of the gospel.
When you give, souls are reached.
Media goes out, the church expands, people are helped, the gospel advances.
See, giving is not just merely about money and it's not about losing money either.
It is about participating in kingdom expansion. Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." That's in Matthew 6:21.
And when believers invest into the kingdom, they're declaring, "I believe in the mission of Jesus Christ.
I believe in the ministry of Jesus Christ."
church. Darkness darkness is spending billions to spread confusion and lies and deceit across media and entertainment and culture.
It's just like during co they were spending billions advertising vaccines.
billions just so that people can get inoculated with poison.
You know, when somebody's running for a campaign, whether it's a governor's campaign, a mayoral campaign, a presidential campaign, they get millions of dollars that flow into their campaigns.
And some of them might not be even good people.
So darkness is spending billions, millions and billions of dollars spreading madness, more darkness.
How much more should believers support the spreading of the truth of the gospel?
So your giving becomes part of the light reaching the world.
You know, I believe that we're entering a season where God is separating true light from artificial light. There are many voices in this generation, but not all voices carry the truth. And the Lord is raising up believers who carry purity, who walk in discernment, who operate in prayer, who live with conviction, who move in compassion, who walk with spiritual authority. I believe God is calling essential church into a greater dimension of prayer, a greater dimension of healing. And we have the healing experience that's coming up in a couple of weeks. And I want you to let people know about it. Spread it.
So, I believe that we're going into a greater dimension of evangelism, of signs and wonders, and also kingdom influence in this season.
And the Lord is looking for some believers who will not hide their light out of fear of culture.
This is not the hour for compromise, folks. This is the hour for boldness.
So, as you give, the information is on the screen uh for you to be able to give right now.
You can text to give. You can go online to etrive.org/give and uh you can sew into this ministry today. Sew by faith knowing that God is willing and able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you can ask or think in Jesus name. So, Father God, as as we give today, Lord, I pray, Lord, that your blessings will be upon our giving.
Father, may your word be applied to our giving. Matthew uh 6 and 38. Lord, Father, give and it shall be given. Shaken together. Luke 6:38, sorry. Give and it shall be given.
shaken together, pressed down, running over, shall men give into your bosom.
So, Father, we thank you for all that you have given to us and we pray that you'll bless our giving, our tithe, our offering in Jesus name. Amen.
Amen.
I want to pray again before we go. So, just stand to your feet as we pray.
Hallelujah.
I think there's someone that's dealing with inflammation in their joints.

Let the revival fryer spread through Essential Church in our online community, our families, and this nation until hearts are transformed by the power of Christ.
And Father, may you bless my ministry, Lord, as I go out to Washington DC. May you protect me and our church from all hurt, harm, and danger. And father, may you help me to advance the kingdom. To pray for our leaders, our governmental leaders, senators, our governors, our uh congressman, our president, his cabinet. Father, help me Lord God to impact our nation in a powerful way in Jesus mighty name.
Amen. And amen. We thank you, Lord. The glory be to God. Amen. May the blessings of the Lord be upon every one of you as you go. Go ahead, raise your right hand with me and say, "I'm a leader because God says I am. I live a life of excellence where all things are possible.

Thank you. Say, "We're all blessed." So stay perpetually blessed.
All right. Love you guys with the love of God. I'll see you uh on uh Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night uh online and uh also uh back here next Sunday uh for Sunday service at 10 a.m.
