In football, offensive lineman success depends heavily on scheme fit and technical skills rather than pure athleticism; Bo Stephens' superior zone blocking abilities, proper hand placement technique, and scheme compatibility with the Seahawks' zone blocking system make him a better starter candidate than Anthony Bradford, despite Bradford's Super Bowl experience.

Seattle Seahawks Drafted A CORN FED BEHEMOTH To Start On Their Offensive LineAjouté :
I've got a bold prediction for you on today's show. Seahawks today is presented by PrizePicks. I'm your host Will Ortner and Bo Nix will start for the Seattle Seahawks in the 2026 season.
Now, he is not currently listed as a starter for the Seattle Seahawks. He is listed behind Anthony Bradford. And we know that Bo Nix is going to play both sides of the offensive line for the Seattle Seahawks because that is what Mike McDonald has said. He said that Stevens is going to learn both spots. He might be at right guard right now, but he is also going to learn left guard cuz he needs to be able to play both positions if he is a swing guard for the Seahawks. I have a bold take.
He will not be a swing guard for the Seattle Seahawks in the year of 2026. He will be the starter.
Do you agree with my prediction? Will Bo Nix start for the Seattle Seahawks in 2026?
Let me know down below in the comments section, yes or no. I'm standing on this one. This is not a take that I have where, oh, someone got injured and you're going to see me on Twitter be like, oh, Will was right. No.
He will start. He will earn a starting job on this team.
Let me know your opinion down below.
Why do I think Stevens is going to start? Because he's a great player.
I think that Bo Nix is going to be able to come right into the National Football League and show what he can do. I think that he is a big corn-fed behemoth for the Seattle Seahawks. And he is going to show everyone just how they play offensive line in Iowa. He played for the Hawkeyes. They are offensive lineman you down there. He's great in pass protection. He is great when it comes to run blocking. Bo Stephens is someone that PFF loves and adores.
And if we weren't too often looking at athleticism, Bo Stephens would have been a first-round pick in this draft. He doesn't allow sacks, he doesn't allow QB hits, barely gives up any pressures, and he doesn't take any unnecessary or unwanted penalties. Bo Stephens is someone that it is very clear when you look at his stat line was an All-American because he was. He played the position of guard to the highest level in the FBS system. He is someone, in my opinion, that just kind of got overlooked for other factors. When you look at a player who plays the game of football, Bo Stephens epitomizes that.
He's mean, he's nasty, he's gritty, and he's tough.
Too often, I think we look at this picture.
Too often, we look at this chart.
It's the RAS score, relative athletic score.
And what a lot of teams like to do in the National Football League is go to the combine, go to pro days, grab players' numbers, whether it's the height, weight, how fast they move, how much they bench, whatever, right? And then they plug it into this system and they go, "Ah, how good is this player?
Are they good enough to make our squad?
Oh, well, you know what? That offensive lineman ran his 40 faster than this other offensive lineman." And I get it, man.
I really do.
Bo Stephens had one of the slowest 40-yard dashes in the National Football League when it came to the NFL combine in 2026.
I also understand that as an offensive lineman, how many times do you think Bo Stephens is going to be asked to run 40 yards downfield?
I can tell you right now, every single time that he is asked to run 40 yards down the field. When the Seahawks have a big breakaway touchdown over 40 yards and when there's an interception returned for more than 40 yards, which hopefully there aren't any of those next year. Both Stevens doesn't have to run that far. We're looking too much at his athleticism. We're overvaluing it.
He's a great player. We've seen it on the field.
The next reason why I think that Stevens will start. Anthony Bradford has struggled in his career. Now, he earned himself a position last year to be a starter at right guard. He played well enough for the Seahawks to win a Super Bowl with him at right guard. That's important to note and that's certainly something that is important to mention.
But throughout his entire career, I would not say that there's a lot of Seahawks fans that are really happy or excited with everything that Anthony Bradford has done. And we're going to get into more of that here in just a moment, but I do need to let you know that today's show is made possible by PrizePicks. PrizePicks is America's number one sports picks app and is the best place to win cash while watching sports. With playoff basketball here, there's no better time to cash in than with our friends at PrizePicks. And I'll tell you this, the app, it's really easy to use. You can actually follow me on the app @bigwill7774 to see all of my lineups. I have a lineup for the football action going on later on this year. Justin Herbert more on his pass yards. Now, when we look at the entire year last year for Anthony Bradford, I really want to stick on the overall pass blocking grades from PFF. Now, the issue with Bradford is that his PFF grades are low.
Now, I'm not going to sit here and say that that means in the Seahawks system, he was grading out that low on their PFF grades, or excuse me, their just run blocking and pass blocking grades. PFF is the company that makes these deals known to the public, or their stats at least known to the public. But, if he's grading out that low, that means he's grading out that low, or at least close to that low in the Seahawks system as well. In my opinion, the fans in Seattle are done with Bradford. I can't tell you how many times I open my DMs, or I open text messages from family members, and they say, "Well, when are the Seahawks going to move on from Anthony Bradford?"
And the fact that he's in the last year of his deal, kind of seems like that time is approaching rather rapidly. I think I might be done with Anthony Bradford in Seattle, and I don't think that I'm alone in that thought process.
I think that Stevens is a better scheme fit, and that's important to kind of talk about as well. Anthony Bradford, what makes him good, or at least what puts him in the best position to succeed, is when he is moving forward.
He wants to attack. He is better in man and zone blocking scheme, or not zone blocking schemes, excuse me, gap blocking schemes. Man, gap, power. Think about that. Seattle, we run zone blocking schemes. And Rob Staton does a fantastic job of covering the Seahawks.
He had this to say about Stevens. Steven had the third best zone blocking grade in the draft. Stevens is a very good zone blocker. If you are going to run a system that has zone run schemes, then I don't want a man or a power or a gap scheme type of a blocker. I want a zone blocking offensive lineman and someone who excels in that avenue and in that mark. Both Stevens clearly is a great zone blocker and that is somewhere where he is going to really stand out across this board and he's going to stand out the rest of us. He's a great zone blocker. So, let's get a zone blocker in the system and let him just cook.
I think Stevens is technically sound.
Anthony Bradford has too many opportunities where he is reaching. He is a lunging. Lungers lose every time was something that my old offensive line coach, the great Chris Fisk, used to tell me. Cuz I lunged a lot. Cuz I didn't move my feet a lot. That's why I'm here at Chat Sports and I'm not playing on Sundays. Both Stevens is someone that stays within himself. He's not reaching out. He's not lunging. He's someone who's moving his feet to make sure that he is in the right position to make his blocks. He is someone that he's using proper angles to put himself in the best position to make a block. Ray Roberts was on with Seattle Sports. I believe it was Wyman and Bob and he had this to say on Both Stevens.
He has a very good target with his hands. He's always inside out with his hands. A lot of guys reach out for your outside shoulders because they're trying to see everything, grab everything. And this dude, he's just snatching your chest every time. You love to see it. I want guys who get their hands right on that chest plate. They lock them in.
They squeeze nice and tight and they don't let guys go. One, because you're not going to get called for a hold inside of here. You get called for holds outside like this. Grab a guy inside nice and tight, lock him up, and drive him into the ground. That's what Bo Scarbrough is going to do in Seattle.
Which position battle are you most excited to watch this off-season? Really interested in hearing what you have to say. Obviously, we have OTAs that are coming up for the Seahawks, so we are going to be able to dive more into some of that news here rather quickly. Um, but what are the position battles you're most excited to see? Is it the right guard position battle? Is it maybe a safety position battle? Maybe one of the wide receiver position battles. A lot of position battles going out for the Seahawks. Interested to hear what you have to say there. The last reason why I think that Bo Scarbrough is going to start for the Seahawks is simple.
The future. Anthony Bradford is on the final year of his deal, and I don't think that the 12s are excited about him potentially signing a contract extension. I don't think that John Schneider is either. Because if he was going to sign a contract extension, I think it already would have been done.
Think about it.
When the Seahawks have had offensive linemen that have needed to be, uh, resigned, those signings have happened.
But it hasn't happened with Anthony Bradford, and there really hasn't been a conversation around it. In my opinion, I think that Bradford's going to lose his spot, and then the Seahawks will end up trading him somewhere else. One, I don't think Anthony Bradford has a position with the Seattle Seahawks right now. But more importantly, I think that there are some teams that would potentially be interested in getting an offensive lineman on their team that won a Super Bowl the previous year. Anthony Bradford would fit that, and he's going to have a little bit of value. I think the time for change is now. Not to quote some sort of politician out there, because I know I've heard that somewhere in one of those types of talks, but Seattle needs to move on.
The right guard position is the weak spot when you look at the offensive line for the Seahawks.
I don't think it has to be anymore. I think that Bo Scarbrough can come in and be an instant upgrade for this team. And I think we are going to start seeing him put himself in the position to do that with OTAs starting next week. Thank you guys so much for watching today's video.
Make sure that you hit that subscribe button. Throughout next week, I want everyone to know I am going to be on vacation doing uh my buddy's getting married, so congratulations to that happy couple. But what is important, we are going to have content out for you every single day. Most weeks, when I'm in the office, we're putting out two videos for you every single day minimum.
While I'm on vacation, it's probably going to be closer to one to two videos a day. But even when I go on vacation, we get content out for you. There's no channel that covers the Seahawks that works as hard as we do in my opinion. So subscribe and turn on your notifications. Thank you guys so much for watching today's video. Tell someone that you love them. And as always, I can't wait to see you next time.
