Professional cameras like the Sony a7R VI feature high-resolution sensors (67 megapixels) with advanced specifications including 16 stops of dynamic range, mechanical and electronic shutters, and 4K video at 60fps without crop. Lens technology varies significantly: internal zoom lenses (like Sony's 100-400mm) protect against environmental elements by keeping the zoom mechanism enclosed, while external zoom lenses (like Canon's 100-500mm) offer greater versatility but require more careful handling. Lens hoods serve two critical purposes: protecting expensive equipment from physical damage and preventing lens flare by blocking stray light that would otherwise reduce image contrast.

With hours to go, we've got the latest leaked images & specsAdded:
The tension's building around the Canon EOS R6V and the Sony a7R VI. Yesterday, we provided you with three R6V leaked images of the back, side, and front.
Today, we're coming back with about 20 images to share with you of the R6V, the RF 20-50 mm accessories, the Sony a7R VI, and the 100-400 mm internal zoom. We also have leaked retail pricing for each. Click subscribe and we'll get right to it. Your subscription helps this channel reach more people and gives me a reason to get up early in the morning, like 4:00 in the morning early.
Hi, I'm Simon and welcome back to my channel. When I'm not out shooting with my favorite lenses and camera, I love to scan all the news and rumor sites, all the patent applications, and pro forms to understand where the camera market is headed. And well, later today we have the announcement of two cameras and two lenses, two very, well, well-built lenses. I love covering camera announcements and I love doing it with my friends. James Jackson will be joining us in a few hours as we cover the Sony a7R VI and the 100-400 mm internal zoom. But first up is the Canon R6V and the RF 20-50 mm f/4. This is the RF 20-50 mm f/4 image stabilized USM and it's a power zoom.
Uh while the image is cleaner than what I provided you with yesterday, it doesn't show the PZ MZ switch, which is located on the side. The side, huh?
Well, it's a cylindrical lens, so I guess it's all the side, isn't it?
Anyways, back to the images. The front of the R6V is clean with only that record button visible. On the back, we can see that the wheel is built of sturdier stuff. And we've got most of the standard buttons and dials that we'd expect to see. The mode button is a bit busy, but it's got us covered for any situation, including the very popular FV and of course the custom modes. The video photography switch is on the top left along with a color rate and menu buttons. The live and WB button are to the center right next to the mode button. The on-off switch is to the right of that and then above we have the multi-function wheel along with the zoom and record button. On the side, we can see the vent along with the mic, headphone, HDMI, and USB ports. The side houses the memory cards.
Supporting CFexpress type B and SD card slots. Accessories available for the R6V include the handheld gimbal tripod, the remote, and the AD-M1MA media lighting apparatus. And a big thanks to the sources who provided us with these leak specifications.
You can give them a big thanks. It's really them and not me. They've provided us with dates, pricing, specifications, and photos. Um, thank you. You've really helped this channel beat the competition to the market with accurate, reliable leaks. Um, I'm in your debt. Thank you very much.
I think in a way it's not about being first, but it's being accurate and correct. In a few hours, starting at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time, we will be covering the Canon launch of the R6V and the RF 20-50 mm to help you decide if this camera's right for you along with my expert guest panel. We will also cover the launch of the Sony a7R VI and the 100-400 mm internal zoom. The a7R VI is a professional-grade, high-resolution successor to the very popular a7R V.
Sony's announcement is a mere 30 minutes after Canon's announcement. And this one particular retailer, B&H, has already indicated what's coming. And we already know that's the a7R VI. And if you're interested in pre-ordering the R6V, the RF 20-50 mm, the Sony a7R II or the 100 to 400 mm internal zoom, then please consider using my affiliate links down below. These guys right here, I have links to B&H and Adorama in the United States, Wex Photo Video in the United Kingdom, and Photocog for the rest of Europe. Um my smart my smart pre-order links, the ones that I'm just talking about, they give this channel about 1 to 4% back, which help keeps the lights on, both the key light and the fill light, and thank you to everybody that has used them in the past. Now, onto leaked images of the a7R II. They're not as detailed as what we found with the Canon photos, but they do give us a glimpse of the a7R II. The Sony a7R II will have a 67-megapixel stacked sensor, and it's going to list for a price of around $5,099 or about 5,500 euros. And it's going to be announced alongside the Sony a7 Uh let me try that again. And it's going to be announced alongside the Sony 100 to 400 mm, which is an internal zoom, and it's going to sell for around $4,999.
I've got the Canon equivalent here, which is the 100 to 500 mm. And as you can see by that projection there, this is an external zoom, but it's not cheap.
It still sells for around $3,000 when it's not on sale.
It's handheld. It provides really good image stabilization. In fact, so good that you can be out on a boat, as I am here, in the ocean, and look at how steady and sturdy the footage is.
It's absolutely incredible. This This lens provides great value. But what Sony's doing with the 100 to 400 mm is providing an internal zoom. So, if you are out on the ocean and it's raining or there's mist, you don't have to worry about water getting on the barrel and then getting into the lens. Um being that it's a 100 to 400 here, it's probably going to be about that long. Now, if we take off the lens hood, which you never should when you're out in the field, it looks about this big, but I always have the lens hood on. And top tip, if you've ever wondered, why do photographers and videographers use the lens hood? Does it really serve any purpose?
Well, it serves two important purposes.
The first important purpose is Oop, I just bashed into this solid wood table. Now, that could have given a jar to the lens itself and maybe even damage some internal components, but the lens is flexible and the lens hood is flexible and helps protect it against, well, accidentally bumping it into things. So, you have you're protecting your investment, which is very important. The next thing is, when you're out shooting, let's say I'm shooting wildlife and I've and I've got it in my sight and I've got a great shot. It really is really good, but the sun is right here. Well, what's going to happen is the sunlight's going to come in on an angle and destroy the contrast. You're going to have kind of a faded-looking photo.
What the lens hood does is ensures that what you're looking at is what is being exposed and everything's being taken care of based on that. No light is coming in from the side, ensuring that you're going to get a much, much better photo. So, those are the two important reasons for using a lens hood. I have seen photographers you with really expensive gear like the R5 Mark II uh out shooting and not having a lens hood on. I I just I just don't have it.
I I I sorry, I just don't understand it.
Okay, on to the specifications for the Sony a7R VI. It will have 16 stops at low ISO. There's going to be a mechanical and electronic shutter, and it's going to be able to do 4K up to 60 frames per second without any crop. So, that means it's top frame rate of 4K 120 frames per second is going to have a slight crop. Back to photos. It's going to have pre-capture, and it's going to have a lot of the specifications that you can see right now in the Sony Alpha 1 Mark II. It's going to have a new body design. It's going to have a new menu layout and it's going to have new batteries.
And as far as shipping date, well, you'll be able to pre-order it later today and it'll start shipping on June 1st. I I really do appreciate you watching my videos and staying tuned to the very end.
I'm I'm pretty excited about both of these two cameras. They're aimed at completely different markets.
What's really impressive about the a7R 6 is how this camera just goes for it.
We're looking at 67 rounded off to 67 megapixels and it can shoot 30 frames per second. I want to know what the caveats are. Is that 30 frames per second raw and JPEG, raw and HEIF, raw, JPEG, you know um Sony lenses, that kind of thing. Uh I really am looking forward to this cuz this for a full-frame camera, this is the highest resolution beating the previous high resolution of 61 megapixels again a Sony a7R V. So, I'm really looking forward to this and if again, if you are looking at pre-ordering or purchasing any of this camera gear, have I left anything out?
No, I haven't. So, um if I've Wait a minute.
Do I What's this?
No. Okay, sorry. Stuff is coming in all the time, especially when an announcement is just around the corner.
So again, thank you for those of you that have used my pre-order links in the past. If you want to copy down these links right here, I've actually got them in the description for B&H, Adorama, Wex Photo Video and Photocog. If you can please copy those down and use those to pre-order in a few hours.
Uh thank you so much. You're really helping to keep the lights on on this channel, keep it going.
It really encourages me to get up early in the morning. I'm actually taking the day off work to do the this live stream that's coming up in a few hours.
And uh it doesn't cost you anything extra. It doesn't delay anything. It takes you to the same page you would normally go. It's just that when you complete the sale, we can get a small commission back of anywhere from 1 to 4%. And um that means an awful lot to me. So, thank you very much for watching. Please tune in in just a few hours. We're going to have start our live coverage at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. That's Toronto and Buffalo time. 1:00 a.m. No, 1:00 or 1300 hours London time and 2100 hours Tokyo time to bring you the latest leak specifications, who these cameras are for.
And I'm waiting to see we've got pretty well everything you'd want to know on the EOS R6V other than we don't know if it has waveforms. The Sony a7R VI there's a lot more that we don't know about that camera that we will know coming up in just a few hours. So, thank you so much for watching and we'll see you again soon. In just a few hours.
Cheers. Bye-bye now.
