[00:00:00]Every language has their own system of phonotactics or their own patterns that they follow. And so when someone who doesn't speak English natively learns English, they're bringing their own phonotactic patterns to English. That's what we call an accent. Right? So an example from Spanish is that in Spanish there are no syllables that begin with S and a voiceless stop. So S plus P or S plus T. To say a word like stop or Spanish for a beginning English learner, those are really hard for Spanish speakers. What they end up doing is saying "espanish" or "estop".
