Jones provides a sharp theological correction by prioritizing communal understanding over individual spiritual display. He rightly argues that the true value of any spiritual gift lies in its power to build up the collective rather than serve personal experience.

Is Speaking in Tongues a Distraction in Church?Added:
People of God, y'all doing all right?
It's me. It's me. It's me, oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer. Oh, I'm going to need prayer today because I'm talking about a subject. I keep beating this horse to death and it gets resurrected and then um I have to beat it again. We've been talking about this for many years. 11 years of the S Walter Jones show, glossleia and pneumatology, this study of the Holy Spirit and his effect on our lives, how he uses us, how he indwells, how he feels, how he baptizes, you understand? And he puts a hedge around us.
Uh so today we're talking about is speaking in tongues a distraction in the church. And I need you to know it can be when I say the church I don't necessarily always mean inside of a building but I mean among the eklesia it can be a distraction. It can be. I'm going to do a little small master class on Acts chapter 2 and other verses dealing with tongues and why we are so divided on it because this is a teaching channel and why some do it and some don't. But I'm going to not use a lot of my opinion, but I'm going to have to go through scripture to kind of help us understand the power yet the abuse.
Y'all ready for this?
I'll see you in 60.
Yeah, it's a show that will get you thinking where the topics are.
Feel free to comment whether you agree or not. Girl, he's got something to say.
>> Sir Walter Jones.
>> Sir Walter Jones.
He's got something to say. Sir Walter Jones.
Sir Walter Jones full seven days a week.
Always on time when his time is not free. Sir Walker Jones always on fleek labs trending topics like you jumping out your seat.
>> The water's fine.
Hello everybody. So John Jones show. I'm here. It is the midday connection. Baby, come on in. W. You doing all right? It's good to see all of you out there. Oh, you bunkers. Oh, I see all of you out there. It's so good to see you. And the rest of y'all who are coming in, uh, yes, we're beating a dead horse today.
Edward Townsen Jr. again. Tongues again.
Like, why do you keep doing this?
Why do you keep repeating things to your children? Hm. Hm. Why do you keep repeating things in life? H Why do your pastor continue to repeat some sermons over the past 40 years? He's did that sermon at least uh 600 times? H why did why was Jesus always repeating himself to the disciples? H why was God speaking to the children of Israel in repetitive mode and wrote saying the same thing over and over again? same message. H Why do we repeat? Why do you go to the court of law? The constitution is the same. The laws are the same. Your teachers teach the same curriculum every semester to a another group. H why? Why? Because maybe you ain't got it yet. So, there are new people who come here who need to know and never heard me say it. And then there are those who have been with me for a while who may need reiteration.
Y'all understand what I'm saying? I'm having a problem with Baptist and the Church of God and Christ.
Um, okay. My um my grandson is with me for the summer and his grandmama and m his grandmama comes here in the afternoon to pick him up. He's with me all morning and then she comes around 3:30 or something like that. For some reason, she's coming now to pick him up. Maybe she got out of school early. She's a teacher, so she comes here and pick him up. He's downstairs.
Um I'll unlock the door. I'm sorry y'all. This is family.
Okay. All right.
I had to let know I'm on my show. I'm have to go downstairs and but I I want to show y'all something here as I go downstairs and unlock the door.
Um, in the 1900s, Bishop CH Mason came from the Baptist church. There was a fight. They didn't understand his his new understanding and revelation of Acts chapter 2, Pentecost, uh that which is mostly spiritual and then the the work of the third person of the Trinity, Holy Spirit. They couldn't get with that and so they excommunicated him. All right?
And um he joined forces with those who were moving in that way in walks Isuza Street in walk um Seymour in walks uh CP Jones Charles Price and the birthing of this portion of Pentecostal church. You know Pentecost was was a thing before Isuza but it would we had to put a name on it. And so there was already there was already a church of God. Okay? And there were other churches, apostolic church. It was already that.
But whoever your parents are and wherever your foundation is, even though you might rebel or you may re you may get reformed or you may progress, the seed is still in you. And there was still some Baptist in CHMason. I heard it in his sermons, his writings, and in the his the way the way he would preach.
Baptist was still there.
All right. The problem I'm seeing in the church of God in Christ, the problem that I saw was the um how they looked at the Baptist church as being those who were sinners.
They were not of God.
and the elders. If I if if this was the old church that I was in, as an elder, I wasn't allowed to marry a woman who was Baptist, they would defrock me. They would silence me. I would be sanctioned all kind of stuff because I married a woman who was Baptist. Because just like the segregated uh segregation in America where whites were pulling their children out of schools once desegregation happened, whites pulled their children out of school and set up their their white institutions.
This is the same thing that the Church of God did once they separated themselves from the Baptist church. They didn't want no dealing with they didn't fellowship with them. You couldn't shake their hands almost.
So I see this this horrible thing um with um this nonbalance.
The Baptist church got it right yet got are missing some things when it comes to that which is spiritual.
The Pentecostal thing uh church got it right but they're missing many of the practical things that the Baptist church is trying to teach them and show them.
There is a a abuse in the Pentecostal church when it comes to spiritual gifts.
They over and go beyond the call of duty with that. And they will go through the actions, but they won't do nothing for your fellow man.
Won't visit not one soup kitchen.
We'll talk about the Catholic Church, but the Catholic Church own more land than any other religion out there.
Catholic charities have given multi-millions of dollars in aid to people who are in need.
Can you put that number on the Pentecostals?
You cannot. The Church of God in Christ struggle still to this day. They're not known for world missions. As I said yesterday, they're not known for a feeding program to the point where they decided to they wanted to link up with the Mormon church because the Mormon church is 100 billion dollars strong and they have one of the one of the I probably maybe second to the Catholic Church as as far as the feeding program is concerned.
But what are we doing? We're caught up in our churches doing rituals, talking to one another in different whatever we're doing and saying this is of God. Well, it could be of God in communication, but it ain't of God when it comes to going out in the streets.
And here's where I need to set you up.
I think the problem is the word social conditioning.
That's a kina hypers spiritual but a lot of times no earthly good. You see how I changed the color? I changed the color for you.
The word today is social conditioning. I was I was talking to this woman right next to me here. I can't say her name because then she likes to talk talk talk talk. And here's what she said about social conditioning.
Social conditioning is the process where society trains individuals to respond in ways that are generally approved by the social or the society and peer groups is like an in invisible force that shapes our behaviors, beliefs, and even our sense of self often without us realizing it.
On Saturday night, I was doing a Sunday school lesson and I began to make mockery of this whole altter call fiasco that we do because we're trying to get people to catch the Holy Ghost.
So I said, "Here's what's getting ready to happen tomorrow." Tomorrow was Pentecostal Sunday. And I went through the whole skit. How many of y'all were there?
And I said, "Here's what's getting ready to happen. They're going to ask somebody, people to get up who wants to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
They going to come up. Mother Bobo going to be in this ear.
Sister Mayhem going to be in this ear.
One going to be saying, "Hold on." The other going to be saying, "Let go. Hold on. Let go. Hold on. Let go. Hold on.
Let go." Just blowing their breath. And and and this person is going to roll.
They going to say, "Roll your tongue.
roll your tongue.
And they going to roll their tongue.
Roll their tongue. And then they're going to the church going to get excited. And then the preacher going to put his mic in their mouth and say, "What did the Lord do for you?" How many of y'all were there when I said that?
That was just a few days ago, Saturday.
Elaine, you was there. Carolyn, you was there. Joyce, were you there? H y'all was there, right?
Y'all heard me right.
out there. You was there.
I said this going to happen in your church tomorrow.
I said that.
Well, don't call me a prophet.
But um let me find this. This happened Sunday all over America.
Let me find it for y'all as I go down here and unlock this door for my grandson's grandmama.
OH. OH. HALLELUJAH. HALLELUJAH.
HALLELUJAH TO GOD. HALLELUJAH TO GOD.
COME ON, BABY. Come on in. Come on here.
Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. HEY.
How you doing, dear sir?
Hello.
Come on. Come on.
There you go. There you go. There you go. Come on.
You all let me say this.
Let me say this.
I grew up this way and um it's difficult.
It's difficult to see this today after coming into the knowledge of the truth on receiving Holy Spirit in our lives.
Um, I was the minister of music of a church.
I was playing the piano and they brought in this Caucasian woman who was prophesying over the church.
And she started bringing people up, asking them, "Do you want to be baptized with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost?"
And people were coming up and she was prophesying over them and and you can tell that they were being pushed.
Roll your tongue.
All right.
My musician was on the organ. I was on the piano. And she looked over at him, not me, because maybe she saw the wrath of my eyes. I don't know.
And she looked over at him and said, "Come up here."
And she pushed the mic in his face and say, "Do you know the Lord?" He said, "Yes."
"Do you want to be baptized with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost?" And he was like, "Sure."
So she started to lead him.
Just say it. Just say, just keep saying his name really fast. Really fast. And just just just let it roll off. Just let it roll off your mouth. Come on. Come on. You can do it. Come on. Come on everybody. Come on. Come on. Come on.
Come on. Come on. And then before you know it, he start going de.
Church went up.
I got angry.
You know why I got angry?
I got angry because I know he wasn't saved.
I know he wasn't my grandson. He trying to say goodbye before he leaves.
I know he want to say. So when service was over, he came into my office and shut the door. He said, ' Walter, let me tell you something. I said, stop right there. I know what you're getting ready to tell me.
I said, you're getting ready to tell me that you faked it. He said, "Yeah, I did."
Come here, grandson. You ready to go?
>> It's my chocolate boy.
He some of his teeth came back. I love you, man.
>> You too.
>> This Junior Junior, y'all. This is Walter the third.
>> This is Walter III. Say hello to everybody. Say hello.
>> Hello.
>> He say this is the Sir Walter John Show.
>> This is the Jo.
>> Okay, man. We'll see you tomorrow. Okay.
That's the That's We call him Junior Junior because he's my name's sake three times.
All right.
He wasn't born that dark. He just He just got darker and darker. He got chocolate like his mom.
Um where am I? Uh, so, um, I said, "You're getting ready to tell me that you've you faked it?"
He said, "I did." I said, "Why'd you fake it?" He said, "Cuz I got tired of her."
Does he know the water sign, Robbie? He said, "I got tired of her and I had to do something so that the people can leave me alone."
And um I said, "Now, what are you going to He said, "Ain't nothing I can do?" I said, "I don't want you living the rest of your life." I said, "No." I told him, "I I'm sad that you did what you did, but I'm glad that you realized what you know.
I'm glad that you real because if that was indeed tongues, you would have known it."
He said, "Yeah, I know."
And we disparted this. We we separated.
Why am I doing this?
Because I want to ask y'all a question.
The church is divided on the working of the Holy Spirit in a in such a horrible way because I think what has happened is that we became lazy Christians. We're lazy because we're paying too much attention to who got it right and who got it wrong while the world is dying.
So, let me ask y'all a question as we get into the scriptures. Are we instructed to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit in scripture?
I want to know, are we instructed in scripture to seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost?
And if the answer is yes, can you give me the scripture?
I need it.
Don't just give me a verse, the the address. Give me the whole scripture.
Put it in the comment section. I need to know.
It's vital that I know.
Are we instructed to seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost? Please, somebody put it in the script in on the on the on the in the comment section. I'd like to know.
I'm using the word baptism for a very important reason, please.
Are we instructed to seek it? Okay. So far, no one has put any verses up there.
Maybe you all are still looking for it.
All right, let's go to the Bible and I want y'all to see a pattern here.
Okay, a pattern. I'm going to go to Acts chapter 2.
All right.
And I want to read it and I want to see what is the problem here when it comes to tongues. And why is it that we say there are different types of tongues, heavenly or um different languages that men understand. Yet whenever tongues is given in our churches, there's only one that is represented.
only one is represented. And can y'all tell me which one is always represented here in America? Always h I like to know. Anna says, "Last week on Pentecostal Sunday, Don Shelby, the Holy Ghost stopped the music, told everybody to pray in the spirit. Five minutes went by, 10 minutes went by and no one spoke in tongues." and Bishop Shelby spoke in tongues, yet no one in all the assembly spoke. It was total silence. And I said, "Wow." I know he was embarrassed.
H Charm, you here? Not even Saturday and Charmy's back. Can I give that? Can I give that?
All right. Which which tongue which which tongue that is always represented?
Okay. Okay, Kina says heavenly language.
Okay, which one?
I'd like to know. Okay, we are instructing Matthew Ma Matthew. And I said, Martinez, put the verse there. Put it up. Don't just give me the address.
Put the whole verse there. I want to know, are we instructed to seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost?
Okay. You said the supposed prayer language, Kyle. Okay, that's strange to me.
That is so strange to me. Okay, because why is it in Acts chapter 2, we like to do a reenactment of ch of chapter 2, but we never see the fulfillment of Acts chapter 2 in our churches.
Never.
Jesus instructed his followers to wait for the Holy Spirit. Oh, okay. I wish I could. You ain't got no Can I get $4? Can I get $4?
All right. Chris Baker, my question was, whenever tongues are spoken in our churches, which tongue is typically represented?
the so-called heavenly language or the foreign language.
Which one?
All right, let's go to Acts two. On day of Pentecost, all believers were meeting together in one place. That's important.
Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like a roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then what looked like flames of tongues of fire appeared and settled on them and everyone present was what?
Filled.
What happened to baptized?
Why the scripture say filled h and not baptized?
Everyone was filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit and began speaking.
That's important.
Began speaking in what?
Other languages.
I need y'all to understand where I'm getting ready to go here because there's a difference between baptized and filled.
When this happened in Acts chapter 2, they were filled and began.
Hear me.
When a feeling comes, talking to Holy Spirit, when a feeling comes, something happens immediately.
When you take your key and put it in the ignition and turn it on, something happens in your car.
An explosion.
That is a feeling.
When the car was manufactured, it was baptized.
When the engine turned on, it was filled.
Maybe y'all still didn't get it.
In order for something it in order for it to be filled, it must be baptized first.
If you go in water, you are submerged or baptized.
If you open your mouth underwater, can you tell me what's going to happen?
This is important.
So I'm seeing here that as soon as they were filled with the Holy Ghost, they began now began to do what? A feeling causes an utterance.
Feeling causes an utterance.
And what was the utterance? Speaking.
Speaking what? Foreign languages.
right here.
Other language as the Holy Spirit gave them the ability.
Huh.
H clear Faith Christian. Good to see you.
So yeah, y'all got it. Y'all got the answer. If you in the Somebody said drowning. If you in the water, once you go in the water, you're baptized. Once you open your mouth, you're filled.
Okay. Here, these people start speaking in other languages. Something we never see in our churches.
Collins, I'm getting ready to answer that. At that time, there were devout Jews from every nation. That's important. Living in Jerusalem, when they heard the loud noise, everyone came running and they were bewildered to hear their what? Own languages. How many people that when you were in a room at your churches?
I don't know how many of y'all had the experience. I have. I was in services where there are people who spoke different languages.
I was in France when it happened.
I was at my church when it happened years ago. There were a delegation of Chinese that were there. They were foreign exchange students and the people start speaking in tongues and not one Asian in that room understood a word.
That was the prime opportunity for the church to witness to these Asian delegations.
And not one of them understood a word.
We got a problem.
Social conditioning.
Not understanding what the purpose of Holy Spirit is and the purpose of tongues.
I told y'all I was in France.
They were praying for those who were speaking French. Those people who spoke French didn't speak English. They might have they might have known one or two words, but they were they were heavy French and creo.
And the people in the prayer line, somebody went out, start speaking in tongues, and none of it was Creole or French.
So the interpreter had to come over and minister to this person in French while this other person was speaking in tongues.
What tongue?
And I stood in amazement and said, "This is what I've been talking about, God, for 11 years. You allow me to see it right here. This is what I'm talking about. Why is it that the American delegation could not speak in French although they said they were baptized cuz they seek after it.
Why didn't this happen? Thank you for super chat lane. I must I must be really I must be really teaching the view. Huh?
I like to know.
Okay. Well, let's keep going then because I'm going to get so many thumbs down on this teaching today. I am I I'm I have to be as fair and balanced as possible because I affiliated with the Church of God in Christ. The women's convention is going on right now. It's a very popular convention in our organization.
They're going to raise a couple million dollars today.
There's going to be some tongues happening in there. I saw it while I was watching it. Somebody sent me sent me the video and I was watching. I heard tongues. I said, "Well, praise God. Let the people do what they do."
But when feeling happens, something happens immediately. And when that don't happen, what did you do in public? Don't worry, y'all. So, I'm going to get to 1 Corinthians chapter 14. I'm going to get there, but I got to finish this here because I asked y'all a question. Are we instructed to seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost? And so far, nobody's given me a scripture right here.
They were hearing people speaking in their own language.
Marcus, blessings to you, sir. They were completely amazed. How can this be? They expla exclaimed. These people are all from Galilee.
And yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages. This not a heavenly language. This is native. Although all languages come from heaven. Here we are.
Pantheons, me, Elilummites, Mesopotamia, Judea, Capidoshia, Pontis. All right.
This is Iran right here. Up in here. Up.
Up in here. Up in here, y'all.
Christians, Arabs, you name it. They stood amazed.
I'll never understand why we can't teach this. Right.
I have only experiences once where the filling gave the utterance and there was a lady who gave the interpretation of her native tongue for a few who were there that spoke her native tongue because she was bilingual.
Ain't that something Vanzel that you've only experienced this once.
once was performative when I was cold. You can still is 15 years later. Thank you for the super chat. All right, since y'all haven't answered my question, let me see if I can get to to an answer. All right, let's go a little deeper here. That was Acts chapter two that kicks off this gift of the Holy Ghost. All right. So, here's what Paul did.
Here's what Paul did. He said, uh, Acts, let me see, 1 Corinthians chapter 12, that's going to shock you.
All right? Because what I'm getting ready to read to you may give you the answer on the difference between baptized and filling. Are you ready, boys and girls? Are there any moms and dads out there? I haven't eaten lunch yet.
And there's nothing in the house. I fed my grandson earlier, so he's stuffed, but I'm hungry. So, let me let me I'm going to have to go somewhere and find something right here.
Now dear brothers and sisters regarding your questions about the spiritual special abilities the spirit gives us.
Okay. I don't want you to misunderstand this.
Now aunt where is it? Where is it? I saw it. Somebody look look what angel said.
For John baptized with water but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
Were they supposed to seek?
Were they seeking the baptism of the Holy Ghost?
Were they seeking?
And why did Acts chapter 2 say filled?
In mostly all translations, it said filled but not baptized. For a reason.
I'mma tell you why.
I don't want you to be misunderstood or ignorant. You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray. So I want you to know that no one speaking by the spirit of God will curse Jesus.
No one can say Jesus is Lord except by Oh my God. Right here.
right here. You know what he just said here? He said you can't be saved except through the Holy Spirit.
How are men saved on the earth?
They saved through Holy Spirit.
He said no one can say Jesus is Lord except by Holy Spirit.
So how is it that you all I've been teaching your churches that you can be saved but now pray that I receive the Holy Ghost. But wait a minute, how could you be saved and not have Holy Ghost?
because of social conditioning.
I'll continue cuz he getting ready to fix this one right here. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of services, but the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work. And who? All of us. I want you to pay close attention to why he says this.
He's going to say all a lot. He not going to say some when it comes to this. He going to say all. Watch this. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. to one person.
The spirit gives the ability to give wise advice.
This is word of wisdom. And then word of knowledge. Okay.
Then there are those who have great faith. We all got faith but this is great faith.
Everybody can't heal. Some people have a gift of healing.
One person miracles.
Another person has the ability to prophesy.
Another one has the ability to discern whether a message is the spirit of God or from another spirit. This is the discerning of spirits right here.
We really need this one in the church more than almost everything, anything.
Another person is given the ability to speak.
Another person has the ability to speak in what? Unknown languages. That's the tongues right here. Oh boy.
So when he said that when I was young and read this, I said, "Wait a minute.
But I thought everybody's supposed to speak. Why is he saying another person?
Why isn't he not saying all?
Oh my. While another is given the ability to interpret that tongue. You mean to tell me there's some people who can speak in tongues, but they can't interpret what they said? Yes, this is true.
It is the one and only spirit who distributes all these gifts. He done. He He alone that is decides which gift.
Wait a minute. He's saying here you can't even pray for it. He said he alone decides.
Y'all, I'm not This is not my opinion. I'm reading from the same Bible you got. Same one.
Well, let's continue.
Here's where he really gets deeper into his thesis statement.
He said, "The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body."
So, it is with the body of Christ.
Some of us are Jews. Some of us are Gentiles. Some of us are slaves. Some of us are are free. But we have y'all see that?
How many of y'all see that?
I'm telling you, I'm going get some cards and letters right here.
We have some We have all been baptized.
Watch this.
Not just in one thing, but in a couple things. Into one body.
What body? The whole body. What body is that? The body of Christ by what? One spirit. Well, whose spirit?
And we all share the what? Same spirit.
You don't have my spirit. You don't have Sir Walter Jones spirit.
And I don't have Leila's spirit. But we all have the spirit of God.
Once we became party of part of the body of Christ, pastor, all of us. So when y'all get up in church and you say, "Now I'm saved and sanctified. Pray that I be baptized for the precious gift of the Holy Ghost."
You can't be saved based off of what he said here. You can't call Jesus Lord except through Holy Spirit.
So, how are you saying you saved and you ain't you don't have the Holy Spirit? We all been baptized.
Now, I got to fix that because people go say, "What about then? What about the feeling?" I'm getting ready. I told you about the feeling. Acts chapter 2. I'm gonna further tell y'all about the feeling.
Let me go to Acts chapter 4.
Watch what happens in Acts chapter 4.
It's going to blow your mind.
This happened a couple times among the apostles.
Look what it said.
As they spake unto the people, the priests and the captains in the temple and the Sadducees came upon them. Being grieved they that they taught the people and preached through Jesus the resurrection of the dead from the dead.
And they laid hands on them and put them in hold until the next day. How be it many of them which heard the word believed. and the number of the men.
You know how this was able to happen.
Acts chapter 2.
When the Holy Ghost fell on people, something happened to someone else.
I read to you in Acts chapter 2. I said they were filled and began. Remember I said that in Acts chapter 2. I showed you this here where here once they were filled something utterance happened.
Baptism happens automatically once you become part of the body of Christ. mute people who can't speak a word can be baptized because it is not just about the utterance of the mouth. Paul says in Romans chapter 10 that is not just uh confessing with your mouth it is believing in your heart. That's why it sens some people who can't talk they can confess. So then he reversed and said it is believing in your heart and then with that which was inside speaking in uh uh confessing with your mouth you shall be saved.
What if you don't have a mouth? That's why he brought up the heart because it's not which goes into a man that defiles him. It was is that which goes out.
You understand? So baptism is an act that happens to you.
Feeling happens to you which causes you to do something, say something.
I'm getting ready to prove it to you right here. You want me to prove it to you?
The Bible is my receipt.
You see all these people who got saved?
5,000. You know how they got saved? Can y'all tell me in the scriptures? I mean, in the comment section, how did these 5,000 become saved?
Huh? And it came to pass them on the tomorrow that their rulers and elders and scribes and Annas the high priest Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priests were gathered together at Jerusalem. And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what power or by what name have ye done this?" The next line is why I'm doing this show.
Then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost said.
I think y'all missed that.
The feeling is not a one thing that happens at the altar and going, "Gee, now you've been filled." No, baby.
Babym.
No. The feeling is something that happens over and over and over again.
When you're faced with something like when you get in your car and when you turn on that ignition, it is filled. The gas leaves the tank and goes up through that tube into your engine and gives it power. when he was faced with something he he he himself could not do anything but through the power of the Holy Ghost him being filled was able to what say something because there are many feelings Renee one baptism many feelings here then Peter filled And it happened again in Acts. Uh later on you see another disciple John or somebody and John or somebody being filled with the Holy Ghost. What said something?
Ye rulers of the people and elders if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man by what means he is. And he goes on to preach the gospel. You know why he's able to preach? Because he got filled again with boldness to say something. It has happened to you all a lot and you don't even know it.
When you talk to your boss, you didn't even know. Holy Spirit told you to say that. When you talk to the cop who pulled you over, Holy Spirit told you to say that. When you was at in court, the Holy Spirit filled me talking to the judge. That's how I didn't go to prison. I didn't go to jail because Holy Spirit told me, "Say these words to him." And I did. And he said, "Bam, dismiss. pay restitution and get out of my court. I can't put this man in jail.
You know why? Holy Spirit filled me right in front of that judge to say something to him that freed me. So all of you who are looking for tongues to happen, praise God. But what is the purpose of you even doing the tongues?
Is it going to edify you or is it going to edify the church? Is it going to edify those who are saved? Is it edifying those who are not saved? Is it going to edify the nation?
What is your purpose of doing it?
Because there are people among the bunkers who do speak in it and I don't bother them because that is their relationship. You cannot tell me how I should worship God. You cannot tell me and lead me through your social conditioning how I need to praise God. I praise him the way I praise him. As long as it's not against the scriptures, I should be able to either speak in tongues or decide not to. It's how I worship him. If I'm going to eat meat, if I'm going to eat poultry, then that is how I worship him. If if Wednesday is my Sabbath day, that's how I'm going to worship him. Leave me alone.
Well, here is what the Apostle Paul said about that.
Because this one here cuts through the marrow and the bone.
And what does he say?
Go back to 1 Corinthians chapter 12.
Look what he said.
He said, "All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it.
Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church."
First, the apostles.
Second, the prophets. Both of them laid the foundation.
We should be done. That laying of the foundation, y'all, is done. So if you if you want to say that you're an apostle, a chief apostle, master prophet, listen, boo boo, go do whatever you need to do.
Have your way. Enjoy yourself.
But why is it that my gift is not honored in the church?
Hm.
Why is it that God put in the church third the teacher yet he is dismissed and everybody else get gets special attention.
Huh?
Even in the what y'all call the fivefold in Ephesians, notice teacher is at the bottom, last one.
But yet the the other four get special attention.
But the teacher, no.
Then those who do miracles, healings, helps, leaderships, unknown. Why is unknown tongues at the bottom?
Yet in our church, we put it at the top.
It's at the bottom of this list. And it's at the bottom of this list up here.
Why is it always first?
I'm getting ready to tell you something, but I'm going to read it to you right here. This going this going to hurt you if you never read it before.
Are we all apostles?
He's getting ready to give you a series of questions. And the series of questions based off of the rule of literature is either yes or no. When you talked about when you doing hypotheticals, okay, these are it's got to be all yes or all no. Not some yes, some no. It's got to be all or the opposite.
So, are all apostles? Can y'all tell me what's the answer?
What's the answer?
So, if your answer is no, that means the rest of these is no.
Are all apostles? No. Are all prophets?
No. Are all teachers? No. Do we all have the power to do miracles? No. Do we all have the gift of healing? No. Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages or tongues?
No.
Do we all have the ability to interpret tongues, languages, tongues? No.
He said, "Of course not."
So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gift among the body. You can't ask for it. He says, "Desire it or King James used another word, covet."
Have all gifts healing. Do you also read? He said, "But covet earnestly the best gifts that operate among who?"
The body.
How much trouble am I in today? Cuz I'm in a lot of trouble right now.
I was reading this with a preacher on my show, the Sir Walter Jones show. This was some years ago.
And I read this portion. I said, "Now, let me ask you a question." The answer is all yes or all no. He said, "Sure." I said, "Are all apostles?" He said, "No."
I said, "Are all prophets?" He said, "Mm." I said, "Are all teachers?" He said, "Mm." I said, "Do all do miracles?" He said, "Nope." I said, "Do all do we all have the gift of healing?"
He said, "Mm." I said, "Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages or tongues?" I read it through King James. Tongues. He said, "Ah, well." And I said, "Did you see what you just did?"
He said, "No, I don't see what I just did." You don't see what you just did to yourself?
Can y'all tell me what he did there?
And if you can give me a psychological word or phrase, the bishop will be calling.
Jackie Barry, good to see you.
Huh? Can y'all tell me what that preacher did there?
Because he was part of this confirmation bias.
He was part of this social conditioning.
He was part of this tuning.
He was part, y'all got it, of this cognitive dissonance.
He couldn't move away from it even though the truth was right there in front of him. Even though the rules of language he understands, but when it came to that one thing that he stood on, he could not see it.
He couldn't see it.
It hit him like a ton of bricks.
He was very unsure.
Right before my eyes.
And I looked at my co-host. I said, "Did you see what he did?" Yeah, I saw it. I said, "Wow, I I don't think I've ever seen it done that fast."
He thought about the budget.
I don't think I've ever seen it done that fast. Ingram, he was conditioned.
And come on, y'all got it.
Conditioned.
Guess what? All of us at one time or other have been conditioned.
All of us at one time have been conditioned.
Uh-oh. 1 Corinthians chapter 14.
This is going to be upsetting.
Buckle up.
Buckle up.
What does it say?
Let love be your highest goal right there. What a great way to open that up. But you should also desire the special abilities to uh the spirit gives. He used the word desire again.
He said love is first. Without love those gifts, you're just making a whole bunch of noise because he's telling you he's he's he's just got through teaching 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter.
Okay, this is where the church gets heavenly languages from. Although we speak of tongues of angels and tongues of men, I can't go into that because it always upset people when I tell y'all what that means. But you should also desire this the special abilities the spirit gives, especially the ability to prophesy. I wonder which prophecy or sigh this one is because if you think this is foretelling. I'm sorry. I'm sorry to tell you that you have not read this in the Greek.
It is not foretelling.
For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, all right, you will be talking only to God since people won't be able to understand you.
Here we getting down to some brass tax.
You will be speaking by the power of the spirit. But it will all be what?
Mysterious. This is where people get heavenly languages from. But one who prophesies though he's making a comparison here. Strengthens others, encourages them, comforts them. When somebody come over the pull pit, I've seen it done at the church. It's it was done in my church. the they called on the praise team to get up to sing and the praise leader said, "All right, we're not gonna sing today. We're going to just all speak in our heavenly language. Let's go." And all the praise team started speaking and the whole church was speaking in something.
Unfortunately, that was the wrong day.
You know why? Because it was time for voting. And y'all know what happens during time for midterm uh or uh what's that thing that you do before you do the main voting? You do the primaries who show up at your church.
So we had that whole front row filled was two rows filled because my church was one of the churches that they come to.
All right.
and two roles filled with civic leaders and Bishop Moody was sitting in the pool pit and they began to speak in tongues and I was on the organ and I stopped playing and I said, "Oh my god."
And Mish Moody put his head down.
I said, "Tonight he is getting ready to rebuke this house."
I said to my musician, both my musicians, Jerel Watson and Buddy Gil, I said, "He is getting ready to rebuke this house at night service." I said, "He can't do it right now because we got guests."
And when they got through, they didn't sang a song. They sat down.
I said, "This is ridiculous."
And then when it was time for Bishop to get up to preach, he said, "Now, I'm hoping you all come to church tonight because I I have something I need to tell you." And I said, I looked at my musicians. I said, "What did I tell you?
I know this man's heart.
We got the same heart."
I didn't realize that I had a pastoral heart all those years ago. That was that was about 20 almost 25 years ago when that happened. I didn't realize that I had a pastor's heart back then. I read him. I read him good. And when when we went to night service, he laid it into the people. He said, "How dare you?"
Based off of what?
Right here.
But it will all be mysterious. But one who prophesies strengthen. Why couldn't that praise team get up there and just prophesy? Says you're gonna do something out of order. Why couldn't you just prophesy? A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened what? Personally.
But one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens what? The entire church.
Y'all ain't liking this, are you? Huh?
Huh?
I know you're not liking this.
I he look at this. Look at Look at it y'all. Look at it. I wish you could all speak in tonesues.
Y'all like, "Why are you so against tongues?"
I wish we all could do it.
Pastor Quan, I wish we all could do it.
But I just read to you are all apostles.
No.
Are all prophets? No. Why is it that we don't go there? We never go there. Do you know what?
I never heard any church read from 1 Corinthians chapter 12 down at the bottom. when he asked that question are all I had never heard that verse ever ever until I read it about 20 years ago. It was hidden from me.
Whose fault was that? Mine.
It was hidden from me. So when I read it for myself, I said, "Wait a minute then.
Why are we getting up here making people do something that all people don't do, can't do?
But Paul says here, you must do it. No, he said, can y'all find the word in this sentence right here and put it on the screen?
Hm.
Can y'all put it put it on screen?
He said, "I wish." Why wasn't he telling them you got to?
When I was put out of Kendrick Church because of this topic, I was uh uh it was during morning service while my children were present and the scripture used was how can two walk oh clear faith you just you love getting in trouble.
He said, "I wish you all could do it, but even more, I wish."
Wait a minute. Did he just make a comparison?
Did he just say that prophecy was better than speaking in tongues? If you know English, it sounds like to me because he said, "But even more," which means better.
I wish that you would prophesy more. So wow this prophecy acts means fourth tale to preach the gospel is all is what he's saying here.
Cal says I don't like the way that verse is worded because it's given the the false context that praying uh praying in tongues to the Lord is a good thing. If you follow Paul, if you follow what Paul is saying, it's a negative cont context that is against spiritual gifts are not to build yourself up. Cal, you like getting in trouble too, don't you? He said, I don't like what the Bible says.
Look at this. But even more, he said, "For prophecy is greater than than speaking in tongues, unless someone what interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened."
It is too. How many of y'all need some milk? Y'all need milk? You got to say it that way. Dear brothers and sisters, if I should come to you speaking in an unknown language, how would you how would that help you?
H how would it help you? But if I bring you a revelation or some special knowledge or prophecy or teaching, that will be helpful, wouldn't it?
Even lifeless instruments like the flute or the harp must play the notes clearly or no one will recognize the melody. How many of y'all heard a song that sounded ridiculous? You didn't understand where this producer or writer was going. This lyricist, his lyrics didn't make any sense.
It didn't make any sense.
What's that old song?
I'm climbing up the rough side of the mountain. That don't make no sense because the rough side of the mountain is the easiest side to climb.
Why couldn't they say, "I'm going up the smooth side of the mountain." You ain't got nothing to hold on to.
That's the hardest side to climb.
And please don't give me that ridiculous song. Oh Mary, don't you weep. Tell mother, don't you moan. Well, that's beautiful. Oh, I love those lyrics. And then how did Pharaoh's army get in the lyrics?
What did Pharaoh got to do with Mary and Martha? He had been dead for thousands of years.
I'm confusious. He said, "So at least a melody is clear.
So this is what you should be doing in your churches. If you're speaking in a foreign language, I don't know what you're saying. You're speaking a mystery. You're speaking to God.
Mother Moody told me this the other day when I was teaching this at my church and I was I was walking on dangerous uh I was doing a acrobatic act because I can't teach this kind of stuff in my church. I got old folks there who they Ella Jones this is this is this is heresy. And Mother Moody said he's right. She said, "I you notice I don't speak in tongue over this microphone. I don't speak in tongues when I'm here at this church." She says, "If I do, I go in the corner."
She said, "Most of my tongues are done at home or in my car." I said, "Thank you, Jesus."
Because if she hadn't said that, that people would have thrown darts at me and kicked me out. But because Mother Moody said it, they said, "Oh, okay. Yeah, you you all right now." Why is it that she had to say it?
So play the note clearly so I can understand it.
And if the bugler doesn't sound a clear call, how will the soldiers know they are being called to battle? I need to understand that call. It's the same for you. If you speak to people in words they don't understand, how would they know what you're saying? You might as well be talking into empty spaces. Don't pray over me and start speaking in tongues. I'm going to rebuke you.
I've done it too many times. Don't do it over the phone. Don't do it in front of me. Don't do it over the microphone.
Don't do it.
I don't know what you're saying. And you There are people who speak in tongues, put their own flesh in there. Mother would say flesh. Put their own little flesh in there and they start speaking in tong. You could be cursing me and I don't know what you saying. So when somebody praying for me, that's why I don't bow my head and close my eyes. I don't do that cuz the scripture say watch and pray.
When y'all say bow your head, close your eyes. Not me.
Last time somebody did that, this woman got her purse though.
So they they lay hands on me, start praying. I had my w my eyes. I look like them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them them boys in the in the movie from the 1940s what are you what are you praying for mouse I had my eyes wide open hey what you praying for busting up the shift room I'm picking up over here ma my eyes was wide open now father I want you to bless him and I said okay I understood that now heal his body oh I got that protect him. Oh, I'm feeling that. And then my chandelier, show him the way. I said, "Oh, yes, Lord. Yes, Lord." And then I said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Can you interpret what you just said?"
Because I don't know what that is.
Anybody? Is anybody in the room? Could you understand what she's saying here?
Because she was doing good, but she went somewhere. I don't know where she's going. And and and if I don't understand where she's going, I cannot partake in this prayer. Take your hands off me. Oh, I'm sorry. Okay. You want to continue? I need you to continue in my language cuz I don't know what this is.
Next.
Don't do it.
Not to me. Y'all can do it among yourselves, but don't do that to me. I won't receive not no words you got to say.
If you speak to people in words they don't understand how they know what you're saying, you might as well be empty spaces. There are many different languages in the world and every language has meaning.
But if I don't understand a language, I will be a foreigner to someone who speaks it. and the one who speaks it will be a foreigner to me. And the same is true for you. Since you are so eager to have the special abilities the spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church. He said that in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 by saying covet since you eagerly you want it so bad.
So anyone who speaks in tonesues should pray also for the ability to interpret what has been said. Ah for if I pray in tonesues, my spirit is praying, but I don't understand what I am saying.
Did y'all see what he's saying here?
This what that woman was doing to me.
She was praying in tongues. So her spirit was also praying.
But I didn't understand it and evidently neither did she.
Well then what should I do? I will pray in the spirit and I will also pray in words I understand.
You get it? You see what he did here? He flipped it.
I will sing in the spirit. There's people who sing in tonesues. That's fine. And I will also sing in words I understand. Sing to the audience in English. And if you're going to sing in tongues, sing in the corner.
For if you praise God only in the spirit, how can those who don't understand you praise God along with you?
How can they join you in giving thanks when they don't understand what you're saying? You will be giving thanks very well, but it won't strengthen the people who hear you. So don't do it, y'all.
Everybody throwing clocks. Everybody throwing clocks. Let me Y'all, I got to finish this. I can't stop this midstream. This chapter got to be finished. Then I'm going to shut it down. I thank God that I speak in tongues more than any of you. He said earlier, I wish that all y'all do it. He said, but I speak in tongues more than all y'all. I'm I'm so thankful. But in a church meeting, I would rather speak five understandable words to help others than 10,000 words in an unknown language.
Y'all say he he he's bold. He boasting.
Well, look what he said in his boasting.
Dear brothers and sisters, don't be childish in your understanding of these things. Be innocent as babies when it comes to evil, but be mature in understanding matters of this thing. It is written, I will speak to my own people through strange languages and through the lips of foreigners, but look at this. This happened in Isaiah. I believe this is when he God took those uh rowdy children of his and put them in bondage by the bad bull.
Babylonians.
Maybe y'all missed that.
Line upon line, precept upon precept here, a little there, a little that whole thing. Stammering tongues. Yep, that's what that is. Y'all got this all wrong. Who taught y'all this? So, you see that speaking in tongues is a sign.
Here's where I wanted to end right here.
It's a sign not for believers.
That hurt.
Anybody else hurt?
my pastor. I'm going to be banned from Resurrection Sunday.
Y'all see this?
Y'all see that?
Not for believers.
Nobody read this in church to me ever.
And to this day, I have never heard this verse read in church. and I'll be 60 uh July the 1.
I'll be 60.
I've never in my entire life heard anybody read this verse.
Never.
They won't do it.
He said tongues is a sign not for believers but for who?
Unbelievers.
Acts chapter 2. They were filled and then spoke.
Y'all see that? Spoke.
Not baptized.
They had already been baptized. I read you to you. But they were filled and then spoke utterance.
And they spoke to who?
To spread the gospel? Unbelievers. And then thousands believed because these men were filled spoke to unbelievers.
You all have been filled in your churches and you don't do nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
You just sit on your behind with your tongues. And the next time you go to church, I thank God for being saved, sanctified, and filled, baptized with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.
Pray that I be the one the Lord called the last evil days. That's it. Monday through Saturday, you don't do nothing.
I'm sick of you.
That's what Pentecostal Sunday is supposed to be. Pentecostal Sunday supposed to be about you doing something, not just among the eklesia.
Get out there and spread the gospel. Why is it that when Pentecost Sunday comes, y'all are only talking about who gonna get filled with the Holy Ghost. That's all you think about. You want to reenact Acts chapter 2. And that tongue, not even the tongue that we see in foreign languages. Nobody's doing that in your churches. And then Monday, you don't do nothing but you go back to work to school, you work from home, you go to the grocery store, nothing.
and you talk about the Baptist and you talk about the Catholics. This is social conditioning.
Prophecy however is for the benefit of believers not unbelievers. So even so if unbelievers or people who don't understand these things come to your church meeting and hear anyone speaking in another lang they will think you are crazy. Those people who were running for office thought my church was crazy.
But if all of you are prophesying and unbelievers or people who don't understand these things come to your meeting, they will be convinced of sin and judged by what what you say. As they listen, their secret thoughts will be exposed and they will fall to their knees and worship God declaring God is truly here among you.
Y'all okay?
Everybody okay? Hm.
Hm.
Y'all need anything?
H anybody need some attention?
H Romans 6 says, "What shall we say then?
Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means. How can we who die to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized in Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? All of us. We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death. in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Y'all get that? One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
Y'all get that? Anybody understanding his words? I'm coming out of my mouth.
having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power working of God who raised him from the dead. You're chasing after something.
It's a social conditioning that you're chasing after. You wasn't taught right.
And I'm sorry that this happened to you.
I feel bad that you went through life thinking that you're not filled with the precious gift or baptized. They typically say baptized that you have been baptized for the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. But yet you said that you were saved. Somebody misled you. You got baptized mixed up with feeling. I read to you these scriptures. Now you be a good bereine and you come to your own conclusion. And you either going to call me a heretic or you're going to say, "I'm going to take this home and study this for myself and do some my due diligence." Let me read to you all what maybe um where is it? A concordance says about here. For we all for we were all baptized. Here's what King James says.
For by one spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been all made to drink into one spirit. All right? So when you go down here to some of the concordance, you'll see where it says, "For in one spirit," it says, "This phrase emphasizes the unity and work of Holy Spirit in the life of who? believers, you can't be saved and not have holy spirit that you are a freak of nature.
The holy spirit is the third person of the trinity actively involved in the process of salvation and sanctification.
The spirit role is a unifying believers in the fulfillment of Jesus promise in John 14 where he speaks of sending the helper to be with his followers. How long? Forever we were all. Baptism here is not referring to water baptism. For those of you who getting ready to send me some cards and letters, they can speak speak the word. It's not referring to water baptism, but rather the spiritual baptism because I saw it coming. The spirit said they getting ready to email you. Well, here it is right here, y'all. This ain't water baptism, but rather spiritual baptism that occurs at the moment of salvation.
Not tearing on the altar all night going along spitting and slobbing and foaming at the mouth at the moment of salvation.
I've been preaching this for a long time. I cannot be moved.
This baptism unites all believers into the body of Christ, the church. The concept of the church as the body of Christ is further elaborated in Ephesians chapter 4, which speaks of one body, one spirit. You understand? How can you be a part of a church and not be a part of the body?
You all just hanging around and you're not part of the club. You don't have a club card. You don't have membership.
You're just there. And this is why John says they left us. The reason why they left us because they were never with us.
There were disciples who saw that Jesus had talked about eating of his flesh and drinking of his blood. And the Bible said these disciples left him and never returned cuz they were never with him.
There are people among you and among your church in your family who say I'm a Moore. I'm a Gettis. I'm a walls. I'm a Mahome.
I'm a Jones. I'm a Johnson. I'm a Proctor. But there are people who the Bible says that Abraham had children that they were not Jews.
It was given to the promise. And there are people who call themselves Jews, but they are they are fake. They are phony and they are of the synagogue of Satan.
They don't belong to us. So when you bring people into your church and give them the right hand of fellowship, you're saying something and you may be bringing in a snake.
That's why the preacher would say, "Do you know the Lord?
Have you received him?"
Not a sinner's prayer, but have you truly received them in your heart?
You can repeat the words I say all day long and you can go away and and just be you can be the rattlesnake that you are.
I don't do the whole sinner's prayer. I need you to talk to God on your own, but I got to teach you who he is first so that you know who you're repenting to because we got too many false conversions at the altar. Anybody here want to be saved? They come down and they going to do it again next week and the week after. Anybody going to be saved? Hey negro, I'm sick of this ritual. This is social conditioning. It makes no sense.
Are you going to be with us or you not?
Is you is or is you ain't my baby?
Huh? Stop with all of this stuff. That's why I believe in eternal salvation. You can say what you will about it. You can write me letters. You can uh send me homing pigeons.
Uh Batman signs.
I'm just going to ignore you.
All right. Are y'all okay?
Huh?
Uh two things.
Um I think I saw my brother in there. He asked not my my blood brother but uh my brother in the gospel asked a question about the pope. You said are you what is it question for if no doubt you've been seeing secular news reporting about the speech Pope Leo?
Uh it has to do with AI. Yes, I agree. I agree with Pope Leo. I do.
And uh he said that it can be very dangerous and he's right. But he says but it also could be good. I agree.
Alter prostitutes candy. Yes, I agree. I use AI to benefit or to as a tool. I'mma play some AI today tonight. Well, in a few minutes because I'm getting ready to play a song that I wrote. Y'all have heard it already. But I use it as a tool but not as the main thing. I use it in school as a tool as a as a research tool to help me uh to uh put things in perspective but u I will get in trouble with uh they have they have software that knows that this is AI. All right.
And so you so I I I let AI write out something then I rewrite it in my own language. All right. So AI can be really good. The Pope is saying use it wisely.
Um and but but the problem is AI is trying to replace pe people which it is.
So I agree with the pope there my brother and also I did a show yesterday the show yesterday I talked about the country preacher.
Funny thing about that I was talking about our grace church. Remember I said the deacon Malik uh sent me an email and said uh thank you for exposing good preachers. He said my my pastor is a good pastor. Uh, I believe it's sound and and I went to the website. Remember I showed that yesterday and I showed y'all how wonderful laid out the website was and I said this is a country preacher. And as soon as I said country preacher, I promise y'all I do not lie.
I used to lie. I don't lie no more. I promise y'all. Holy Spirit quickened me and I ignored it because I should have said it publicly. I supposed to have said it. I don't know if this man have a degree because he probably have one. That's exactly what I wanted to say in my spirit and it didn't come out. So I started making analogies about a country preacher who don't use a whole bunch of scholastic words and he you know he just use simple terminology. He doesn't go into all that hermeneutics and inductive study and all that stuff and he just preach flatfoot and he go to your house and he visit he's the one that visit you at the hospitals and and the infirmed and and he goes to your house and pray for you. He serves communion. Remember I said all that yesterday and Holy Spirit said I told you don't just assume that because these people these preachers are are country that they don't. And guess what y'all?
The brother sent me an email and he blessed me uh and thanked me for uh leave a sound and I learned some things from that country twang.
And he says, "Oh, by the way, my pastor has a degree and he's an honorary graduate.
And I said, "Wait a minute." And I said, "You know what? Nope. I'mma do it on the show tomorrow. I'mma do it on the show.
Just wait." Because I I said it on the show yesterday. I need to do it publicly. And he sent me an email. He said, "Oh, yeah. My pastor has a degree." And you know what that does for me? That made me feel even better. I love it because there uh I didn't even know there were two pastors that I had been under for years.
Oh, sorry y'all. I'm buffering.
Ah, I'm so sorry.
