Mark, the weather is pretty crazy and uh really concerned about the possible change to the entire global pattern. Um, you and I have been looking at that. We haven't quite gotten uh >> details on what we think is going to happen yet, but we do have some hints.

[00:06:41]Uh one of those being that um it looks like we're going to get wetter and stormier. So, that's not really uh unexpected.

[00:06:50]Um there's Ginger Measure on with us.

[00:06:53]Says hello friends. Um, but anyway, uh, this also looking like a cool summer, but uh, stormier. So, >> I guess when you have storms, you have cooler temperatures overall. How cool? I don't know. This is This is from an a nino that looks like it's going to be the strongest in recorded history.

[00:07:21]And it's just now really developing. We haven't got all the data in on it yet.

[00:07:26]They're still analyzing everything that's coming in. Everybody says, "Yeah, it's a big one, but nobody wants to venture a guess as to what exact effect it's going to have on our climate." They do say it will affect the worldwide climate, uh, the weather patterns. Um, and it's going to continue to grow and get stronger all the way up into October.

[00:07:49]Uh, in fact, that's when it may reach its full strength. So, uh, it looks like that will be strong even on into, uh, the winter months. So, >> Mhm.

[00:07:59]>> it could get really crazy, you know, and I don't know if they can tell us exactly what's going to happen because it's never been this strong before. If if it's the strongest recorded history, that means they don't have anything to measure it by.

[00:08:12]>> Yeah. The last time it was even close to this strong was 1870.

[00:08:16]>> That's right. So, this is going to be kind of crazy. So, we'll see what happens. Um, I don't know. I'm just watching it wearily and I'm going to keep studying it and hopefully we'll have an idea here soon uh about it. So, why don't you give us a quick rundown on the weather uh that we can expect in the short term.

[00:08:36]>> Yeah, I was going to say that's in the long term. In the short term, it's been really nice today. Again, we got up into the middle to upper 70s in most areas.

[00:08:45]We'll get down into the upper 40s tonight. Cool, but not too bad. Thursday we'll about mid70s again. We got a little bit of a dry cold front going through right now. Uh Thursday night down in the around 50. Friday we are back up around 80 and low 80s, mostly sunny. Friday night we'll drop into the mid60s and we start picking up a 40% chance of storms late Friday night into early Saturday morning. Uh and uh that will be our next chance of any kind of precipitation.

[00:09:15]uh maybe about a 30% chance of uh showers or thunder showers on Saturday afternoon after 1 pm and then uh we start to warm up a lot starting early in the week. We're up in the low 90s forecast for Monday and for uh Tuesday.

[00:09:33]But again, we start seeing a chance of storms come in then and that's uh those warm temperatures are ahead of the next big cold front and big system coming in.

[00:09:43]That's when we could see some rain and some severe weather.

[00:09:46]>> Yeah, that's that's one I'm watching really close because with the warm temperature, that's something we haven't had in the last couple of severe events.

[00:09:54]Now we've got warm temperatures, we got cold air coming, >> a big contrast in the temperature differences, I would not be surprised to see that turn out to be a pretty big severe event, but we'll see. It's still early to say.

[00:10:05]>> Um, >> Michael Will be going up through that time period, too. So >> yeah, Michael Willlet is asking what happened in 1870. If you want to repeat what you said.

[00:10:16]>> Well, 1870 was the last really really strong El Nino that was uh they think was anywhere near as strong as what this one is going to be. Uh and they don't, you know, the weather records back then were kind of sparse. So they know there was an El Nino, but the exact effects of it, uh they haven't really said much about. Yeah, they're keeping unusually quiet. At least uh the chatter in in general is is unusually quiet about this. And that's because they're waiting to see exactly how this is going to uh play out. This is going to develop more into the Eastern Pacific. I'm sorry, Western Pacific.

[00:10:57]All right, hold on a minute. Eastern Pacific. Now I got it right. Near the coast of South Africa or South America.

[00:11:03]So, uh, that would make it I think that's what they call a Modokai.

[00:11:09]>> No, middle. That's right. So, I don't know exactly what that's going to mean for us, but we'll have to watch this and see. It's uh it could be significant and we'll see. Um, you know, we will definitely hear more about this as time goes on. You're going to hear more and more chatter about it among all the different meteorologists and weather entities out there. U, we're going to watch it closely. We will give you all we know whenever we we get to it. Uh I'm I'm studying it every day. I'm checking the the stuff. I have a reliable place I go to to look for this and u we'll see what happens. Um anyway, so it is a nice day out there.

[00:11:53]It's been fairly pleasant. Uh even now it's 79 degrees down in Stewart County.

[00:11:58]Look at across the uh woodlands of uh I believe that's uh I believe that's Kentucky Lake um that we're seeing off in the distance there. Um this is from a forest fire lookout tower and uh I can see why they'd have it there, but uh it's low here. That's probably going to be looks like that might be Barkley Lake we were looking at. So, here's where we'll see Kentucky Lake in this area. This would be Stewart. This would be uh uh Do, Tennessee. And there's Kentucky Lake right there as you can see. And uh boy, it's really green, but it looks a little dry down there on the forest floor. Uh we only have to hope that there's no wildfires that break out for this. Um April Lily says, "Good afternoon, David Mark. Happy midweek everyone. Chris Mitchum. I'm ready for a few days of big range to stand out in. And Mike Kinsley says, "Hi, David Mark. Welcome to everyone that's on the channel here with us. We do uh appreciate you being here and um we're going to try to give you the best. I don't know if that temperature gauge is right there. That's a little high. I believe that's >> Yeah, that was a little >> direct sun. Sometimes that'll happen."

This is a another one in do and uh >> it's possible the temperature all the way in far west Kentucky at the Mississippi River is 80. So >> Okay. Well, it's possible then. Well, it says 82. I guess that's not too bad. Um but um >> you're wondering what's significant happened in 1870. That's when the National Weather Service was founded.

[00:13:50]>> Yeah. February 9th, 1870. The first official uh weather reports were recorded in 1870 with just 24 stations in the US.

[00:14:02]>> Uh the weather highlights were January 17th of 1870, a devastating tornado struck Baron County, Kentucky.

[00:14:11]>> 50 homes and causing eight deaths.

[00:14:13]>> It'd be up in Glasgow.

[00:14:15]Mhm. Then spring summer, the US Midwest experienced one of the hottest and driest maze on record.

[00:14:28]>> Yeah, >> but this one being a little bit different pro maybe even a different area of the Pacific and being stronger than this one, the exact uh events of it may not be exactly the same.

[00:14:44]So, uh, again, take it with a grain of salt when you start looking at records and saying, "Oh, that happened this day, so we may see." No, that's not the way weather works.

[00:15:00]Here's 95 degrees over in Amarillo, Texas. Actually, Vega, Texas, but just outside of Amarillo. And you can see it is hot.

Then Friday night, we see a chance of rain coming in. About a 40% chance. Saturday, about a 30% chance of afternoon evening showers or thunder showers. And then the heat starts coming on early next week. High in the low 90s.
