NCERT Introduces Section On Emergency In Class 9th Textbook, Flags It As 'Challenge To Democracy'

NCERT has introduced a dedicated chapter on the 1975-77 Emergency in the Class 9 social science textbook 'Understanding Society: India and Beyond' for the first time, presenting it as one of the major challenges to Indian democracy when most fundamental rights were suspended, marking exactly 51 years after the Emergency was declared on June 25, 1975.
