Forecast: Afternoon and evening showersAdded:
Hello once again. Happy Wednesday. It's a beautiful forecast for today as the trees are now starting to leaf out and we have a very, very gusty wind. So, unfortunately, it stays quite breezy, but it helps to get us into the low 70s before rain takes over the forecast. We dry things out. We cool things down for Thursday into Friday. Highs in the 60s, but right where we should be this time of the year. The average high being 64 for Boston. And we're right on schedule with that. Well, yesterday we had a summerlike day. Today it's back to the spring air. Cold front ray way to our north and to our west will eventually make its way across southern New England. We do not see the severe weather from that cold front. The severe weather risk is farther to the south across the deep south in the Gulf Coast states, but we could see an isolated rumble of thunder, heavy rain, maybe a lightning strike anywhere south of the Mass Pike and south of Boston. So, keep an ear out, keep an eye to the sky. But those showers and downpours encompass the entire area by late afternoon today.
8:00, here comes the rain with the windswept rain. Gusty winds from the south. It's about midnight when that cold front sweeps on by. And then we have some drier air making its way across northern and western parts of the Northeast while lingering showers will be across Cape Cod and the islands tomorrow morning, eventually drying off later in the day. And we pick up about a quarter inch through tonight to half an inch of rain to the north and west where it's been raining for much of the afternoon. But high temperatures today soaring into the low 70s before all that rain moves by. And even to the coast, Northshore to the southshore, greater Boston, we're around 70°. More 70s to 60s across Worcester 65. Lemonster 69 degrees and more 60s to the south and east as well as the Cape and the Islands. That south wind transporting in the very mild air. Nantucket 61 and we wait all day long to get any rain across the islands. Tonight it's rainy. Temps remaining in the 40s to 50 degrees. So planting season's underway. By the way, if you haven't done so already, it's time to get the seeds out there in the garden. I planted some corn, some flowers by seed, and you're safe to do so in south and east and near the coast.
As you go farther north and west across northern New England though, planting season uh is of course postponed for just a couple more weeks. But things are looking good tomorrow, consistently remaining at least near normal for our high temperatures. That cold front moves away from us as we get into Thursday and Friday. And therefore, we have a nice dry day Thursday, late day. Friday, here comes an isolated pop-up shower or thunderstorm. And then we're dry for Friday night. Saturday, another wave of low pressure moves through very quickly.
Sunday, Mother's Day, clearing out the skies as a warm front lifts through the area. It's going to be a very warm day for Mother's Day. And then Monday afternoon, another chance for rain. So, an unsettled weather pattern sets up for next week while Mother's Day is in between the rain chance. 72 degrees sunshine for mom and a great gift for mom, right? 70 uh degrees, feeling good.
But then we're back into the 60s starting Monday and lasting through the rest of next week.
