SNEAKING NEW Winds and Waves Starters into Pokémon Sword

[00:00:00]Today I'm playing Pokemon Sword, but instead of choosing one of these three normal starters from Leyon, I've managed to sneak in a brand new starter from Pokemon Winds and Waves. Welcome to Galler. And Brout's not here all alone.

[00:00:14]Somewhere out in the Galler Wilds, Gekkoa and Pomon exist, too. And today, I'm going to catch them and test them out for the first time ever. But some of the people of Galler are already getting suspicious.

[00:00:26]Hang on. Did that thing really come out of an egg? It looks dodgy. That's right, Hop. And since it's a brand new Pokemon that we honestly know very little about, I'm just going to leave it all up to Brout and let it use whatever it wants.

[00:00:39]Come on, Brout. Don't let me down with this metronome here. Get something good going. Wonder Room. We're in Brout's world now. I don't think this is going to matter too much.

[00:03:53]You need multiple types to cover weaknesses. Now, as for your current partner, I genuinely cannot tell you which type. Yeah, I'm sure me using Metro and Sky Attack in that battle before didn't really uh do you any favors. 50 Pokeballs for a Wulu. Really?

[00:04:07]Well, he is the champion, so what do I know? I'll give you some more Pokeballs in return. I only ask that you'll catch plenty of Pokémon. All right, fair guys.

Of course, it appears the moment Hop and Leon run away. But I guess I'll be taking this one all for myself. Now, let's see. How do they say to catch a Pokémon again?

[00:04:33]First, you weaken it. All that good stuff. And grass knot. Actually pulling grass type moves with this thing is quite impressive. What's not impressive is that damage. How is this super effective and it did nothing? Oh well, let's try a Pokeball. Can we catch a brand new Pokemon with the first ball we throw? Two. Three. Please. Please. Yes.

[00:04:54]And a Pokédex entry. A recent discovery from the deepest reaches of the tropical rainforests. Sightings are rare as it seems to dissolve into ambient humidity when startled. I feel like this is a Pokémon that I would probably have seen in the forest with Zashi and not here.

[00:05:10]Oh, and here's the perfect chance to go ahead and use this thing. All right, Gekko. Let's go ahead and test you out against Jakey Boy over here. Oh, maybe maybe I should have healed. And wait, Bubble, but we can't use it. That might be a little bit of a problem. Route, I know I said I was going to use some other Pokémon, but I think I need you back here for this battle, bud. I'm really hoping that we get a redemption arc for Gekkoa, and as it levels up, it actually learns a move it can use in this game. But in the meantime, Brout, clean this guy up for me, will you?

[00:06:08]I have spent 43 years studying the Pokémon of the Galler region. I have read every paper ever published on Pokemon classification and I have never never seen this before. Leon. Yeah, be quiet.

[00:06:24]What is this dialogue? The shape, the proportions. It almost is reminiscent of a Rowlet. Can it even evolve? What would it even become? You know, Magnolia, you raise a really good point. But you know what's even better than finding out the evolution of a brand new Pokémon?

[00:06:41]finding out what its shiny looks like.

[00:06:43]The creator of this mod apparently made some really cool shiny versions of the Pokemon. So, before we move any Oh, and I heard something already. But like I was saying, I heard the creator of this mod really cooked up some cool shinies.

[00:06:56]So, I want to see if we can find ourselves a brand new shiny. Nope, just a shiny Squets. Now, you might have noticed already, but normally Pokemon Sword and Shield, they don't show the shinies in the overworld.

[00:07:11]And there's another one. But to make this more fun, we're playing with overworld shinies. And obviously, a little bit of a boost in shiny rates.

[00:10:11]Definitely another one that when Winds and Waves comes out, I don't think Shiny Gekko is going to look anything like this. But for now, it's really cool.

When you use Double Kick and you miss the KO by like that much. Also, I can't believe Gekko is level 12 at this point. And I still don't have a usable watert type move. No water moves, but we do have acid spray, which is definitely something. I don't know if this is hinting that Gekkoa might eventually become a poison type. That honestly could be pretty interesting. Give it that Quillfish typing. Your last Pokémon is Rookity. Wait, what happened to the shiny GUA? Hello, Galler from the sleepy town of Pastwick in the big 26.

Your mouth looks a little sketchy there, Pomon Bon, but overall you're still pretty cute in this game. But are you going to be really cute and get into the first Pokeball that I throw?

[00:13:10]Oh, you get a Pokédex entry, too. Pomon Bomb the puppy Pokémon. Inside of its lungs is an organ that generates heat, which causes the red area on its chest to glow slightly. Took me so long to find these things, and now palm bod are everywhere. Aw, they're such friendly little guys. Ooh. Ooh. And the shiny looks like Zoroa. Specifically, the Huian Zoroa. That is so incredibly cool.
