Psychological horror films create profound discomfort by presenting scenarios that viewers can see but cannot process or understand, exploiting the human brain's inability to make sense of events happening right in front of them; this technique generates lasting unease by violating fundamental expectations of safety and comprehension, making it more effective than traditional jump scares in creating memorable, unsettling experiences.

MEN: An uncomfortable psychological horror from A24/DNA Films • Spoiler-Free movie suggestion
Added:Until [music] you give your love, there's nothing more [singing] that we can >> I just finished watching 2022's Men and I'm still processing it. I I I [music] don't even know how to describe what I just witnessed. I feel like it's a crazy nightmare that doesn't make any sense, but it makes you feel very uncomfortable. So, that's the best way I can describe it right now. I went into it not knowing much about it at all. I guess I kind of put it off because I thought it was going to be like a she-ra anti-man movie. I don't know. I didn't know what it was going to be about. It's about this woman who goes to the countryside.
She's trying to relax and and focus and get out of a situation or mindset because her husband recently killed himself. And there is a lot that goes on in this movie. A lot of weird things happen.
It's one of those things where like a bad dream, like a nightmare. You see it with your eyes, but your brain can't make sense of it. There is a lot of that in this movie, which is actually my type of horror because what is more unsettling than not being able to process, to understand what's happening right in front of you. So, that is terrifying. One of the first things that happens, she's basically being stalked and she's handling it a lot better than I would have because if someone is chasing me in the woods and then I see someone standing there naked and he's just staring at me, I would not be okay with that. I mean, she does run away at first, but then she's a little more calm than I would be. This also makes me think um how it very it I'm sorry. I'm just like stumbling over my words because it's very weird. But, it's a good movie. It does make me realize that if it happened in America, things probably would be a little different because there is a scene where someone may have a knife in their hand and they're warning somebody else to stay away, I have a weapon. No, ma'am. No, ma'am. They would not get a warning of any kind. They would just be and dealt with. Um, so she doesn't have that type of protection. This is weird.
It is a very weird movie. A lot of trauma, a lot of guilt and gaslighting.
There's a lot of gaslighting in this movie, which is another horrible feeling when everybody makes you feel like you're crazy even though you know what happened. I'm trying not to give too much away. I know I gave away some of it already. But, there is a scene where her husband hits her in the face. And then another man in the movie asks her, "Well, did you even give him time to apologize? Sometimes men hit their wives. You know, it's not the best, but it happens. Maybe if you let him apologize, he would still be alive." Oh, hell no. So, that's that's the craziness that happens. Um, yeah, accidents happen. People say and do things they shouldn't, but nah. No, you're No, no, no, no. You're not putting that responsibility and that blame on me.
But, that's guilt for you. Guilt does a lot of things. So, there is a scene that happens in the end um, or near the end. I'm just going to tell you it's absolutely insane. I couldn't imagine seeing that on the big screen. Oh my god. I can't imagine people squirming in their seats watching this for the first time in the theater.
I bet that was something. So, yeah, you want to watch a really weird movie? Uh, it also makes you feel very paranoid.
Your home or the place that you're staying, that should be your sanctuary.
Even if it's not your permanent residence, you should feel safe. And when you see people on screen that aren't safe and they think they are and they don't notice what is happening right behind them, that's terrifying. This is one of the few movies in the last few years that actually makes me feel uneasy afterwards. So, it did its job. Want to watch a weird ass movie? Watch Men from 2022 right now currently as I post this.
It is on Tubi USA. Check it out. I I I apologize in advance, but it is definitely something you should watch if you are like me and like very unsettling movies. Go in as blind as you can.
Um there's just so many weird things. I like I said, I'm still processing this.
It's very creepy. Not what I expected at all. Um it enjoy Men and come back and tell me what you thought of it.
Oh my god, I was not expecting that.
Like I said, I'm still thinking about it. I'm still playing it out in my brain, but it's it's worth the watch.
Very dark, very much a traumatic past for this woman. And yeah, I feel really creeped out now. So, be prepared for that. So, thank you so much for watching.
I really appreciate it. When you watch it, please don't get mad at me. I warned you it was weird. Have a good day.
Bye. I don't even know what to say.
