New 4K Pickups + Physical Media Collection Update!Añadido:
What is going on you guys? Jordan over here at The Movie Den. I hope you all are doing well. Guys, today I got a little bit of kind of an unboxing collection update of some titles that I have recently got in that I haven't really showed you guys yet that I wanted to talk about cuz a couple of these I am very very excited for. We got some stuff from Arrow, some stuff from Second Sight, Kino Lorber, Imprint.
We got a lot of stuff to go over today.
So, links will be down below for all of these and let's go ahead and bust into everything.
Now, Imprint did send these two over.
These were part of their collection of like neo-noir films. If you guys saw those videos that I did a a little bit ago, they sent over a few different noir releases and this was supposed to be part of it, but it did get delayed.
So, that is Dark Blue and State of Grace. Now, State of Grace I cannot wait to check out. I've never seen this one, but you know, seeing the cast list watching the trailer, it looks incredible. A family ripped apart by violence, a love corrupted by betrayal, a friendship stained by blood. Now, this is part of Imprint's limited edition collection, so it does come with this top loader right here.
Now, this is going to be a 4K release.
I did already bust into these guys. Here is the backing card for this release and quite a bit of special features. You're getting some brand new interviews in here with one with the director and the first assistant camera. Moral Morality is the music of Ennio Morricone. Course, Ennio Morricone, if you guys don't recognize that name, the Dollars Trilogy. Interview with film music historian Daniel Schweiger. The Irish Game interview with producer Ned Dowd. Behind the scenes photo gallery, and all of that. Uh that's all the uh that's all the special features that comes in this release.
Now, like I said, this is going to be a 4K.
So, here is the case itself.
And then on the back is all the same stuff we talked about that it was on the backing card.
And then nothing too much on the inside.
We are getting our 4K and our Blu-ray right there.
Oh, and then inside artwork. Let's take a look. Usually they have something um for inside artwork, and here we got this. You've got uh Gary Oldman and Sean Penn right there, guys. Let me know down below, have you guys seen this movie? I haven't, but like I said, um very, very interested in this one. Oh, and then Ed Harris as well. And here is the hardback book we are getting with this release with some essays in here.
Uh let's see. So, like here you go, the battle days with some different shots from the movie.
There you are.
So, there is that, guys, and there's everything that is in State of Grace.
Now, next, this one is with Kurt Russell, and we have got Dark Blue right there. Sworn to protect, sworn to serve, sworn to secrecy. There you go.
Dark blue on the top, dark blue all that. Another top loader release from Imprint, and here is the backing card with all your special features. So, again, a lot of new stuff in here. Uh you're getting interviews with the director and the producers. Uh some of the one with one of the actresses, which is called the source of strength, settling the score, an interview with the composer, code blue archival making-of featurette, by the book archival interviews, necessary force archival interview with technical advisor Bob Souza, uh the fire next time, which is another archival featurette. Everything So, this thing is actually pretty loaded here.
And then here is the case right there.
He got Kurt Russell on the front, dark blue. 1992 LA is added to Boiling Point when cops turning up the heat.
All right. There is your 4K disc and your Blu-ray.
And then show inside artwork, guys.
And this one does have that State of Grace did not have is this comes with a with a poster here. And this is Okay, this is a pretty good size poster, too. Let's see. There we go.
Okay.
So we got Dark Blue. This looks to be like the same size posters that like um well, when Scream Factory did posters, when you would pre-order, a lot of times you would get a poster.
Uh that this looks to be that same size right here.
So we got our poster and then we also are getting just like the other release, we are getting right there our booklet for Dark Blue.
And again, essays in here.
Some shots from the movie.
So there is everything in Dark Blue. I want to give a huge shout-out to Imprint for sending these over. I cannot wait to check out, especially especially State of Grace. I'm telling you, that one looks incredible. But anyways, there we go. We've got State of Grace and Dark Blue, both from Imprint.
Okay, two films came in today from Kino Lorber. These two were immediate pre-orders for me. When Kino Lorber did Summer Rental and Uncle Buck, I was waiting for the day for this one to come out. This one had to come out after they did those.
And that is The Great Outdoors. This is a this one was played so much in my household. I love this movie. So we're getting this.
And then we're also getting this one right here, Terror Train.
There we go. So let's go ahead and bust these guys open. Now with them being a Kino Lorber release, I don't anticipate any reversible artwork. It's not that Kino hasn't done them. It's just it's it's pretty rare that they will actually do reversible artwork or anything like that. A lot of their releases are pretty bare-bones to be honest with you. They definitely do films that not a lot of other boutique labels would touch.
For the most part. So, there is The Great Outdoors, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy.
You got a great duo right there.
There is the back. This is going to be a 4K with Dolby Vision. In terms of special features, we're not getting a whole lot. Three different audio commentaries though.
One by director Howard Deutch and moderated by filmmaker Douglas Hosdale. Another commentary by Hats Off Entertainment's Joe Romani. And the other audio commentary by film historians Polly Anthony Nelson and Lee Zacharias.
Let's go ahead and take that slip cover off.
And there it is. Same artwork.
And you know, what we come to expect with Kino Lorber, the the simple the KL, the black discs right there. And yeah, no no inside artwork right there.
But that's okay. Very excited about this one. I really like that Kino has been diving into comedies.
So, that's awesome to see. The next one I'm a bit more excited about is Terror Train. There's the front right there.
Iconic artwork.
There's your back. Special features kind of bare. Audio commentary by Paul Corupe of Connectsploitation and film historian Jason Pakonski. Is that how you say that?
Audio commentary by film historians Alexander Hellan Nicholas and Josh Nelson. Got to listen to those.
Interviews with director Roger Spottiswoode. Is that how you say it? I think that's how you say it. I'm terrible with names, guys. And screenwriter Judith Rascoe and the actual trailer. Let's go ahead and take that out.
Same art Whoops.
Same artwork that's on the slip cover, of course.
And same kind of disc artwork for the 4K and the Blu-ray.
And just as expected, no uh inside artwork. Another bare-bones release from Kino Lorber. But again, not not necessarily complaining. Kind of what you come to expect with Kino Lorber. But the transfers are usually pretty good.
So, anyways, from Kino, we've got The Great Outdoors and we've got Terror Train. Okay, time move over to what we got from The Movie Room. We actually got two boxes. I have the other one right here. These are two separate orders.
Let's go ahead and bust into this one.
This one is something from Arrow Video.
Um now, when this first got announced, I was kind of unsure if I was going to pick this one up.
But after reading that the unrated director's cut did get a 4K transfer on that, I was like, "Okay, I'll pick it up." Plus, this is a fun movie.
All right. If you guys never order from The Movie Room, incredible packaging. I mean, you get in all of this in here.
Okay, wrapped in here.
And also in some bubble wrap. So, trust me, your stuff is uh is protected.
And plus, if you guys live on the West Coast, this is a great option because uh they ship out of the Bay Area in California. So, um you know, your stuff will get here fairly quick if you live over here as opposed to shopping from places like Orbit DVD and stuff. Awesome stores. I shop from them a lot. Just they take a while to get stuff on this side of the country. But you're also getting a Movie Room sticker right here.
And what did we get?
Nightbreed. Check that out.
I'm really excited about this, guys.
Let's bust into this. Now, I do have the Scream Factory one. So, let me know if this is a comparison you guys would like. You guys seem to really like my comparison videos so you guys can decide on which release to get. So, again, if this is something you guys want, let me know down in the comments and I'll definitely uh do a comparison video between this and uh Scream Factory's release. All right, there's a better look at that artwork. And look at all the special features we're getting for this. And what's great is as you can see, disc one, the theatrical cut, which is a 4K and the director's cut, which is also a 4K.
On Scream Factory's release, it was just in Blu-ray.
So, I'm excited to check it out in 4K finally. Um let's go ahead and take this outer slip off here.
Okay, of course, same artwork there.
Nothing on the back.
Now, let's take a look at the case.
There's going to be some reversible artwork so I will be switching that.
Okay, what's the uh little th- the sadness. So, there you go. That's obviously already came out. So, here we have the theatrical cut in 4K and the director's cut in 4K. Look at that.
That's some cool disc artwork right there.
Great artwork there, guys. We're going to flip that around.
All right, much, much better.
Next, of course, we are getting a poster with this.
This is going to be a double-sided poster right here with the commissioned artwork. Now, on the back, it is not the original artwork, but it is that disc artwork, which that is that is cool. I do really like that. So, awesome choice to put that on there instead of the original artwork. Okay, so there is your poster. And then, lastly, we are getting a booklet right here. Let's go ahead and fan through that.
There we go. Uh let's take a look at the table of contents here. Here we go.
So, we're getting cast and crew, The Monstrous and the Dead: Looking Back on Nightbreed by uh Mark Salisbury, uh Cabal the Delirium of Monsterdom by Phil and Sarah Stokes, about the presentation, production credits, and special thanks.
Check that out. And then, as I always say, I like to look at about the presentation to see kind of what was done to it. Cuz this will tell you if they got the transfer from Scream Factory or not. So, okay, both version presented in 4K. The theatrical cut master was restored from the best available elements by Shout Factory. So, there you go.
Uh the 4K master of the director's cut by ESC Films is a composite of the theatrical cut master and upscaled sections from the high-definition master of the director's cut produced by uh by Shout Factory. As the film elements for the unique footage were no longer available, ESC also performed additional grading on both versions. So, this this might look a little bit different than the uh Shout's 4K even.
Additional grading restoration was composed by Fidelio Motions. Those guys are pretty much like the industry standard there.
And um yeah, there's everything there, guys.
There you are.
So, Nightbreed.
So cool. We are getting a 4K limited edition of this movie from Arrow Video.
Again, guys, if you would like a comparison between this and the Scream Factory release, let me know in the comments. So, there it is.
Let's get a better look at that.
Nightbreed right there.
Now, we've got one more box to take a look at. Another one from the Movie Room. Again, I just want to show off the incredible packaging that the Movie Room does to protect your stuff.
So, movies are wrapped. Got stuff under there.
Okay, let's go ahead and unravel this.
And this time we're getting that sticker right there.
All right, guys. So, what do we get? I can't wait for this.
We got Insomnia and The Devil's Candy.
So excited for these, but I'm a little more excited for The Devil's Candy, so let's go ahead and save that one for the last.
And uh let's take a look at Insomnia. We have Stellan Skarsgård right on the front. Right there with Personally, I love that artwork. That is so cool.
Let's go ahead and get this open. Right, so there's everything that is coming in this release with the uh with the special features, new 4K restoration. Uh presented with Second Sight Films director approved a Shogran Dolby Vision.
Um let's see new audio commentary with the director and co-writer. Running on Instinct, a new interview with director.
Falling Into It, new interviews with the producer. A Private Prisons, Alexander Heller Nicholas on Insomnia.
Uh the director's short films Close to Home, Spore Close to Home, and uh and Near Winter. So there is that, guys.
Let's take a look at this artwork right here.
There you are. Nothing on the back. Just I like that a lot. Okay.
See what we're getting in here.
Now, with it being Second Sight, all of their releases come in digipacks.
Okay, right there. We're getting a 4K and a Blu-ray right there, which let me see if it says Um yeah, so the Blu-ray in here is going to be region B. I don't know if you guys will be able to see that.
It's a little region B badge right there. Uh so take that into consideration if you do want to pick this up.
Also getting some art cards. So nothing on the back. We'll take a look at them.
There you go.
Now, I haven't seen this one. I've seen the remake, so I'm excited to check this one out.
There you are.
Okay, and the last one right there.
Right, so there you are, and then lastly the booklet Second Sight in their booklets. I mean, they're like second to none when it comes to the booklets.
Uh let's go ahead and fan through that, guys.
There you are. How many pages is this one?
Uh 100 uh 114.
So, let's take a look at some of the essays. We're getting New Noir, Fragile Man, Forgotten Women, In the Cold Light of Day, Long Day's Journey into Noir, Insomnia, The Detective Inverted, Double Insomnia, Acknowledgement, and Production Credits.
So, there you go. So, there is the booklet, the art cards, and the Digipak that you were getting in this release of Insomnia from Second Sight. I tell you, it doesn't happen often, but when you get a new Second Sight title in, it's uh it's always a good day.
Okay? Now, let's go ahead and bust into this one, The Devil's Candy. All right, so with this release, we are getting, let's see, a new 4K producer-approved restoration, an audio commentary by director Sean Byrne, Into the Fire, a new interview with director Sean Byrne, Those Fragile Things, new interview with actor Ethan Embry, uh Devil in the Details, new interview with director of photography Simon Chapman, uh The Cutting Room, an interview with editor Andy Cannie, uh A Big Step Forward, a new interview with production designer Thomas S. Hammock, behind-the-scenes VFX, and Sean Byrne short films Advantage Satan and Work.
Right here. So, there's that.
This artwork, personally, I I I really do like.
So, there is the front artwork right there. And there's the back, not much on the back, the spine right there.
Okay?
So, here is your Digipak right there. Then we're getting our 4K and our Blu-ray. And uh let's see, the Blu-ray in here it actually doesn't say if it's region B.
Um let's see. Okay, here we go. Blu-ray disc region B. So, again take that into consideration if you do want to pick this up. Let's take a look at some of these art cards here, guys.
Again, nothing on the back.
There you are.
Yep.
And last one right there.
Okay. So, there is your art cards. And lastly, again, we are getting our booklet right here. Let's go and fan through that, guys.
There you go.
All right. And table of contents. For the essays, we're getting the father-daughter relationship in The Devil's Candy, the satanic ego, standing out in the crowd, Stephen Krasner artwork, and behind the scenes. Find what you love and let it kill you, the art of The Devil's Candy, The Devil's Candy and metal martyrdom, acknowledgement, and production credits.
This one uh this looks to be how many pages we got here? 114. So, we're getting a lot in this one as well. And guys, there is the last pickup in today's unboxing uh collection video that we've got. And that is going to be this Second Sight release of The Devil's Candy. And there is everything. I know we got a lot in today. This was kind of like I said, an unboxing of some new stuff I got in today, plus kind of updating you on some of the stuff that I got in as well. But guys, let me know down below, have you picked up any of these releases, uh some of the Second Sight releases, Nightbreed, you know, let me know down below. And then you guys also let me know, if you guys have seen this one, I'd love to hear your thoughts cuz I'm excited to check this one out. But anyways, guys links will be down below for everything you see here. And uh that's going to be it for today's video. I hope you all enjoyed it and of course you all take care.
