Drafting a running back at fifth overall is a textbook example of poor positional value that ignores modern NFL roster-building principles. This strategy prioritizes individual talent over the structural efficiency needed to build a sustainable contender.

🚨FINAL New York Giants Mock Draft | 2026 NFL Draft本站添加:
[music] >> Coming up on today's show, my final mock draft for the New York Football Giants as we are one sleep away. You're watching Giants Now by Chat Sports. I am your host Marshall Green and we are presented by PrizePicks. Today's mock draft is a predictive mock draft. Not what I want, not what anybody wants, what I think the New York Giants are going to do. We did this video in 2024 and I got lucky enough to have a couple of those picks hit. We hit on Malik Nabers, we hit on Andrew Phillips, as well as Theo Johnson. Last year, we got the first three picks correct. Abdul Carter at number three, trading back up for Jackson Dart, and then Darius Alexander in round three. Running back in round four, but the wrong running back. An offensive lineman in round five, but the wrong offensive lineman.
So, I've had a lot of success in the first three rounds, which means today I will probably wrong about every single pick. That's just the way that this goes. Before I reveal who I have the Giants picking, I want to hear from you.
Who do you think the Giants are going to pick? Not who you want, predict it. Who is Joe Schoen, John Harbaugh, Donna Palante going to select at number five?
Sound off for me. The New York Giants added another pick, number 10 overall in round one by trading for Dexter Lawrence. Now you have premium ammunition to kind of reshape and add some youthful talent to this team. You have a pick at 37, 105, 145, and then 186, 192, and 193 in round six. I used the PFF mock draft simulator, so don't be mad if some of these players, in your opinion, you don't think they will be there. Fernando Mendoza, he is going to go number one to the Las Vegas Raiders, so we can put that in stone. David Bailey wound up going number two to the New York Jets. Arvell Reese wound up going number three to the Arizona Cardinals. Sunny Styles went number four to the Tennessee Titans, which means the Giants are on the clock with some really good players left. And I believe if this is the way that the board falls, that Jeremiah Love will be the pick for the Giants with the number five overall selection. It's been sounding this way for a couple of weeks at this point, and I believe that Jeremiah Love is number one on the New York Giants big board.
They showed in free agency that they wanted to upgrade the running back position. They offered a multi-year contract with a lot of guaranteed money to Kenneth Walker before he went and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. They told you that they wanted to upgrade the position, and we know that they absolutely love Jeremiah Love. I also know that Caleb Downs could be the pick here as well. He is 1,000% in play at number five, and I'm not going to be shocked if they do go Downs over Jeremiah Love, but I just have a feeling, based off of everything I've heard, read, and understood, that Jeremiah Love is the player that they are hoping falls to number five, and they think that Caleb Downs could be there at 10. Jeremiah Love's the best offensive player in this class. He provides you another explosive offensive weapon to pair alongside Malik Neighbors, and both players can help Jackson Dart reach his potential. And I believe the New York Giants are also looking at this through the lens of we need to make sure that Jackson Dart has a bunch of talent around him. And that's exactly what Jeremiah Love has. He's the most explosive player in this class.
He's the best running back in this class, and I believe he is the best non-quarterback in this class as well.
He was dominant the last two years at Notre Dame. Seemed like every single time he touched the football, he could go the distance, averaging 6.9 yd per carry in the last two seasons, and 35 total touchdowns. He creates easy explosive plays. That's the name of the game on offense. When you create an explosive play, you have a really good chance to score points. You're building around Jackson Dart. You're giving yourself an identity, and I believe he is the player in this draft that is going to give whatever team he selects him the biggest immediate impact as well.
I answer the New York Giants are going to go with the number five overall pick, and I think it could go a couple of different ways, but I think that Jeremiah Love is the most likely to be the pick if he is on the board. We'll get to the other selections coming up.
First though, I got to tell you about our presenting sponsor, and that is PrizePicks, America's number one sports pick app in the game. Shout out to PrizePicks for sponsoring today's video. All right, final mock draft. Let's get to the 10th overall pick. I think Spencer Fano is going to go number six overall. I have Mansour Delane going number seven. I believe that they want to add another impactful player on defense. Could be Caleb Downs here as well, maybe even a guy like Ruben Bain. I think the Saint Saints are going to go offense with this pick. Whether it be any of the receivers, I think it'll be Carnell Tate. And with the Chiefs in a spot where they are usually are inside the top 10, they are going to take an explosive weapon to help Patrick Mahomes. They are taking Jordan Addison, and I believe the New York Giants are going to end up with the opportunity to select an offensive lineman, or maybe the player they have number two on their board in Caleb Downs.
I know there's a real chance that he falls. Right now, according to Las Vegas, Caleb Downs has the highest odds to be the number 10 pick for the New York football Giants. And I'm not going to be shocked if he is there, and if he is there, I'm fairly certain the New York Giants will select him, as I am pretty confident the Giants have Caleb Downs number two on their big board.
John Harbaugh only referred to one player in this class as a Hall of Fame player.
It was Caleb Downs. And he's only picked in the top 10 one time in his NFL career. And I think now that he is here with two picks, he is looking at these selections as potential franchise changers, and players that are the best in the draft. And if you could take Jeremiah Love at five and Caleb Downs at 10, you're walking out with the best two players. I think if Downs and or Tyson, if Downs or Tyson, excuse me, are not there, I do think the pick will be an offensive lineman. You're looking at Francis Mauigoa or Viliami Fehoko, the interior offensive lineman out of Penn State. If Caleb Downs is there, though, guys, he is going to be the pick, and he could even be the pick at number five. I think he's the best player in this class on defense. I think he is going to be the face of your defense for the next 10 years and John Harbaugh gets to add another very talented safety. One position that he has worked with a lot of talent before.
Guy started his career at Alabama as a true freshman playing under Nick Saban.
Over 100 tackles in that year. Transfers to Ohio State. He was the captain of the team that won a national championship in 2024 and then in 2025, in my opinion, he was the best player on one of the most loaded college defenses that you will ever see. Dane Brugler writes down, sees the field like it's a chessboard and plays with an exceptional combination of intelligence, urgency, and toughness, allowing him to be disruptive from anywhere on the field. His intangibles and on-field versatility will make him an impactful NFL starter early in his career. Maybe I am being a little bit blinded by what I want because one of my dream scenarios, if not the top dream for me, is Downs and Jeremiah Love. Jeremiah Love at five, Downs at 10. It doesn't really matter.
I'd love to walk out with both those players. But I think there's a real chance that Downs ends up falling to number 10. If he does, I think he's the pick and like I've said a million times, I think Jeremiah Love is who the Giants want most at number five. So, you're back on the clock with the number 37th selection. The way that I ran this PFF mock draft, I only did the top 10 by myself, then I ran the simulator and all the top defensive tackles were gone. But Lee Hunter out of Texas Tech was still there and I think you either have to take an offensive lineman or defensive tackle in this spot and Bresee was gone, Bessant was gone, and so was Keelan Ruttle. So, I settled on Lee Hunter, the Red Raider, who is one of the best in this class at stopping the run. I also think that he is a little bit underrated when it comes to his pass rush ability.
He's a big guy. He carries a lot of weight, but he's got a lot He's got nice feet. He's light on his feet as well, and he is quicker than you would think.
I think he gives you an immediate boost in the run game and an underrated presence as a pass rusher as well. And look, you're not going to replace Dexter Lawrence, but trying to rebuild that room, Lee Hunter will be the first building block and brick that you could build off of. Dane Brugler says Hunter doesn't have the pass rush skillset to consistently impact the quarterback, but he is instinctive as a run defender and has heavy hands to make stops at the line of scrimmage. He projects as a scheme diverse two-gapping nose tackle.
And the New York Giants, they are trying to replace a nose tackle in Dexter Lawrence, and you're going to have to do it with multiple people, but Lee Hunter is a good start. 10 and 1/2 tackles for loss in the Big 10 Big 12 last year, 2 and 1/2 sacks, 26 pressures, four three straight seasons of more than 22 pressures from that interior defensive line spot.
I like Lee Hunter a lot as a player. I think that there could be a potential opportunity to select a better defensive tackle or if they are on the board, but that's the way that this one fell for me. And I do think the Giants could also trade down from the number 37 overall pick to maybe try to add another third-round pick. That way you don't have any 70-pick gap between 37 and 105.
The board will dictate though if you go offensive lineman or defensive lineman.
If all the defensive linemen are gone and Bresee, Benton, and Rutledge are still there, you'll probably go offensive line and vice versa. If all three offensive linemen are gone and the best defensive linemen are there, you'll go there. The way it worked for me, the offensive linemen and the top defensive linemen were gone. Not a great way the board fell, but I would be super thrilled if Lee Hunter was the pick at number 37. Back on the clock at 105 at the top of round four, and I had the New York Giants selecting interior offensive lineman, another Golden Domer, Notre Dame's Billy Schrauth. The only thing that I think is holding him back from being a day two pick, round two or round three, is that he had a little bit of a knee issue in the second half of the season for Notre Dame. It was a I believe an MCL sprain. He's also had some ankle injuries that he's battled through. But, when you watch the tape and you look at the production when he is on the football field, you can make an argument that he's one of the better interior offensive lineman in this class. He was a team captain at Notre Dame. He plays a physical brand of football. Nice hand power. Some really interesting moments this past season and has upside. But, he has missed a lot of time in his career, as well. Dane Brugler writes, "Schrauth is solid across the board. He has the athletic ability, play strength, and demeanor to compete for NFL starting snaps if he stays off the injured list and reaches his development potential.
His game gives off Wyatt Teller vibes."
If the New York Giants can draft a guy like Billy Schrauth at 105 who could maybe be someone like Wyatt Teller, that would be an absolute home run for this team. I also don't really mind taking a riskier on Schrauth because you do have some interior offensive lineman on this team that are veterans that can fill in for him if there is an injury or two in the immediate future this year. I like Schrauth as a player. Um I'd love to be able to pick higher than 105, but we didn't do any mock trades in this one and this way the board fell.
We're going back to the the defensive line and we're taking one of my favorite players in this class. The only thing that holds me back from saying the Giants are 1,000% going to draft him is that he's under 6 ft 2. He's not the biggest defensive lineman in the world.
And that is Albert Regis, the nose tackle at a defense at at at of Texas A&M.
He is someone that I think is one of the best in the National Football league's draft class this year.
Excuse me. Against stopping the run. He uses the lack of height to his advantage. He plays with great leverage.
He gets under the pads of these interior offensive lineman.
He threw Francis Mauigoa to the dirt a couple of times when they played Miami this past year. He can line up his nose, he could shade over to the three-tech, and he is someone that if you pair alongside Lee Hunter, that's a great way to start rebuilding this defensive tackle room. Dane Brugler writes, "Regis is a compact plugger, and his lack of length shows on tape, but he wins with strength, leverage, and instincts to be disruptive versus the run. If there is a Poona Ford-like prospect in this draft class, it is Albert Regis. If the New York Giants can walk out of this draft with Poona Ford, I would take it. 49 tackles this past year as a Texas A&M Aggie, three tackles for loss, two sacks, 13 pressures. Not going to give you a lot of juice as a pass rusher, and probably not even a player that you want on third down and obvious passing downs all that much, but if you want to roll out with a heavy interior defensive line on obvious run downs, pairing up Regis with Alexander, as well as Lee Hunter, um that's a solid young nucleus of interior defensive lineman.
All right, to the sixth round we go.
Three picks for the New York Giants.
That is Dyami Brown the North Carolina Tar Heel cornerback falls to 186, and he is really one of the only players this year that is projected to be either a top a day three player or a priority undrafted free agent that the New York Giants held a top 30 visit for. And the way that I see the decisions being made for the New York Giants are that John Harbaugh will probably make the pick at five, and probably make the pick at 10, and have a lot of say-so on number 37 overall. But when you get to 105, 145, and 186, that's when you lean on your scouting department. And this scouting department identified Thaddius Dixon early and brought him in for a top-30 visit, showing that they clearly do like him. Dane Brugler says Dixon doesn't have a true distinguishing trait, but he is a solid but he is solid across the board and has the size, coverage agility, and toughness that will give him a chance to make a 53-man roster. He projects best in cover two looks, but shouldn't be a scheme-dependent player.
Started his uh our last two years prior to 2025 played at Washington, had some success there, 11 PBUs in 2024. Only played in seven games this past year for North Carolina, was dinked up a little bit, six PBUs, though. Two tackles for loss in 19 total tackles.
In this part of the draft, you're looking for people that contribute on special teams and maybe give you some upside on the defensive end as well. I think Dixon could maybe turn into a player that could play on the boundary in this league, but I know that he could contribute on special teams. I've got the Giants back on the board at 192 selecting Harold Perkins, the linebacker/edgerusher out of LSU. Runs a 4.340.
He was one of the best players in the country after his freshman season at LSU. And then they kind of moved him around on defense and they didn't really know where to put him when it comes to playing off the edge or playing off the ball.
For a guy that's 6'1, 6'2, 6' 225 lb, you're probably not going to see him playing on the edge all that likely. But like we talked about with Dixon, this is a player that I think could be a star on special teams due to his strength and his speed and his ability to tackle as well. And I think a creative defensive coordinator like Dennard Wilson could mix him onto the field in some early and or excuse me some obvious passing downs and just say pin your ears back and get after the quarterback and it doesn't have to be off the edge. Dane Brugler writes, "Perkins is a complicated NFL prospect. His explosion His explosive athleticism jumps off the tape, but he has a tweener skill set and comes with concerns about position fit at the next level. NFL coaches will need a clear vision and timeline for his development." And I agree.
You're going to need a defensive coordinator that has a plan for him.
And has a vision for how they want to use him as well. At LSU we dropped in coverage a little bit off the edge. He was also someone that would get after the quarterback. He would play off ball as well. I like him moving forward instead of backwards and I believe that John Harbaugh could see him as a special teams demon as well and someone that could maybe be a Pro Bowl player in that side of the football. The last pick we are going to make is Kobe Young, the wide receiver out of Georgia.
I just kind of finished up my day three wide receiver film this morning and Kobe Young, everything about him kind of says stay away. He's had some off the field issues. You'll have to double check those as an organization and make sure that those are A-OK. Didn't have a lot of production when it comes to stat-wise. He also had some injuries, but when he was healthy and he was on the field, this is a guy that pops off the page.
Dane Brugler compares him to Courtland Sutton saying Young is a big framed athlete with fluid long strides and strong hands needed to consistently come down with the rock. He's an attractive option for an NFL team seeking a player who's stylistically similar to Courtland Sutton. 6'4", 200-plus pounds.
This is someone that is great in contested catch situations.
He's got good body control. He can bring down catches that are 50-50 balls. He's got a long way to go to go and to develop as a player. He has to get better. You have to make sure the off-the-field stuff is not going to continue or wasn't maybe not even as seriously as initially reported. I know some charges were dropped, but shoot, in 2023, 47 catches for 563 yards, 12 yards and five touchdowns. That is good production. Had solid production as well as 2022. I am all about buying a lottery ticket in round six on a 6'4 player like Kobe Young, who some people believe plays a lot like Courtland Sutton. So, my final mock draft, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah at number five, Caleb Downs at number 10, Lee Hunter in round two, Billy Schrauth in round four, Albert Regis in round five, Darius Dixon in round six as well as Harold Perkins and Kobe Young. Grade this mock draft for me in the comment section. I want to hear from all of the real ones. A, B, C, D, or F. Finally, no more mock drafts.
We are on to the real thing. Only what?
