Art Plays Connections For Saturday May 23

[00:00:00]What's up everybody? We're going to attempt to solve the world, uh, not the world, the Connections puzzle.

[00:00:04]I actually feel much better, but I guess I still have a little bit of leftover brain fog from when I was sick. This is going to be for Saturday, uh, May 23rd, 2026.

[00:00:16]Here we go. Okay, some nice longer words, I like that.

[00:00:19]Okay, so first empire last um, beehive, wolverine, rather, bouffant, uh, preferably, nightcrawler, chignon, phantom, hawkeye, sooner, forester, daredevil, and pompadour.

[00:00:39]Okay, so we've got some French stuff, which is pretty interesting. We'll see how that plays out.

[00:00:45]And, um, I thought we've got this. The first Okay, oh, shoot.

[00:00:55]All right. We have an overpopulated category, I'm pretty sure. We've got um, state nicknames. The first state, that's Delaware. Uh, Delaware was, I believe, the first state to um, sign the or, you know, to become um, a state of the US.

[00:01:16]Um, Empire State is New York. Hawkeye State, I honestly I'm not 100% sure. And the Sooner State, they could be any one of like Iowa or possibly Ohio. And then I'm pretty sure there's the Beehive State.

[00:01:37]Okay, but that's cool though. I mean, we definitely have a category.

[00:02:05]Phantom Menace, Empire Strikes Back, Last Jedi, Rise of the Force.

[00:02:13]Maybe we could go this way, guys.

[00:02:15]For those Star Wars nerds like me, I bet we could go here cuz I don't really see what Phantom's going to do anyway.

[00:02:23]That looks pretty good.

[00:02:25]Empire Strikes Back, um The Last Jedi, The Force Awakens, Phantom Phantom of the Menace, or The Phantom Menace.

[00:02:39]I'm pretty sure that's correct.

[00:02:42]And then you would do First Hawkeye Sooner and Beehive, and then let's just see if we can figure out what's going on with the rest.

[00:02:48]There's got to be the word play cuz there's some French words here.

[00:02:51]Bouffant, Pompadour, and Chignon.

[00:03:32]Like pom-pom, chi-chi, boo-boo.

[00:03:44]Huh.

[00:03:51]And then we've got um Wolverine rather preferably Daredevil and Nightcrawler. Hmm. Hope these two that I already identified are correct.

[00:04:13]I I guarantee there's going to be some word play going on.

[00:04:17]Daredevil Nightcrawler Hmm.

[00:04:45]But it does make me believe that that cuz I can't see how the Empire last force and Phantom would really finagle their way in. So, I feel like we the other two were correctly identified. Hmm.

[00:05:03]rather Hmm. Daredevil Wolverine I don't think we're dealing with characters from I don't know, any comic books or anything. I mean, that could be, but I don't see any others.

[00:06:14]>> All right, I can't really see what's going on and so you you know, it's best just to start clearing out stuff to make sure that those were even correct. Are these words that appear in Star Wars movie titles?

[00:06:26]Yes, purple, too.

[00:06:29]Okay. Um Are these words that appear in um state nicknames?

[00:06:48]Oh, there's your There you go. Okay.

[00:06:50]That's why That's why I'm having trouble cuz that wasn't even one away.

[00:06:55]Ouch.

[00:07:04]Um Sorry, I just want to make sure that um I put a order in uh for DoorDash. I just want to make sure that they don't uh Yeah, okay, good. They shouldn't They might interrupt the lesson. We'll see.

[00:07:16]All right, so that's kind of kind of unfortunate. That spoiled the party, but maybe we have a better chance now.

[00:07:22]Beehive makes me think of a a hairdo.

[00:07:26]Hm.

[00:07:28]I wonder if the beehive would go with pompadour, chignon, and bouffant for like hairdos of all things. Oh, that's too bad about the states, huh?

[00:07:35]I I'm I don't think I'll be the only one to get fooled on that. And I'm pretty sure that those are all legitimate state titles. Oh, that's nasty.

[00:07:47]Okay.

[00:07:55]Sooner rather than later. Wait, hang on.

[00:07:59]Preferably sooner rather Huh. I thought that was like one of those phrases, preferably sooner rather than later.

[00:08:23]I don't think any of the others would fit into that phrase except would first fit in there.

[00:08:31]Preferably first.

[00:08:35]Preferably first rather sooner. Well, I don't know. I don't think so.

[00:08:44]Uh, but like they they're the words that sort of feel like they should go together in a way.

[00:08:50]Just because they're kind of normal.

[00:08:58]Huh.

[00:09:01]Hawkeye, Daredevil, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine feel like they go together just because they sound like names of I don't know, just creatures.

[00:09:16]And then the others could be here it is for all I know.

[00:09:22]Uh, okay.

[00:09:24]Let me think about that. If we were to do that, would that violate the fact that the Hawkeye sooner beehive and first?

[00:09:31]No, it wouldn't violate it at all because we'd only be using two from there, sooner and first.

[00:09:36]All right, let's give this a shot. I actually have no idea here. I'm a little nervous, but are these just part of a secret phrase?

[00:09:46]No.

[00:09:47]More readily.

[00:09:49]Okay.

[00:09:50]Um hairdos Oh, my god. [sighs] Holy cow, I got it.

[00:10:02]I don't know, like comic book characters.

[00:10:06]Marvel characters. Holy cow.

[00:10:09]Whoa, I was definitely supposed to fail that one, guys. Except for the Star Wars, there was no way I was supposed to get that. Hairdos, that's not my thing. I would I I I don't know what made me suddenly switch over to that. Definitely the beehive.

[00:10:24]These are like French words. I never even know that they were hairdos.

[00:10:28]And the Marvel characters, that's not my thing.

[00:10:32]I mean, the only Wolverine's the only one I I know of.

[00:10:35]I didn't even know that the other three were Marvel characters. Hawkeye I thought was like a character from MASH.

[00:10:41]And more readily, let me think about that. Okay, so we'd like to have it first, we'd like to have it preferably, we'd rather, and sooner.

[00:10:58]I sort of get it. I'm not going to, you know, complain too much cuz I I got a little bit of pushback on another category recently. So, I'll leave it to you guys, not me. I'll leave it to you guys to decide how appropriate uh more readily is for that.

[00:11:12]I'm having a little I'm at I'm a little bit of a loss, okay? But there you have it. Uh that's going to be a tough one.

[00:11:17]Okay, I think there there will be some issues for some people. I just totally got lucky because I suddenly realized that those could go with beehive for hairdos. I figured like, why the heck not?

[00:11:27]And then the rest of it fell into place.

[00:11:29]Wow, that's a tough one.

[00:11:31]And if you're not a Star Wars fan, that is going to be tricky. Although, you don't really have to be. I mean, I think pretty much everybody has heard of that Phantom Menace and The Empire Strikes Back.

[00:11:41]These, of course, are from the two most recent ones. This one I won't be ashamed to say out loud, was not at all a big fan of the three most recent Star Wars movies. You guys can chastise me uh till the end of day if you want about that, but I didn't like them. Let me know if you agree. I'm definitely an original trilogy guy. All right, guys. I hope you enjoyed that was a little tricky for me.
