Oo, look at that.
Greetings from sunny North Wales. I'm going to do a a sit rep on this uh progress on this TR8. Um what I've done is I've taken all the spark plugs out and cleaned them. Uh to be honest, I'm surprised it actually ran with the amount of carbon on them. um which I can only sort of put down to the fact that these chokes uh when I got the car were uh on. So it was just too rich mixture which uh what I've what I've determined.
So, uh, yeah. Um, in way of, uh, my last video, I showed them I put this coil on, um, this inner wing here, removed it from the original location, which is down there. Um, and I've remade the the connections.
Unfortunately, what I've found was that connector block um, wouldn't latch.
it just would not latch. Uh I got these years ago. Uh so they weren't very good.
So I bought uh these new type. So I'm going to uh obviously trim the lengths down and fit that block. Uh the reason I'm doing that is I tried to start the car yesterday and it just wasn't having it. Um, I checked the voltage down here, uh, and I wasn't getting anything at all. So, what I've done is I've remade this lead and these connections. So, that's all solid. Now, I put new spades on it. Um, so that's, you know, fine. So, let's get on with uh reducing the length of these.
That's one on. The only criticism of these connections is they are incredibly fiddly.
Oh, secured. And let's get the other one on. And she looks a lot tidier there.
I've just ran a test on the uh positive side, which I couldn't film. I can't do two probes and a a camera at the same time. But that is a good 12 volts. So, uh, the moment I've all been waiting for. Let's see if I can kick it up.
Here goes nothing.
First time.
Let's warm it up a bit. Sounds an awful lot better from here.
Up.
Well, she's running on all eight.
This coil is really, really warm.
Is that normal?
Let's uh kick her up and uh see what it's the same.
And there's the beasty.
Let's give it a couple of minutes.
My ear.
Now that coil is cool as a cucumber.
Now there's interesting.
Now on this one, the negative or the buster terminal is a yellow and white by the look of it. Busted one is a blue and white and the black and white.
And that is cold.
All right. So I found this coil in my uh garage. Um, I think I use this for a kick card I built a few years ago, 0507.
It's a DLB 120. Um, the terminals are different bloody sizes. So, yeah, that's a bit weird.
Do I put it on?
Let's have a think. Has anybody uh come across this before? different uh posts on the uh coil.
That one's a standard one. This one is obviously much larger. Um let's check my stash and see whether uh I've got a nut and a terminal for that. Little overkill, I know, but uh it fits.
Now I'm just going to drill out this uh terminal here.
Never ends. Slice overkill on that one, but it fits. Let's uh connect it up and see what happens.
Doesn't like that. She runs cold anywhere get anywhere near warm.
This one still warm. That's cool.
That one's cooling down. I'm going to um take this one out, slide this one into there, and then have a little think.
Take it was okay.
enough just rolling off.
See if I can get up on the uh advance as fast as I uh would like.
Just give it a bit more.
As you've heard, there are still definitely some issues, but uh it does run on all eight. I think it could be a a timing issue. I'm not convinced it's 180 degrees out. It just wouldn't start that easily. Uh so I'm going to have a little bit more investigation. Uh so with that, Tatty Bye from sunny North Wales.
