NC-Project effectively bridges the gap between obsessive completionism and formal game design by framing the trophy hunt as a structured roguelike loop. It is a sharp analysis that elevates the "backlog grind" into a meaningful study of psychological reward systems.

I Forced Myself to Platinum More of My Backlog!
Added:completing the platinum trophy on Far Cry 6 a few years back, I left all the DLC as it just wasn't really on my radar. But eventually, I did find the need that I had to just get it done.
There are four DLCs in total, and this one is Lost Between Worlds.
Instead of another island or another story expansion, you're thrown into a bizarre alien dimension after discovering a mysterious meteorite hidden beneath Yara. After touching it, Danny meets Fay, an interdimensional life form who crashed on Earth. To help repair her ship, we need to collect five shattered shards spread across a constantly shifting world. So unlike the base game, Lost Between Worlds isn't made up of traditional missions.
Instead, everything revolves around completing runs like a mysterious alien rogike. The overall goal is to recover five crystal shards scattered throughout this strange world so FA can repair her ship and escape Earth. Sounds simple enough, except every shard is hidden behind a network of branching paths. At the start of each run, you're dropped into the Nexus, which acts as your hub.
From here, you choose out several portals, each leading to a different biome with its own hazards. Some worlds are flooded and focus on platforming, while others are covered in deadly red crystals that constantly damage you along the way. The objective of every run is pretty straightforward, though.
Fight your way through each area, survive its environmental hazards, and reach the end where you'll either claim a crystal shard or unlock another deeper connection into the dimension. The catch is that not every path leads directly to a shard. Some are dead ends. Others loop back to the nexus, and some simply unlock more portals to explore. And here's where the rogike mechanic comes in. If you die before reaching an exit, the run is over and you're kicked back to the nexus. Thankfully, any crystal shards you've recovered also stay with you permanently. So, every successful run pushes you that ever so closer to completing the DLC. As you recover more shards, FA will reward you with permanent blessings. These upgrade and increase your health over time, improving your weapons and generally making future runs way easier, allowing you to tackle areas that would have been a nightmare earlier on. So, the gameplay loop becomes choose a portal, fight through whatever nightmare the world throws at you, collect a shard, unlock new route, return to Nexus, then do it again and again and again. But we're not just here to play the DLC. We are here to get all the trophies on the DLC. So, let's start there. Our first trophy comes at the end of the first rift, the fractured fortress, where all runs will start. Picking up your starting weapon, switch between the color modes depending on the enemy. Work your way through the various ways of getting to the top and then you see either orange or the blue portal. We will need to pick up shards in all of these paths throughout the DLC. Entering our first portal after the fortress unlocks the first trophy, refracted yara. We then enter the maze, a second area that changes at different points. Really easy level of just reach the center. You'll find a lot more enemies in this area from the first, but no puzzles. When we're in the center again, you'll see the roglike aspect of the two portals. Pick your poison and continue on. We enter the sunken Esparanza rift, which is nearly entirely all underwater. Advancing once again to the next rift, where it's on a timer, Death by Darkness. Again, lots of enemies in this rift. After Death by Darkness was completed, we enter the final rift as it's where the first of five shards will be located. We pick up the shard immediately, and it's basically now an extraction. Bank that shard and get the hell out of there.
When we get to the end, sprinting to the portal, it collects the first shard and pops the trophy. Now you're rifting.
On our second major run, our first trophy was Sun Striker, where we have to take out 20 defense units in one run of Death by Darkness. Death by Darkness has a premise of taking out defense units to stay alive. So, simply killing any unit you see will eventually pop this trophy.
There are plenty more than 20 units in this rift, so we get the trophy very naturally. And into our next rift, we have the opportunity to get the demolition's expert trophy for blowing up 30 defense units as FA in common fay.
Commodant Fay is a vessel shard rift and in it you can take control, you guessed it, of Fay. Every time you encounter a group of defense units, the timer will stop and you will use a little miniame to become Fay, allowing us to place bombs. Blowing up 30 enemies with these bombs will pop demolitions expert. And then we head back to the maze. While inside this rift, we have to melee as many defense units as possible. The animation for melee kills and normal melee kills will count for this where you swing your machete to take out the units. Taking out 10 defense units with melee attacks in one run, we'll unlock Mighty Minotaur.
And after we've captured a healthy amount of trophy pops for our second proper run, the final rift was dying shard. Yet again, achieving the shard very quickly into the rift and then getting the hell out of there, banking our second shard of the DLC. Our next trophy was Crystal Crusader for completing color combat without Danny's health falling to a critical level.
Color Combat is a vessel shard rift, which means again it's the last rift played during a run. This rift has a unique mechanic that allows you to have armor and be immune to the opposite armor color you are wearing. If your armor is red, it is immune to blue, and if your armor is blue, it is immune to red colored units. This trophy requires us to complete the level without Danny's health falling to a critical level.
Firstly, the rift is very straightforward. So, as long as you're patient, move slowly, it's not an issue.
Finishing the rift, getting another shard and of course the bronze trophy.
Now back onto our underwater level of sunken Esparanza. Here we simply have to swim to a depth of 185 m, which can be done when reaching the open depths area, unlocking the Yarin National Scuba Team Trophy. We then grab our run four vessel shard out of the Blackout Cave, setting ourselves up for run five. On run five, we gather the throwing axe. Now, this is a great weapon because it's going to help us get the trophy into the void.
You get into the void for taking out 25 defense units using gadgets. Now, the easiest one for me was the throwing axe because you can replenish it upon killing an enemy. So, we throw it at 25 defense units to get the trophy into the void. Another bronze for the collection.
Now, the whole point of this DLC is to collect all five shards, and we're about to do that. Our final rift was here, and completing it will unlock intergalactic mechanic for the collection of all five shards. And with that fifth and final shard collected, we finally return to Fay, only for the construct to completely flip out. It becomes the Dunia vessel itself, and Fay goes inside to help shut it down. Instead of the peaceful reunion we're expecting, we're thrown straight into one final boss fight. Endless waves of enemies pour in while we focus on exposing and destroying the weak spots whenever the opportunity presents itself. Once the final weak point is destroyed, the vessel collapses. The nightmare finally comes to an end and we're finally sent back home to Yara. Our reward, the fittingly named back home trophy.
So, our final trophy of the DLC was flawless clarity, a sub 15minute speedrun. The fastest way to do this is of course starting with the Fractured Fortress, sprinting through everything to the maze. From the maze, we'll run up into Storm Runner. Once you're through Evading All the Lightning, we'll get into Death by Darkness and of course the finale of Surging Shard. If you've done this, you'll realize how on point the final rift has to be. It is truly make or break with the killing. We managed to get it done on our very first go, which felt good. It felt good. Unlocking our final trophy of the DLC and getting our first 100% for the Far Cry 6 expansions.
Now, onto the second game of the video.
Now, before we get into the second part of the backlog and you've made it this far, I'd really appreciate it if you could hit the like button and subscribe to the channel. Well, I made it this far, didn't I?
>> Much like these legends who are part of the NC Collective memberships and Patreons.
Do you [music] remember dignity, sanity, a world of trust?
This is Monster Energy Supercross, a game I barely played and somehow had seven of 51 trophies. This is not a difficult game to platinum, which is why I thought it was perfect for the cleanup. A lot of these trophies are for winning certain tracks around a calendar, including Minneapolis and Atlanta. We unlock the trophy, a perfect start for achieving our first hole shot.
Aole shot is hitting the first corner in first place from the start. Back on the career, we keep playing until we win at Toronto, the beach of Daytona, Detroit, and St. Louis. And at this stage, we start really getting a hang of the game, despite having the difficulty set on low. We win the last two events of the career to pop two more trophies and the 250 East Coast Champion career mode trophy. We also hit a prestige level of 25 for the apprentice trophy, and you'll need to hit level 100 by the end. We then head through the other 250 event, but this time on the West Coast, doing exactly the same of winning all the events for bronze trophy after bronze trophy. And of course, finishing the career will get you the West Coast champion now. But we now ready for the big leagues, the 450 bikes. Signing up for our first season will unlock where do I sign? And quickly just purchasing a piece of gear will pop fashion victim.
Should have done this one a lot quicker.
All right, now we're racing in the 450s.
There are double the amount of races and some tracks we've not won at yet. After our first race, we unlock all that glitters for acrewing 500,000 SX credits altogether. And in the next race, my favorite trophies, random pops. For riding a total of 50 mi with any bike, we get keep it up. By now, we're stacking up the experience points and hit prestige level 50 for model student.
And winning our next race, it makes 25 main event wins in any game mode. This is for the trophy noteworthy.
After a decent amount of races and the 450 season over, reaching the podium places in the 450 career mode will unlock you on top of the world.
Alongside the trophy, a remarkable feat for completing one of the six different SX challenges. Ours was for winning the 250 and 450 career modes. We jump into the Indianapolis track to clean up a win we never achieved. We also turn the physics onto normal for a good double whammy of trophies. the track and then the professional rider. We then jump into a new race and have to run it to a last chance qualifier. This is done by coming last in the first couple heats.
And once we end up coming last, we get into the format of last chance qualify.
In this, all we have to do is qualify in the top four for the trophy until the last breath.
>> Now, creating custom tracks is a huge part of this game. Creating and testing five custom tracks will unlock the seems to be enjoying it trophy.
We then jump over to time attack for the American Kangaroo trophy. I >> I I see what you did there.
>> Making 50 successive jumps without taking a fall or using the rewind will unlock the goods. We then start the final grind and push for the last running trophies. This will be basically set in the custom created tracks by other players. We have to play a total of 30 of these for various trophies.
Thanks for coming was for the first time. Whilst running this very long created track to gather all those miles at the same time, we unlock 10 little hole shots for achieving what's said on the tin. Unlocking what many would find to be the grindiest trophy of the platinum, which was racing 300 miles on any bike. This would be inexhaustible.
And after we had raced those 300 m, our final created track was complete. And we had done 30, unlocking you're one of the family. But then there was one one trophy I was sure was going to eat up my time, earning a total of 3 million SX credits. However, I'd found a loophole by accident. [music] If you go into a race and abandon it, you still get the reward. And not only that, I was consistently backing out and re-entering new races in the 450 career for a huge 90 plus,000 reward every single time. a very quick loophole where it was registering me on the podium every single race even though I had abandoned it. This eventually unlocked our final trophy lap of luxury and the platinum supercross God. What a great time it was cleaning up these two games, one platinum and one 100%.
