Partly sunny, followed by a mix of sun and clouds with isolated rain chanceAñadido:
Your certified [music] most accurate forecast zone weather with chief meteorologist Chris Suchan. It was a busy night last [music] night in the weather center and still developing today learning that the tornado touched down.
>> Yeah, so we had the one it was in Guadalupe County. I do want to point out that in Kirby the weather service is still surveying that damage to see. So it could have been a straight line winds or maybe did we get a brief touchdown there. So regardless there was damage but that's underway. All right, so we go back in time again. This is one of my favorite maps. You see our drought conditions which we'll get an update tomorrow on with rain and we had two rounds of rain that of course moved across our area the severe line yesterday evening and then we had the overnight batch into this morning and that was mainly the southern half of the area but hitting the areas where we need to see that water extreme exceptional drought conditions. So really looking forward to not only tomorrow's update but next week. This rain here will be reflected next week in the drought update because Tuesday morning is the data cut off so that they could put that map together. So here's how much we saw across our area some of the totals a little less out to the west big numbers here down to the south 3-4 inches of rain 4 inches in Kennedy about 5 inches in Goliad. In San Antonio it was just over an inch of rain but some of you up around two little over two inches of rain in Bear County and it's some nice numbers here at parts of the Hill Country Eastern Zone and when we look at the numbers here for the airport just one single observation here the of course this doesn't represent the entire area but in San Antonio that's where the official observation is. It's almost a full gauge again and there's the surplus and for the year now over 15 inches of rainfall. These two months have really turned the corner here for us April and May. So the lakes well the lake that's seen the biggest increase is so far as way down south Lake Corpus Christi's from its low point of about 8.4% full it's now at 16 and still climbing. Choke Canyon up just a touch. Medina is now back to 4% full and Canyon Lake is sort of holding right now but the rivers are getting a little bit stronger so we should see some small increases with those lakes. And the Edwards Aquifer, you know, it was down to 624, so it's up about 16 ft since all this active weather's been hitting in over the past couple of months here, but still almost 24 ft down from where it should be.
Coming up, next weather maker will be a return to at least getting back into a few showers or a thunderstorm. Not a big enough setup where I have a weather alert in the 7-day forecast, but that's our next opportunity. Meantime, for zone weather watchers, how about our eastern zone in the 70s? Gordon Clark, uh we have Eddie there in Westhoff and Charlie Watt Jr. there in Cost in the 70s. Raul B. Rodriguez live with a camera view, beautiful day. And tonight may get some patches of a little bit of fog to start off your day tomorrow after some of this recent rain and light winds. So, Thursday overall is a pretty nice day.
Again, touch of some early fog, sunshine, and a seasonably hot day.
Number of areas of low pressure all around us, but ultimately it's drier air that's going to be winning out and coming in here. So, uh as we look forward here in the 7-day forecast, what you're going to see is, especially if you work outdoors or a contractor, you get to take advantage of some dry weather. Maybe it's some homeowners who want to mow their grass after all this rain. That lawn is singing to you, and well, we got the dry weather into your weekend. Next week will bring back that scattered chance. Western zone, it's going to be hot in the 90s. There's a chance for a weekend shower or thunderstorm, especially on Saturday.
Hill Country around 90 the next couple of days. Dry weather into the weekend.
And here's our eastern zone. We're in the low 90s starting tomorrow. Guys,
