We've got our number 15 seed of Tim Brewster and Ryan Aya facing off against number four seed of our tournament, Trevor Crab. And sure you've heard this name a bunch of times, Phil Dalhauser, or we're just going to call him Phil.

It's an elimination match here on court one as you take a peek at Trevor Crab back to serve the 6'4 defender from Honolulu, Hawaii now finds his home in Hermosa Beach. [00:00:55]Again, I'm Rob Sparrow Courtside here at our 2026 AVP Huntington Beach Open. We have some communication problems on the Aya Brewster side, but Aya drops the rock in that deep corner off of Crab, tying us up at once.

[00:01:34]Some excellent play to kick off the day in a women's elimination match with our Swiss wild card team of Anuk and Zoe Ver Dep Prey defeating Betsy Flint and Kylie Deberg. Two sets to zero as we look at Phil going to his hybrid off the cable saved by Aya. Aya soft knuckle winner.

[00:04:32]And one of the things I've seen over Trevor Krab's career as he starts off slow, not going to that full pace swing.

[00:04:40]He's like pacing himself through the tournament. And as he moves on, you start seeing a heavier and harder and faster swing.

[00:04:54]Talk about thread in the needle between Phil's left hand and the antenna. There was not a lot of space and Aya was able to sneak it off that outside hand of Phil.

[00:07:33]Interesting factoid. Tim Brewster did his undergrad work at UCLA. Was a training player for the beach volleyball team at the time. Stein Mezer.

[00:07:47]In fact, UCLA now the 2026 NCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Champions after winning in Gulf Shores two weekends ago, but I mentioned Tim Brewster because he did his undergrad at UCLA. Was a practice player for the beach team and then he went to law school. In fact, just graduated this last week from Lyola Marmont University Law School. So, he's ready to take on the legal world with his new jurist doctor degree because that's what we need, another attorney.

[00:08:21]But, uh, great hard work. He's still playing on the AVP tour. Don't know how he did it because law school is a beast.

[00:08:33]So, congratulations to Tim Brewster, the recent law school grad from LMU.

[00:08:47]As >> you look at some of the stats here, >> leading all players with kills, Trevor with four. He's hitting 571 and he's got four digs. So, he's hitting and digging like a madman out on the court.

[00:09:27]Wind kicking up just a little bit. So behind your camera view are a bunch of pin wheels for sail on the Huntington Beach Pier and they're spinning a lot more quickly than when we first started.

[00:09:53]Aya's AVP best finishes. He has a fifth three times most recently at Virginia Beach in 2025.

[00:10:01]as look at Dalhauser's option off of Aya taking advantage of him as he serves and has to make that trek to the net. So he doesn't have as much time to determine what he's going to take away as far as defense on the block.

[00:12:11]Anuk and Zoe move on into the bracket and we will see them again here on court number one.

[00:12:20]I believe that will be at 12 pm today after a couple men's matches.

[00:12:27]Got to start filling in my bracket as we track all the action here on court number one as the teams find their way out to the court again. We've got a 138 lead for our number four seed of Phil and Trevor.

[00:12:49]And our 15 seed, Ryan Ayerna and Tim Bruce are serving. And Aya serves that one into the net. 148.

[00:13:08]AVP best finish first place nine times at the most recent 2024 Manhattan Beach Open with Theo Brunner who just was on stadium court as Brewster drills it down the line into the Beach Juice popup stand. Again, we got pretty decent crowd here if you look at your view on that end line.

[00:13:46]Tim sat in and took the bullet, but there is so much pace on the ball.

[00:13:51]He wasn't able to cushion it up. Cushion it enough to keep it inside the partitions on the ball stop.

[00:14:43]>> Crab and Dauser hitting a combined 786 for the set >> versus 500 for Ryan and Tim as Dollhouser on the fadeaway blast. Seth started to drift off the net a little bit, but Phil able to turn his shoulder and crosscourt between area four and five. 17- 10.

[00:15:37]>> Looks like the wind is definitely picking up more, but it's coming more from the upper leftand corner of your screen down towards the bottom right. It was side to side earlier, but it's beginning to shift >> as you get later. It's an onshore wind, but more of an angle. Phil, perfect pass over to Trevor. Phil Tim gets underneath it on scoop, but it goes over. Trevor on two and Trevor with a termination. 1811.

[00:16:09]You're seeing the season vets conserving their energy here. They're not using a lot of extra energy and swinging at full pace.

[00:16:21]Maybe twice I've seen Phil swing at full pace.

[00:16:30]Shot out to the pin and Aya gets it inside the block. Trevor made that switch over towards that area four angle, but he wasn't shallow enough to get to it, so he tried to kick it up with his foot.

[00:16:43]1218 for Aya. Kill number seven is hitting 545 as he serves that one long. A lot of heat on that serve, but he's serving with a win. So that gave a little extra distance to the flight of the ball.

[00:21:32]And he goes over on two off the picture perfect dig by Trevor stepping into area two to pick up that ball. Popped it up perfectly and in tempo to Phil who just knocks it down easily.

[00:21:55]>> And believe it or not, that's only Phil's first block for a point. Although he's got three control blocks already started down for the match. They go up 5-2 on the switch.

[00:22:13]You have to wonder what Phil sees in his eyes when he reads >> because he takes away so much area up top of the net.

[00:22:22]>> And Brewster catching Phil pulling into the angle, hits it off the top of his knuckle dig.

[00:22:33]At first it looked like his dome, but his hat stayed on. was uh not affected by the shot.

[00:25:38]Seeing him coming up and taking that line and then that last second Phil put his eyes on the ball and ripped it crosscourt off the inside hand of Aya.

[00:26:49]Just get the sense that Tim and Ryan are in a good sight out rhythm right now, but they need to start scoring some points.

[00:32:58]So for Dalhauser, that is ace number one. It's our only ace of the match so far. We've got a timeout taken by Ryan and Tim trailing 1612.

[00:33:11]As you look at some of the action happening on the other courts here on the women's side, we've got a bar on court one. Haley Harward and Zelaniell facing off against Khloe Loren and Corin Quiggle. That's being called by Aaron Wexler. Actually, Harvard Odell just go up 21-20. They're serving for the set. And that's an elimination match on the women's side. Loser will get in ninth. Winner moves on.
