The Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970) was fundamentally a struggle for territorial sovereignty and self-determination, where the Igbo people fought to establish an independent nation-state (Biafra) after being marginalized within the artificially amalgamated Nigerian state created by British colonial rule. The documentary reveals that the war was not won through military superiority but through deliberate starvation tactics and economic warfare, with the Nigerian government intentionally blocking food supplies to Biafra. The speaker argues that the underlying problems that led to the war remain unresolved, and that Nigeria's continued unity is maintained through force rather than genuine national cohesion. The documentary and commentary suggest that the same forces that caused the civil war are now manifesting through contemporary security challenges, and that understanding this history is crucial for Nigerians to recognize the ongoing struggle for territorial sovereignty and self-determination.

Biafra War Documentary By BBC - Okocha Happy MarcelAdded:
This is the evening of Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026. Good evening everyone.
Surviving Bafra, Voices from the Nigerian Civil War. BBC Africa I documentary.
This is a documentary from BBC News. It was published on BBC Africa talking about what happened pre during an aftermath of the civil war that is popularly known as Nigerian Ambafra war.
Uh before the release of this documentary, there have been some speculations that this documentary is going to just be a propaganda or uh you know misinformation to the public. I've I've heard that from so many people. But you know, I'm a kind of person that I don't react to something if I didn't see it. Okay? So if I see something, I will watch it from beginning to the end before I can talk about that thing just for me to make sure that I know what I'm talking about. So as you can see here, you see it is 1 hour 15 minutes. I took my time, my precious time to sit down, watch this documentary from the beginning to the end. Now I am going to tell you that the mistakes in this video is just little compared to the reality in this video. There are some mistakes in this video like who shot first, who started the war. You understand? So it was a mistake. They put it that after the declaration Nigerian disagree and the the Bafan troops started fighting.
Okay, the the rebels started fighting but that was not the truth. We all knows the history. So no one can tell your history you know better than you. So that is a part and there are some some mistakes they really made. So if you watch this video, if you watch it from the beginning to the end, you will understand what I'm saying. This video was able to establish that Nigeria is a British contraption. Nigeria was not a country. British amalgamated Nigeria.
The documentary also established that there is a problem with the system of Nigeria that led to division, hatred and so many things. It talks about the coup and so on and so forth before the war.
So the documentary established that Nigeria is 40. That is number one. Then when it comes to genocide, the documentary established that there was genocide against the EOS, against the children, the bombing of hospital, the starving, the deliberate starving of the children. One of the veteran narrated on how they intentionally block food so that they can defeat them. So defeating Bafra was not because they were more powerful in arms. That is what this documentary is establishing. defeating Bafra was not because British army so many international army were supporting Nigeria. Not even that it is because they were able to block them out from food. Then Auo in this documentary they still repeated AO's video where Aw said that all is fair in war. It was fair to staff e children. It was fair to kill children. It was fair to massacre children. It was fair to bomb hospitals.
Why are the EOS fighting? Because they were pilgrims. They were threat to their life. The BBC documentary established that. And out of the BBC documentary, I want to add my own commentary as I speak to you. A wonder territory is under siege from by sorry by what the EOS we are running from what Ebos we are running from for what made the EOS said we want to leave Nigeria. I wonder who said that all was fair in war to kill their children. And today now in Abundo's territory what Eboss were protecting themselves from has before the southwest that is history and that is why they don't want you to study history in Nigeria but you know what we are going to tell our story more and more. So after that you know the documentary went on to explain you know deeper deeper things how they fought the war.
In fact, I will encourage you to go and watch the documentary. Don't let anyone to discourage you not to watch it. There are mistakes in the documentary. You know, people who bring the documentary together, they are human beings. In fact, I have so many videos documentarying like this. Apart from the images they shown, remember that in my channel, I have brought so many people to my live section. I'm talking about the veterans, Bafraan war veterans, those who fought the war and they are still alive today. I used to bring them to my channel. They talk about their stories, how they fought the war and so on and so forth. I have visited, you know, Asaba as massacre, you know, victims where they buried them with their names and everything. So, I know some things about um you know, the war.
My father taught me all these things, told me stories of this war. So, I know so many things about this war. Even though I am not alive then, I'm not on earth then, but at least history admonishes to us what transpired. And it is painful. It is painful not because there was a war. It is painful not because they fought a war. It is painful because the documentary established that the reason why Nigeria was fighting is just to keep Nigeria one and make sure that they never lost the oil in Bafraan territory.
Now I want to shock you why is it that BBC brought this documentary at this time at this point in time the world knows what is going on in Nigeria. The world understands that there are interest to turn Nigeria into terrorist stronghold. The world is aware about the Islamic sage in Nigeria by the extremists like Boohh Haram is like Mammuda FA initias and so on and so forth. They know what they want to use Nigeria to do. They want to remind you the history and they want to let you know that no that thing is not going to happen totally. There will be war again in Nigeria. Yes, I want you to save this video. May God keep us alive not to witness any war. But unfortunately with what is going on in Nigeria is not preventable. There will be war again. But you see only thing that can make this war not to happen is if Nigeria separate on time. This documentary is letting you to understand that the reason why they fought the war that the problem is still on. That is the purpose of this documentary. The reason why they fought the war, the problem is still on. The problem is still on. We are not going to be our be alive and some kind of elements who have sage in every state in Nigeria right now including Lagos will come out and conquer everybody. We die. We die. We die. You know my immediate family sometimes I used to sit them down and tell them all these things. You see in this life people must lose their fears.
People must lose their fears. You must lose your fear and know your history. It is very important. Every now and then I used to come out to tell people what is going on in Nigeria. I am telling them this isization. Nigeria is about to be conquered. There is nothing different going on today from what Osman did. Who brought jihad into Nigeria? Who came to conquer Nigeria? There is nothing different from what is going on right now. Absolutely nothing. There is nothing different. So as it was in the beginning and now, I will never say ever shall it be because it's not going to be forever.
Everything that has a beginning must surely have an end. All I am doing is to let people understand the problem of Nigeria. The government don't want you to know the problem.
They asked Sintu why what do you have to say about the terrorism in Nigeria the insurgency? He said there is no place in Quran where God says that people should kill.
He just tried to tell you that people are killing for religious reasons.
You are the one that fails to decode it.
Now during Ramadan the minister of defense currently Christopher Musa told the whole world in a press conference that listen these people are kidding because they are fasting. So they believe that if they die during the war they will go straight to heaven yesterday. The Euroba people that booh haram kidnapped in war community. They sent a letter to their people that they going to graduate them from Qurani school. This is Islamization. The world knows what is going on. Many Nigerians are blindfolded by political gimmicks.
But I laugh. You know why I'm laughing?
Because they will never find solution in what they engaging.
The solution lies in knowing the problem. There is nobody that have put out solution or solve an equation without a found without knowing the problem. You must be able to know a problem before you solve it. That is the reason why upon everybody is running up and down. People are praying are praying. People who are fighting are fighting and the thing is increasing.
It's enough for you to ask question. Am I really doing the right thing?
Absolutely. You are not doing the right thing because you don't know the problem. You don't know the problem. I know the problem. Yes, I know the problem. There is this statement that I used to make in almost all my video all my videos I used to make the statement quoting the mission statement of the Boohh Haram that is Jamai Islam. That is their real name. Boo Haram is their just nickname which means western education is prohibited. They said their mission is to overthrown the Nigerian government install an Islamic state which will be governed by Sharia law. Go and Google it and people in government are sponsoring them. They are romancing them because they have the same ideology.
So I am going to let you know that their mission is to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state. That is what Gwan fought for. Nothing more, nothing else. Gwan was pushed to fight by his people. Gwan said in a video that I did not make the decision by myself.
There is no how I wouldn't have gone into the war because we cannot keep on watching our people dying and not fight for them. That is why they went and declare Bafra. And I can tell you categorically clear that what was happening before it is still morning now. and tell me if all these things you people are doing did not work. If you protest it not work, if you do voting, it not work. They are sticking you at the end. Everybody go still resolve to war. Everybody go still carry arm. So I'm just telling you now, go and join a security outfit. Join vigilante, join national hunters and learn how to shoot gun. Now I'm not a wararmonger. I'm telling you the reality. I'm telling you the reality where foreigners who who came out outside Nigeria because they said they have their brothers who are in Nigeria they will come and join them they will go to your village rape your mother behead your teachers and everybody's keeping quiet we no I don't want to use some statements but we not well we're not well at all like something is wrong with us these people just enter your community do whatever they want to do anyway time shall tell. I encourage you to go and walk watch the BBC documentary, but it's a a painful one. Okay, that is you have to hold your tears tight. Okay, you don't have to be emotional while watching this because it's an emotional sad a very sorrowful video to watch because of the reason they fought the war. Not because of Nigerian troop they kill, not because of the people they destroy with. Not because of children that stab to death.
Not because of Banan soldiers they killed or massacre. No, it was just painful because the reason why they fought the war to keep Nigeria won. Nigeria has never been won. So the war was a useless war. The most useless war I have ever seen. What were you fighting for?
What were you fighting for? Gwan is alive today.
And to the greatest surprise of everyone, he ran out of two states. His people have been massacred. Every blessed day, every blessed day his people have been massacred. He ran. He leave his people. He ran to London.
If he comes into Nigeria, security will be guiding him. He He kept Nigeria one for his people to die. What a coward.
I'm sorry to use this word, but that is example of a coward. You make sure that Nigeria was one and your people are gone. And you didn't Gwan can't stand up and say anything about his people dying and his people don't know that Gwan is the problem. Gwan is the problem. Gwan is the major problem. Gwan is the reason why Nigeria is still one today. By now I think Bafra, Oduda or Awa should be competing with Japan, should be competing with North Korea because that is what it gives you when you know some certain people who have their the same ideology the same mindset if they find theelves in the room they will build they will build mountain they will build mountain with rocks out of nothing. Now let me leave this thing for you. If you're a Christian, you must have read about the tower of Babel in the Bible. The Tower of Babel, I don't just see it as something that happened reality. But I learned a lot of lessons from the Tower of Babel.
Everybody we were speaking in one language and they said, "Let's come together and build house to London. Let us just build continue to build. We'll get to where God is in London." He said God knows that whatever a man conceive in his heart and they come together in unity they will be able to achieve it.
What happened? God have to put confusion and change your language. You people don't understand because of that um they could not achieve it again for me. I don't understand why I don't see it the way you see it. I don't interpret it the way you interpret it. I interpret it in this way. I see it as when you have a common purpose to something. You speak one language. You have one ideology. You can do anything. You can raise your country to the highest. You can just move mountains. But when you speak different language, there is nothing that will work. Because if this one said go and bring knife for me, this one will go and bring stone because this one sees stone as knife. This one sees knife as stone. How can we move together? This story of to Bab is just an example why Nigeria can't walk. It can't work be dreaming your ignorance. See, I am not interested whether you people say they should not divide Niger into I don't want to be with Euroba people. I don't want to be with people. If you they want to divide Nigeria, if they divide it into 200, do you know the purpose why I continue to advocate for the division of Nigeria is because of territorial sovereignty. Without sovereignty, you saw this sponsored by Nigerian government and foreign powers. They are going to finish your people. They will enter your village. They will kill your mom, kill your father, kill your family, rape your people, destroy your family, take over, rename your community, change your kill your boot. I'm telling you, it is going to happen. It is going to happen. And nobody's going to save you unless you save yourself. And the only thing that can make this thing not to happen is if everybody understands this problem on time and start resisting it, which will lead to war. I have told you people time without number that anybody that enter as the president of Nigeria and want to solve this problem at this level it has generated to there will be war and that time they will say I thought the certain is not good now there is war now there is more problem because these people have infiltrated anybody that we enter and said I want to remove these people war will break out in Nigeria war will break out so whether a good man or bad man entering next Nigerian president there will be problem sometimes try to sit down and study what is going on and study and focus what is going to happen in future by what happened yesterday.
Yesterday for me is an experience. Today is an experiment. Tomorrow is an expectation. So use your experience in your experiment to get your expectation.
See you on my next video.
