Windsor Castle, a royal residence for 900 years and home to 39 monarchs with 11 buried there, offers visitors a glimpse into British royal history through its state apartments, St. George's Chapel, and the Changing of the Guard ceremony; however, photography and videography are prohibited in the state apartments and chapel due to security concerns and the royal family's continued residence, requiring visitors to rely on notes and memory to document their experience.

EXPLORING WINDSOR CASTLEAdded:
Well, good morning. Welcome back to the channel and to another vlog. So, we are following on from the last vlog where we had a little stay at this beautiful hotel. We are up and ready to go down for breakfast. So, I was up early. I went down to the pool. Didn't take my camera or anything. Also, there's people down there doing their morning lunch, so wasn't going to record them. But yeah, went and used the pool this morning because I didn't get to use it last night. Can you hear the plane? We're on a flight path.
>> Yeah, I've heard a couple of planes this morning. Um but yeah, we're on a flight path. Didn't interfere though. It's not terrible. Um but yeah, so didn't get to use the pool yesterday cuz it was just rammed. But yeah, it was it was still busy this morning. Um but yeah, had a nice little dip this morning and now I'm all refreshed and showered and ready for the day, ready to have some breakfast.
Um, the bed though. Can we just talk about the bed?
>> It was not comfortable unfortunately.
Gorgeous room, gorgeous hotel, really uncomfortable bed. Um, but you know, it is what it is. We didn't sleep that brilliantly. I think Chris was up every hour, weren't you? Yeah. He's just a bit lumpy. We're used to our um Emma mattress now, so it's like But anyway, it's fine. It's fine. We're going to go and have some breakfast now. So, I think it's like a buffet breakfast, isn't it?
>> I think so. We'll see. Um, so let's do that. Have a little wander around the grounds this morning. Um, and yeah, then start our day and then go to the castle.
So, let's go. Right. Nice bit of breakfast to start the day. Well, we've had our breakfast and now we're going to have a little stroll. It's quiet. It's not so quiet in the restaurant, mind.
There are lots of families here this weekend. What you just picked up off the floor.
What did you find?
>> A coin.
>> Windsor Castle.
>> Oh, yeah. Um, yeah, there's lots of families here cuz I think >> Yeah, I didn't think >> they're going to either Legoland or Thor Park cuz they're >> nearby.
>> This is in the middle of the two.
>> Yeah. Um, so yeah, it's very busy at breakfast, but it's okay. It's nice and quiet here, though, isn't it?
>> Look at the faces on the trees.
>> What they need to do is make it like luminous tank close up at night. That would just creep people out, would it?
>> That's funny. Let's head to Windsor Castle.
We have arrived at the castle just there. And all around here, the visitor entrance is down there. They're calling people in for the half 10 session. So, our tickets are for 11:00. So, he said we've just got to wait 5 minutes and then we'll be allowed to go in. Uh for tickets, it was Β£32 per person. And what was it for the yearly?
>> Not too bad. Oh, I thought we had to pay an extra couple of quid.
>> No, you print the >> print the ticket out.
>> Yeah.
>> Sign it.
>> Yeah.
>> And then you when you check in now, that's your yearly pass.
>> Oh, okay.
>> I think if you want to book later on, I think you can use it and it might cost you like a pound.
>> Oh, I see.
>> For like a booking if you want to come later on in the year.
>> Oh, I thought you had to pay an extra couple of quid. No, there you go. So, you can use it all year, which is good.
>> Only if you print it off and sign it.
>> Yeah. Just waiting to get our tickets scanned.
Oh, look.
Queen.
Current king and queen. Right, we're through security. There's a little security like bag check and night scanner thing.
>> Wasn't going on holiday.
>> We weren't going on holiday. No. Um, and now we are just heading round to the castle which is this way.
Enjoy a queue. Right.
The queue was for the multimedia guide which you get as part of your ticket. So welcome That's what you found earlier.
So, Windsor Castle has been a royal residence for 900 years and 11 monarchs are buried here.
>> 39 have lived here.
>> Oh, yeah. 39. I missed that video.
>> Do that one again.
>> Oh, yeah.
Oh, tell you where to go next.
>> Yeah, you either go to George's Chapel or there.
>> And they're the state rooms and they're open today. We're going to do state.
>> Oh, yeah. That would be cool. Walkway is really pretty, isn't it?
If you were to walk around.
>> An old moat.
>> Yeah.
>> It's really pretty. Look at it down there.
>> Yeah. It be an old moat, wouldn't it? I think >> that's really pretty down there.
>> That's really pretty down there. Look, with all the >> I don't know what flowers they are down there, but it's just very like >> whimsical.
>> Oh, this is exciting. We've got some guards coming down.
>> Look at this.
I got you.
>> Where's the castle?
>> Post box here.
I wonder if you send something from Windsor Castle from that post box. I wonder if it gets like stamped differently, like marked.
You know what I mean?
Oh, wow. This is the queue to the state rooms.
Well, that should go pretty quick.
What's in the state apartments then?
Uh, Queen Mary's doll's house, China Museum, Grand Staircase, Grand Vestibule, Waterly Chamber, King's Drawing Room, King's Bed Chamber, King's Dressing Room, King's Closet, Queen's Drawing Room, King's Dining Room, Queen's Gallery, Queen's audience Chamber. There's loads.
Oh my goodness, look at all this.
Wow.
>> Just been listening and there's no photography or videoing in the state apartments. So, I can do the doll's house, I think, but um all the other rooms. You're not allowed to take any pictures.
Oh, no. Not allowed to take any pictures.
Oh, looks like I'm um being like put in prison here. So, we have just finished in the stateaterooms. You are not allowed to take any kind of photography or video footage or anything. There are guards everywhere and people are really respectful of that. Um, but I will tell you a few bits about it. Probably when I get in the car now and I'll insert some pictures cuz I took some notes because it was really interesting. This like um media guide is really really interesting telling you all the facts about the castle. Um, we're just overlooking now.
What's my turn?
>> I think they're in the archway. I think they are coming out. You can see it.
Lean to the left a bit.
>> Are they changing the guard? Are they going to pick him up?
>> Yeah.
Right.
>> I've never seen a changing of the guard before.
What are they doing?
Awesome.
You can't hit anything.
Where do they come through this?
>> What's that? hand short.
>> Just in case you fancy a little bit of shortbread while you're out.
Love it.
>> Oh, look at these.
That's not bad. These >> Charles Christmas decorations.
That's pretty.
very careful.
>> I may or may not have purchased a couple of things from the shop. This bit here reminds me of Tower of London. You know when you come into the Tower of London?
Yeah, it's very similar.
So, we are now heading to St. George's Chapel, which >> is this way, >> right? Chapel's this way.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we've just been inside the chapel again. No photography, no videography or anything in there, which I understand, and you have to be respectful. Um it's beautiful in there. We saw um Brenton saw the tomb, Queen Elizabeth and Phillip. Um that was quite >> Yeah. You see the stone?
>> Yeah, you see the stone there. It's quite I don't know. It just gives you a weird feeling. And then as we were walking through the church, I remembered um Prince Phillip's funeral, you know, with all the lamps and Queen Elizabeth was sat on her own cuz it was like co I just Yeah. I just had that that image and I was like, "Oh, it's weird as we're walking like down the center of it." Um, but it's beautiful in there. It is well worth the money here. I'm just sad that obviously you can't film a lot of stuff, but I understand in the same breath as well. Um, but it's been really, really insightful. I've really enjoyed it. Have you enjoyed it? Yeah.
What these buildings are?
>> They look very tudory, don't they?
Wonder if they're just offices.
Hello. So, we are back home now after our little trip to Windsor Castle today.
I have a feeling that this vlog is going to be quite short and sweet though because I didn't actually realize I think I mentioned earlier, but I didn't actually realize how much you couldn't take photographs of or film in there.
Um, which is fair enough. Obviously, it's all security and you know, the royal family still live there in certain areas, so I get it. Totally understand.
Um, but did have a great time. It is well worth going to visit just to see everything. The rooms, the state rooms are just amazing. I spent so much like looking up at everything, all the details. I took a couple of notes actually as I was going around because um it just interested me everything and I was thinking I want to remember certain bits. Um for instance, I didn't realize that Prince William is actually the hundth knight of the realm. I didn't know this. Um, we saw the first painting of Queen Elizabeth, uh, the first Queen Elizabeth from when she was about 12 years old. Um, obviously they had the great fire at, um, Windsor Castle, and that was in, I think it was in 1992. So, it actually set fire to um, one of the rooms called the lantern lobby, which is actually used to be Queen Victoria's private chapel. Um, so yeah. So apparently it was it was how it set fire was a spotlight caught fire on a curtain. Um so that's how it caused a blaze and it damaged the lantern lobby.
Um the roof at St. George's Hall um which um what have I put here? I'm trying to read my notes. Um thankfully it was already under maintenance and so most of the paintings and the artifacts were already in storage in St. George's Hall, but the grand reception room uh was also devastated in the fire and that was actually a ballroom, but now they use it to do the you know when the king does the night hoods and the obes uh that actually used to be a ballroom and that's called the grand reception room. So that was devastated in the fire as well and it took them 5 years to restore it all um do all of the ceiling and the gold leaf and all that kind of thing. So yeah, I found all that really really interesting and the stateaterooms where they have meals and they had like all the tables laid out and everything and I you know you can just imagine it all and and then going to the chapel obviously I said when we were in the chapel it was quite I don't know I got like a little shiver when we saw um like the stone for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and then when we actually walked through the chapel remembering you know the funeral and everything. It was just Yeah. Yeah. It was just a bit surreal. Um, but anyway, yeah, enjoyed it. I had I did buy a couple of bits. In fact, I thought I would end this vlog with a little bit of a Windsor haul, if you like. So, I got a few bits. So, I got a few bits yesterday. So, I got So, we went into Oh my god, I can never remember how to say it. Sostrin Greens.
Sustrin Greens. You know that shop that is a mixture of IKEA meets Flying Tiger?
That shop. So, I got some napkins. Look how pretty these are. And these likeΒ£1 something. They were 127 each for these.
Really pretty napkins. So, I got some of those. And then I got I got a little lemon ornament. And I got this because I thought this would be great decoration for my soaps because I'm going to bring out a lemon soap and it's going to look quite similar to this but a bit smaller. So I thought that would be quite good when I'm when I'm taking my like promo pictures and stuff.
So I got a lemon.
And then uh if you saw the last vlog, we went to a place called house house of windsor.co.uk.
This is all like stuff that we brought back. We didn't buy a bag full of stuff from there. I bought one thing. I mean, I could have bought the entire shop.
It's absolutely lovely in there. But I bought a coaster because it was just so pretty. And I thought, "Oh, look at this. Isn't this coaster a little bit of me or what?" So, I got a coaster um from House of Windsor. Yeah, go and check them out on Instagram.
Their interiors are just stunning. Um so, that's what I got in Windsor. And then at Windsor Castle have a little bag and I bought three things. I bought a wooden spoon.
It was $4.95. I'm going to put that in the pot. It's going to just live on the pot. I don't think I'll ever use this.
It's just for decorative purposes. And then I got a soap. I had to get a soap because it's got like a little Buckingham Palace seal on there. And honestly, this smells amazing. This smells almost as good as a Love Emma soap. In fact, it probably smells better than Love Emma soap. Fig and grape smells amazing. So, I think that was um how much was that? Β£7 something like that for that soap. And then I got a jam because why not? Why not get a little Windsor Castle jam and then you can reuse the pot because it's got, look, it's got on the lid. Windsor Castle. I can repurpose this and make this into a candle or something and have like a Windsor Castle. I think the jam was Β£7 as well.
Yeah, I got a strawberry strawberry preserve with a little with the little royal seal of approval. So, there we go.
That's everything that we got from Windsor. Um, I hope you've enjoyed these two uh Windsor vlogs. And like I said, this one might be a little bit short and sweet, but thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend. Um, so yeah. Anyway, going to love you and leave you. Thank you for watching. Take care. I will see you guys in the next video, whenever that may be. Have a lovely day and rest of your week, and I'll see you soon.
Bye.
