Architecture and Economy update coming may 13th!!Added:
Uh, welcome everybody. Uh, I wanted to do a longer video uh to announce sort of the release date for the next big update for Bullwark, which is coming May 13th, which is next week. Um, so let's just dive into it. And I hope I don't forget anything because there's lots of small changes in this update. Uh, but they're quite meaningful. U, let's start off with the most obvious one. Uh, the water looks uh, yeah, I have to put a lot of effort in making the water look good.
Again, there's a little bit of work to prepare for ship shaper. I wanted to, you know, do some work and make it look as good as possible on the nautical front. So, uh, upgrading the the wave system and just make it look so much nicer, uh, is going to be a major thing.
Um the core of this update I at the moment I'm calling it architecture and economy or economy index which is really lame because I can't think of a better name but basically let's start up with that u of the system that is in place u the resource if I it's hard to show but the entire network nodal path uh nodal economy system which transport goods has been overhauled so uh there was some jankiness due to performance performance but now it calculates the the most uh uh how do you call uh efficient route and any tower will be supplied from the highest source so there's just any source so no longer of that fighting or where you have I have a trade route and then it's coming from this and that and and it's picking up plus one but there's plus 12 from this other location that should be solved I have no quick way of showing you this uh but that's that's that's a main thing uh the other thing that's happened is that uh any trade routes do I have any uh I can't uh is the the income from trade which if we go to inventory let's see uh uh I haven't I'm not trading much at the moment u has been uh I'm still tweaking it might be a bit wide but it's now dependent not just on uh and I've got the sniffles by the way sorry uh but it's also dependent on the length of the route how many resources the captain on how much uh uh uh uh trade you actually uh income you actually receive. So it's a it's much more a little bit more challenging system where longer trade routes pay more etc etc faster chips already gave you more trade income. Uh so just a tiny bit more death but that just feels a little bit more uh realistic. So those are the core economy. Uh oh no that's not true actually. Uh let me go to uh where something is coming from.
Uh if you are uh upgrading your uh Oh, they don't have wood. Why don't they have wheat? Wood. Uh they Let's upgrade our wood first. Where's the wood coming from? I guess this one. Uh oh yeah, plus three. So uh previously uh someone asked a long time ago uh and I'm trying to not to show the other new feature uh if second tier so like second generation uh towers could uh also spawn uh let me see if I can make that uh uh also revealing a little bit of the the other news thing u so this should now technically be able to spawn uh also resource production buildings like spawned on the uh on an actual how do you call it foundation. So foundations may spawn actual resource gathering and it doesn't need to be directly as long as it's in the zone. U uh so that that offers new opportunities uh for resource gathering. Um uh uh and it's it's a little bit more harder now to up the number. Uh well, you know, wood in the in the previous builds would go up to plus 20 in, uh but now you can have a little bit more variety in how you create your resource nodes. Uh and they're not as, you know, spam and fill.
Uh there's a little bit I won't but there's a little bit more effort where connections count and uh stuff like uh this may also work but this is too far away and you have to still have to fill the zone but uh yeah it should be a little bit harder and just a little bit more challenge. You shouldn't get plus 20 without and you know those just it was quite easy. So uh definitely some balancing there. Um uh yeah need to grow up I think. Uh, I was working on a more uh, how do you call impressive system still? Uh, let's see if I can uh, I can't show that because it's not finished. I don't know if it will make the update of the 13th, but that you can have top tier resource buildings as well that spawn if you have all the resources coming into a resource area. I think that will be nice. Uh, oh, let's grab this guy when he Oh, he's not forg sale. Um, so that's that's that's a thing that's happened. Uh, I saw some guy is for sale here. Uh, let's talk to this. I have a warship. It's the DLC dreadnot. Uh, excellent. We're going to assign him to this route actually.
Assign officer.
Uh, and if we go to uh, so this is the other. So that was the basically the economy bit. Uh, I just want to show you this. You can now sail uh as a prelude to ship shaver uh sail any ship you have that is assigned to a trade route. You can just click it and sail away uh and it'll fire its guns uh and it'll have different speed and uh stuff like that. So, uh, that is I think I don't know if it's been requested, but, uh, this is because when you were, if you build something in ship shaper, you export it to pool, I want you to be able to instantly test out that ship.
Uh, and what you now can do. So, uh, and look how nice the ocean is has become just by uh, you know, by virtue of this.
So, imagine this uh, to be your ship shaper ship. you design in ship shaper my new uh which has a free demo but no export until release uh where you'll be able to design your own ships for in your own world to sail around trade fight or explore um I think uh yeah so that's an effort is going in there and that's benefiting bullwark because you know the ocean looks great something like this like that ship control I don't know why I didn't do it two years ago but it's it's great uh we already saw it for a minute so that's the ship building. Uh let's see if I not forgot.
There is more that we've added. So all the wall building has been updated to try to be smoother. Uh and but that also includes let me see if I can make it happen.
God damn it. Uh trying to show this right. Uh I hope I'm still recording. So I didn't have enough space on this tiny island. um curved walls. So, previously doing like the fifth part or something would give you curved wall. Now, any wall can curve and the amount of curve is like a continuation. Can you see how it's trying to follow the curve of the uh and it so if you bend it basically, we don't have enough resources. Let's conduct it. So, you can still make great straight connections if they're long.
Uh, but you have this option and we can go up here and it'll still curve.
So, we can have a curved uh let's see if we can go all the way. I don't know if I have enough stone for this. Oh, let's go to the stone. Where where the stone come from? This blue. This is the stone harbor. [snorts] Oh, sorry for that. So still. So let's upgrade this. Uh uh and so you see if you make the angle more than 90Β° it's straight. If you just follow the curve uh you can uh go all around.
Uh let's let's uh let's see.
So and then uh so this one is too long but that's okay. So there's that you'll understand the rules of the filling ground but like I said you I can continue this but then it becomes straight again. Uh it's actually quite quite nice and you can see some of the smooth the vertical smoothness that it that it's trying to make more attractive. Sometimes it's not perfect yet.
Uh but you can start from a higher level and fix it out usually maybe from the other raid. Like I said, I've still got a week. [laughter] Uh but look at that. Uh and let's see.
Did that upgrade much? No. That's all we still need to do. The star is still the And so like if you don't want this curve, just move it backwards so that it's like you can fiddle around with it and then still have the straight lines.
But I didn't want to add any buttons to it like you know me. So uh so that's going up to plus six. Uh let's see if we can All right. So then we we should have a lot more wood now. Uh um so uh curved walls. Uh hopefully better walls. Like I said, it sometimes it got really janky. It will still do that, but it's trying to make more interesting curvy bits.
Uh, like I said, you can still have straight bits. We can go up again.
Like I said, well, let's remove that.
Why is it not removing?
Oh, don't know why that happened. Um, like I said, [laughter] I've added a lot more complexity to the game. Uh, so curved walls. Um, uh, you can also see some of the DLC I'm preparing. Uh, uh, look at these little medieval houses that sometimes pop up. I have the the DLC is coming out this summer later. It's a little bit of a back burner project, a medieval themed uh, DLC. Uh, so more architecture stuff uh, to go. I hope I don't forget him. So all the towers are a little bit higher nowadays.
Uh oh. So uh so I have a this is for the medieval DLC. You can have square towers now. Uh but you can also when you cap just quickly by pressing the build button once cycle through all the available tops. Caps I'm calling them.
But you can also cycle through. Let's build this one up actually. So we can go higher and height is dependent on uh how many foundations there are, how many houses basically.
So hope that still works the same. Uh and while we're doing this, I wanted to also show uh so uh you can actually there's more tower segments. So I wanted to show that. Look, there's a little G galleria.
Let's cap it. Uh, so there's a few more bits and bobs. And if you want to, you know, have the same bit. Oh, that's that's not what I wanted to do. God damn it.
Okay. So, if you want to change it, just hold the the build button, uh, add that floor and cycle through what you want. Let's have a plain wall.
Uh, not plain.
So, I have some plain pieces. I think these are too busy. Not the fat piece.
Oh, another galleria.
Uh, there's actually a neutral piece in there like this. So, we have a little bit more options, but I'll be adding more over time, but it's just having the system uh there. Uh, and that works nicely with uh, you know, I don't know up So, looks good. Uh, and uh, yeah, that looks quite nice. And then, well, you know, we can see if we can uh, can we have a curved wall coming off of there? [snorts] Oh, it's already curved up.
[laughter] Oh, no.
And what I'm also doing if if you uh if we remove this cap and do the medieval DLC cap, this now will turn this area into a neighborhood. So any connected tower, this is going to be a bit tedious, but it's like I like doing things uh without buttons. So if you have that cap around it, it will spawn more medieval bits. Uh but it also will start smalling near not excl that's ugly. Uh not exclusively but actually what this uh uh these medieval houses will spawn and form a neighborhood in the connected towers. So it's a little bit larger than one tower. So that's how you thematize once that DLC comes out. But there will be a other themed uh uh cap and neighborhood theme uh uh which you get from these craftsman sailors that come up. I added a new one which is green themed like green buildings. Uh they aren't showing up for some reason. Uh but they will it's a fresh save. Uh and uh the other thing that will happen is that the the existing craftsman houses will now also cluster and have their own cap and then they come up randomly. But if you really want to have that neighborhood effect, just change that tower into the cap of that type. And uh yeah, that's what you get.
Oh, wrong tower.
So, and of course, curtain walls now also curve if you want to. Uh which I think looks nice. Um so that is let me see. Have I done all the architecture?
uh new houses and new neighborhoods. Uh quite a bit of improvement. I I also saw a re negative review a while back.
Someone said, "Oh, it's a great game, but then this guy spent years just doing combat and aggressive and I just want more stuff." Fair enough. I hope this satisfies that I'm not just making the wars better and stuff. I did that in the repair man that also made the waves more intelligent. So that's when you come back into bull work, lots of things are different. Uh the total conquest mode is a lot more challenging. Uh it's not just a you know uh uh regular waves. They have more they'll defend themselves. Uh oh, he's can sail around. Uh I'm thinking I'm forgetting something.
Curved walls. Economy. I'll have to check my list. Uh new ocean. Uh lots of new bits and mods in the building section. Uh yeah, and like I said, I'm still adding things now and then. Um uh there'll be hopefully I'll be able to add a few more tower bits and have more of these sort of weird tower uh changes.
