The Pitch Block is a versatile guitar effects unit that offers multiple applications including octave shifting (both up and down), virtual capo functionality, arpeggiator capabilities, and various delay/reverb effects like Crystal Echoes; it can be positioned before or after the amplifier to achieve different tonal results, and can be paired with other effects on separate signal paths for layered sound creation.

[music] Heat. [music] >> [music] >> I wanted to talk about a block that has multiple multiple uses. Uh, these videos are brought to you by G66 UK, which is your place to get a FM3, FM9, Ax 3 in the UK with no weight list, or an AXEX or a VP4 and AM4. Uh, and a pitch block will feature on most of these. There's two pitch blocks I think on the Ax 3. I guess we'll start off with what we could do more traditionally with a pitch block. Maybe we'll just start with cab.
So, we'll start with this. [music] So, in front of your amp, you could try putting your pitch block. Obviously, one of the things you're going to be doing sometimes would be. [music] [music] So you might notice that that that high cut there [music] [music] left or right with it. Why would you want to do that? Um so yes could just pitch down or up like that. That's, you know, your most obvious thing. [music] All that's fine. You do that in the sort of whammy [music] side of stuff with your um expression pedal, too. But [snorts] what I really like to do is use this. And maybe there is just a it's not here, but we could shift things down an octave. And if I'm doing this, [music] [music] I really really like this. I was doing this the other day on a gig, but in front of quite a gained up >> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Now, should Do you have that before or after the amp? [music] Definitely makes a difference, right?
[music] [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> You can set the input.
[music] So for me personally, I'm going to put this after. So this is just an octave down chunk.
But that's [music] the other thing you could try which is quite a useful little thing is your octave up lead.
Um so virtual cappo shifting up 12 And if you're going up in pitch, you might want to involve the use of the high cut. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Let's [snorts] just go over here.
[music] >> [music] >> And then if we paired that with a bit of uh delay [music] >> [music] >> or even delay and reverb. Let's go.
Nimbo stratus.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat.
[music] >> [music] >> Heat. Heat.
>> [music] [music] >> So heat. [music] Okay. Then one other thing that I really like to do with this is um we'll take this approach here which is going to be a bit more on the clean side.
[music] [music] And instead of it being virtual cappo, see, I don't tend to use many of these other things [music] personally. Um, but what one thing we've got arpeggiators.
[music] We just set a key for this. So if we're playing G for example, G.
[music] [music] [music] So that's quite cool.
>> [music] >> Yeah, that's really cool. Sequencer.
Never use that. [music] Sorry, it's an arpeggio here, isn't it?
[music] >> [music] >> Is that [music] sound bit of a for [music] That might sound better before.
[music] [music] So yeah, experiment with the positioning of your pitch block for sure. Uh then this one here which I really love the sound of crystal e.
So this one back to our clean here.
Crystal echoes. It's just gorgeous.
[music] >> [music] [music] >> So it's like delay and pitch engine all in one.
[music] Be pitched or not.
can be panned.
So you could have like this kind of thing going on and it could also be tempo mapped.
[music] >> [music] [music] >> I can't remember what the splice the diffusion which will sort of spreads them out.
[music] Forward or reverse with them.
I mean, that's nice.
[music] >> [music] [music] [music] >> And then we also got an LFO on here as well. Right.
So overall, you've got some really really [music] clever stuff in there. Um, experiment with those obviously. Um, you can get some incredible sounds out of these things. Um, feedback. Let's just turn these up a bit.
And then that one keeps on going up.
It's like a shimmer effect in that way, right?
[music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Yeah. Yeah, if you set these with like really pretty long.
[music] [music] Yeah, really cool. So, yeah, give those a try.
>> [music] >> and enjoy some of those sounds from.
[music] And don't forget, you could also pair these with other effects. Um, so you put your pitch on an entirely separate path.
Um, you could do really cool stuff in that way as well. Uh, let me try and demonstrate that briefly.
And instead of that one going there, go to here.
If you put a plex delay in here or something like that, for example, [music] >> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Something to think about. Anyway, there isn't it. Right. So, I'll catch you in another video soon and thanks for stopping by.
You need to go away.
Edit, delete block.
So, some fun things to do with your pitch block.
Cheers for stopping by.
