Darius had been quiet for a few minutes in the way he sometimes went quiet, looking at nothing in particular, thinking something through. She watched him for a moment.

[01:05:21]"When you go quiet like that?"

[01:05:23]He considered it. He gave the question the honest attention it deserved. "The spare bedroom." he said. "Where I started. I think about how small the room was." He paused. "And how none of it mattered in the end." She nodded slowly. She didn't ask him to explain further. She understood. Not all of it.

The oak trees held their shape against it. He didn't think about Portia often. Weeks would pass without her crossing his mind at all.
